Had a very unfortunate experience this evening. I am type 1 diabetic and came into the BFI to buy a full sugar coke as I was having an urgent extreme hypo (low blood sugar). My boyfriend went to the bar and paid £3.70 for a half of draft coke. I started drinking it and realised it was so full of ice it was about 4 mouthfuls which wouldn't cut it to get my blood sugar up. I asked him to go back and get them to top it up a little (considering we were already short changed due to the ridiculous amount of ice). The bar man refused (short guy, white with dark hair) saying he "wasn't allowed to top up drinks" and made my boyfriend pay another £3.70 for a glass of coke with no ice. Which was totally flat by the way. Pathetic.
Great location and quite busy as expected (South Bank) I was very disappointed with the lukewarm chips and cold onion rings although the steak looked good but never got that far before it was returned to be replaced, and unfortunately the replacement was no better.
Think the steak knife was an original from the day it opened.
Clearly the food (original and replacement) had been left waiting before it could be served by any of the 4 waiters who were totally rushed off their feet.
Highlight of a great day spoilt
My friend and I went to the Wharf, for lunch yesterday. It was a terrible experience. We ordered fish and chips, and steak and chips. The steak arrived first, and sat on the counter by the till as both waiters struggled to identify who the dish should go to. To put this into context, there were three occupied tables, including us.
When they worked out it was for my friend it was brought over. We queried if it was still hot, the waiter responded with annoyance saying that of course it was. We countered saying we had watched it sit on the side. He said, ‘yeah, for less than a minute’. On we ploughed. We said ‘well, we’ve looking at it for 5 minutes, on the counter over there’. His response? ‘No you haven’t’. I then asked him to not argue with me. His response? ‘I’m not arguing’. Oh the irony.
My friend asked for it to be taken back, and he grudgingly agreed. The same bit of meat returned 5 minutes later, and the only change was it was 5 minutes colder. She asked for another steak freshly cooked. My meal then arrived, which I ate alone. My friend’s meal arrived 15 minutes later, and it was finally hot and she ate it. However, she has texted me this morning that she started vomiting overnight. Presumably due to the meal, as she started feeling unwell once she was home and didn’t eat dinner.
Have I mentioned the surly waitress who ignored me, then rolled her eyes repeatedly when I asked for condiments?
Yeah, not a winning team. I suggest you don’t go there when there are loads of other options along the South Bank.
Bonito ambiente
Amazing lobster rolls, absolutely delicious and thank you to the host for squeezing us in! Great service, and would definitely visit next time I’m at the theatre.

Always such a lovely service makes me keep coming back.

The coffee is great, food delicious and such a great atmosphere!
Highly recommend stopping by—this is Pret at its best!
This place was genuinely the worst place I have ever eaten.
To start the menu online is not the menu In store
We ordered a couple of cocktails, heavily overpriced. My old fashioned was served in dirty glasses. Perfectly priced at £15 per drink.
On to the the food. Starters were spring rolls, clearly bought from Iceland, soggy and tasteless and drenched in sweet chilli sauce to mask the the lack of flavour.
Mains; "Korean fried" chicken. Something I never thought I'd find on a Vietnamese menu. But nonetheless the picture on the menu looked good. However we were served with one piece of oven fried chicken thigh with a large serving of sticky rice. I have travelled all over Asia and never once has any chef paired Thai sticky rice with "Korean fried chicken" and of course to cover up the lack of flavour again, an abundance of sweet chilli sauce was generously lathered across both the sticky rice and the 'Korean fried chicken' . All this for the low low price of £24 for 2.
Sides, I ordered a bao bun with pulled pork, also not Vietnamese but when in Rome. The bun was soggy, moist at best, the pork tasteless and unseasoned all for £7.
Our entire meal with drinks came up to a grand total eye watering £82
This place is a scam, as others suggested, it is not Vietnamese, nor is it Korean, nor is it Thai or Chinese for that matter. In fact if any member of the Asian community where go here they would immediately walk back out.
The chef should be ashamed of themselves and should probably pick up a cook book or maybe spend sometime at a Vietnamese hawker stall and learn a thing or two. I am happy offer some recommendations.
