Very pleasant building with friendly staff. Very enjoyable first visit.

Very disappointed with the cafe we asked for coffee & sandwiches however as it was a Sunday we were informed they only served meals or small plates, we then asked about coffee & cakes but this also were unavailable as it was lunchtime. Must be the only gallery in London without a coffee shop.

We came here as this exhibition was reviewed in one of the national newspapers. It is a 5 minute walk from Clapham Common tube station. It is very welcoming with it's oasis like garden. Very helpful front desk telling us about the exhibition which is the Beryl Cook/Tom of Finland art. There is only one room but there is time and not too cramped to able to take in each piece displayed and good explanations and history next to the each piece. We had some coffee and cake and a little nosy around the gift shop as well. Lovely to spend an hour or so in the afternoon.

I would never have thought of Beryl Cook and Tom of Finland as having anything in common. What a great exhibition - not for the faint-hearted though 😀 Excellent venue, friendly and informative staff. Very enjoyable

I love this indi gallery and the vibes I get when I go to visit it. Recent renovated and expanded, Studio Voltaire is celebrated for its progressive approach, its dedication to supporting artists at various stages of their careers, and its role in fostering a vibrant cultural scene in Clapham and beyond. I went to see the Tom of Finland and Beryl Cook exhibit. Only a genius can think to combine these two artists!! Thanks Studio Voltaire team :) If you are in the area, I definitely suggest to go for a tour.

Great exhibition space, one large room but really beautiful curated. Cafe is inconsolably expensive. Feels quite isolating to the area it is in as prices are totally inaccessible. Gallery staff were so kind and welcoming and interested in talking about the work which is so lovely to hear their insights. Mixed feelings about this place, the 4 stars is largely to credit the excellent curation.

Currently showing an exhibition showcasing the work of Beryl Cook and Tom of Finland this art space is a welcome addition to Clapham s culture scene. There is a restaurant also Be warned the current exhibition is not for those who are easily offended.

At Studio Voltaire for the first time, at the opening of an exhibition of the works of Beryl Cook and Tom of Finland. At first, an apparently unlikley coupling, which works incredibly well. The space works well, providing a neutral background for the hangings. The venue is surprisingly spacious, open and airy. The food and drinks that are available are excellent. Will certainly visit again!

Came for a film screening, poor ventilation and very hot room. Tiles in bathroom are beautiful and venue is nice otherwise just think if I had option to see something here being screened elsewhere I wouldn’t choose here again. Uncomfortable chairs and the heat not very accessible.

Really community café with exhibition space.

A wonderful new gallery space, beautifully curated and presented. The team are so helpful and welcoming, sharing their knowledge and making the space feel inclusive. There is also a great cafe within the space, with a focus on seasonal ingredients. The gallery shop works directly with artists and as a result the products are fantastic - hard not to buy everything in there :) So looking forward to seeing future displays and enjoying the beautiful garden space :)

Love this gem of a gallery, exhibition space, studios and even the artistic toilets (a definite must see), my highlight must be the fountain in their charming frontyard, but then as a water fanatic I am biased.

Great local gallery to visit. The building and the garden outside are beautiful, and the furnish inside is modern and comfortable to look around. The shop also has some interesting items that are made by the artists that the gallery collaborates with. The exhibitions are inspiring and it is obvious that the curatorial team have really put the effort to organise them

Small art gallery with excellent cafe and shop selling limited editions and quirky items. Also sustains a number of studios and residencies, including support for artists with learning disabilities. An unexpected and restful space a few steps from the mayhem of Clapham High Street.

A fabulous gallery, the recent renovation has made a huge improvement in the space, and this is being capitalised on by the curatorial team with a great programme or exhibitions and talks. The cafe space is large as well, with a quiet outside area.

Always a warm welcome. Lovely cakes at the cafe. Interesting Art installations make this a unique place in easy access of Clapham Common tube station. Pay it a visit. You won't regret it

Popped in on a rainy day, as I had heard that it had a great little cafe. It didn't disappoint! There was an interesting exhibition going on with some cool art work and a little shop to look at. We happily sat for a good hour with our tea and freshly baked cake whilst the rain stopped. Would highly recommend this little cafe!

We enjoyed cocktails and tapas in one of the vaults at The Voltaire, the food and drinks were fabulous and the atmosphere despite only being late afternoon was excellent. The staff were very attentive and we would definitely return.

I would recommend this venue to everyone who is looking for something alternative and original. Current exhibition is an extraordinary experimental installation which is completing full space if the gallery.

Late Saturday afternoon. 2 people in the bar! More staff than customers. Quiet, no music, no atmosphere. The BF and I ordered 2 drinks at the bar. Was told to take a seat. The bar staff took our 2 drinks off the bar, turned 180 degrees to put our drinks on our table and charged nearly £8 for the privilege. Please don't be so presumptuous to assume you did anything to earn a service charge! I'd have had it taken off if my BF hadn't already paid. When we arrived back at the hotel later in the evening, it was closed. We sat outside the bar and drank our own drinks (left over from the outdoor cinema) 3 x G&T;'s for £5... and no service charge! I wouldn't recommend this bar and certainly wouldn't drink here again.

I love bringing friends here! The service is always great and the drinks delicious! A thoroughly enjoyable evening!

Another visit and another amazing night... in our own vault drinking cocktails by the fish bowl and having the most amazing burgers and chips.... the boys were happy as it had a tv screen playing the World Cup... definitely be visiting again... a unique place to meet up and enjoy the atmosphere....

I have not stayed at the Hotel but as I work in the area I go to the Hotel's "Voltaire Bar" frequently as it is excellent and with very cute private vaults. Alex the bartender makes some of the best cocktails in town! Highly recommended!

Un té de la tarde en este relajante muy civilizado, el elegante bar bajo el Crowne Plaza de la ciudad. Deliciosa variedad de bocadillos, bollos y postres, con la opción de una amplia variedad de tés, servida en un ambiente relajante y contra una banda sonora de jazz suave. Personal amable y servicial está a su disposición para ofrecerle un servicio profesional, pero discreto. También hizo un cambio agradable tener una buena selección de cervezas de barril disponible - demasiado a menudo no es el caso en un bar de cócteles. Me encantó.

We had a great cigar night last Wednesday with my partner. Service was great and Fani took good care of us sharing her knowledge about cigars. Top cocktails (definitely try Alex's best negroni) and bar will definitely come back soon!

Went there for my brothers 50th birthday party, we had between 50-60 guests, the food platters were excellent, the staff were friendly, service at the bar was slightly slow as there were a lot of guests and 2 staff serving and a manager. During happy hour which i believe was between 5pm-7pm cocktails and some beers were supposed to be half price or 2 for 1, some guests did get the offer, but some did not, a few guests queried it and they either got 50% of their bill back or another cocktail/beer. Quite a few of us opened a tab as it was easier to just pay at the end of the night.The party was on a Saturday so most guests got there around 5pm-5,30pm to take advantage of the happy hour. It was only till the morning after at breakfast did we I and around another 14-18 guests come up to me and complain that they did not get the 2 for 1 offer and were charged full prices. The problem being is that so many people came from all over the country for this special occasion and they did/would not have time to go back to the bar and complain or get a refund. On the Monday i sent an email to the contact at the hotel/Crown Plaza who i booked and paid the party with, she referred me to the bar manager. After emails back and forth he advised me that the guests that were overcharged would have to come in person back to the bar to get a refund, i explained that most of them did not live in London and it would not make sense for them to come all the way back here as it might costs them more than the refund, i told him that surely he could run a till report within the hours concerned and if he could not establish who the refund was due to then they could send me a refund and i could work it out for them and send them an individual refund form my own account to them, he was not having it and said that they could not do this and if they did not come back to the bar with their receipts then he would not be able to do anything, One of the guests that did live in London went back there on the following Monday and got a refund for overcharged drinks which amount to more than £100,i can understand the odd error but to make an error of more than £100 means that at least 10-15 drinks were rung through incorrectly, and this was just for the one guest. I find this totally disgusting especially as the party cost me more than £600 to hire the venue and food and champagne and I estimate that we spent more than £3000 over the course of the night, I was going to have a few more parties there and even stay at there hotel but after allthis we will definitely NOT be going back there even though the hotel and staff were lovely.

Un agradable bar de el Crown Plaza. Los cócteles eran geniales y especialmente el Negroni por Alex (el mejor! ). Personal muy amable, Fani nos sirvió y nos dio pistas para pasear cerca.

Voltaire is simply amazing. Went here on Friday night with a group of friends. We got a custom area. They served us amazing cocktails, great cigars, and they had outdoor heating to boot. Special thanks to Alex behind the bar! Those sazeracs we're out of this world 10/10

Reservations were responsive, quick and informative. We booked a vault and although the first vault was a little smaller (especially for food) and colder the kind waiter moved us to a larger, warmer vault as soon as it came available. The service was good - if i was to “nit pick” at anything only towards the end of our dinner we went over to the bar to pay the bill as no one had come for some time. Otherwise they accommodated every request and were very nice, we ordered food from the Italian restaurant to eat in the vault it was good especially the black truffle pizza. We also ordered starters from the bar menu and all were very tasty especially the triple cooked chips and courgette chips. A cool night out with privacy and music to have chats, drinks and food.

Received virgin experience for xmas and visited in January to coincide with lumiere festival in evening. Caught train to Blackfriars, walked down New Bridge Street all way to Ludgate Circus without finding place. Retraced steps and eventually found it was in the basement of the Crown Plaza Hotel - not obvious from road. Interior was long room split into small low couched horse shoe booths each with small table in middle that is fine for cocktails but where table was too small for people sitting opposite one another to have food. We moved to same side and moved table close up to enjoy tea, The Tea drink selection was good - tried the Galadari House Blend which was excellent. Food was fine, good service. Just found cocktail bar not really designed for people having afternoon tea.

Mi novio y yo visitamos este bar de cócteles para el té de la tarde en un bono de Virgin, todo experiencia días era precioso. Es un tesoro escondido. Nos llevaron a nuestra mesa y nos dieron un primer menú de tés para beber, elegimos nuestro té y esperó a la hora de té de la tarde en llegar. Parecía increíble. 3 capas, 6 sandwiches frescos, todos los dedos, luego 4 rellenos de plátano y sencilla, bollos con una buena cantidad de crema de leche y mermelada, genial para nosotros como siempre vamos haciendo en la crema! Entonces un tipo encantador de ratón con crema de limón y puré de bayas con crema, un trocito pequeño de pastelería bowl con fruta fresca y 3 rebanadas pequeñas de tarta cada uno! No puedo quejarme de este lugar, incluso los aseos eran preciosas. Personal muy amable, correos electrónicos, fácil de contacto y el anillo que en el día de ingreso son todavía. Sólo tomamos lo que estaba incluido en nuestro paquete de té de la tarde y cuando pedimos otra tetera pidieron £5 así que pedimos más agua caliente y leche! Está muy cerca de la estación de blackfriars, literalmente al otro lado de la carretera. Hay una zona al aire libre, pero como están en la planta inferior, no hay ventanas donde se puede mirar fuera de, eso es lo único que mi pareja no me gusta mucho. Sin embargo, la iluminación en la zona del bar es lo suficientemente agradable de todos modos. Considerando volver para mi cumpleaños!

Went to Voltaire last night for a Cocktail Making Lesson with my boyfriend. We had a lovely and fun evening learning how to make two rum cocktails, both delicious and suitably alcoholic! The chap teaching us was lovely and really friendly (I've forgotten his name sorry!).

Our small work team of 7 came here yesterday for a treat, and it was all in all a very good experience. The waiting staff (sorry, didn't get their names) were all polite and attentive without being intrusive. One of our group was delayed by an hour and her tea arrived very quickly. The food was lovely - traditional afternoon tea with a twist - the savoury bruschetta were particularly good, and the lemon dessert. We were offered refills of tea. The only negative thing was that there were small flies buzzing around the whole time... really don't expect this indoors and in winter.

Alex was a pleasure to be in the company of, he recommended a fantastic sauvignon blanc and even let my friend touch his beard.

I booked an area in Voltaire for work drinks. Having never been there before I was unsure what to expect but I needn't have worried! The team at Voltaire (especially Jemma, Fani, Jesus, Rob, Maya and Alex) are an amazing bunch, making sure we were looked after from start to finish.I would definitely recommend Voltaire and will certainly be visiting again!

We arrived back at 12:55am hoping for a drink in the bar, and ordered a bottle of wine, only to be told by the bar man that we can only have it if we can drink it in 4 minutes as he is about to shut! Very poor.

I do not normally leave reviews. The service here was so good it would of been rude not to let you know. We came on saturday and had to delay out afternoon tea by an hour. We arrived to our table decorated and complimentary prosecco for a special birthday we were celebrating. Such a lovely gesture!! Thank you for making our girly birthday treat in london extra special. Fabulous food, friendly service that exceeded our expectations. Thank you for making our afternoon tea extra special. Will definately come back.

This is our second visit to Voltaire and it was equally as good as the previous one. They really need to publicise this more, as it a lovely afternoon tea. We were sat in a cosy booth and had excellent food, three cocktails and tea. The sandwiches and canapés were delicious, there were lovely scones with jam and cream and tasty cakes. We couldn't eat it all, so they provided a box for us to take them back to our room for later!There were a good range of teas to try and we will definitely go back to try other teas.

I went there with a group of friends and we sat at the bar. Alex (the barman) as well as Fani who were serving us were very friendly, chatty and made our night out very enjoyable. The cocktails that Alex made were amazing and one of their kind. I would totally recommend and I would definitely come back.

I met a client for drinks here as it was close to their offices. Based in the Crown plaza at Blackfriars it is in a great location. The Bar is nice and has a good choice of drinks and especially cocktails. Outside they have several cabins ( arches under the main road ) which you can as a private room for you and your friends. The dinks list is reasonably priced and has a great variety. I am looking forward to trying the afternoon tea which looked great.

Our visit to Voltaire was for an afternoon tea, which was purchased as a voucher. I was impressed by the brilliant service of the staff, particularly Alex and Fani. They went the extra mile to make sure I had extra sandwiches as I am vegetarian (even though I'd made the mistake of not letting them know in advance), and accommodated our preferences to the T. The location is very convenient, and made for a lovely quiet afternoon tea. Wide selection of teas and sandwiches, excellent scones, and though not all the miniature cakes were amazing, it was certainly a very pleasant and enjoyable experience at great value!

The Customer care we received on this evening of the Saturday 16/09/17 was out of this world. Alex who was training us how to make Pina Colada made the experience very special and enjoyable. The Manager Rob was amazing. And the Ambience for that evening was so beautiful and it made us feel at home. Thank you All the Voltaire Team for this lovely evening.

I love this place! The manager and his staff always deliver great service. Cocktails are the best I've tried in the city and a good happy hour also makes this place awesome. I would highly recommend to anyone, the moment you're seated and receive fresh cucumber water and free nibbles and served by extremely well trained staff who'll guide you through the great cocktail recommendations and a really interesting craft beer selection also. It's a must to visit!

We had the afternoon tea with the cocktails! Scrumptious, all of it. 3 small cocktails that packed a punch! Large choice of teas that come with finger sandwiches (salmon, duck and egg); scones (plain and currant with cream and jam); loads of cakes! God it was delightful and filling. Great cellar bar with a sophisticated vibe and nice waiting staff. Good size; not too big or too small, just right. Lighting and jazz music was also good. At 5pm happy hour started and it got noisy and less "sophisticated", as will happen when the troops come in. I recommend going in the day if you want a more exclusive experience. Go later if you want something fun but not really unique. Will definitely go again.

I've visited Voltaire several times this year to smoke and drink, having previously been a regular at a different cigar bar. It was the warm hospitality I experienced at the hands of Jon and Rosalia that kept me coming back, and I am sad to hear of their imminent departure to pastures new. Thanks for all the great memories you helped us forge!
