Just found out that the Rising Sun in Aldeburgh has closed down. What a terrible shame. The best chinese takeaway around. My husband isn't keen on chinese but has always enjoyed their food. It's ashame that they didn't have the space to convert to a restaurant as they would have made a killing. It's been reported that it's for financial and personal reasons. I know we are still in the grip of a cost of living crisis but we would have been prepared to pay higher cost for their great food. Goodbye Rising Sun you will be sorely missed
They had no hot food or sandwiches at all, would be shocked if even there taps were working, middle of the day and absolutely nothing on offer, not as I remember it, very disappointed.
Tried to arrange our engagement party here and is the worst communication and service from the event organiser I have ever received. Constantly ignored even when it got to the point of going into the sea you to speak to the lady who organises. Had to keep chasing for responses and in the end was just ignored and never got back to. Is a real shame as we really liked the cafe there but will not be returning after the way we were treated.

Came in for brunch today. It would be nice to have another bread other than sourdough on the menu. We did ask for an alternative but was informed it was not available. We checked in the farm shop and there was plenty of bread there.
It was a shame because when you have a kipper it’s nice to have bread and butter.

Wow this place has some EXTORTIONATE prices. We walked in and there were a few paper menus with food but nothing showing drinks. I asked if they had a drinks menu to which the staff replied “I don’t think she’s written one”… odd?! What sort of cafe doesn't have a drinks menu displayed? We ordered a cappuccino, hot chocolate (basic one, not luxury with cream/marshmallows etc) and then a sausage roll, it came to £13.20!!!
I didn’t question or really notice at the time but after walking away tried to work out how much each item must’ve been. I’ve since (from another bad review) see that a sausage roll is £4.20 (which also was definitely not something to rave about, it tasted like it had been sat in the oven for a while) and therefore the two drinks were £4.50 each. Absolutely ridiculous pricing, hence why I guess they don’t have a drinks menu displayed!! Certainly will not be recommending, nor returning.

Ordered online shocking the chicken doner was rubbery tasteless for the money you charge the quality should be much better than what arrived. Some recompense would be good.
Great selection of plants, flowers, shrubs and other garden paraphernalia as well as gifts and food. Never seem to be able to find a member of staff to help when needed. The pet shop area is incredily well stocked and the staff are friendly and helpful. Also enjoy looking at the fish.
Lots of parking. Nice outside cafe area but the cafe is a bit more canteen style and offerings are limited. It's dog friendly.
Love that there is a Cotton Trader and Mountain Warehouse next door.
A fantastic venue with a continental/Italian feel in its decor. They were able to accommodate a table of 8 with no notice and proceeded to present us with a perfectly cooked meal and wonderful courteous and professional service. There is an outside sheltered seating area heated by gas patio heaters......Great food , reasonably priced with a lovely atmosphere.

Really good food and service
Pleasant & friendly staff, in an enjoyable atmosphere.
Tried the Vegan Bangkok Badboy Burger, didnt expect anything special, and I was so wrong.
I need a supply of those burgers at home, absolutely loved it, a very different burger.
Make sure you try it.
Staying very nearby on business and finishing earlier than expected, we stopped by for a cheeky pint on a dull November afternoon and stepped into the wonderful Ship Inn which was immediately welcoming with its cosy atmosphere, groovy decor, log fires, soft charming cool music and a tantalising aroma of food! The aromas got to us and we succumbed to the squid and the whitebait. The freshest and tastiest whitebait I have eaten in several decades ( cannot stop thinking about it! ) . Charming staff, clearly well run. Friendly locals. Lovely menu which we intend to fully exploit next visit! Impromptu and quite incredible!
I visited yesterday 16th December and was very impressed by Megan she couldn't of been more helpful it was very very busy but she was still polite and helpful shining star she will go a long way well done Megan
