Awards wining ? , very bad customer care , ordered via Deliveroo costing £30 , item arrived and large chips were missing , rang the shop , told nothing they can do and to ring Deliveroo , why wasn’t they fault item missing !!! Was told nothing they can do ? , they messed up the order , they should contact Deliveroo not me ! , then to be told oh it’s only chips , wow nice reply .. If I am passing there refund my chips 😃 disappointed , we all make mistakes , yet there unwilling to sort it out , when there mistake ..

Cold, dark, wet, 8.30 Friday evening. Paid £12.50 for Scampi & chips, when l got home, scampi were luke warm, hence chewy batter. Server was obviously aware they were not freshly cooked when she packaged up for me. Will not return as not prepared to put up with hit & miss. Should be consistently good.

Wonderful fish fresh crispy amazing batter BEST OF ALL THE LONDON BOROUGHS WELL DONE . My family over from Germany next week .They love the range quality of the fish as well as having a restaurant to done in Amazing owners running this wonderful Fish & Chip establishment.As they say in Germany 🇩🇪 DAT ES GUT YAH WUNDERBAGH ☑️✅✔️✔️

soggy batter on the cod and the pie was cold, chips where ok but wont be using again for a while as the last few ordes where not great .

We’ve only ever had takeaway from here, but the food has always been very good - some of the best chips in Orpington! Prices are pretty high, but food and service are good, so it’s worth the extra

Ordered from here. The prices and size for large portions are an absolute disgrace. When I called to ask woman was blunt and raised her voice. Not acceptable. Rest of the food was cold. Waste of money Won’t be ordering again

Terribly overpriced. Paid £13.50 for a Cod and chips worth perhaps half that. On top of that I had to wait 15 minutes for a service that should take 30 seconds. Will not be revisiting.

Large bag of chips at £3.50…opened to find a literally a handful. Cod at £10. I won’t be going back. There is too much choice locally and at these prices and portions it’s not worth it

Very disappointed in our meal tonight, we are regular customers, cod very over charged okey and chips even worse. I’ve thrown half of it away.

Called & ordered over the phone, collected on time. Our order was bagged & sitting on the counter when I arrived. Got home after a 5 minute drive to luke warm food & the most disgusting chips we have ever tasted. I called the shop immediately whilst dishing up but the member of staff that I spoke to couldn’t really have given a damn, she half heartedly said sorry but there was no offer to put this right. Food needs to be kept under a heat lamp until the customer collects otherwise it is going to be cold. Charge enough for terrible food!! Won’t be using there again…!!

Tasty cod and chips were okayish but overpriced, no salt and vinegar available, 15p charge for a bag (get cheaper ones or give people an option) and the miserable elderly lady is still allowed to serve customers...

Lovely fish and chips only gripe would be I love lots of salt and vinegar and didn’t have the option of putting my own on sachets of s&v is a big no no for me sorry but just saying

We use the Village fish and chip shop virtually every Friday . The Cod and Chips are good quality, hot and very edible. The scampi however, is a different story. We have stupidly purchased Scampi on the last six occasions, five of those it has been barely luke warm or cold, i have even taken it back on one occasion but nothing has changed. If they are not capable of serving it hot, like the cod , then don't serve it at all. Trouble is you don't feel like buying anything there after a while.

Have always enjoyed fish and chips from here and order online for collection. However they have just introduced a 15p charge for a paper carrier bag. I am all for reusing bags and I should have the choice of bringing my own bag rather than automatically be charged for a new one.

We occasionally have a takeaway from this shop. The quality is very good and the quantity is generous. For the two of us a small portion of chips is more than enough. My wife often keeps some chips and half her fish for Saturday lunch. We arrived at the appointed time of 6:00 and collected our order 2 minutes later. Very efficient service and good food. Highly recommended!

Ok I read the reviews.....Straight White People in are general happy here, all other ethnicities or sexual orientations or genders (genuine) mixed reviews. As a straight white family we thought, ok lets grab dinner. We forgot our sons best friend was staying over (non-white). All was fine until he came to his turn to order, then BLAM the attitude started. We were shocked, it was like turning a light switch on....one minute fine, next minute awful. Honestly, if you can imagine 'we don't serve their kind here' but in attitude not words. I would avoid tbc, if you like us believe in a forward thinking Britain, places like this need to be relegated back to the 70's.

Fish cake nice and the fish ..chips awful..really limp and dry. Only come here for the chips as the peanut oil is lovely making them crisp...will stick to seafare in Marion crescent now

Didn't realise that this shop had a restaurant sit down area until last week, so we tried this after several great "Takeaways".. Everything was great with this too, so can highly recommend both services now!!

Very disappointing fish and chips - small portion of tasteless fish, and the chips were very dry and tasted like oven chips. Can't believe how busy the shop was, if this is the usual standard of the food!

Comimos en este restaurante regularmente y compramos comida para llevar en alguna ocasión. Esta noche, después de un largo viaje, pedimos eglefino y papas, arvejas y guisantes. El abadejo no estaba cocido, los guisantes blandos no estaban en la bolsa y el destello era duro. Retomamos la comida y el personal fue grosero y desdeñoso, se negó a aceptar otra orden y durmió un reembolso en mi mano. Qué comportamiento vergonzoso. Una pena como esta tienda de pescado y patatas fritas solía ser agradable. ¡Pues no más costumbre de nosotros!

This was a great chippy back in the day (2013-15). Such a shame that it has gone downhill at such a fast rate! Rude old women that serves is almost as cold as the chips that they provide.They forgot to put my fish burger in... so £4 wasted... the Cod was very small for the price. Curry sauce was cold... Such a disappointment. For anyone reading this go to Britannia fish bar over the road much better with a good service and price.

We have had Cod and Chips from the branch at Petts Wood quite a few times and always felt they were one of the best but the last two times we’ve bought it once in Jan and then Feb this year it hasn’t been very nice at all and I can say I wished I never eat it, it wasn’t up to scratch the fish wasn’t very nice as if it wasn’t cooked properly and not a nice piece either, the chips that we got in Jan so so small they put them in the box with the fish so hardly got any and some had black bits in so we threw them away and the ones we got last time half had to be thrown away because of the black on them, don’t know what this was never seen anything like it, it was a good job they put them in a bag this time as we got more so could afford to throw some away. We used to go to green street green to get decent fish and chips so was glad when we first had some at Petts Wood but will definertly be going back to GSG again as they have gone downhill at the Village so won’t be eating theirs again.

Freshly cooked, good portion sizes, lovely staff. Can be a bit on the pricey side but worth it......

This chippie serves the best tasting chips anywhere. Never too many but you can ask for more if you need to. The fish has beautiful white flesh and melts in the mouth.

We had the Cod and the Haddock. Both were excellent as were the chips and mushy peas. Great batter. Very reasonable price wise, we thought. Great service.

Excellent quality and value, best around . Used to get this delivered but they changed delivery company who don’t deliver to our are so have to collect, but it’s worth it .

The Village Fish and Chips is conveniently located in Petts Wood village, but not being British with fish and chips in our DNA, we often forget about it. But every time we go we find it fantastic for both food quality and service.

Went on the spur of the moment as my wife wanted fish and chips. We are not regular fish and chip eaters, but this shop is very good and reasonably priced for the area. Good size portions and the service was spot on. Worth a try.

Excellent takeaway cod, mushy peas and chips. Plaice excellent too. Only needed one small portion of chips between 2. Curry sauce good. Quick and pleasant service. Totally spotless restaurant inside. Would and did return.

We've been long been customers of the Village Fish and Chip shop. We always eat in and the fish is always perfect! Crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish and of course chips to die for. My only slight criticism is the eating area is rather cold in the winter.

We often eat in the restaurant, and can relate to people's comments about the service on occasion, although never the food.

Fluffy chips, plump freshly cooked fish to order. Friendly staff. Fullly reccomended. Shame the wine was not very nice. A nice crisp white wine would be a delight to go with the sea food.

... I tried to pay for my order with a debit card 3 times and 3 times the machine didn't show the amount. I was told by A..ie (the elderly lady with blonde hair) that I was being too slow but I've been a regular customer over the past goodness knows how many years and I've never had this problem before. I think there was something wrong with your machine. This lady, who in the past I've always found to be very pleasant, needs to remember that the customer is always right.

Often go here for lunch. The portion size is good. Home made tartare sauce is lovely. All the fish us been cooked to order when I've been there.

The lady with white hair was really nice and sweet to us. The only down side was the chips were not cook enough for my liking. The fish needs to be drained before serving, it's coming out slightly greasy. And what us going on with the tartar sauce

So last week, I entered the restaurant to ordered my lunch, the lady at the counter (elderly, white hair with a bandana) who was happily chatting to a white guy, looked at me and made such a sour face as if she was about to throw up. No hello, or any greetings and looked at me as if I had clearly trespassed. I ordered my fish and chips and she did not even look at me. Mentioned my order amount. I handed over her a tenner. She slammed her machine and poured some coins in my hand.

I read some reviews on here and decided to take the short drive to The Village Fish & Chips. I can tell you that I was not disappointed. The service was good even though the place was very busy.

This restaurant is always very busy for takeaways (and they do delivery too)We decided to eat in, however you do feel a bit neglected as the staff seem to be busy serving the takeaway customers. We had cod and haddock and both were amazing - you can't go wrong with the fish here. We did have to send the mushy peas back as they were served cold, quick whizz round in the microwave and they were fine

Placed our order for delivery, waited 40 minutes, then called to find out where the order was, when they eventually answered the phone, I was advised they had left and would be with me within minutes, after 35 calls later they finally answered the phone and said the driver was still on her way!! I explained that I was told that 25 minutes ago and we live less than a 2 minute drive away! the lady was very apologetic and said we could come and collect!! Although we were reluctant, we were so hungry we went and collected it! The delivery driver never did turn up!!!We will never use the delivery service again!!!

We were the second customer on Friday evening when the shop just opened. We have had fish and chips here previously and it has been excellent, but not today. The chips we were given seemed as if they were left overs for the afternoon,they also had bits of grit in them. Fish was good but not as large as the last time round. The young lady who served us was excellent though

Fish & chips here are usually good - 80% of the time. Plaice is usually good (occasionally dry) when available as often sold out. Cod always available but again sometimes dry.

Had cod and chips with the family for a treat. The pieces of fish were very small and completely over cooked, very dry and could not eat the ends, was expensive aswell. Also they do not salt and vinegar the chips for you, the salt they give to you in paper sachets which go soggy in the bottom of the bag. Will not be going back.

Regularly buy fish and chips from here on a Friday. Always very good. Now and again have the food delivered. Delivery service needs improvement. On 2 occasions now I've waited for an hour before phoning and asking where my food is. I've had a confirmation number but they've not received the order. Last night in total I waited about 100 minutes. I don't think this is good service. And they charged me. Also, they don't take notice of delivery instructions. I don't WANT vinegar or salt. I've got plenty at home!

Family run business that prides itself on using good quality ingredients to provide freshly fried fish & chips. And it shows.Not the cheapest fish & chips, but certainly the best quality and freshest tasting for miles around.Take-aways are excellent. Friday nights can see quite a queue, but this is relatively well managed considering all fish is freshly fried to order, not left lying around under hot lights.Eating in the small, quaint restaurant at the back is an enjoyable experience, served by family members (not professional waiters). There's a very small menu as you might expect, but I've never felt the need to venture past the "Cod & Chips" and I've never been disappointed yet.TIP : I recommend opting for their delicious, home-made Tartare Sauce. It is one of the tastiest complements to fried fish that I've ever had.

Fantastic Cod and Plaice. It is not the cheapest but certainly the best. Dining in is a very pleasant experience. Friendly staff and very clean. This establishment is licensed and a glass of wine and a bottle of San Miguel is very reasonable. The portions are not the biggest but quality wins every time.

Voted in the top 50 national chippies (?) In 2015 it's the business. Small eat in restaurant and takeaway. Very fresh fish, great chips rounded of with a cuppa eating in comes in at £20 for two. Don't think of going anywhere else kids. This place nails it.

Fish is always freshly cooked to order and is unfailingly cooked to perfection. The chips are properly cooked, unlike most chippies that usual serve limp, anaemic chips dripping with fat. Here you will get chips that are slightly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just how the should be.Small seating area at the back if you want to eat in, the whole establishment is scrupulously clean.Highly recommended.

Would never order Fish & Chips from anywhere else after a take away from here. The portions are very generous, they don't feel greasy and fatty, are very good value for money and the staff are always so friendly.

The fish is always cooked to order as you arrive. It is served in polystyrene boxes that keep it hot and easy to transport and eat from. Plenty of wonderful tasting fish and chips freshly cooked without the grease.

Recently moved back to the area and descended upon place with an order for 15 persons. Staff brilliant, took it in their stride, managed our expectations on order timing and produced a tasty meal. Haddock was cooked to perfection (my choice). Suffice to say, i'll be back upon a regular basis.

Have used this fish and chip shop twice recently and on both occasions the food has reached my house in first class condition and still boiling hot . The quality is great and so are the portions , also the service is extremely fast . Will keep using them .

If you love your fish and chips, then this is the place to visit. We have tried most of the local chip shops and in my opinion none meet the standard of those made by the Village Fish and Chips for quality and value for money. We have also dined in house as they have a little 'tea room' at the rear of the shop. The staff were friendly, patient and efficent and the food was absolutely the best, hot fresh and very very tasty, what more could anyone wish for.Its worth noting that this little gem now deliver to your home address. I would never go anywhere else for my fish and chips and I highly recommend you do the same, so go on ... give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Often is the case that award winning chip shops lack the heart that traditional chip shops often have. I can't fault the quality of the food, but I can fault the price. I was very surprised to find the equivalent of a very small portion of rock & chips cost £12, albeit whilst eating in. On the tables were bottles of non-brewed condiment, but in the bottle was vinegar. Not sure if they did this thinking people wouldn't notice, but me not liking vinegar found it difficult not to. Pedantic this review may sound, but in my opinion it is not worth the hype, and I'll be sticking to chip shops that don't enter for awards.

My mother has been undergoing a 5 week course of chemo and radio therapy and on the way back from the hospital said that she fancied fish and chips. As she has been hardly eating this was a revelation. I looked online and found The Village Fish and Chips. It did not disappoint. The fish was freshly cooked and delicious. The chips were proper chips and again freshly cooked. Mum cleared the plate and for that I'm very grateful. You can dine in, in a licensed section and the whole place (excuse the pun) was spotlessly clean. A great find.

A little more expensive than your every day Fish & Chip shop but every serving I've had from this place has been spot on.The skate is awesome.

Firstly, I must say I visited this chip shop after seeing them place highly in the chip shop awards. Wow. This place is dedicated to giving the customer the best, freshest fish and chips experience. The food is delicious. The restaurant could be better, more ambiance, better decor etc but the food is to die for. Just try it once. We have 3 or 4 chip shops more locally then this one but we go that little bit further for the quality. You won't be disappointed!

This shop only offer a cheap brand malt vinegar and salt in sachets. I much prefer my chips with onion vinegar and I like to put lots of this on with salt before I leave the shop..It seems so strange to me that a fish and chip shop lacks one of the main things that you would expect to see in there, bottles of salt and vinegarThe portion was extremely small for the price and the chips were not tasty (possibly due to the lack of onion vinegar)I did not enjoy this visit and will not be returning

I frequent The Village Fish and Chips fairly regularly and I can honestly say that they do some amazing food, normally I get the battered sausage and chips and it is delicious. The cod is also pretty darn good and I imagine everything else is great too!The staff there are always extremely friendly and happy to serve which is nice, I place my order in advance (10 minutes or so) to avoid having to wait around during the busy periods!Great... plaice... Bom bom.

Went here as my boyfriend spotted the TripAdvisor award in a local paper so thought we'd try it!We both had cod and chips and they were or very good quality. They even removed the skin from the cod. Will definitely go back in the future.

My parents have just moved to Petts Wood so I searched out the best chippy in town and arrived here.The service was impeccable and the food exceptional - except the chip portion sizes - they're a little on the small size. Will definitely go back again, but order double the chips!

By far the best Fish 'n Chips in the area. Takeaways are cooked to order and you may have to queue so why not eat in? Plenty of seating and very friendly staff offering excellent service at good value.

This was my favourite fish and chip shop, I still can't fault the quality but bizarre experience will make me think twice about coming back again.I have always been offered the option of salt and vinegar on my chips before wrapping.This evening, shop wasn't at all busy, my order and chips were wrapped up and put in the bag....I asked if I could have salt and vinegar, the polite response was: "We don't do salt and vinegar only sachets sir"! Whereupon a whole load of salt and vinegar sachets were chucked into my bag by the lady!A total waste and what a strange experience. Is this a new food hygiene practice that I should be aware of? I don't think it is an economy measure. I felt as though I was in an alternate universe.Again - good quality product but I have been driven to post this.

Having tried many fish & chips from Devon to Humberside, this has to be the best so far - tasty, fresh & friendly!

Im a regular and love it. I recommend the fish cake + curry sauce is out of this world.The price isn't too steep and for the quality its really worth the extra.

The fish is nice but the chips seemed re cooked and really soggy. The kids meals are quite good value

We were staying with relatives and really fancied a fish and chip meal. I had Rock and my husband, Cod. It was cooked to order and very good. The chips were good but could have been crispier. We also had fried king prawns as a starter and they were excellent and the chilli sauce certainly had chilli in it! All in all a good fish supper.

The food was ok but the chips were a let-down - too many and a little bit soggy. It is definitely one of the better fish and chip shops in the area.

We arrived just before 9pm to order cod and chips twice. The staff were very friendly. They shut at 9:30pm on Fridays and 9:00pm on other days. We were informed that it would take 7 - 10 minutes to cook. Fish and chips are fried to order. The cod was chunky and the batter reminded me of cod and chips from many years ago. Absolutely brilliant. I was also pleased that they took Amex.The shop was clean and the meal was a wow. Have not had fish & chips like this for a long time. We will be back!
