Cote Brasserie - Bury St Edmunds in St Edmundsbury

Food was good, but the service was hard to get to come to our table and the wine selection is lacking

There's this really awesome lady (don't know her name - possibly the Manager - she has a really friendly manner, dark hair and glasses) who provided us with a lovely welcome. She met us at the door, and spoke to our young boy (5 year old) straight away (she's clearly very good with children). She took us to our table which was in a really nice booth (and it was already fully prepared with a kids welcome activities pack/envelope and menu). She even went to get him a bottle of bubbles! She made him feel really special. I love so many things about this place. From the warm welcome (as described above), to our lovely waitress Emily, and food choice and quality. The venue was lovely too - and even though it's classy and perfect for adults/couples, I loved how it also fully catered for children (e.g. the activity pack envelope and menu choices). I can't recommend this place enough - and the Manager (if that's who she was - as described above) and waitresses like Emily really make this restaurant special.

Went recently, food cold, plates cold, order incorrect at starters and mains. Use to love it here, never again!

A group of us come to Bury Côte quite regularly and we really enjoyed the Tarte Tatin à la Provençale with Mediterranean vegetables. Ons suggestion which we all agreed would be an improvement would be to suggest that diners might like some sourdough bread with it. Either that or serve some at the same time as it was very ‘rich’.

As a vegetarian I am tired of going to restaurants and being treated as an inconvenience. At the Cote Bury St Edmund’s restaurant there were two options and one was a burger. If I went to French restaurant in France and asked for a burger they would say that a burger isn’t French food and they would be right. In this scenario it is a lazy way of trying an appease and inconvenience. Cote, if you don’t want vegetarian customers just be honest and say your not welcome rather than trying to fob us of with expensive rubbish.

Popped in for lunch as we love the chain in various locations in the South. Ordered a starter, two mains and one side. Mains came out to our surprise, starter order had been taken but fallen through the cracks. Waitress accepted responsibility and apologised. One decent main although more child sized and one really average main. Service charge was still on the bill, 75% order success rate I suppose! Over £50 for what we had. Disappointed and the only "meh" experience we have ever had at a Cote. Wished we had picked one of the many other establishments.

Very relaxing and great tasting food. If you want a special evening out where great food at reasonable prices then this is the place.

Everything was very nice. They have a comprehensive children's menu which was the reason we chose this place.

Lovely midweek family meal. The service was fantastic, very attentive staff who gave the impression that they did genuinely enjoy their jobs and were glad to be waiting our table. Food was served quickly, beautifully presented. Everything we ordered was eaten with enthusiasm. Thank you all. We will return.

Nice French style restaurant. Very slick service. Food was nicely prepared and served quickly. Portions were on the small side but we thought that was reflected in the pricing which was reasonable.

My favourite place in town. Went there for an anniversary dinner and really good. Food excellent. Service excellent. All round amazing.

Love Cote Bury st Edmund’s, foods always a good standard, but what really makes it is the staff. Always so warm and welcoming, you can tell they’re all happy to work there. Recently visited for a birthday lunch and a great fuss was made of us by everyone and even with balloon on the table.

Had lunch with my 2 children today at Côte Bury St Edmunds. We were all having a really tough day. My son was particularly struggling and the staff were absolutely brilliant with him (particularly Emily!). Thank you so much.

Excellent meal, very reasonable prices and everything we ordered was well cooked and tasty. But what really made the meal 5* was the service, our waitress and any staff we interacted with were all welcoming, polite and friendly. Very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.

We have been here a number of times over the last few months for breakfast or lunch. I am always really impressed. For a national chain I feel that their quality of food, service and replication of the French theme is excellent. They also do a number of set menus which offer a good value alternative. We like to go out for breakfast a couple of times a month and I have been a little disappointed with other places in town where they sometimes get something basic wrong. Not enough to complain but just enough to leave you a little annoyed. Cote Bury St Edmund’s is definitely our go to breakfast/brunch location at the moment. Well done guys.

I celebrated my Dad’s birthday here last year and also a Christmas meal. The food was exceptional matched closely by the service and attention to detail from the staff. A very enjoyable environment for dinner. The other customers were friendly and engaged in conversation which I really liked. This is my favourite restaurant.

Went as a group of friends for brunch, the venue is always very pleasant, clean and welcoming. The young waiter was very kind and courteous, the place was fairly quite, we were offered drinks, etc, all going well. One guest had some particular meal requests, the PDS machine caried by staff, seemed reluctant to cover these request, and the young man, tried his very best, and had to consult with the kitchen over a few items, the rest of us had no extra requests. When the pates came, they were cold, hence the food was cold, and with marble table tops, it was cold food. The ladies requests were wrong, items requested missing, items added not wanted. My eggs benedict had prosciutto ham, wrong taste and certainly wrong texture, again a cold plate. The other guest found the potatoes undercooked and not tasting good. It seemed to all of us a disappointing brunch, its not difficult to cook a tasty brunch, served on a warm plate, with the correct items, added and or deleted, the baked beans all looked as thought they had sat under a heat lamp too long ,the young man was extremely apologetic about the meal, he could not have been nicer or more efficient.. .

We are eating here a few times per month. Very good steak and the moules frites are our favorite. Lucky for us we are often able to get a table. Atmosphere is great; relaxed and comfortable.

Wonderful brunch a couple of weekends before Xmas. Easy online booking. Brunch deal £15 for a main, hot drink and juice was excellent value and everyone enjoyed the choices. Service was good and efficient without feeling rushed. A great clean venue with space around tables.

We went in here without a reservation, and they were quite busy. We were quickly seen too and given a table. The service from Leila was fantastic, she was on point in every way. We both ordered the Ribeye steak cooked to our individual tastes and they were both spot on and delicious. The fries were tasty although a tad small, the broccoli was recommended by Leila and was very tasty too. All round a very positive and pleasant first experience at a Côte restaurant. 10% service charged as standard.

Last minute meet up for Christmas, every where was booked up but here. Really pleasantly surprised. Very nice atmosphere, very attentive staff. The food was delicious.

Second visit here and I can highly recommend it. Nestled in Bury st Edmunds shopping area, so no long walk. The atmosphere is very calm, even when busy it still is very chilled. Staff are always friendly. The food is amazing and there's no long wait, they often have deals and if it's your first visit mention it to them and you get a free glass of bubbly.

Absolutely fantastic - from the moment you walk in you are made to feel so welcome, a wonderful atmosphere combined with what can only be described as exceptional service from all the team & paired with the most amazing food you cannot wait to return. We sometimes pop in for the French Onion soup alone (a must try)! Always consistent quality of food, wine and service. Despite being Christmas Eve and close to closing the staff were accommodating and friendly. Food was presented well.

This is the third year running that our group of friends (16 in total) decided to visit Cote for our Christmas lunch and as ever Cote did not let us down. The food was great and the service first class. Our waitress Amelia was very friendly and attentive, clearly brilliant at her job. We cannot thank her enough. The restaurant also had a lovely atmosphere which all in all made for an excellent lunch. Thank you.

We came here for my birthday and the food was amazing I had a fillet steak in a well known steakhouse in new York and this restaurant beat it absolutely fantastic...special mention to maddie and Helen.

Lovely food. Brilliant service , added to this went there again 04.22 service could not of been better, but unfortunately they have changed the wild mushroom sauce it used be really good but now it was so peppery it was mot nice and not much mushroom, you need pepper in a wild mushroom sauce. It is on the table to add if required, please adjust recipe back to how it used to be. Thanks

Stopped in Bury for breakfast and delighted to find Cote brasserie. Very professional and welcoming staff serving quality food and coffee, in a very comfortable restaurant.

For many years we didn't visit Cote (preferring independents). Then about a year ago we decided to give it a try. Yesterday evening was our fourth visit over the past 12 months. The quality of the food has been consistently outstanding, and the ambience and service top class. We visit France frequently, and I have rarely eaten food of the quality to match Cote.

Our go to mid range restaurant. Consistently good quality food, value for money and excellent service, no complaints.

Had lunch here yesterday. Lovely food, atmosphere great and brilliant service. In particular our waitress, Andrea, was very good - attentive but not “pushy” as some places can be. She was fun and professional. All the staff were good. Wrong dessert brought out but quickly rectified.

It’s not a first time we meeting our family. Very enjoyable service. Please do visit them, service is 5⭐️team is very polite and professional. Thank you for your hospitality.

We had dinner here Friday evening with family. Waiting staff good. Unfortunately the bill has increased dramatically and the food portions are now undersized. Food cold and underwhelming. We won't be back until Côte ups the standard.

Just another chain. Nice staff but mediocre food.

My steak felt like a flip flop it was very rough and grey and hairy, and by hairy I mean the chefs hair was in my mouth. Chips were decent. Garlic butter was the only thing with flavour but that’s not difficult. Staff were nice tho ( should wear hair nets)

Lovely French onion soup and garlic bread. Plus home-made soda was also excellent.

The whole experince was amazing our waitress Emily was so lovely and she really took her time with us, and gave us loads of amazing recommendations I’ve never had that experience going out for dinner, and all the other waitresses where so welcoming especially the manager as well the sweetest lady she was so welcoming when we arrived we where so pleased and happy with our time and the food came out so quickly and everything else was perfect.

Absolutely gorgeous as usual, We always go to cotes bury st Edmunds for all our birthdays and other occasions. The service is wonderful as is the food. We had a fantastic time last night for my birthday they went above and beyond. Thank you very much for everything. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had a lovely breakfast this morning. Food was fantastic and the service was of high standard. Would recommend.

Very welcoming from the beginning to end. Very attentive staff without being invasive. I had the Crab Maison, Beef Cheek bourguignon and chocolate fondant. All of which were delicious. My husband had the French onion soup, fish stew and cheese board and we shared a beautiful bottle of red wine. This was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. Will definitely return.

We ate here for our anniversary dinner, having not eaten at Cote before, despite having been in the area for many years. Whilst we cannot fault the service or the atmosphere, which was refreshingly busy for a mid week evening, the food failed to live up to our expectations. The calamari was over-cooked, the scallops and peas bland. For main, we could not discern any rosemary in the rosemary chips and the beef bourguignon was very disappointing. Cloying and heavy in a most unpleasant way. Overall, it was a forgettable experience and one we will not be revisiting. There are far better places to eat in Bury.

Me and my partner came in for dinner, Amelia was our waitress and she was lovely! Amelia made us feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needing to have a good experience.

Whilst we are what I'd call irregular regulars we were greeted by the manager with a smile and a friendly welcome. The restaurant was busy with a nice ambience. Jazz our waitress was brilliant, she was spot-on, chatty, attentive and knowledgeable when we needed her. To be honest between her and the restaurant manager they turned a good night into a great one. They are both a credit to your business. The food and drink were at the standard we have come to expect from Cote and we'd thoroughly recommend friends and family visit.

Always love this restaurant and consistent in its food and service. Our waitress was accommodating as all of us had different needs ! Nothing was a problem for her .

Worst food at any cote ever! the salmon dish must have been a 100g portion - completely ridiculous size and exceptionally bad value for money. Moules frites were cold and rubbery, sauce nearly non-existent, asked for more but by the time it came out i had nearly finished. The additional sauce was a flavourless white sauce with some weird white bits in (onions?) the sauce was vile, as if it was a base and they had forgotten to add the rest of the ingredients. YUK. teh sizer of that salmon - honestly it was laughable. Awful meal will not be going back. 😟

We really enjoyed the fixed price menu here of salade au bacon followed by chargrilled chicken breast - very nice indeed washed down with two glasses of chardonnay. Top service. Well-recommended.

Had a really lovely meal here a few nights ago with special friends. Not too crowded as mid week. Service was good with a casual banter which was friendly. Would definitely go there again.

All courses on the Prix Fixe lunch were delicious and great value -- with welcoming and efficient service from start to finish. Interior feels and looks a lot more spacious, high quality and light than it does on the photo on their website and in these reviews. Highly recommend.

I took my daughter here today and I have to say everything was perfect. They had birthday confetti on the table for her, the food was the best food I have had in a long time. The wine was lovely and smooth. The lady who served us was so lovely too. We had a great time

From the moment my mum and I walked into the restaurant we where greeted by a big smile from our 'to be' waitress. After this we where shown to our table. The waitress was super! Could not fault her service and attention to detail. It was my mums birthday and it was because she always used to travel to France with my late father on holidays that she chose this restaurant. She was over the moon with it. My mum had seen a cocktail that she had seen on the website and struggled to describe it. The waitress (forgive me I forgot her name, bit she is the one with a big smile and bright red hair) went and spoke to a bar tender. They then come out with a drink they would recommend based on the flavours and kind of day it was (a bit muggy outside). Mum loved it and it was in the end gifted as a birthday treat for her which was a really nice touch. Bravo on a great meal and the atmosphere that was created by your staff!

Just been to Cotes in bury saint Edmonds for a birthday dinner and the food and amazing staff was perfect.

Lovley food, Fish Briton soup full of flavour, and a great portion for the cost, my Husband had Steak Frit, perfectly cooked with a good selection of sauces if required, staff polite and professional, even our Dog Honey got treats and a bowl of water, even thou this is a chain, other Cotes could see how well this branch delivers really great customer service.

We came in and waited to be seated. After being looked at by three separate members of staff, not one of them bothered to even acknowledge us or just give a simple “Sorry, won’t be a minute” Poor, very poor. Bad service before you even take your seat . We turned and left and went somewhere else.

A magical meal. The staff were wonderful and we spent four hours in the restaurant.

The Breton Fish Stew was excellent and the Fish Pie was pleasant without being a stand out. For the quality the food is good value. The service was attentive without being over bearing. I will definitely return . I don't know what's wrong with Google but I wanted to press four and five stars but it would only register one and two or none at all.

Food ok, but service not what we have come to expect from Cote, especially reaching over the table across diners. Was also often difficult to attract someone's attention.

First time here with family. Nice relaxed atmosphere, service with a smile! Great experience and exceptional food and drinks. Extensive cheese and wine menu and accompaniment of main, starter and shared dishes. Will definitely return!!

Brilliant meal and great service. Desserts are highly recommended (we had 6 desserts for a table of 4).

Really didn't rate this place. The food was poorly cooked and looked cheap. The price though, far from it. I wouldn't recommend.

The quality of the food is not great anymore, Corners have been cut and not very appealing. Charcuterie board was limited with sausage where you had to remove tough skins and the baked Camembert was inedible…sticking to local places with a focus on the customer from now on…

The food was well overpriced and of inferior quality. The portions were very small, of the mussels 12 weren’t even open, the Beef dish was 75% fat and gristle, sent it back. The kitchen is obviously badly run with poor management, I guess many dishes are precooked, bought in boil in the bag or microwave jobs, certainly no so called’Chef’ running the kitchen. Our bill was £205 PLUS 10% service charge, what a rip off.

I love love love this place . It is my go to in Bury and it is so consistently good that I go with various groups of friends at least once a month . The staff are beyond fabulous and I would highly recommend!

Lovely service- our waitress Emily was so nice and attentive, all the staff were very friendly. My favourite was the sharing dessert (Apple Tart). The Duck a l'Orange was also a very good choice for the main. Excellent place worth coming back. Thank you to all the staff for the nice evening!

Good To check that the food is as described on the menu I email reference a discrepancy on the menu. A group of us dined at the Bury St Edmunds restaurant at 1.45 on Sunday, the booking was in the name of Joanna Godfrey. Booked by Curtis (very helpful chap) I ordered the Poulet Grille with Watercress, when my meal was served it was served with Rocket, which has a very strong flavour and did not compliment the dish in the same way. I mentioned it to the server, who thought they probably had run out - this should have been mentioned when she took our order. I ordered this on the basis of the specific accompaniments and I am also not a particular lover of rocket, so this was all a bit disappointing. More than happy for establishments to substitute items and ingredients, not everything is available all the time - but just make customers aware!

This was the first time we visited côte and it was lovely. We will certainly visit again. The dishes are beautifully presented and tasty! It was a shame that the tartiflette was not on the menu. I was looking forward to this

Beautiful mirrored setting along a charming pedestrian street in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. Food was seasoned perfectly and presented well. Steak for 2 was plenty. The gratin potatoes were a favorite!

Good food and atmosphere, but very busy, so service was a bit distracted.

Expensive add-ons,luke warm steak and coffee. Very nice latte but not hot enough. Asked what sauce we wanted with steak but wasn't informed it was £2.75 plus the 10%,it was almost cold. The minute steak was barely warm and a fifth of it was the fat at top. Very small portion of fries. The dessert ,Plum calfoutis was excellent. Service was very pleasant and not rushed.
