I was delighted to find that I had been accepted for a kitchen assistant/van driver role at the great hampers it has had an amazing reputation in bury for its yummy sandwich's for years. I’ve worked in hospitality for 3-4 years previously and really enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly environment. Of course working under pressure sometimes also. It’s a shame my experience with hampers wasn’t as positive. When I first started I expected to be shown the ropes and shown there way of working everything I was shown I took on board and tried to follow Elio’s lead and felt ok. But as time went on I felt that I was nit picked over everything that I did I expected that as the new girl this would pass after a few weeks. I literally could not move without Elio’s beedy eyes on me and judging every move I made it was very uncomfortable for me and I felt a massive amount of pressure. The last straw was being asked to make a latte, bearing in mind that I’d made coffees on the barista machine for years at a previous work place. But of course I was doing it wrong! And Elio proceeded to turn up the heat on the steam and the milk got very hot very fast and started to bubble and spilt over. Resulting in it going all over the floor. This made me feel so uncomfortable and pressured I was quite flustered 😩 Upon my return to the kitchen I was given no kind words of are u ok or do you want to take a breather? Instead I was asked why the milk bubbled over and then told that it was rubbish that I’d been taught to boil the milk slowly to stop the milk burning and that Elio’s 40 years of experience was superior to how I’d been taught. When I explained how I’d been taught in a calm manor I was told not to argue like a child. I explained that was how I was taught there was no argument. I was clearly distressed and on the verge of tears. I walked out at that moment and broke down in my car. I think it’s safe to say that I did not return. The thing that got to me the most was that I had no contact from them to ask if I was ok or check in on me I simply received my payslip and p45 the next day via email. By far this has been my worst experience in any of my work environments. I thought that HR are supposed to create a safe and fair work space for all employees and consider the mental health effects of how staff are treated. The owner of shop needs to really take on board that his way isn’t the only way.

Excellent staff, very clean and tidy, food is really good, homemade scotch egss and sausage rolls highly recommend for lunch

Had a load of sandwiches made for a work do this weekend and hampers did not disappoint! Overflowing sandwich’s, tasted very yummy, plates and all sorts added too! Which was really thoughtful. I would thoroughly recommend! Thank you very much x

I had the toasted tuna, cheese and onion panini for lunch, an apple and an oat latte. The ingredients were fresh, good portions and all delicious. I paid 8.20 which I thought it was a fair and a reasonable price. Also the ladies serving are very nice and courteous. The space is not very big but has enough space as most people tend to order take way (also has 2 tables outside which I got to enjoy in a lovely sunshiny day) . It was the first time I came here, but I would definitely recommend and I would come back! Thank you!

Not always friendly (but mostly) and great sandwiches as long as your don’t have any allergies. They didn’t know what was in their scotch eggs, even though that’s a legal requirement. No effort was taken to find out because “they don’t make them there” Food good otherwise

Best sandwiches ever and cheap aswell

What an absolute little gem of a sandwich shop! Had a few baps and rolls from here now and the food is always superb and deli fresh. Even tried the cakes today and much to our surprise were fantastic! Makes for a nice little treat when working from home.

Review from 2018 - 5-stars: I have a sandwich or a plated salad every Friday, and their food is always fresh and good quality, plus you always get decent portions of filling. I would highly recommend Hampers to any and everyone Review from November 2021 - 3-stars: The business was recently been sold, but prices have gone up and portions and quality of food has gone down, so I am now re-considering my options for our Friday sandwiches.

Very nice, and helpful too. Just ordered a bake potato with coronation chicken which wasn't on their board. No problem at all.

Pop in her regularly for my lunch, easy to place an order and pop in and collect. Staff are always friendly and a great choice to choose from.

Just had the most delicious chicken salad roll the roll was lovely and soft and stuffed with different fillings.

Pretty good!! Great coffee, totally surprised how good it was, sandwiches to order with loads of choices all made freshly on site. Can’t go wrong here, no wonder it’s the local lunchtime spot!

Not ideal for ordering ahead of time, ordered crispy bacon and they gave chicken mayo. No change was given for a tenner, complete disgrace.

We popped into the Morton Hall site for a takeaway lunch for 4 adults & a child. I have visited the other shop before but this was my first visit here. I appreciate the order was varied, with lots of different choices but there was no service with a smile on offer here. The atmosphere in the other establishment has always been very good compared to my experience here. All food ordered was good & great value for money.

Lovely staff and brilliant sandwiches, can't believe I walked out with a baguette the size of a toddler and a bag of crisps for under a fiver. Winner winner chicken dinner

The new sandwich shop on Moreton Hall is amazing! Myself and my colleagues go there almost every day - there is so much choice and everything we have had so far has been delicious - we have also had a couple of superb business buffets - and the lovely staff make our visits all the more enjoyable - thank you everyone at Hampers

Great Food, service & staff in both shops.

We visited the new Moreton Hall sandwich shop on Saturday on the way home, was a nice change to just drive up to the unit compared to fighting for parking in town. Really nice , lovely people, you can also sit in and eat , have a coffee , was nice to get a good choice compared to the supermarket fixed choice meal deals, boring after a while. I hope this goes really well for them, too marks

having been going for years and always had great service I have to say today I was disappointed to be charged 50p for a sprinkling of lettuce

Dios mío esta tienda está llena de ingredientes frescos y personal muy amable que no escatiman en el relleno que no consigue su dinero vale la pena. Tuvimos un rollo de tocino y con increíble bacon apisonada cata! ! Tenían existencias de bebidas y buena bolsa si patatas fritas extrañas y maravillosas. Me alegro de encontrar esta joya. Y lo vamos a volver más y más.

Had my first (not my last) filled french stick from Hampers yesterday, amazing variety of fillings so chose the Corned beef, coleslaw and salad... fresh, tasty and the lady whom served was cheery with a smile, lovely job Hampers and see you soon Neil

As a treat every week we treat ourselves to a Hampers at work. Sometimes we can order as little as 4 sandwiches and sometimes as many as 10. We always get them delivered in a reasonable time with plenty of filling in fresh bread.

This is my 2nd Visit after my friend recommended this amazing place. Great friendly staff that actually listen to your order unlike other places.. And really good banter with the ladies. Thanks for my amazing lunch I will be back soon 😃

Been eating here for years. Always met with a lovely welcome by the ladies in the shop. Great normal sandwiches to pick from. Well worth keeping o an eye on the specials board as these often prove to be very good. I shouldn't - but the scotch eggs are very good especially just cooked Thank you ladies

I stopped in for a sandwich in December and found the shop hard to get into. The road access is from behind via an industrial estate, and parking is very limited. It was made harder on the day by the shop's own van being parked on the corner where the road narrows limiting the approach to the 2 or 3 spaces available. Inside the shop is simple, and while there are a few seats, it is obvious this is a take-away outlet. The service was above average, and the seafood sandwich was freshly made and of a good standard. They were out of baps on the day so I had a baguette which was fresh and soft. The choices overall did seem a little limited, however. All in all a 3.5 with the sandwich being the bright point of the visit.

Really nice little sandwich shop, staff are really nice and the sandwiches are awesome and great value for money. They do great coffee too, the Hazelnut Latte is pretty tasty. For a quick bite to eat, this is a must visit.😀

I have been coming to Hampers believe it or not for 20 years, the food is always fresh and the bread is to die for, the staff are super friendly, if I had to make one negative comment it would be the sandwiches are too cheap, £2.05 for a fresh hand made chicken, mayo and tomato sandwich,

i have no idea what that plank was talking about??? obviously professional complaint!! I have worked in many areas for many garages and to be honest I haven't been in a more cleaner and "happy to help" attitude sandwich shop, always smiling asking me if I would like " salt and pepper" and " would you like salad"!! always out a smile on my face, wanting to go the extra mileage, and as for quality 2nd to none needless to say great value for money......... I would like to say thank you ladies one in particular... you know who you are xx a very full and satisfied customer A++++++++++

I have bought a few sandwiches from Hampers this year and each time I wish I hadn't bothered. The customer service they offer is quite honestly dyer. We are a large company and our staff like to support local businesses, but the staff at Hampers are possibly the rudest people I have ever come across within the service industry! On initial arrival you get greeted with a "What do you want" from a grumpy lady who then slings all the ingredients into your sandwich with the enthusiam of a constipated vulture. You're then followed by a "That it?", then a "£5.50" and a snatch of your card. No please or thank you involved, and after turning up raher cheery you leave feeling disappointed and embarassed. Quite frankly, if you don't like making sandwiches don't work in a sandwich shop.
