Queens Bar & Grill in St Edmundsbury

Great place for Saturday brunch, Sunday roast, Burgers, Afternoon tea and Surf & turf. We have been eating here for years and have loved everything we have tried. One of the only places I have visited with a large group of family members where everyone unanimously agreed it was the best meal they have had & still talk about it years later. Service is great & staff a friendly, if you haven't eaten here you need to!

It’s worth the drive or flight! Never disappoints.

As regular customers with our dog we highly recommend this bar and grill for a tasty generous meal. We are always well looked after and Zoe deserves a 5star review 😊. They do get busy but worth waiting for when they are. We will be back soon 😊 Robert

Had heard about their Sunday Lunch Platters and the lunch did not disappoint. Both the quality and quantity was spot on (don't need a starter or dessert). Everything from the greens to the meat was really tasty. Best cauliflower cheese I have ever had. Service was really friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go again and not just for the Sunday lunch

Very painful late lunch experience. 3 front of hour staff on to look after about 3 tables yet we still had to wait 40 minutes for a couple of burgers and not once did anyone come over to make sure we were OK or to apologize for the wait. To add insult to injury when we wanted to pay all three of the waiting staff vanished leaving us sitting there like idiots as we didn't even really want to hand over our money! I very nearly got up and left! After a promising start this place is really going down hill, there doesn't seem to be the same level of passion for good food or service as there used to be which is a great shame. Perhaps if the owner spent less time online trying to be an influencer and more time on his existing business ventures it might help.

Excellent service Zoe was brilliant and the food was outstanding

Opted for butter chicken & maple syrup butter. Chicken was burnt and dry, maple syrup non existent and burger very greasy in all. Sweet potato chips were ok. Strawberry daiquiri very overpriced at £9.50 for a tiny glass! Best part about it all was they don’t charge a service charge!

Would not recommend the burgers here. Wholly unseasoned and undercooked. I don't know how the fries look like they got flavor on them but taste so bland and cold. Like a light dusting of paprika was just tossed on top after they were placed in the container. The servers seemed confused when I walked in and I didn't know who was serving me for a couple minutes though the one who did was kind, she was also difficult to get a hold of. I had to wait in the corner trying to wave and catch someone's eye for a good fifteen to twenty minutes every time I needed something. It's a pretty pub otherwise and I'm sure it's better for drinks and deserts as that's what I'm seeing in most pictures but I didn't get dessert as I didn't want to sit there for another long hour.

Great atmosphere, great staff, really clean and welcoming, food was great and everyone was smiling, highly recommend going for good food and drink

Really nice place. Staff very friendly and great drinks. Food a bit disappointing on Saturday 20/4. Ran out of ribs so that limits the menu to burgers and a few other dishes. I chose the macaroni cheese , apart from it tasting good it was as dry as a nun's chuff which was a bit disappointing. My friends burgers looked and tasted lovely but one friend's steak was chewy and loads gristle which is unusual.

Sunday roast was good. The people who paid £17 for a small chicken burger felt cheated. The menu didn't suggest in any way it was a burger. Certainly not as advertised. Atmosphere was fine, if you look closely it looks tired and corners cut. It it was on average £14 per main it would be outstanding. But its £18 for a main, and at that price you want something more special.

Pleasant diner atmosphere with nice staff. Shame about the London prices for average fair. A single slice of black pudding with poached egg = £8; a chicken burger with fries £17.50 (and not even advertised as a burger...). Recommend if you have money to burn.

One of the best Sunday lunches for a while. Delicious smoked beef, soft pork. Lovely roasties and worth ordering the cauliflower cheese. Lovely to have extra gravy without asking.

8 of us had dinner here last night. As always the food, cocktails, service and atmosphere superb. Well looked after by all the team.

Sunday Dinner Nice place . Staff very friendly. Prices a bit high. Sunday dinner. I opted for the beef roast. It was a standard dinner with very little flavour or actually none. The Beef was tough , the veg over cooked . Cauliflower cheese was over cooked and lacked a cheese sauce. Yorkshire pudding was hard . The gravy tasted like brown water. The whole dinner had no taste at all. Very disappointing would I recommend this place. Definitely not, unless you like a very overpriced Sunday dinner. With no flavour or taste to it

Pre Christmas get together for 7 of us. Order placed, starters came, very nice. Took an age for the mains and an extra 10 minutes for the last person to be served, why should bangers and mash take so long. In all honesty, we won't be back. Such a shame.

A group of 20+ colleagues attended the Queens for our Christmas social. The service was friendly and the food was excellent. We ate from the 3 course set menu and everyone enjoyed each dish and the range was good, with something for everyone regardless of preference or dietary requirements. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb main course and the deserts especially were a hit. The mini chocolate Christmas puddings post dinner really were the fairy on the Christmas tree! Highly recommended.

While staying in the area for work, I visited here. Have visited a couple of times and both times not been disappointed. Fantastic food, a good verity of drinks. Excellent customer service. Great atmosphere. Being on my own or just two of us on a week day didn't bother to book and managed to get a table both times. I'd recommend booking if large group or weekend as I'd imagine it gets very busy although there is ample seating.

Lovely roast dinner with roast beef, which was smoked. Absolutely wonderful. Also had a cauliflower cheese, which was glorious. Loads of good quality food. We ordered a bottle of rioja, which was terrible, but this was changed, and we were charged the same amount for a slightly better bottle of red.

Just stopped here for lunch. Great ambience and service. I was disappointed that the ribs were not on the lunch menu, however they sorted it for me and they were absolutely delicious along with everything else we had.

Came in for 6 o’clock ordered for by 6:50pm we were still waiting for our mains at 8pm, we asked the waitress how long our food would be to be told at least another 10 to 15 minutes, after this the manager came over and told us in a rather stand offish manner, that there were over 20 other tickets waiting for food as well as ours. When taking our order we weren’t told of any waiting times The manager tone and behaviour made us feel very uncomfortable so we left the restaurant We won’t be coming back

Organised my leaving meal at Queens with up to 25 people for dinner and more people for drinks. The team were really lovely and really organised. All pre orders came out correctly and the bill was completely very efficiently. The service was incredible through out the night, and staff were really friendly. I would deffo recommend to others, as the food was also top quality.

Called in Saturday lunch time with wife and daughter, all enjoyed our food. Tasty burger and focaccia. Sort of hidden away in a Bury side street. Good food and great service.

Just out of this world. The whole extent was amazing. We had starter's and a main and was way to full for pudding.

Came for a Saturday evening meal. The atmosphere was good when we entered, with interconnecting grill and bar areas. We had not bboked, but they found us a table. The staff were attentive. The menu was interesting with sharing dishes, mains and burgers. We all went cor the lamb disk pf the day, which was from their own farm. Very well presented and very tasty. The wine list was also very good and we enjoyed a fine Pinot Noir. A very enjoyable, in a relaxing atmosphere with great food, drink and professional staff. We will certainly be coming back soon.

Best Sunday roast lunch we’ve had out for a long time. Hot, tasty and delicious. Service was excellent. Beautiful selection of cocktails. Get the sticky toffee pudding for dessert!

We tried the Willy Wonka themed Afternoon Tea and OMG. Whoever thought of this is amazing !! It's a sugar addicts dream 🤣 The chocolate scones were incredible.

Decided to go here after my son’s driving test on a recommendation from one of his friends and we were not disappointed. Phoned to check availability, turned up 10 minutes later, lovely greeting. Food was just fantastic, had steak, Queens Burger n mixed combo between the 3 of us and couldn’t fault one single thing. Nothing too much trouble, including trying to work out carbs for my insulin based diabetic sin. Dessert was equally excellent. Would happily recommend to anyone.

We ate here to celebrate my 30th birthday on a Friday night. The food was delicious, with the only downside being that it did take a while to come to the table even though the restaurant wasn’t busy to the eye. Drinks were great and we had just about everything on the menu with lots of highlights. We hope to come back soon when we have a little more time to play with if this wasn’t just a staffing oversight. Other than that I can recommend the bar & grill

We have dined here many times but Thursday evening was a nightmare for both me & my husband, within half an hour in getting home we had the most horrendous food poisoning showing itself , we have never felt so ill, my husband had chemo & was never sick! We were advised to ring the Queens who were not at all sympathetic and were very defensive up to the point suggested we had picked it up a few days prior, we had been with friends for a few days & eaten exactly the same until our evening at the Queens. Every cloud has a silver lining though as we both lost half a stone & still cannot face food.🤮🤮

Stopped for pre-dinner drinks and to watch the rugby. A good choice of drinks and a good seat to watch the match and a lovely buzzt atmosphere all round.

For some bizarre reason we have never visited the the Queens Grill, probably due to our perception it was like the old pub. We were so wrong They accommodated our booking after I messed up the booking date which was appreciated We were warmly welcomed. We were very surprised and pleased as to the extent of the menu and the wine selection We had lamb bon bons and Haloumi fries which were both very tasty for starters For main course we both had a rack/half of ribs. They were delicious. The meat fell from the bone, the sauce/glaze very nice.. The most important thing is that all dishes were served piping hot which impressed us We will be returning and I can see on numerous to try the various items we like on the menu Rebecca and Ben have a very nice restaurant.

I cannot comment on the food here as we only had a few drinks during the daytime and used the Pool table at the rear of the building. The staff we encountered where all friendly,good selection of drinks available,nicely decorated throughout and clean etc.... Pool table needs levelling,all the balls roll to one side lol and you need some decent cues but great otherwise thanks 👍 we still enjoyed our time in you're establishment and would definitely return.

Food was delicious but service was terrible and staff were rude. Attended for my birthday with family and waited over half an hour to get drinks after ordering and over an hour for mains. Asked for a second round of drinks whilst waiting which were then forgotten with no apologies, and the bill was bought to us whilst waiting for desserts arrive which took over 40 mins after ordering. Just seemed as though the staff couldn’t care less! Strange as it was a Sunday afternoon and not particularly busy, and a shame as I’ve been before and loved it.

We booked last minute- this was our 1st visit to Queens. We were served by Jazmyn who was really friendly, helpful and polite. We went for the chicken burgers- the flavour combined with the maple bacon was just the best. If things couldn’t get any better, the desert of sticky toffee pudding blew us away! We were lucky enough to book a last minute table for 2 here and, as always, were not disappointed. The food is just delicious and service spectacular. We were served by Memphis who was so knowledgeable and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble regarding our gluten free requests which is so appreciated. There is even a separate GF menu which has so much choice. All the staff at Queen's are just amazing and so friendly. We look forward to our next visit!

Called in last night on the off chance of getting a table, as we were just wandering round town looking at the Christmas lights. They'd only just opened for evening service so we were the first ones in the restaurant. Very friendly staff, we were brought a bottle of water for the table as soon as we sat down, which is something I always like. I ordered the chicken burger and my partner went for the BBQ beef burger, both were delicious, and the seasoned fries that came with them were very tasty as was the homemade slaw. Portion size was just right and it meant we had a little bit of room to try a dessert - so glad we did! We both went for the toffee apple sponge, which came with a homemade brandy snap biscuit, ice-cream and apple caramel sauce, the sponge was so light and tasted amazing. It was our first time in Queens but it definitely won't be our last. Good atmosphere as we left with Christmas parties arriving.

What a fantastic place to spend an evening! Staff are efficient and friendly, it’s great to see they really take Covid seriously. We spent the evening here and the food was stunning, probably my favourite meal out in Bury St Edmunds this year! As a table of four we were late booking on a Friday night, more through availability than pre-thought choice, but what a find. We’ve really struggled to find good food and good service at the same local and not so local venues coming out of lockdown but Queen’s had it nailed. Excellent customer service from Molly, supplemented by her colleagues who (like her) were engaged, friendly, discrete, informed and funny at the same time - well done guys. The food was fab, stand out nachos, pigeon & terrine for starters, followed by ribs & the smokehouse board - well presented, perfectly cooked, hot food, well seasoned and very tasty - all served at the same time. Really liked the local produce on the menu and that Molly & her colleagues could talk to it. Great, slightly quirky bistro/brasserie on a side street in Bury St Edmunds well worth the trip - we’ll be back to try the rest of the menu soon. It would be great to see others striving to deliver something similar

First time we have had a Sunday lunch at the Queens and it was absolutely lovely. First of all, I have to mention the staff. Rob and his team always make people feel extremely welcome and they are always so attentive and polite. Also worth noting is that the place is absolutely spotlessly clean and Covid measures are firmly in place.We had a beef roast dinner with all of the trimmings and a great selection of vegetables, and to be honest, we never left a scrap on the plate. If we could have licked the plates clean, we would have done so.We will certainly be back soon. Brilliant Sunday lunch.

We had our anniversary meal here in August and it was superb. The staff were knowledgeable, service was quick and the food was amazing. I had Ben's bangers and my husband had the featherblade steak. He said it was the best steak he's ever had.

We had a great meal here with friends about a year ago but our visit yesterday topped the previous meal by far. The menu was varied enough to suit all tastes. This means we can go again with other friends who may not necessarily enjoy dishes like duck or pigeon but will enjoy ribs or burgers. And I am sure everyone will love the desserts! A good menu, great food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

We came here for dinner. There was a warm welcome on arrival, staff were friendly and efficient. Food choices were great - not quite the same menu as the website, but all good ones - and the quality of dishes was really good. Reasonable value food and drink, and it's all on their website so we knew that in advance.Great decor, good atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit.
