Hillcrest Coffee Shop in St Edmundsbury

used to be a nice place to go for a lunch or breakfast . had a lunch with friends and the portions have become so small . Aprawn salad used to fill the plate . now the prawns are in a tiny ramakin . and for over £9 . i was really disappointed . exspencive and not good value . wouldnt recomend

Convenient, everything i need for my garden and more. A good coffee shop and eatery. And farm shop. Always nice staff on hand to help.

Cannot take dogs here. It has a nice selection of plants, shrubs and trees at reasonable prices. Coffee shop did a tasty breakfast although service was slow even though it was not busy. Farm shop was ok.

Beautiful Garden Centre, lovely cafe and very friendly staff.

Went for brunch with my mum and dad and decided to have a breakfast! It was one of the best I have ever had! Sausages delicious, proper butchers sausages! I can be quite fussy about my eggs!! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, solid white and runny yoke 👌🏼 can't wait to visit again!

This is a lovely place. On the whole the staff are great and very helpful. There's plenty of parking. A wide variety is available and the butcher's is excellent.

Decided to walk to the nursery from Stanton, and what a lovely day was made out of it! We stopped at the cafe to have lunch, and the food was lovely. Nothing fancy, but was warming and fueling after our walk. The staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We were able to do some crocheting, and ended up staying until close! Would definitely like to come back again!

Great nursery, always good quality plants. Farm shop with fresh fruit and vegetables, a butchers which is not for me as a vegetarian but meat eaters amongst you will find a good array of meat products.

Lovely bacon sandwich and the fruit scone was fresh and delicious. Cafe was full, that says everything !

Great woods to wander around. We saw a deer walking through the trees. Lots of paths and some benches for a picnic.

Lovely cafe/restaurant on site also garden centre and fruit/veg shop, a gift shop a gardening section a pet section, also a Great Butchers (excellent meat choice), jam marmalade and biscuits on offer, well worth a weekly visit, may not be the cheapest but its near and handy.

Very disappointed I normally have a half breakfast due to dietary requirements I cant eat a few of the item, I use to get an extra egg bacon rasher or sausage. My plate had the smallest of a rasher of bacon to eggs and 2 rounds of toast. £8.99. Small breakfast is a sausage rasher of bacon mushrooms tomato and beans with a round of toast. Can you imagine my disappointment. Lack of alternatives for dairy free customers.

Lovely little garden centre and shop. We had a gorgeous breakfast in the cafe before having a wander round. Bought some great sausages and bacon from the butchers.

Visited with two friends last weekend a lovely variety of plants and very friendly gents at the butchers However, the atmosphere lacked in the coffee shop and our meal was poorly presented and not very warm. We witnessed a staff member very unnecessarily speak to another in a very patronising ill toned manner which we found quite uncomfortable whilst having our lunches. We hope it was just a bad day

Had a lovely breakfast, good quality ingredients and a pleasant atmosphere

Truly a real find and a total gem of a place! Very friendly, smiley staff and a kitchen that clearly is run by a very talented team. Two big breakfasts was the order. You could have the eggs cooked to your choosing and the meal came with a lovely pot of strong and a choice of toasted breads. It is all cooked to order and the execution was faultless. It came to the table piping hot and without a trace of excess grease. The local sausages and bacon were the stars - very very tasty indeed. All-in-all a wonderful experience in very comfortable and clean surrounds, and after eating a nice stroll around the garden centre and farm shop just add to the enjoyment. VERY highly recommended!

Great meat from helpful butchers, fresh fruit and veg along with lots of items you may not expect. Friendly staff both in shop and cafe makes for a great experience. Just visited today for meat and veg. Just as good as always, first class produce at a reasonable cost. 4th Sept ... just been and got a shoulder of minted lamb that was prepared in front of me. All the staff are pleasant and friendly and genuinely seen to be happy with their jobs giving a great atmosphere.

Love this place. Lovely place to eat. Great range of fruit and veg. Great butchers. Home style biscuits, cakes, bread and so much more. Also a super garden center.

Roast dinner was OK but Brussels & Carrots were only just warm & roast potatoes were soft on the inside &very tough on outside . Staff were very nice & helpful.

Great value and quality all-day breakfast at £9.75 including coffee/tea and toast. Highly recommended.

Nice farm shop, they are still putting out their Christmas goodies but it looks like they will have a good selection. Unfortunately, the coffee shop closes at 3 pm, as we arrived, which was the reason we had driven there, so a bit disappointed that this information wasn't on Google.

Nice place for good food . But expensive just as all farm shops are food from cafe smells good . Nice selection of meats nice staff.

You could spend most of a day here! Wide selection of quality plants at reasonable prices, lovely coffee shop, a good butcher's and deli shop, wonderful selection of fruit and veg, again all good quality and when we visited on a Friday, an excellent fish van was in the car park. O.k for wheelchairs I believe. Staff very cheerful, friendly and helpful.

Well signposted from the A143, it's about a mile down a fairly narrow road, but there's ample parking and the catering area is easy to get into. Lovely coffee at (I suspect) the best price in the district. Most of the food had been sold by the time I got there-less than half an hour before closing time, so no problem there. The staff were very friendly and it's very well worth a visit.

Looking for a coffee break I spotted a sign on the A143 for this nursery with coffee shop. We found it to be a warm smart building with spotless tables where we enjoyed a coffee and some excellent lemon drizzle cake. Worth a visit.

Brilliant farm shop and garden centre. Have used this shop for years to buy a variety of products. Fair pricing, kind staff and good selection. No where else locally comes close.

My wife and I have just had an all day Breakfast in the Hillcrest café... Superb!! Couldn't fault the quality and flavour of anything on our plates. Had a good look around the garden centre followed by One around the produce in the shop. Hillcrest is a very chilled and relaxing place to visit. One gets a feeling of being close to nature in the garden centre due to proximity of the surrounding countryside with birds singing and the wind in the trees, and the little gifts and food in the store all are of a very high standard too Well worth a visit to this very well run and friendly establishment. Well done to you all at Hillcrest nurseries.

Came here for lunch, 3 different meals for us and everybody said they were very good. My brother’s bacon quiche was declared excellent.

My wife and I have been visiting the coffee shop since we moved to this area in 2018. We have not been for a few weeks, but today when we asked for our normal decaff americanos, we were charged an additional 95p per cup !!!!! Is decaff coffee really that much more expensive ? I don't think so ! We have never paid more for decaff coffee anywhere. Someone is out to make money. Its the last time we shall visit.

Nice little shop that does the best Coleslaw ever! They always have lots of quality produce. Their frozen selection is brilliant and the little tea room is lovely too. Outside is a huge selection of plants and flowers. There’s a butchers too. Staff are friendly.

First visit back after 18 months due to covid restrictions. Previously good food and service. Asked for panini with bacon and cheese and a panini tuna melt off the menu. Advised that no panini’s but could do it on toasted bread. When it arrived the bread was very dry and the fillings very meager . My wife was unable to eat hers as it was so dry Also purchased two cheese scones to take away. Found these also extremely.y dry when we tries to eat them a little later. All in all very disappointed.

Ive visited the farm shop 3 times over the last 6 months. On every occasion the staff have been like military sergeants regarding their one way system and what isle you may enter. Very unfriendly and off putting. On my last visit i put my head round exit door, (not entering physically) to ask a question from a distance, and the woman barked sharply at me and told me to go to other entrance without even considering i might have had an emergency or something. As this garden centre is near to my home i might have frequented it but because of their appalling customer service attitude, i will be purposely avoiding from now on.

Friendly helpful staff. I have visited many times over the years.I have always felt safe and comfortable visiting during the Covid situation. Butcher a bonus, also very helpful and good quality meat. I think we are lucky to have this facility on our doorstep. One VERY minor thing. When I visited last Thursday it was a bit flippin cold in the shop!

Has really gone downhill since covid staff have become extremely rude and not very friendly 😕 the quality of "fresh" produce is not as fresh as you would expect and extremely over priced. Car park seems to be having some improvements maybe they should keep some of the money aside to train the staff with some decent customer service training. Will be going the extra miles to another garden center from now on.

We have never been to this place before, it was a great find. After buying plants & food items we popped into the café. We were a little too early for lunch (☹️) so we chose to have cheese scones & coffee. Really tasty scones & great quality coffee. Staff were incredibly accommodating as we hadn't booked, they were able to fit us in. We really enjoyed our visit & will be back for either breakfast or lunch as we loved the choices available (phone number is already installed in the mobile!) COVID-19 precautions are well & truly covered here.

Absolutely brilliant place ....very safe during the lockdown ...and very safe still. The choice of food , salad, veg etc is amazing and always fresh. The bread is from local baker. The butcher's shop part is second to none. The flowers and shrubs are always superb. The staff are so very kind and helpful.

First visit back since lockdown as I was shielding. Felt totally safe, staff on hand to explain safety measures and lots of happy faces wearing masks.😁

Really enjoyed lunch in the cafe. Social distancing measures gave us confidence. Excellent service and hearty, well-cooked food. Doorstop sandwiches were excellent as was veg lasagne and quiche. Plants looked well cared for and farm shop had nice local produce.

This is a little gem. Butcher with local produce is fantastic. Great choice. Slightly more expensive then super market but totally worth it. Fresh produce is beautifully presented, clearly labelled, of high quality and well stocked. Local produce is in abundance. Great selection of plants, pet foods/ accessories and gifts. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and genuinely care about their customers. A lovely independent farm shop and garden center with cute café (in normal times) & fab fish cart on a friday. They have also been the best I have seen with dealing with the Covid-19 precautions. It was the only place I went to to get supplies during first 6 weeks of lockdown. Well organised, well done and well worth a visit.

It's first time to the shop since lock,down got a few things,we decided that we go have breakfast/coffee very we organised,and great food as always,keep good work up will be back.

First time I’ve been there never again so expensive I will revert to my old farm shop even with travelling costs for me is still cheaper £6 for bag of flour wow

Was in the shop today and saw an incident where a woman picked up 2 loafs of bread, she was approached by a large blonde curly haired lady who worked at the shop and was spoken down to for picking up 2 loaves, personally but I could be wrong I didn't see any signs stating 1 per customer, the worker was extremely confrontational, rude and intimidating, now I understand these are stressful times for all and I respect that working in a retail aspect is tough but even through these tough times you are still doing a job and shouldn't be speaking down to or intimidating your customers like that.

What lovely staff, there were no tables free when we arrived so the lady sent us off for a wander around the gift shop etc. and came to find us when there were. The breakfast was really tasty and cooked to order and great value. All the staff were really friendly and I was really impressed to see the young man working there take special care to chat to an elderly gentleman with great care and thoughtfulness, despite the gentleman being a little repetitive. Do pop in if you are in the area you won't be disappointed.

Came a few weeks ago with my nephew who was visiting.Could not believe the quality of your plants,everything looked beautiful and so well looked after.We brought quite a few plants,more than was intended and lots from the farm shop.The shrubs are amazing 2 weeks on,and personally think the prices were very good. All the,fresh fruits and veggies were amazing,was one of the hottest days when we came it was lovely sitting in the garden looking at your newly planted shrubs,eating your lively fresh salad,finished with your beautiful berries and cream.
