It’s funny what can happen on a Thursday travelling down the London road in St Albans you stop at the Farmers Boys in St. Albans see a sea of people baby boomers and Gen X, bobbing bald heads of gentlemen being reminded of a time of love and camaraderie thought lost. No challenges , no issues here just a great group of people enjoying what can only be described as music at its best no technology fine tuning , raw musicality and talent excellence to the ears!
These guys have travelled the world and played for legends Elton John wedding , Lulu’s 60th , Ringo Starr ‘s 70th
Really well located pub with modern, characterful bedrooms. Immaculately clean bathroom. Lovely staff. Excellent breakfast in a lovely light dining area. Epic eggs Benedict.
There can be some road noise for bedrooms at the front, and there is no car parking, but loads of options surrounding the pub.
So our order got given to someone else (or stolen) and the restaurant refused to accept fault. Told us to contact JustEat and that it was their problem now.
No offer to replace the food, resolve the issue or anything, just an "oh well, not my problem".
Clearly a bunch of frauds preying on the drunk and desperate and with no knowledge of how to run a business or deal with the public with any respect. As such, I am in no mood to show these people any respect in return.
They have ruined the evening of hospitality staff with a rare Saturday night off by totally f*cking up our night-in together, leaving us scraping the bottom of the barrel at 10pm to find something that isn't a dodgy kebab.
We tried to ring them back 35 minutes before the listed closing time without response. This screams shady business with something to hide. So let's not let them hide. They're the worst of the worst, the most uncaring and unsympathetic wastes of time and energy in the city. I would love for nothing more than them to go out of business tomorrow.
Food sounded nice though, but I guess we'll never know 1/5*
Natalia in the St Albans branch was absolutely amazing! What a lovely woman, S&L she is a credit to you, give her a raise! She was personable, laughed with us and made our time here so lovely!
I visited with a couple friends this weekend and can’t praise our waiting staff more highly.
We were taken to a lovely table in the front dining area and our waiter was so helpful. Made recommendations and looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was freshly cooked and really tasty. Such a pleasant evening, thank you. Highly recommend - we will be back!
As friends of the cathedral and a regular users of the cafe , we are very disappointed at the regular breakdowns and the long delays to get them sorted.
First it was the dishwasher
Then it was the electricity supply
Then it was the hot water tap (on-going at the time of writing)
In most cases it took weeks to get them sorted.
Why not invest in getting an electrician within 24 hours to sort them?
Alternatively replace the machines with more reliable models - keeping unreliable machines is a false economy.
The toilets are disgusting. I presume the gentleman is the owner and very off hand and abrupt. Needs to be more customer friendly. Would not return even if I was paid. Lovely surroundings but nothing else.
Don’t have high expectations when eating in Morrisons in St. Albans. But today’s meal was terrible. Pie was burnt inside, so pastry was rock hard. Gravy was like dishwater. Mushy Peas were crunchy!! Mash potato was bland. No wonder so many of the cafes are closing, standards have really slipped.
Came with family for a Coffee today 1st March. Waited over 10 minutes to be served at the table and it wasnt busy! Then when served waited a further 20 mins for a Latte and Cappuccino. When paying I was asked how was the service? I said poor and that it took so long for a couple of Coffee's. I was told that the Barista was a perfectionist and that's why it took so long. Not impressed
Such a disappointment. I ordered an afternoon tea as it was our wedding anniversary. When I paid for it over the phone I told the lady that thus was the case. When we came, no one mentioned it - just a shame.
We were put in their empty restaurant - were not offered a different location, despite the crappy view of the car park. The restaurant Manager was polite enough but we felt, as no one else was there that they were embarrassed to come over.
The sandwiches were nice although one was a bit dry. The scones felt like they had been warmed in an air fryer but were still quite fresh.
The cakes were appalling- all seemed long-life and the red velvet was inedible.
When we left we were not asked how it had been. I emailed a complaint when I got home. Got a holding response on the Monday morning then on Wednesday afternoon got an email from their Operations Manager that not only was not addressed to me by name but did not cover any of the issues I raised.
His whole response was that we should have raised the issues when the Restaurant Manager asked us how it was. Other than him offering to top up our teapots we had no conversations with him so not sure what he was talking about.
Such a real shame - this was meant to be a treat and turned into a bit of a disaster.
I really hope that they learn to treat their paying customers better for the future
Thank you Stephen, Daniel,Mark and Kay for making our bank pensioners so welcome this morning to the Cafe, really lovely venue, great food and drink. The garden centre has lots to offer too. Ideal location.
