Our go to place for a hot drink and a bite to eat, especially as they are dog friendly. Lovely, helpful staff and the food is good too. The sausage rolls are a firm favourite 😍

Very pleasant and friendly staff and a lovely gluten free carrot cake yummy, only reason it ain't 5 stars is It was full and where we were sitting I felt a little packed in but that's just me, I like my space.

Just popped in for a hot chocolate, it was lovely. Was served very quickly and seen as soon as I walked in 😊. Very friendly

Very nice present place worth a visit

Wow, just passed this city because of a car service. This place is lovely, and dog friendly, the staff is more than nice, the coffee was good and the Croissant was great too. I like these random moments where you can find a gem inside the garbage bag. Loved it!

Visited today and ordered thejr specials vegetarian rosti brunch and it was sooooo delicious. There was a mistake with my order and they gave me extra Rositis and a cake and we’re so accommodating. Coffee is delicious too. The owners are so hospitable. Thanks so much!

Best matcha latte I've had in the UK 🤩 I ordered it with coconut milk and it was so delicious. Big sized mug and a lovely atmosphere inside the cafe. It's dog friendly and they didn't mind me using my laptop. Bright but cosy, with friendly staff.

All we had was perfect. Ice coffee with cream, white coffee, scone with cream and especially the avocado wrap! Probably best I’ve ever had.

We drove up from Essex yesterday, like we do every year for a girlie pre-Christmas day out… and we stopped here as our first port of call for our lunch. And it now definitely did not disappoint! After just a short wait (very well worth it) we were seated to our table near the window looking out to the Abbey. While we had been waiting a lovely, lovely waitress offered us menus to browse, and she made my day when she told me the soup of the day was potato and leek (I was very excited lol) My daughter and bestfriend both had the salmon and cream cheese bagel (both saying was the best they’ve ever had) and my soup was sublime 👌🏻 And our hot chocolates were also super delicious! 10/10 for service, atmosphere, food, drink… everything! Good for a coffee and a fruit scone after shopping

Just had two coffees and two bacon rolls. Absolutely marvellous. Food excellent. Impeccably clean. Great coffee. And brilliant staff.

We were in Bury St Edmunds for the weekend, our first morning we came here and it was so good that we decided to come back again the next morning! The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the breakfast bagel or the eggs Benedict. The coffee was also very nice. The staff were great, so welcoming and attentive. Both morning we arrived shortly after opening, and it didn’t take long to get busy, clearly a local favourite and it’s understandable why!

My grandfather was stationed in Bury St. Edmond during WWII. Came here to visit and found No 5 Angel Hill as a spot to eat breakfast. Everything was absolutely delicious, great staff, very warm and welcoming. Best breakfast I’ve had in England.

Visited here recently, the prices were extortionate. You get very small portions with extremely bland food charged at a very high price. A bagel, with eggs and salmon was £10.50 (without a drink) and tasted like it was cooked without ANY flavour or even salt for that matter. Coffee was also overpriced like the rest of the menu and on top of this staff could’ve been more polite. If the prices are going to be this high, it would be acceptable if the food tasted good. I don’t normally write reviews, but this was truly disappointing. Nothing personal to the company or those that work there, but considering money is tight amongst the British public, it really did feel a waste.

Good coffee and even better cakes

Got the “benny” or eggs Benedict with bacon. Was like £9.95 or something, was absolutely loaded with bacon like sheesh 😮‍💨, in a good way. Also got an iced latte which was as expected, deliciously refreshing on a rarely hot and sunny English day. It’s a pay and order at the till type of service which is great if you don’t like waiting for the server to come around with a card reader. Good atmosphere and staff!

Amazing brunch - pretzel buns are to die for, Baileys chocolate, yum - and the staff are so lovely and welcoming. What a great place to dine.

Definitely my favourite place in Bury St Edmunds. Staff are really lovely. I usually have a coffee and croissant for breakfast for a great start to the day. Today I was there for lunch and had the salmon quiche with salad. Very delicious! Highly recommended.

We met here for family brunch on Sunday as it’s a handy midpoint for us all. We were a bit apprehensive as we were a large group and it was our first visit, but there was no need to worry. The lovely Tania made us feel immediately welcome, finding a table big enough for us all and taking the time to explain the menu, as well as letting us taste the hollaindaise sauce before we committed to ordering it (it was delicious, light and airy). The food was all brought out together and tasted like it had been prepared with a little sprinkle of love and high-quality ingredients. I was impressed with one more thing: once we had finished we were not rushed or made to feel like we needed to vacate the table. We were left to chat and enjoying catching up, without any pressure to purchase further food or drink (though we did order cakes…they too were delectable). Love it here...what more can I say. The cafe is open in the park plenty to do, see and lots of places open the nursery for one which I did not even know was there. Great place always visit when there - a must see

Breakfast and coffee are always really good here. Service is excellent and dogs are welcome. I can recommend the cheese scones or the avo, bacon and egg on sourdough ... yummy!

Best cafe in the area, superb eggs benedict (better than any other establishment we have ever visited!), smiling and helpful server, extremely comfortable seats and best view of the town. Perfect all round! Wonderful cakes on offer and the coffee was excellent. Will definitely be back.

I love this place, no..i adore this place! My children are always welcomed. The cakes are truly magnificent There is no place i would rather spend an hour in the town centre. If only every establishment tried as hard to be the best they could be.

Nice café, small portions for the price

Wow, what a great place for a break. I'd heard good things about No. 5 and found them all to be true. We were quickly seated with menus listing lots of lovely things and chose fresh scones & tea for two... but declined the clotted cream and its extra calories! Soon the huge teapot arrived, warm scones, butter, jam and milk. We drank and ate with a view and warmed inside this friendly venue; a venue deserving plenty of visitors to enjoy the effort they make in getting service just right. Thank you all, see you ASAP.

Amazing food & drink selection and quality is fantastic. Happy, helpful staff with quick service Only minor downside is they allow dogs in the restaurant which seemed a bit out of place to me considering house nice the place is and how close tables are. Don't let that put you off though, definitely recommend

Great location; food is hot and miss and is very limited selection wise. Bacon butty is good; sometimes burnt. Ad a ghastly onion soup there once. Really basic stuff is likely ok. Nice people and busy - fun to to for coffee, maybe not lunch.

Such a lovely place the food is so nice all freshly made and I could take my dog in with me which was great as wasvto hot to sit outside .

Excellent gluten free bacon roll with a really generous amount of well-cooked bacon. I was very surprised with how good the gluten free bread was as it had a very similar texture to regular bread. More sauce could have been added to the roll, but that's just personal preference.

We enjoyed a brief morning stop into No 5 Angel Hill. Our food was delicious and the service was wonderful. I wanted to try all the pastries but was full from my main dish.

Great coffee and cake. Very busy but service was quick. Lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Quirky furniture recycled from airplane parts even a double plane seat at one of the tables. This is our 3rd visit and hope to visit Bury again soon. Would highly recommend this wonderful cafe 😊

What an amazing place. Food was delicious. We had sausage roll, smoked salmon bagel, chocolate brownie and carrot cake. There’s a really great selection of food though so it was hard to know what to choose. The cakes were to die for! Coffee was also really good. Lovely friendly staff and really nice ambience. We will be coming back and highly recommend

Had a great breakfast here today. Presentation was good and the food was really tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful and we noticed they were flexible over when they finished serving breakfast. A good place to people watch on Angel Hill.

Take away coffee took more than 15 minutes wait! For one coffee 🙄I’m sure apart from this lovely place but not one for a grab coffee!

The most delicious afternoon tea, freshly prepared by a very talented team! Everything tasted sensational and we were expertly looked after from the moment we arrived. Nothing was to much trouble and the cakes were some of the best we’ve ever tried !!! Thank you for helping us to celebrate our special occasion in style!!! We were all blown away!!

Excellent sconces, enjoyed them with fresh cream and jam. Topped it off with top quality coffee. Great experience, wonderful ambience, prompt service.

Why can I only award 5 stars, so many more are deserved! From lunch on Saturday, which included “the best scotch egg I have ever eaten”as declared by one of the party, to the most delicious leisurely Sunday breakfast today. My only regret? That this delightful place is too far from London for me to pop in every day. Maybe it’s to relocate…

Lovely little coffee shop opposite the Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds. Menu isn't over big, but what they make they do well. A great selection of cakes too. Staff were very friendly and we had a lovely chat with an old guy in the shop. Would definitely go back.
