Mo's Fish and Chips in Bromley

They have a sign saying they’re reopening on the 9th of August yet it’s one month later and still shut. What a shambles

The latest fish and chips I collected from Mo's were really good, it all tasted very freshly made and both the cod and chips were very tasty/fresh. The portions were of good size too. I've ordered here many times and the quality is generally consistent, there were only a couple of times when I found the chips not as fresh/tasty as normal, but most of the time it's been very tasty. The service is very friendly too.

Lovely staff, however the haddock (£9.50) was very very small and over seasoned - this was without added salt. It looked more like a kids portion. I will vote with my feet (or car) and make the Crsipy Cod in Orpington my new go to. It’s very very good.

Haven't been to Mo's for a little while since we moved until tonight - what a disappointment. The chips hadn't been cooked long enough and were hard and greasy. Didn't seem like they were cooked in the lovely ground nut oil of the past. The fishcake had a strange dark brown coating and the mixture inside was a grayish colour giving the impression it contained an amount of fish skin and less white fish. The curry sauce separated on the plate and turned watery. What's occurring? Has it changed hands? Definitely not the Mo's we went to weekly when we lived local. Sorry to say don't think we'll be back.

Polite and friendly staff. Food was cooked to order. Cod was golden brown and not greasy. Jumbo battered sausage was the usual sausage you get but bigger and not a saveloy, it was the best I have had. I also particularly liked the chips, which were chunky but not as thick as some chip shop do theirs. They were golden brown and a little bit crisp but still soft inside, not soggy like most others. I will definitely be going back again, honestly faultless food guys, well done.

Excellent quality fish and chips. You get exactly what they advertise. Good quality fish with all skin removed. The chips taste as though the potatoes are chipped and fried fresh on the premises.

This shop has gone downhill, the last two times I have been the chips have been well over cooked and dry, had to throw most away, a neighbour has said the same, the cod was really good but chips inedible

SO grateful for this place as my son has a gluten intolerance, he had heard so many good things about the place that I called to find out if this was what they did and called up, the phone was answered by a wonderful lady sorry I didn’t get her name but she informed me that I could place an order if I wanted to. My son has been more than twice now as he is comfortable eating their amazing chips and fish which I have to say taste AMAZING with the onion vinegar💞Chips 100 out of 100 and fish 100 out of 100 if I’m allowed to say so☺️Thank you SO much for filling a niche as you might pay slightly more but what people don’t understand is the suffering a lot of people with this disorder go through as your limited to what you can eat if out and about or takeaway as food that gets cross contaminated is not a joke for my son. Mo’s fish and chips ensures ALL their gluten free fish and chips are separated and that’s what makes them special. Thank you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥰

I’m new to the area and this is the first ‘southern’ fish and chips I’ve had…let me tell you…it’s the best chippy I’ve ever had. The food was immaculate and freshly cooked. The staff incorporated my dietary requirements. The service was tip-top. My deepest respect goes to the staff at Mo’s, I will definitely be coming back

1st visit to Mo's everyone loved their food,we collected & was hot at home. Chips were brown, crispy & chunkey. Mmmmm the cod was huge & really really lovely.

Genuinely awful. After coming here for over 10 years I can say that I will never be returning here again. Somehow this place gets worse every time, but this time was the final straw. The battered sausage was all soggy and the batter wasn’t even crispy. The chicken strips were even worse and felt like they hadn’t been cooked properly as I had to spit it out because it was so chewy. The fact that they have the cheek to charge people for this is outrageous, do they not test their own food??

If you buy in the shop, you always get great fish and chips. If you order takeaway via Deliveroo, you get the worst chips ever. This was happening last year and has continued today. Absolutely inedible, cooked left over chips, and they look and taste. just like that. So beware !!

I’ve been going to Mos for the past 6 years and this is the first time I have been disappointed. It is clear since Mo has sold up that standards have slipped. Today I ordered 6 cods, 2 large chips and a curry sauce for my family who look forward to a takeaway from Mo’s. The fish was overcooked and smothered in oil which ended up soaking the bag. The chips were an awful dark colour and looked like they had been cooked in old oil. Over the years Mo had the cleanest takeaway, but I noticed there were chips on the floor by the servers who appeared oblivious to the lack of cleanliness. I can see there is a complete lack of awareness from the current owner and staff as to the previous high standards set by Mo. I felt compelled to let the staff know and spoke to Sam when I got home. She made the excuse that because they were busy the chef may have overdone the frying, but I’ve seen the shop much busier previously and run like a well-oiled machine under Mo. Sam offered to give me something extra at my next order to compensate for my poor experience today which was nice of her, but I’d rather get what I’ve paid for. That’s nice of her, but I fear she’s missed my point about the decline in quality that Mo’s has always been renowned for. For a start, I’d make sure the guy who gets the fish isn’t just going through the motions.

Went here yesterday for Skate and chips..my favourite,fish took ages to cook think the new owner forgot it was in fryer..batter was brown and crumbled to dust when a fork was put in it..chips also brown and greasy..The place has been under new owners for a while now..shame..won’t be back

We ordered cod, plaice and one portion of chips for delivery. There were delays with the delivery as the driver had to head in another direction for a second delivery before coming to us. (Not his fault). The food was only just warm. The chips were very dark and overcooked. Both fish were overcooked with very dark hard batter that was not edible. Extremely disappointing. Not up to their usual standard.

Went to Mos for fish and chips paid £12 50 when I got home all that was in the bag was a portion of chips, phoned them up asked them to deliver but they say couldn’t actually virtually calling me a liar saying she served me and there was fish in the bag, they said they would give me a a refund next time I’m in there, I’m here for just the day I asked if they could deliver although they said that was impossible even though Uber does deliveries for them. As far as I’m concerned they are a waste of space there the most expensive chips I’ve ever had , I’m a oap and it was was impossible for me to get back

I put in a big order for a family occasion amounting to over 20 servings. It was ready on time and everybody remarked upon how tasty the Fish and chips were. Really helpful staff. I highly recommend Mo’s.

Ordered 2 x cod and fish from deliveroo this evening and can honestly say i am very disappointed. Unfortunately the chips were extremely over cooked could hardly get my fork into it. Cod was really soggy too. Such a shame about the chips as even the flavour of them was not nice at all.

The cleanest and neatest takeaway venue I have ever seen. All the bags and boxes are stacked and lined up in the most uniform build ever. To the food - freshly cooked using ground nut oil and gluten free upon request. Great tasting fish, sausages, mushy peas and chips 😀😀

Have been to this takeaway before but tonight the food was very disappointing, we ordered over the phone and told it would be 10 minutes, when we arrived 5 minutes later it was ready, once unwrapped on arrival home the batter was very soggy and the curry sauce was extremely watery, not good at all. Its a shame as this was once a great takeaway.

I Cannot believe how i have just been treated by the Owner Having been a regular customer for many years as i live nearby i am disgusted as i have just been shouted at by the owner I called in advance to place my order and was told 10 mins, on arrival i waited outside for sometime as i had my dog with me, after a while i popped my head in the door (holding my Dog in my arms so she didn't enter the Shop)just to let the lady know that i had phoned ahead & was waiting outside, but while i was trying to say this the owner went absolutely ballistic and shouting at me, therefore i went back out. The lovely young lady that was serving came out to me & i asked why he started shouting at me as i didn't enter the shop with my Dog and she apologised, i said it wasn't her fault & paid While walking back from the shop another customer commented on the situation to me and he himself couldn't understand why i was shouted at and treated in this manner When i got home i couldn't eat my food due to feeling so annoyed having been shouted at in front of other Customers and on reflection shouldn't have gone ahead and taken the order I am well aware of Health & safety & Hygiene and not allowing animals into places to eat I have done this on many occasions before and it has never been a problem with other staff Both Myself & Husband will not be using this place again as i have never been shouted at & made to feel so humiliated collecting a food order

Apparently, you're meant to give you order to the person standing outside. But if you're not a regular, they let you walk in, and queue up for 5 minutes, and then look at you as if you're an alien for not knowing how their peculiar system works. Staff don't give any eye contact, and all act like it's the worst job in the world, and just want to go home.

Normally use Mo's but went this evening about 5.30 , had to give my order to a young lad outside, was then called in to collect my order, the guy on the till was very abrupt, I've got slight hearing issues, and 3 people were all talking about orders and do I want vinegar?, I didn't catch what the big guy on the till said, I just asked to confirm my order, you would of thought I'd asked for all the money out of the till, it seemed to be too much for him. Got home food was piping hot, but not normal standards, lots of crunchy scraps of chips, the sausage in batter my son had looked like it had lost most of its batter, and my cod was like cardboard over cooked and not very nice probably because it was so thin, never had this problem here before, went out of my way to go here, but won't be going back, I will spend my £17 elsewhere.

Everything is freshly cooked to order and the food was free of the grease you usually get in chippies. Good taste and I don’t feel bloated like I usually do after a fish and chops! Bravo!

We were so pleased to find a local chippy that did gluton free fish & chips. Thought we would give it a try. What a lovely surprise how good it was. Crispy not soggy batter on the skinless fish and wonderful chips. Very helpful staff when I rang them and labelled the bags gluton free so as to reassure us. Delivered lovely and fresh by deliveroo. Gluten free cod and chips, homemade fishcake, mushy peas... It was really fresh and crispy. The fishcake is flavourful, thin crusted, a hidden gem and huge (£2.50?! I thought I'd get something half the size) Also from the packaging you can tell Mo cares about his food and is not wastesful - thick paper bags to make it breathable but keep heat in vs using cardboard boxes. I tried to order on Deliveroo once but didn't see the GF option so gave up. Calling to order and then collect is a breeze. On street parking is not bad (using Cul de sac nearby if the road outside's busy)

Excellent. One of the best fish I've ever had. I have travelled across all coastal towns in England, as far as Hastings, Blackpool and North Devon. This is superb in taste and quality. Mo's Fish & Chips of Orpington is on par with Britain's finest Fish & Chip restaurants such as Squires of Braunton in North Devon and Maggie's of Hastings in East Sussex.

My first time trying Moe’s which I ordered using home delivery after reading several recommendations on our Neighbourhood app. Absolutely amazing fish and chips. Can highly recommend for a perfect Cod n chips. Enjoyable onion rings that you can bite into and eat properly without getting the usual string of onion on the first bite. Lovely Panko prawns. Absolutely delicious. Will definitely be ordering again. Thank you Moe !

Everything cooked to order, so freshly made every time. There is a friendly staff member outside the shop, to take your order, and you only go in to pay and collect. I always collect so I know what I am getting and can get it home asap. Great selection of additional items, including veggie burgers so works for vegetarians too. We tried the squid, cod and chips. All were really delicious, so will be going back for more soon.

Ordered via Uber Eats. Haddock was ok but paid £3.50 for large chips and got a very small portion. Saw someone else in the reviews said the same thing. At £20 for 2 x fish and 1 x chips will spend my money elsewhere. Shame, they used to be great.

Placed an order today via deliveroo, I feel like I have given my money away. You can tell the chip oil isn’t changed and the battered dish is full off batter and hardly no fish. Will not see me ever again.

Awful experience. We have been using this fish and chips shop for years and always rated it until our experience tonight. Ordered through Deliveroo. Never ever again. We were 1 large bag of chips short from the order.And when you have 2 hungry teenagers,that is a big part missing of the whole meal. Rang Mos straightaway. All he could offer was sorry several times. Sorry will not feed us. Expected us to reorder through Deliveroo and claim money back through them. No way! I'm not paying out more money and then waiting several weeks for refund. The receipt clearly said 2 large bags of chips. How can you make a mistake like that? It was so clear! It's your fault! Not Deliveroo. They didnt pack it, you did. And by the time,we would get the missing bag of chips, the other food would be cold and need reheating. You have lost our custom for good. Plenty more fish and chip shops in the area. Not looking after your regular customers. Very upset! Having just scrolled through the reviews. it seems like we are not the only ripped off customers. Missing parts of the order seems to have happened a lot. I wonder if Mo would like to make a comment back on here as to why orders that are packed by the shop are wrong alot. And please comment how I can reclaim my missing large chips that we paid for and you owe us Update to your reply Yes we now have a refund but only on the Deliveroo account. We will have to place another take away order in order to access it. Our experience was upsetting and left us all hungry(Try dividing 1 large bag of chips between 4 adults).The experience has taught us that we will never order a takeaway to be delivered again. Missing out order items has happened from your fish and chip shop several times looking at the reviews. Why so many mistakes??? A bit of double/triple checking needed before an order goes out. Anyway I got your attention to answer this. I hope you will learn to double and triple check orders in future as part of the learning process!

The fish and chips here are great and tasty every time. They have a good social distancing process when collecting food. Staff are efficient and thorough.

Superb Fish and Chips. I have lived down south since 2012 and generally avoided fish and chips as they were always a let down. I have been spoilt going to Whitby too much. I moved to Petts Wood last year and this place was recommended. Genuinely very impressed and can’t stop going back. Now have no reason to visit Yorkshire!!!!

Just had the most awful, freshly cooked, cod and chips from Mo s Fish and chip shop in Crofton. The cod was mostly batter and mainly bits of chips And had to pay £17 oddfor the privilege!
