The coffee and food here are still excellent. However, since one of the permanent staff has left (maternity leave, I believe) we have new staff who have brought new ideas: loud pop music. I've been twice recently and was unable to hear what a friend was saying due to the music. Even sitting outside I could hear the 80s "classics" blasting away. There are many alternative cafes in Beckenham and I fear I shall be frequenting the one next door if this continues. Such a shame.

Friendly local meeting place, ideal for coffee and snacks. No sliced bread sandwiches available, but assorted fillings available in 'French Stick' cut to size. Since Covid, inside seating has been reduced, but there is more seating outside Two observations to make. The staff do not wear hand coverings when preparing the food. Nor is there a 'Food Standard Rating' displayed on their window!

I have been coming here recently for morning coffee/ pastry and, on every occasion, the coffee, food and service has been excellent. I have read some other reviews from a while ago which criticised the service. I can only assume that there's been a change of staff as everyone was very friendly and service was quick.

I really can’t work this place out, I’ve been to this establishment quite a number of times over a couple of years and even though the foods ok the service is ultimately very very poor I don’t know what the problem is but the staff have an attitude that they’re doing you a favour and that your lucky to be there and this results in leaving a bad taste in your mouth. There is no excuse for inattentive rude staff other than people being resentful having to work there. I think that bad service is contagious in that if any new staff start work there they take that as the norm. Please sort your service manners out and no more leaving people standing there and not being recognised with a “be with you in a minute”this isn’t for me as I won’t be returning but for any other people who frequent this place…. For me it’s happened much too often ..

Coffee sometimes great sometimes like hot milk depending on who makes it Inside is a bit odd since they’ve changed the lay out since lock down. Sometimes friendly but frequently treat customers as an inconvenience

We met for coffees and a chat, also ended up ordering a sausage roll and Danish. This was Wednesday 19 August. No problem with the coffee or food, this was fine. But, despite the sticker in the window stating the cafe was taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, we were charged in full with no 50% discount. Naturally we queried this and, after some debate the waitress discounted the sausage roll but not the Danish or the coffees, claiming they were not included in the scheme. She gave an example of a baguette, which, had we ordered one, would have been discounted by 50%. In fact all eat in food and drinks are included, except alcoholic drinks. I wonder if the Accounts Dept of this restaurant knows what is happening - otherwise it will be automatically claiming 50% back from the Government which has not been passed on to customers, this making a 50% profit on such sales.

I have been here many times so decided to take my friends from Wales after a walk round Kelsey Park. We only had coffee and small cinnamon cakes but my friends were delighted with the cafe. They enjoyed the atmosphere and those cakes! Nothing like this cafe in Sketty, Wales apparently!

Visited with friends for lunch. Two of us shared a ham baguette which we asked to be cut in half. We only got one plate and had to ask for a second serviette. Then ordered coconut macaroons at the counter. Wrong cake delivered because the names & prices were displayed next to the wrong items. The server was reluctant to change them even though they then rearranged the description cards and had the cheek to ask for another 40p. Again two cakes on one plate and one serviette. I’m guessing they’re short on china. A pleasant enough establishment but very pricey and loads of naff plastic flowers in the window. No signage to say order at the counter.

Just wanting a light lunch I thought we would try this parade of shops. The cafe next door was pretentious and we didn't fancy the bakers, so we walked into Parc Franglaises and were instantly welcomed! We chose from the extensive menu, ordered at the counter and were served and with more smiles. Such a change from the usual surly staff in some places. I had soup (very nice) and my friend a smoked salmon croissant. Perfect for our lunch. Then chatting to a lovely staff member we decided to share a piece of cake. Although it was supposed to be Earl Grey flavoured, it was more lemony but none the worse for that. More smiles and goodbyes as we left. I will definitely return. Thank you all for a very pleasant lunchtime.

As soon as I came through the door I was welcomed with smiles from all of the staff members which was lovely - they even remembered my order! The food came very fast as it always does, as did my coffee which was extra hot - always a good thing after a long walk in the park. There are some new filings in the deli which I can't wait to try - more to add to the wide variety that is already there. The coffee was excellent and the barista was very warm and friendly when giving the drinks over to us. I like the idea of the "try me" food - if it wasn't for that I would've never had the filled baguette I now regularly order! Overall, a charming cafe with excellent decor.

Now the cafe has changed management the food choices are wider and just as good quality as before. What isn't so good is that you have to pay in advance as if you are in one of the chain coffee shop retailers which encourages people to leave unattended property at their table if they want to get something else. Not keen on that at all. Also I was a bit miffeed when I basically got a telling off for ordering a two filling sandwich and they mistakenly mixed the fillings together instead of half with one, half with another. Something I had numerous times before. Staff replaced it but rather reluctantly. At the prices they charge and the frequency I've visited past and recently I expected 'service with a smile'. Otherwise my visits are a good experience. The coffee has also improved since the days of the French rather surly manager was there. Overall, no real improvement overall since those days just pockets of improvements and deteriorations to give an overall good but not improved overall experience.

I have used this deli for over 15 years but the lovely French baguette that I used to buy along with the pate', cheese and other yummy goodies has changed. The baguette is no longer that lovely, warm, slightly chewy, fragrant bread that used to be made here. It has no love or soul in it and is very much like the other sad lifeless baguettes you can buy at the supermarket! Please, please, please bring back the old recipe and the French baguette!

One cappuccino and 2 Ham croissant came to over £8 for a small coffee and to not very special croissants. £1 per item added for sitting down. Not impressed. Tired drab interior, friendly smiling staff, and uninspiring menu and food with very little or no change in the menu in thirteen years and despite a recent change in owners/management. I've always gone for a cold drink after sampling their rather poor coffee many years ago but decided to give their coffee ago recently thinking the staffing changes may have improved things. Unfortunately I found again the coffee was not to my taste and left a full cup hardly touched. There are far better delis and coffee shops in Beckenham, and I make a better cup of coffee myself at home.

It’s been a while since I visited Parc Franglais – I got a bit fed up with the owner’s sneer when I asked to buy something and felt that if was that reluctant to sell his products to his customers, he should find another business. Walking in today I was greeted with warm smiles from all the staff and served by one of the new owners. Professional and welcoming it was a good staff. Although most of the deli products looked the same, there seemed to be a wider selection of cheeses and everything looked fresh and appetising. The pastries (formerly a shade of brown that one might call “burnt”) were all golden and tempting and the brioche had me regretting eating breakfast before I came out. Can’t wait to go back on another day to try them.I had only drunk coffee here once before, a disgusting muddy liquid that, to use a phrase, you could trot a mouse across. Today I it was just a well balanced, good roast and very, very hot (most welcome after a walk around a chilly park). All in all this was a great first impression and I’m looking forward to a second visit and to seeing how the new owners develop the business. I hope they retain the deli but continue with their customer friendly manner and develop the food offering without turning it into a conventional coffee-shop (we have a couple of great independents already in Beckenham). So congratulations and good luck.

I've been using this café/deli for many years and always had a good experience. The service is always quick and the food always good. They typically serve cooked meats, a variety of cheeses, salads etc all in lovely (baked on the premises) baguettes as well as a variety of desserts. It's under new management now and whilst service and food have remained excellent, the friendly atmosphere has made it an even nicer place to visit. The two young sisters who run it couldn't be more friendly and seem be doing a great job and any new members staff appear to be of a similar nature. If you're eating in, Saturday and Sunday mornings can be busy but tables regularly become available so there is rarely a wait and the system of serving people coffee and food works perfectly (unlike some places). After all, why fix it if it isn't broken. People come from far and wide for their freshly baked baguettes. Highly recommended if you're in the area or visiting Kelsey Park.

This is a rare gem that we have frequented for years and will continue to! Set next to Kelsey Park, it boasts an excellent selection of typical deli food and beverages within a relaxing environment. From our experience the service is brilliant, the staff always go out of their way to make sure that we are happy, catering to all our (admittedly quite often picky) needs! The new management are so far doing an excellent job of maintaining the winning formula that has kept it so popular, whilst making a few subtle positive changes. Prices are in-line with the average London deli. The ambiance is delightful and the food delicious, so it more than earns its title as an outstanding “delicatessen”!Furthermore, aimed at no one in particular, I would suggest that if you are taking up a table for 4 as a singular man whilst disabled or elderly are waiting, perhaps making your own decision to move to single/double table would have been good etiquette?

Just been politely asked to leave as they needed the table I was at. I have used this deli for many years and really got along well with the previous owners.New management now and I had as usual a meal and a coffee and do some paperwork whilst in there. I have just checked and I was in there less than 40 minutes and asked for another coffee when the young assistant said they needed my table.I spend approx £70 every week in there and although I would not want special treatment, refusing me another drink because you want me out is basically short sighted, very rude and I was embarrassed.Plenty of other Deli's out there which is a shame after all these years.Food always been fine although on the pricey side but as I said the previous owners made me feel welcome each time.

Conveniently situated for a quick bite to eat or a cold drink after a visit to Kelsey Park. A few tables available outside on the narrow pavement are popular with dog owners. This deli could be far better were it not for the always moody and sometimes rude (French) owner who is ever present. If you are fortunate that someone else serves you then you will probably have an ok experience but otherwise you will likely ask yourself why you are paying over the odds for the food and service you receive.

I've been frequenting this cafe for years. Its recently changed hands but is pretty much the same as before. Surprised at some of the previous comments. I've always found the service good, and the quality of the food really good. It's more of cafe / deli than a coffee shop. The decor is not modern. It's basic and not trying to be anything trendy. I tried this cafe quite by chance because I take my Peugeot in for a service at the nearby Chinese Garage. I like the ambience and the cappuccino coffee is good and very hot and the food deli offerings are high quality and good value for money too, and far better than chain coffee shop offerings. I regularly buy cakes and stuffed baguettes and have never been disappointed. Staff are accommodating and helpful. The only minor criticism is that there are few cake choices to purchase, the opening hours are not that long, and the owner seems a bit dour and has never really spoken to me, despite having visited at least 20 times now in the past few months. The rest of the staff are cheerful, helpful and friendly. I recommend this cafe - and I am fussy -, as do loads of other people, so it seems, judging by how hard it is to get a seat at the weekends.

I visited this place in the hope of having a nice breakfast featuring some properly made French "viennoiseries", I wish I hadn't done. The first impression was that of scruffiness, in a way that went beyond an intended effect of looking "old style" and suggested some sloppiness. There are a few small, spartan tables scattered around the room which don't look very welcoming. But, considering the rest, this is only a minor flaw.I took croissant and a cappuccino. The croissant was only average, no better than the frozen ones that bake in any chain bar.The cappuccino was, instead, positively dreadful: watered down, low quality coffee with little milk with scarcely any froth on it. I had to add extra sugar to be able to bear the taste and finish it. Automatic coffee machines you find at rail stations do a much better job.On the top of all this, the service and the price are quite bad and void of any logic. For a start, many items in the menu have unreasonably high-priced compared to others. Additionally, there is a large overcharge for eating in that varies randomly with every item they sell: the croissant has an astonishing 80p overcharge, going from 85p take-away to as much as 1£65p eat-in, while the cappuccino is overcharged by 25p only (from 1£75 to 2£). These large overcharges do not correspond to any special service or courtesy: in spite of being a small place with several staff, you have to order and pay at the counter and the general attitude was suggestive that they were annoyed by the presence of their customers.I advice against going to this café: there are other places in the area with better prices, better food and run by people who go as far as smile to their customers. I'm totally puzzled by the fact this place looks if it had been open for years, who'd come the second time?

I ordered two cappuccinos, one with an extra shot, to take away and drink in the park nearby. The regular one tasted of nothing, the 'stronger' one for my wife had a mild coffee taste. I took the regular one back and politely asked for my money back because the coffee was so bad. Firstly, the owner said " You should have been smarter and asked for a strong one", then he said "don't come back and next time go up the road to the bakers where they do better coffee". I kid you not. Finally, when I suggested that his attitude was unbelievable, he swore at me and asked me to leave. I was flabbergasted. So don't go here if you like decent coffee or good service.
