The best restaurants in Spitalfields and Banglatown Tower Hamlets London

We ordered tea. When the tea arrived, it was lovely and hot, but because the cups had no handles, they were too hot to pick up and drink. We asked if there was any cake or dessert we could have. We were told 'No. The kitchen is closed'. Yet Crispin calls itself an all-day restaurant. We asked if there was anything ready for serving, that didn't need any preparation and were again told 'No.' A couple who arrived a few minutes after us were given a menu, placed their order and were served with coffee and also some desserts. They were served by a different member of staff to us. Clearly our waiter just couldn't be bothered. When we paid, we pointed out all this out to the waitress. She said she made a mistake in serving dessert to the people next to us. Bizarre and disappointing.

Been meaning to visit for some time and really glad that we did. Well located on Brick Lane. Food was great. The French onion soup and 3 cheese plate were so good. As were the mussels and beef onglet steak. We also had the Tarte Tartin & port for desert. Alongside the great food, the service was really good 😊 Given we regularly visit this part of London, we look forward to returning.

Atmosphere is where is its at for The Pride. Small, close, wood and warm. Got a pint for 5 pounds, which is a bonus. Tight sueeze at 5:30 on a weekday with after with the after work crowd, but there's always space outside.

I never write a review unless it is bad to warn others not to fall in the trap. I visit big Moe's in Ilford with my family after seeing the impressive decor from the outside. The decor looks amazing but sadly the food didn't match the interior. I ordered a big Moe's platter for two, but the portions of food was really small, and there's only one small pot of fries . This platter was meant to be for 2 people, but it looked like it could only feed 1 person. For £43 you also get a half chicken for that price. Complete rip off. After spending close to £90 for a family of 4 , we all left hungry. The chicken was tasteless and dry, and the burgers looked a lot better then they taste. Chicken burger was dry and hard. Well never go there again. Don't get fooled by the decor. To rub salt into the wound , they charged a 12% service charge on top.

A very busy and bustling restaurant. We always make sure to go here when in London. Great, tasty food at reasonable prices.

There are 3 Gunpowder locations in London. I went to the one in Spitalfields. It’s a very small restaurant that serves delicious takes on Indian food. Everything is creative and mouthwatering. I had the absolutely delicious kale salad - the kale is crispy! And the leaf wrapped fish with a creamy mustard sauce - very moist and tasty. From my reservation, they knew my birthday was approaching so I also got a dessert with a birthday candle - very thoughtful! The waitpersons and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. London is known for good Indian food, Gunpowder really stands out as a great example.

This place used to prepare some of the best coffees in East London. Now they still sell some decent beans retail, but they do not appear to put much care in the coffees they prepare for immediate consumption. I went a couple of times and both times staff, while nice and friendly, did not appear to be properly trained for speciality coffee (if one wanted to put it rudely, one might say they did not have a clue).

The fish and chips were very good. You can get other of dishes like burgers, Italian and steaks too. In the morning, they have breakfast menu too. the service was good too.

Food absolutely swimming in thick grease 🤮 They appear to have a new chef. The old one was fab this one AWFUL Avoid!!! Such a shame as left a review to say how good they are ! Not now

Good burger and good service, the burger waa extremely juicy and tender. The servers were very sweet and kind. A very nice experience, would recommend.

We ate here after seeing a local play. It is fast and delicious. You can make reservations online, but they might not be necessary. The dumplings were great as were the beef noodles, seaweed salad, and cucumber starter.

Great location especially for people watching. Afew seats and high tables outside on the pavement.A variety of snacks and main courses. Staff appear helpful and relaxed with no pressure to rush customers. We have been here before will will know doubt return when the weather is sunny or warm enough to sit outside.

Marvellous desserts. The cakes and cupcakes are splendid. The food is so good. The bakery/cafe is wonderful. Would recommend.

As a company rough trade are a joke. Sold a damaged record to my son and refuse to answer any emails, messages or calls on the matter.

Lovely staff all very helpful, and accommodating steak was amazing. Will come back. Server was sandijs.
