The good: lovely, friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Delicious food. Great, laid back atmosphere. The not so good: they have vegan mains so they really must add a vegan pud or two to the menu. Otherwise it's hugely inequitable, with vegans paying the same but having half the courses.

We chose Jams for our wedding dinner celebration for just under 50 people and we are very pleased with how everything turned out. From the beginning Maria was very helpful and proactive with the details of the night, she even offered to stay late one night so we could do a trial of the table layout after the restaurant closed. The chef accommodated all of our menu requests and the dietary needs of our guests. We had a very wide mix of nationalities at the wedding, and all of our guests raved about how good their food was. Samantha was very friendly with our guests checking if anyone needed anything, and Jim behind the bar kept the drinks flowing and the guests happy. We would definitely recommend Jams for a private event or just for a meal. Even their breakfast is good as we found out the next morning, when we went back with some family and friends. Highly recommended.

This is a good place for brunch. Sometimes service is very slow. Cocktails prices are not bad. They shouldn't charge for service, if customers are satisfied with the service they will happily give themselves. Overall it is a nice place.

It’s my second time to this café and I’ve had great service and food each time! It’s a true independent where you can tell they care about the food quality even the healthy options like the protein shakes are delicious. We were looked after by Nancy who always gives amazing and warm service. The restaurant has really nice decor and is inviting and I would highly recommend!

Absolutely awful bland and overpriced food. Avoid! Tasteless humous and flat breads were chewy and tasted stale.

Been here twice now for Brunch, first for the pancakes and now for the new waffle menu. Amazing taste, service and range every time. I had the Buttermilk fried chicken pancakes the first time, and the English breakfast waffles this time, both times I left my plate empty and was amazed by the price. Top tier breakfast spot.

Nice chilled atmosphere very cosy. The staff are welcoming and friendly, service was quick and the food was super tasty and very filling, excellent portion size. Me and my friend went on a Sunday it was busy. The interior is cute and the restaurant is very clean. Quality of food 10/10 would recommend.

Felt incredibly unwelcome when coming here. Two colleagues - one who was the manager just complaining about something while ignoring us. Seemed irritated by the fact we had our baby in a buggy. During the rant, the manager put the menus on the table - not saying a word. Got defensive when we ordered tea for two and a smoothie - when asked, oh is this a tea for two? And the manager saying well you ordered a smoothie, we have no tea for two.. Really odd. Then brought over another cup and said nothing. When walking back from the loo, both staff members were chatting again in the middle of the walk way, I was completely ignored 3 times when saying excuse me to get past. Received the dirtiest look when walking past - super intimidating. The manager lets the whole place down as there were some lovely waitresses on shift. It is overpriced for what it is and just a really awful atmosphere and feeling of being unwelcome.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was a good portion and tasted great too. We will go back again if I am in the area.

Very nice Mediterranean style sharing platters

Have had brunch here a few times, really great! the staff are warm and welcoming, service is quick, and the food is superb. Often very busy at weekends, there is no option to book ahead, walk in only, but luckily have never waited too long to be seated. They also allow small dogs, which is a major plus for us, really appreciate that! Highly recommend!

This is a perfect example of why fix something that's not broken. When it was the Big Breakfast (which we used to visit weekly ) there was far more choice AND you got more on your plate, as well as a free cup of tea and some toast. Now? No chance. They've tried to go upmarket , limited the choices and stuck some extra money on top, so after trying it once, we won't be going back ....

Went here as it was recommended to us. We didn't book but managed to get a table it was very busy, which I always take as a good sign. We arrived about 3ish. The staff were attentive and friendly. I ordered the lamb chops, which came with chips, salad, and a couple of sauces on the side. The lamb was succulent and well seasoned, and the salad came with avocado, my favourite. I didn't really like the chips they seemed a bit dry for my taste, but I did eat most of them. For dessert I ordered the Red velvet cake another favourite of mine. The place had a very good vibe, and I would definitely come here again.

Was visiting in Beckenham and passed this cafe. It was the bi fold open front doors with tables and chairs in the sun. The cafe was busy and had a great buzz about it. I ordered the English breakfast and the avocado french toast. The waitress was very attentive and we didn't wait too long for our food. The food was pleasing to the eye and I couldn't fault it. The interior deco of the place was really nice and would definitely recommend popping in. I visited during breakfast hours however they do lunch and dinner

Visited here to try out their breakfast. Really nice restaurant and the staff were friendly. I had the full breakfast and the bacon and the potato tots were over cooked. The bacon was very crispy like biscuit. The pancakes were very nice, soft and perfectly cooked.

Friendly atmosphere. The server was particularly good with the kids. She was kind and friendly. The full English was perfectly done. Sausage and bacon was of good quality. The smoked salmon was good, as was the croissant. Omellete was great, as was the bread-toast. The only thing we did not like was the avocado on toast which was soggy!

The platter that says ideal for two is shockingly small portion sizes for what you pay. Either need to do better or charge less, it was dismal for £19. Female staff were nice however.

Very noisy visiting for the second time. Came on a Saturday at lunch and we were seated quickly, however there was a booking so we were moved to the back where we felt like we were shouting over other tables. Our server was kind and helpful, however after our plates were taken away she was nowhere to be seen. We sat waiting for 20 minutes and was waiting to be served for dessert. It was a child’s dessert so as we waited so long we asked for it to be taken off the bill and it was. The service charge was automatically added - be aware and ask for it to be removed it the service does not meet a reasonable standard. The steak duo - chicken steak had peculiar flavours. The burger with bacon - bacon was so fatty that it had to be removed. Slaw did not taste fresh and it would be helpful if condiments were offered since the staff were so busy it was hard to get someone to come back. Very overpriced lunch - 2 adults and a just under 1 year old was £85. Manager was not helpful, did not seem to care and was not very friendly - not returning anytime soon!

Had a table booked for 2pm, updated to 2.30pm at 12pm. Arrived at 2.15 to be told we didn’t book for 2.30 and our table had been given away. Member of staff was rude - a shame as a really nice option usually. A man did ring to apologise but also put the blame on me - when I did nothing wrong. Won’t be rushing back.

Really loved this place. Second time visiting but the first time I’ve had breakfast there. The food is absolutely wonderful and our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Our food arrived quickly, hot and very well presented. Our 10 month old loved the porridge with fresh fruits (which was obviously served as a large adult sized portion). I had the pancakes with eggs, tater tots, bacon and syrup and my husband had a full English. Definitely will be coming back here 🙌🏽✨

This is one of the best places to eat in Beckenham! I love coming here. The staff are always friendly and the service and food is always 10/10. The red velvet French toast and chicken and pancakes are 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

Went here for afternoon tea to celebrate a friend's 70th birthday. The staff were welcoming and everything was very clean and extremely pleasant. The food was generous. Plenty of sandwiches in both white and brown bread and lovely scones served with jam and cream. We started with a delicious glass of fizz and ended with yummy homemade cake. Our whole experience was very positive and we thoroughly enjoyed our day. Service was perfect and we didn't feel at all rushed to leave.

My brother and I came here for some lunch before heading off to see a film in Greenwich. The decor was very welcoming and cosy and we were both looking forward to trying the food. Between us we ordered spinach and feta parcels, a chicken shawarma wrap and a king prawn caesar salad with some fries on the side. The starter was served with harissa hummus which didn’t have much flavour but we both liked the pastries, albeit they were greasy. When the mains came, they looked okay but that’s where it ended really. My brother - who always finishes his food when we go out actually left half his meal. He said the chicken was bland and it was more stir fried chicken than shawarma. There also was not much of it for the price tag of £13. My salad was priced at £16 and consisted of shredded leaves doused in sauce (sadly not served on the side) and the ‘so-called’ parmesan was the dried, pre-grated hard cheese - no shavings which is what I had been expecting. There were 4 large prawns and a few slices of cherry tomatoes (which don’t belong in a caesar) and also bits of croutons. I had expected larger salad leaves for texture but instead was presented with a large saucy mess with zero parmesan flavour. It was disappointing and I left most of it. We also both agreed that the fries had a crispy and overly fried coating on the outside which neither of us enjoyed. Unfortunately the staff were just milling around and not paying any attention to us and we sat with our half eaten plates for over 20 plus minutes before they even cleared them away. When we asked for the bill, no one followed up with a card machine until we asked for it. Due to time restraints we did not say anything about the food, as we knew we’d never come back and frankly no one seemed to care when half eaten plates of food were cleared away. Sadly the food is basic and average and overpriced for what it is and I wouldn’t recommend anyone with a reasonable food palate to eat here.

Good brunch with big pancakes! Wasn’t sure why the dish came with fruit slices but not complaining as they give me more vitamin C. Only gripes are that the food took ages to come out (around 45 mins from ordering) and sometimes getting the attention of the staff was difficult. I understand they’re busy but think other places along the high street cope with this better.

Absolutely delicious food and the pancakes were some of the best I've had. The place was absolutely heaving and I can see why.

Went tonight for a birthday. Food was lovely, of course price is sometimes a lot for food but expected for Beckenham. Atmosphere was really nice and manager was very warm and friendly. Really made the evening lovely! Will be back 100%

Came here with my Nan baby and toddler. Sat down outside, because there was only one table that was suitable to put the buggy next to so there was room I cleared the table for them. They just looked at me and looked away. Someone then came over to clean the table but didn’t speak to us. We sat down and for 10 minutes no one even acknowledged us!! Not even I’ll be with you in a minute or even a nod… nothing. So we sat there for 5 more mins still nothing so we left… such a shame because I ended spending about £50 in the next place. I’m sure their boss wouldn’t be happy on losing custom and people been made to feel ignored

We ordered food with what seemed to be the manager. Waited for 25 minutes while we watch another table that sat down after us get drinks and food before us and the girl stood begins the bar on her phone to her ear while making drinks in view of the whole restaurant and ignored the restaurant phone as she was on her own personal call, which to me as a member of hospitality industry is extremely unprofessional. As all the team members seemed to be very unoccupied and we still hadn’t had any food or drinks we asked how long the drinks would be then she came back 5 mins later asking what we had ordered as she hadn’t put the order in and doesn’t have the ticket of our food or drink order. We simply got up and left. Really disappointing experience especially as we had heard of jams from friends and had better expectations.

Having been a local in beckenham for some time I figured it was time for me to make use of local spots on my doorstep rather than mainstream places. Jams on the Hill didn’t disappoint, it was a welcoming atmosphere for a brunch/lunch. Didn’t have to wait long for any service whether it was for drinks or the bill at the end of our meal. Not to mention the food was great, will definitely attend for dinner on a next visit

I had a lovely early dinner. I had the chicken and wild mushroom pasta and my friend had a salad and we was both pleasantly surprised. They was quick to serve us and to bring the delightful food out. Very impressed and I will return.

Nice atmosphere. Staff nice. Menu looked OK but food was disappointing. All 3 of us ordered different items from the menu. All 3 us got food poisoning! With only 1 toilet in the house, it was a difficult night!

Poor service and rude waitress with dark hair who was argumentative.

I didn't take any pictures as my food wasn't worth a picture. Very basic food, nothing special, and i wouldn't go back. Went for a friends bottomless brunch and decided not to do the Bottomless as im vegan, and they did seem to care when my phone booked weeks before about dietary requirements. She was vegetarian and asked if the sandwiches had meat, the lady said no. Guess what sandwiches they got....... My meal a falafel wrap was very basic, and i could have made it better at home myself. The only good thing they did was that the cocktails were very nice, but my second one tasted different, so they aren't very consistent. They have a large menu, and that might be the issue, trying to do too much, maybe?!?

We have always enjoyed our time at Jams on the Hill. The food is lovely, the drinks are great - cocktails are generous! On top of this the service is fantastic. A special shout out to Andre who goes above and beyond! Thank you

Popped in for a bit of dinner on Sunday evening. The food was great, freshly prepared, tasty and hot. Good sized portions too. The staff were friendly and we will definitely return! 😁

The food is good, and plentiful portions, the service is particularly slow when busy, so slow you just eat if it's wrong as they'll not be back. Mixed thoughts on the service charge placed, 1.5 hours for breakfast and two visits is a tad out of distortion.

I visited here with some friends and I will defo come again. Decor is lovely, food is good and service was incredible. We were served by a young woman (Kiera I believe her name was - shortish with brown hair). She mad us feel so comfortable and welcomed and I would simply come again just for the service! She checked back and made sure we had everything we needed and just made the experience that more enjoyable! The other staff were also very polite and helpful. Would 100% recommend. Thank you all!

My friend and I ordered a Vegan plate each for our brunch.The food portion was much smaller compared to it used to be; especially the sourdough toast, which was a very small piece. We will not return anytime soon.

Avoid. Borderline Fawlty Towers . Manager is attention-seeking and grumpy. Staff lack awareness. Food uninviting. Music is staff choice? Decor odd and mis-matched , inferior service . Our first visit. Upsides: A wide ranging menu to suit all tastes using good quality ingredients well presented by friendly staff. Downsides: Not a lot of seafood in the penne. Annoying noise from radio station - we don’t need music etc in any restaurant. Prices a tad high, including a whopping £5.90 for a pint bottle of Efes and £3. 25 for apple juice and £5.90 for a couple of scoops of naked ice cream. The “discretionary”service charge blurb is craftily hidden in tiny print amongst the patterned border of the menu. Good job I had my readers. No repeat custom from us.

Ignored by staff who had seen us take a seat but we waited over 10mins for one of them to come over to us... feeling not just hungry but really thirsty, I went to counter to find a menu, waited another 10 mins to place our order, waitress really seemed it was all too much to take our order, and service was really unfriendly. Beckenham area is flooded with quality restaurants/cafes so you do not have to put up with shoddy service! the food was not really worth the wait either, I really dislike places that sell food and the menu says with vegetables but the vegetables are just red peppers 3 tiny slices and a slither of courgette! red pepper is always used as a cheap filler! they should just say served with 'few' peppers! we didnt hang around for desert or coffee ! would not recommend this place, but would recommend that they sharpen their knives tho as couldn't even cut through the Halloumi wrap with peppers.

Went here for Saturday brunch, had prawn avocado and New York pancakes. The food was nice but a bit over priced. The staff were snappy and slightly rude as they were very busy. Need to improve their customer service.

Rude manager. We asked for the sunshade to put be up on a hot day. He refused & argued it’s not that hot?!. It was sunny 22 degrees and all other cafes had their sunshades up. Rude man no customer service whatsoever. Won’t go there again. Pity the Big Breakfast went!

We went for my birthday for breakfast and everything was outstanding. We were served by Anna who is 100% exactly the embodiment of fantastic customer service. Gorgeous girl, with a friendly smile and excellent attention to detail x

Excellent food, helpful staff and a well looked after room. If I wanted to be picky I would say that it was noisy with very little acoustic absorption.

Went here for brunch, the decor is so well put together it’s perfect. The brunch and tea was really good, you could tell they use quality ingredients.

Popped in for a cocktail. My negroni was a bit watery as it should be stirred not shaken.

The server was great. The food was mediocre at best. The garlic prawns had weird prawns but the sauce was good, the burger was dry and nothing in it for flavour or taste, no salad or tomato. The fries were good. The dips were good. I enjoyed the eggplant dip the most. The vanilla icecream was watery icy and terrible.

Great venue with attentive staff.

The service from the moment we walked in was less than we expected which affected our experience here. The food was very nice and my friend said the Chai Latte was the best that she had had in a long time. But we found the staff rather unattentive and the music a little too loud at lunchtime for our taste.

Service is friendly but efficient. Food reasonably priced, but of good quality. Milkshakes are superb. I had the shawarna and my other half had a wrap; both were on the money.

I visited this cafe/restaurant with 3 friends looking for somewhere amongst the many eateries in Beckenham. Busy with a good ambience and pleasant, attentive staff. Between us we had two chicken wraps and a chicken burger all served with fries. I chose the 'Meditteranean Superfood' brunch which was very enjoyable. Definitely recommend for a visit.

The food was delicious, I had smoked salmon and cream cheese on a toasted muffin, but my friends' meals all looked good too. However the radio was blaring at high volume - if I've gone to catch up with friends I want to chat not be forced listen to the staff's choice of loud muzak. It was a commercial station so lots of adverts and with the natural noise of a cafe - coffee grinding etc, I found it very unpleasant. Won't be returning.

Had early dinner here this evening. The food was delicious! Had fish as it’s Good Friday - sea bass which was cooked to perfection!! We were served by Daisy who was lovely and really made sure we were looked after. We will be back!!

Visited this lovely little bistro on Good Friday, fantastic food and service was spot on, we both had sea bass, perfectly cooked & the garlic spinach was so tasty.Daisy who served us was an absolute delight, polite and efficient.

This place always serves great food and you don't have to wait long. But every time I have tried to go on a weekend there is just pure chaos trying to get through the door and always a wait. I wish they had a reservation system because we have wanted to take friends there and have just had to go elsewhere because there was going to be a 20min-30 wait.

I visited with my wife, daughter and 4 other family members. Nice welcome and san Miguel on draught which is always a bonus. We had 2 plates of the sharing starters which was the normal meze fare of hummus, tatsiki, bread along with a few other bits. All ok but I’ve had much better hummus. I had the chicken shawarma as my main course. The chicken was barely warm and had clearly been sat for some time in the kitchen before being put on my plate. Being a non-moaner, I tried my best to ignore it but couldn’t. I sent it back and, credit to the staff, they took it without question and apologised profusely, which I very much appreciated. I was served the same dish and, I suspect, the same chicken just microwaved for a few minutes. Overall, decent venue, very nice and helpful staff, reasonable prices but very average food. My sister and her husband had the sea bass and said it was ok. The problem I think they may have is that, with so many restaurants nearby in Beckenham and west wickham, they may struggle with finding repeat customers with such mediocre food. I, for one, wouldn’t go back simply because there is so much better food nearby

Just managed to bag a seat - plenty of demand here. Staff totally superb - clearly out to look after their customers - and food delicious And very well-presented. I had the halloumi and avocado salad and it was a delight to look at as well as eat.

Visited Jams on the hill in Beckenham for the 2nd time this month. Had a great lunch in a pretty and clean restaurant,my mother and I really enjoy it here. The food is tasty,the staff are lovely,and clean pretty toilets. I think this is our new lunch hangout place.
