Stopped off for a Sundsy morning breakfast and was pleasantly surprised whagt. good visit we had. A traditional large, spacious and clean cafe with out door seating perfect for sunny weather. i had the halloumi, sujuk, egg & tomato breakfast and it was delicious. So much so I’ll be back for the same for the good value and generous portions. Friendly table and counter service, clean toilets and a good pit stop if you are near Petts Wood Railway Station
We were near Penge and decided to give this place a try because it had a mixture of review ratings so I thought we should try it out.
Fish & Chips : Fish was the highlight, fresh and not too greasy, very tasty and great value at £9 with small chips, but the chips we found to be a bit tough, but it was fresh and tasty otherwise.
We also ordered saveloys and sausages in batter, the saveloys was horrible, tasteless, texture of mushed something but I can say it doesn't taste of meat, the sausages was good as the kids enjoyed them.
Overall it is good if we never ordered the saveloys, but with it, the whole meal rating dropped from 4 to 3 stars.
Service is efficient, nothing fancy, we didn't have to wait long for the food.
Would we visit again ? I would say yes when we next near Penge but minus the saveloys, as they also do chickens too so may give that a try on our next visit, and hope they can try their own saveloys too.

This is my local pub and me and my partner go in all the time to play pool and/or just for a drink. The chairs are super comfy, darts is fun too and the larger selection is really good! Enjoyable music, lovely staff and great service! When when the sun is out the beer garden is in prime position too! Highly recommend
We visited for lunch for the first time today after a friend recommended it. Will definitely be going back. Great atmosphere in here. Staff are welcoming, professional & helpful. The food was amazing. Our group had a mix of Sunday roasts & burgers. All meals were impressive & good value. Loved the vegan roast option (I’m vegetarian & a really good veggie/vegan roast is hard to come by but this was one of the best I’ve had).
Hubby had a roast sharing platter which was amazing value & he’s still smiling about it!
Gets busy so would recommend booking.
We have been coming to this restaurant for years. The food and service are still excellent, the staff lovely, and we do enjoy our visits, however, some suggestions for improvement:
Turn the lighting down - the lights have suddenly got a lot brighter (no one wants to see my wrinkles ;-)
The music, although very nostalgic 80’s and 90’s, would he best substituted for something more authentic/Indian.
Please start accepting Amex again. You used to. Why stop?

Probably the worst I’ve ever had! Chips missing any flavour just soggy and sad. The fish watery and greasy. Even the peas were terrible! I’ve paid almost 18£ for this and it’s a scam! Very very disappointing!
Always leave you good reviews, but what happened this evening??! Food arrived late and was not very warm, which was so disappointing after using JD for years. Ordered at about 18.20, hoping it wasn't too busy, but it took almost 1.5 hours. So hungry by then! And food was a real letdown. My daughters chicken shish over done and hardly any mayonnaise. All the food was only luke warm. I had cold halloumi: ( Had to get a part refund from just eat. So don't think I'll order again.
JUST HAD A TAKEAWAY FROM HERE. TANDOORI CHICKEN WAS NOT FRESHLY COOKED. I THINK IT HAD BEEN FROZEN AND WARMED UP! TOUGH AS OLD BOOTS AND NOT A BIT OF BBQ CRISPYNESS TO IT AT ALL. WATERY ONIONS TOO. SAME WITH SHEEK KEBABS. COULDNT EVEN PICK THEM UP TO PUT THEM ON THE PLATE. THEY WERE THE CONSISTENCY OF PATE.
BEST BIT OF THE MEAL WAS THE MUSHROOM BHAJI. YOU COULD TELL THEY WERE FRESHLY COOKED. SAG ALOO WAS OK TOO.
NEVER AGAIN THOUGH. I CSN HONESTLY SAY THAT IT IS THE WORST TANDOORI I HAVE EVER HAD!
The coffee and food here are still excellent. However, since one of the permanent staff has left (maternity leave, I believe) we have new staff who have brought new ideas: loud pop music. I've been twice recently and was unable to hear what a friend was saying due to the music. Even sitting outside I could hear the 80s "classics" blasting away. There are many alternative cafes in Beckenham and I fear I shall be frequenting the one next door if this continues. Such a shame.
The food arrived piping hot and with generous portions. Taste was superb. Will be ordering again. The menu is extensive with many options to choose from.
