Brilliant tour today of the Greene King Brewery. Despite not minding a beer or two, I’d never been on a brewery tour before and my knowledge of the beer making process was virtually non existent, but not anymore! Paul, our guide, was very engaging and a walking encyclopaedia of beer, brewing and local knowledge. Rounded off with a very generous tasting paddle, I was able to sample beers I probably wouldn’t normally try. Great experience and highly recommended.

Went to the cafe on a Friday prior to a meeting to grab a sandwich and read up on some stuff for the meeting and was served by a lovely young man that was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was able to sit in peace and do what I needed to do whilst enjoying lunch.

Staff not happy and curt. I asked why we still have to pay full price for drink advertised but without the cream. I was told that the cream is an added extra. Why show photograph of drink with cream at certain price without stating that the price does not include extras. I wanted what was advertised at the price shown, apparently the cream had just run out so I assumed that the extra price would be deducted. Ha ha ha, no such luck, bah humbug

Food Poisoning at Zen Noodle Bar We organized a meal last Saturday at Zen Noodle Bar for a group of approximately 16 people, but unfortunately, the experience was ruined due to food poisoning. Some of us, including myself, fell ill after dining here. This not only spoiled our evening but also disrupted the rest of our weekend. It’s shocking and unacceptable that a restaurant claiming to offer high-quality dining could fail so severely in maintaining basic hygiene and food safety standards. I cannot recommend this place and strongly urge the management to take immediate steps to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

My wife and I always try to have lunch here when visiting Bury St Eds but there are times when the dining area is full, yesterday we were in luck and found a vacant table. My wife ordered the quiche which was a good size and, to quote, was very nice. I had the Pilgrims rarebit thinking it would be a nice snack-sized lunch before continuing our shopping. What a surprise when it arrived; it was like a slightly reduced in size dinner main course and positively delicious in all respects. It was delivered to our table in good time by a lady waiting staff member who had a great sense of humour and, further, made us feel most welcome. Both my wife and I wondered how they could present meals of these proportions at their prices when, at least for my rarebit, I would feel it would be a few £s more in nearby cafes/restaurants.
