Hotel Chocolat in St Edmundsbury

Went to hotel chocolat bury St Edmunds with my friends for a hot chocolate, my friend asked the man at the counter if you do white hot chocolate, to which he shortly replied 'look at the board' This to me is rude and poor customer service. To me a reply like 'yes we do, what size would you like' is more reasonable. Maybe hotel chocolat need to check that their employees are happy. I cannot understand why would said person work in the retail industry if he doesn't like being asked a simple question. If someone asks if you do white chocolate hot chocolate they are pretty much saying that's what they want if you have it

It sells chocolate, I'm not really sure what else I need to review. It's nice but overly priced. It's the sort of chocolate you'd get someone as a thank you or to gey as a sorry to get yourself out the doghouse. The staff are nice and attentive.

Went for the hot chocolate, got the standard “milky” (made with milk chocolate) and it was delicious. Add the cocoa whip, it was amazing. Purchased a pack of batons and the Everything Pocket Selection with pieces such as praline and raspberry. The chocolate is very high-quality and decadent. Less sweet than what you’d buy in the grocery store with a rich cacao flavor. Prices are a little higher but the quality is worth it, plus if you sign up for the rewards card you save 20% on all drinks from the cafe!

Had a nice latte here. Staff very friendly,good to see they train new colleagues in an encouraging way. 🙂

Went in to buy some gifts and was looked after by Lorcan. Whilst I expected a high level of customer service from Hotel Chocolat, Lorcan went over and above. A real credit to the company, thank you!

My wife and I decided to go try a coffee somewhere different, why not!, my wife went for a no thrills hot chocolate, I said to the pleasant assistant that a sprinkle of chocolate on top would be nice. I went for a flat white , we also ordered a slice of chocolate brownie. The brownie was brought to the table closely followed by the drinks, the brownie was superb, sadly the drinks weren't, the hot chocolate was week and wan and no chocolate was sprinkled at all, I was an Americano man but lately I've been hooked on flat white coffees but alas the one i had today at hotel chocolat was miserable, no flavour at all, hot milk in a used coffee cup springs to mind. All for just shy of £11. What a shame!!.

I’ve heard from a couple of people now about the velvetiser and so I thought I would go and have a look at them. My Mum said she had recently visited the Plymouth store and had a great experience where she was given so much information and a sample to try…off the back of this, she joined the VIP club and purchased it there and then. The experience my partner and I received was very different, we were left to have a look at the machines and the store assistant smiled a couple of times. I saw a sign say “Please ask a member of staff for a sample”, so I did so and I was told “We have a cafe there with them in”. We were left again and I decided to walk out, I only wanted to try a sample to see what it was like, I didn’t want to have to buy a hot chocolate as I had just been for lunch and didn’t want another big hot drink. Safe to say, I left and didn’t purchase one.

Good but expensive chocolate. Bad experience with ice-cream sundae, machine obviously not freezing properly.

I went in on Saturday for a coffee and a few bottles of gin and was not impressed with the level of service. Whatever town I am in, I usually pop in to hotel chocolate because it’s nice coffee and a friendly service. However I felt the team in bury were quite short and snappy and the flat white I bought was almost anaemic so when I asked them about it as it tasted like hot milk I was told “I pressed the regular button”, “they have changed there blend” and “next time ask for a large shot”. These are terrible excuses all that should have been said is an apology and let me make you another. Unfortunately in the service industry you have to listen and apologise and get it right for the customer, I will now think twice before coming in again especially as there are many good independents opening up all over the place.

Me my grandad and my Nan come here when ever we come to Burry town. I highly recommend the hot chocolate. When I have my hot chocolate I have the chocolate cream on the side because I don’t the cream in my hot chocolate. My grandad has a strawberry iced latte. and my nan has a cup of tea.

It was my first time visiting today, and it was a wonderful experience! Such kind employees, I really wish I had pounds on me to leave a lovely tip. Beautiful kindness towards us today that I'll never forget! Will definitely be returning. Lovely drinks as well!!!

Great place to sit outside with a very reasonably priced coffee

Bought chocolate, may give some of it as Christmas presents.

I went in this morning Monday and was served by a lovely young girl, I didn't get her name. I told her I was getting a little something for my daughter as she wasn't very well. Bless this girls heart she said I could have the chocolate for free as a random act of kindness. I hope you pass this review to the young girl with a thank you. I will be coming into the shop more often now as the staff are lovely.

Lovely chocolate and as I have a VIP card I get a £5.00 voucher for my birthday, excellent.

Always love this shop. Delicious chocolates and even a great place to get coffee. Staff are wonderful.

Frosty service today, purchased an ice hazelnut chocolate drink that was a milk shake with little chocolate taste, shame as previous experience has been very good. The lady serving needs to smile, may help with how she comes across to the public, the young lad one the door was friendly, maybe they need to swap places!

Chocolate heaven if you like chocolate well this is a place you should visit. Went in to buy a present for someone and I turned into a little boy again just looking at all the choice. Give it a look I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Hot chocolate was amazing but expensive ..... you get what you pay for though cos the quality was bloody good 😊 not alot of seating which was a shame, staff were lovely too. Xxxxxxxxxx

We had fantastic service when my friend, her little girl and I went into the Hotel Chocolat cafe in Bury on Tuesday. We both had the new Blood Orange hot chocolates which are delicious. I dont normally like cream on my hot chocolates but HC's version is so velvety and substantial, it's delicious! The lady serving us was so friendly, rffortlessly conversational and went above and beyond to make our quick stop of a drink really special.

It's a chocolate wonderland, polite, cheerful and extremely helpful staff and of course the chocolate is to die for.

Two ladies serving on our visit to thos store today, one very friendly and approachable (a blonde haired lady), the other( a brunette)... came across as rather cold and hostile and unfriendly upon being asked a simple question. Her attitude stank ...Very unprofessional and very different to the behaviour of the hotel chocolat staff we see in our local London store in Kensington . Maybe a good time for undercover 'customer's'?

Heaven only place to visit if you are looking for chocolate and now they have got a little Cafe a good excuse to go into the shop clean and tidy shop the staff are on hand to help you good value for money

I had the Billionaire's ice cream Sundae which including a 10% VIP card discount cost £4.45. The ice cream was already extremely runny as I started eating and within a couple of minutes my pot looked more like milk shake than ice cream. As for the flavour nothing at all special & much better quality ice cream available at a smaller cost for a larger quantity. I Will not even bother with the hot chocolate in the winter as I feel this will also be a disappointment.

A very expensive shop and only little portions for lots of money but the taste of pure pleasure chocolate can justify your purchase. I wish it was cheaper though.

Like heaven where the everything on the menu is naughty. Power sockets available and some seating inside. There are some outside seats too if the weather is nice. A nice good vibe and the drink was lovely. They claim to have the best ice cream here but didn't get time to try....a reason to return!

Hotel chocolat is know for its lovely chocolate but bury st Edmunds is also lucky enough to have one of its cafe offerings. Real chocolate hot chocolates! You could easy go get a bucket of warm sugary chocolate flavoured milk around the corner but those for who want a real taste of cocoa should come here.

Upon entry, all seemed lovely. The layout of the shop was very aesthetically pleasing and it was in fact a chap’s drink who was sat outside that drew me and my partner in. The Easter hot chocolate we opted for looked very promising...The lady that served us barked ‘your order is ready’ to us when we were sat not even two metres away from where she was, being the only customers in here I was slightly bewildered as to why it was so much trouble for her to bring it over to us - but I’m not one to kick up a fuss so I swallowed my pride and collected it myself. I was expecting this drink to perhaps cure rare diseases at £3.95 for a small size, how wrong I was! The cream and chocolate bunny on top were brilliant, but after the first sip I found myself on the verge of heaving. I can only describe the taste as sewage and I (bravely) had a few more sips just to check I wasn’t imaging it. We left it a couple of minutes before getting up and leaving to gather ourselves and try to come to grips with what had just happened. I won’t be returning.

10/10 Lovely Mocha Chocolate drink and cake. Worth visiting Bury for.

It's a Hotel Chocolat. It's like every other Hotel Chocolat but it's in a different place . The staff are friendly. The chocolate is expensive.

Lovely service, chocolate samples yummy

Tried a hot chocolate on a very cold day and it was absolutely delicious. Staff were pleasant and the store is spic and span and very light and airy. It’s easy to access from the street.

I'm making my way through the hot chocolate menu, happily needless to say. Delighted they have arrived in Bury St Edmunds.
