As a resident that has lived there all my life for 50 years, I can see the Plough from my garden! it has really gone down hill since the new owners and I will no longer bother wasting my money there. The price of their drinks is more than anywhere I have found in St Albans, a glass of red wine for example is £15, and no cheaper if you buy a bottle !! The beers are equally expensive and the young bar staff do not have a clue and unwelcoming.
The management are missing a trick here, the Plough I remember was packed with people came from all over, nowadays even with their nice beer garden, its just not worth the money with very average overpriced food! In two words, Expensive and disappointing.
St Albans is the most pub-populated town in Britain, I have so many choices better than the Plough, my advise is go to the 3 horseshoes across the field, far better value and service.
I chose this venue for an anniversary lunch. Lovely service, great food, the set menu was a nice price too. We enjoyed the atmosphere, and that it's slightly tucked away in a little courtyard. I'll be coming back again. If you like rhubarb, the cheesecake might be an unexpected treat.
We had a lovely meal here in the sun. The food & drinks were fab! The girls working looked run off their feet but they still made sure everyone was happy and well looked after.
Super kind staff who all were happy to help save an injured squirrel even though some of them were on their break.
Whenever i go in this coffee shop it always has the kindest vibe. Good people and good coffee!
We've had an order to collect from here a few times and have always been satisfied with the food.
The staff are pleasant on both the phone and in person.
If it wasn't so pricey in a cost of living crisis we'd probably eat from here more often

The peri peri chicken I know of and have been buying from elsewhere isn’t wat I got. The sauce was too watery and the chicken felt as though they just put them in the sauce and dished as it didn’t have the flavour I know it for. The fries however was on point.
This is now called 'India Gate' and though first appearance may lead you to think it's just another high street, Indian restaurant that offers a huge menu with all the British favourites like korma, madras, tikka then it's maybe not for you.
The menu is much smaller and they actually cook the food in the kitchen as opposed to heating pre-cooked meat up in ready made sauces.
Very attentive service and very reasonable drinks prices.
Sadly awful 😖 the battery on prawns was so thick and soggy . Sweet and sour sauce gloopy and so sweet. Chow mein tasteless. Won tons were empty! Just pastry. Won't be using again!
We ordered pizza for delivery, we received but as soon as we opened it the whole experience we were expecting got ruined, we thought we should let the store know about this matter, but the person we spoke to was very rude, his exact words were i don’t care if you don’t like it, you can ignore our store from next time.
Pizza was overcooked from top but base inside was thick and uncooked, totally money waste, as it goes to bin after tasting one slice.
If its in my hand then one star is also way too high for the standards they are delivering.
Very good atmosphere with friendly staff who are always very attentive
Have eaten here many times with no complaint
