Went to this branch on 25th January 2025, for drinks and all the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return to sample their food menu, which looked very tasty.

Lovely place for wine and chilled birthday lunch. Suitable for vegans, veggies and meaties

This is an amazing wine bar with a great selection of wines! We enjoyed the retail Mondays offer of purchasing bottles of wine at a reduced priced. We received a fantastic service from Manuel and Sumi tonight who were super welcoming and lovely - thank you!!

We tried to go there with a friend on Saturday evening. We did not have any booking but the place was half empty so we thought we would be allowed in. The waitress refused us because they did not have enough "serving capacity". I don't know how many people you need to serve bottle of wines but anyway... Needless to say it's unlikely we'll ever try to set foot there again.

Delicious food, lovely wine and a warm and cozy atmosphere - its was akin to being in someone’s living room. Service was also warm and friendly without being intrusive. Great venuen

The wine selection never disappoints at Humble Grape. Food is delicious, with a great choice for vegetarians and staff is always friendly and attentive. Our waitress Ella made our visit particularly memorable. We will be back!

Pearl was a fantastic host for a lovely bottle of festive cheer. Her chat and recommendation was very welcome. And we got the Monday deal with a fab wine at the take-away/retail price!

Qué lástima, lo que prometió ser una gran noche no lo fue. Como nota positiva, la elección del vino es variada y ofrece muy buena relación calidad/precio 10 / 10. La comida por desgracia no 1 / 10. Un filete de tomahawk (a 88 libras por dos) se pidió medio crudo y vino seriamente, seriamente mal cocinado. Un filete de grupa se cocinó bien, pero la calidad de la carne era mala y en lugares no comestibles. El moussaka de setas no solo se ve bastante poco apetitoso, sino que probablemente califica como la peor comida de restaurante vegetariano que he probado. El cordero estaba muy bueno. El camembert horneado estaba sabroso, pero extrañamente casi frío, (horneado hace un tiempo y se dejó enfriar). Cuando me quejé, el gerente amablemente dedujo algunos artículos de la factura - un buen gesto, pero yo hubiera preferido pagar el precio completo y tener una comida agradable. La cocina necesita algo de trabajo serio - y el plato de verduras totalmente reinventado.

One of the most disappointing meals I had had in a long time. The veggie moussaka was barely edible, the rump fillet was full of sinew and gristle, the Tomahawk steak (£88 for two!!) arrived exceedingly rare despite us asking for medium rare, even when recooked it was still rare. Also had quite a lot of sinew. Strangely the baked camembert which was tasty arrived rather cold, it had obviously been cooked and then left to sit for a long time. The manager kindly reduced the bill when we complained, but we would much rather have had a decent meal and paid the full price. On a positive note the wines are exceedingly good values and the range is interesting. My advice go for a drink and avoid eating!

Overcharged by £4 for one glass of wine! Be careful when touch paying- make sure you check the bill, first! They add on ‘extras’ like service and charity, even when you sit at the bar!

Tomé una copa de vino en el bar. Dao, un tinto portugués barato, por lo que £ 11 por una copa estándar era caro, pero esto es Islington, así que me tragué el precio y el vino. Cuando fui a pagar, la cuenta era de 14 libras. 50 ! ¡Cuestioné la cantidad y me dijeron que el ‘excedente’ era una donación y servicio de caridad! Cuando expresé mi decepción, ya que estaba sentado en el bar y no comía, el joven gerente explicó que el servicio era para pulir la zona y limpiar mi vaso! ¡Nunca lo supe! Tonto yo. Si te gusta un buen truco de confianza, visita mañana. De lo contrario, da a este lugar un parto amplio.

They have lost their mind. Two glasses of gavi and a bottle of sparkling water, 34 pounds. I paid and after I arrived home I am still wandering if there was a mistake on the bill. Unbelievable

Wines were very nice, but the food was awful. Don’t like leaving bad reviews but the bill came to over £200 and we did not enjoy. Staff were great otherwise.

The humble grape is a fantastic establishment. As soon as you walk in, you're made to feel welcome. There is a smell of cheese and wine in the air which is extremely satisfying. The staff are friendly, I don't know anything about wine so I listened and took their advice. The humble grape is a place you can take a friend, or have a date. It's quiet and cosy. You feel like you want to spend money here. If you're in the Angel area, you simply have to come to this place, you will not regret it.

Extensive selection of wine and not just cheese platter but various small dishes and tasty ones. Downside of it, the ambience is a bit bland and it is pricy.

Excellent wine and service. I spilled my glass by accident during the evening and without even asking, they had already started preparing me another one. Very nice touch.

I have been twice now. Once with my daughter and then a girlfriend. We were made so welcome and Pearl was an absolutely brilliant Sommelier!! We had fun and learned a lot. The food, wine, service and atmosphere was terrific!

One of my favourite places for a meetup in Islington and I'm not even much of a wine drinker. This place makes me interested in trying some though: it's got a huge selection with some really unusual (for me) European selections. Their wine offering is huge though and there will definitely be something to your taste or worth trying on their menu. Failing that the staff are skilled and knowledgeable and will recommend something to your taste. The cafe itself is a lovely, welcoming space, just off busy Upper Street and not far from Angel Tube Station. You can sit in or outside- the window seats are my favourite. Booking is advised though as most customers seem to make reservations. The food is pretty good too, with a selection of small plates and main courses. I like to get a selection of sides to share with the wine. They also sell beers and other beverages. Staff are friendly, welcoming and full of wine knowledge and advice. It's definitely worth a diversion from Upper Street.

Celebrated our anniversary at Humble Grape, it was a really lovely place. We will definitely be back and I would recommend this place to other people. I would only not recommend the octopus dish.

My husband’s birthday was absolutely delightful, we were given the royal treatment and were spoilt all night long! Thank you everyone, we will be back soon.

After a dodgy start with the booking due to poor communication between the events team and wine bar, the problem was resolved. The small plates were excellent, intense flavours with delicate dressings on the side. Expert recommendations for wine from the South African guy, a Chardonnay from Stellenbosch was one of the highlights. Yes we will be back.

Interesting concept, good wine selection and service

We came for a very special occasion last Saturday and were welcomed amazingly well. The staff was very nice, as usual, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was great.

A fantastic birthday evening where the staff went the extra mile to make it special. They were attentive and kind. A drink on arrival and a desert on the house elevated the experience. The wine as you might expect was delicious but the food exceeded expectations and matched the quality. Also the perfect intimate atmosphere for a dinner for two. We will be visiting again!

Chill place with huge selection of wines and helpful, friendly service from Maria at the bar on Friday night late. They also have a few whiskey’s so not just wine. Love the lighting.

So we stumbled in to this adorable little Wine Bar because it looks so cute, lights are not bright like some other places and the bartender Maria was so terrific, friendly and knowledgeable and a really pleasant experience. We will be back!

Alessandro and the Humble Grape team put together a beautiful wine tasting for 20 of us women who are part of my community called Untamed Sisters. We did a four part tasting which was fantastic, we learnt so much about each wine but Alessandro knew exactly when to keep it brief when we wanted to drink and keep chatting. I walked by Humble Grape as I was trying to find a restaurant for my last dinner in London. So glad I found Humble Grape! Delicious food (harissa chicken and crispy cauliflower) - delicious wine (Villa Melnik Bergule Rose) - and I loved the ambiance (I was sitting outside). Special shout out to Alessandro and Lotus who made me feel so welcome. Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood!

Lovely experience! We tried the flight of wines, really nice and fun! We also had the Camembert, burrata, cauliflower and chips. All food was delicious. Service was top notch, so attentive and kind. We even got surprised fudge for my friends birthday (you can select on the website what event you’re celebrating)!! Definitely recommend :)

Went there with a friend for his birthday and the food was incredible as always, so was the wine. We were too full for dessert so didn’t order any, but ended up receiving a complimentary desert with ‘happy birthday’ written on it which was very sweet.

The place looks lovely from the outside, the interior is also quite nice and the staff is friendly but the wine is unfortunately quite awful. I tried several glasses (up to £18 a glass), they were average at best. I'm fully aware of the place's theme and I tried the wine from not so popular regions and wineries while travelling but it never meant that the taste would be completely off.

Great location, we asked about a wine and we were instantly offered a tasting- food was nice, didn’t love the beef croquettes- lacked seasoning. Sunday night but still quite buzzy, felt we had to leave by 10 as everyone else had gone by then. Would definitely go back. The girl who served us was adorable.

Great spot to drop in for a guaranteed good glass of wine. Service offering as much info as you're looking for, but also know when to let you be. Another group were eating and it smelt great too!

During a recent visit to Humble Grape in Islington, my friends and I encountered a series of disappointments that have led me to write this review . The menu selection, particularly the wine list, was surprisingly limited for a place that prides itself on its vino variety. Service was mediocre at best. An example of this? We got served with coffee saucers instead of proper plates... However, the most distressing part of the evening came at the end. We used their app to split the bill and left a discretionary tip, which we felt was appropriate given the service we received. To our astonishment, the tip did not contribute towards the service charge, and because we did not pay the full 12.5%, the manager confronted us. The insistence on paying the full service charge, despite the subpar service, was not only uncomfortable but also quite outrageous. It's unfortunate when a dining experience is marred by such issues, and it's even more regrettable when management fails to handle the situation with grace and understanding. It goes without saying, we won't be returning.
