The best restaurants in Shoeburyness Southend-on-Sea East of England

Friendly family owned and run Tearoom. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Scones are exceptional. We all had the afternoon tea and the choice of sandwiches and cakes was fabulous. It was my wife’s birthday treat and it didn’t disappoint at all. If you’re looking for yummy food, great drinks and lovely service this is the spot. Well done all. We’ll be back for more.

Just good enough when you want it

Awful food. Had the fish and chips, the batter was rock hard, almost burned, the fish was soo dried up it was non existent, and the chips had been heavily salted. I then ordered the sticky toffee pudding, it was more like a syrup pudding and not a very good one, The serving staff were lovely, really helpful and friendly.

Update December 2024: We went this evening to try out the restaurant under the new owners. Don’t bother going. It was very noisy and the restaurant area and pub are all open and part of the same layout. People were enjoying themselves drinking and being loud, very loud. We couldn’t even hear ourselves across the small table. I queried with the new owner who said they are a pub not a restaurant. She was adamant. Frankly, she wasn’t interested and kept telling me they were a pub when I tried to explain I eat in many pubs and they aren’t all noisy. I won’t be returning to eat there. Avoid if you want to eat out. And frankly their drink prices aren’t too friendly either. I ordered a Aperol Spritz as we sat down so I paid for it before leaving. £11!! Under previous management: Ate Sunday lunch there today as wanted to see what it was like under the new ownership. It changed over in late 2019. Well, we had a fabulous meal! The service was attentive and the food delicious. The prices were reasonable and the menu extensive and varied. They are introducing special nights too such as tapas or comedy evening. There is free parking right outside or along the street. We shall definitely be going again.

We went to listen to a band there and on this particular evening it wasn't very busy probably because of the weather, but the band were very good and I could see an improvement from the last time that I'd been to the pub which was some time ago. Felt a lot cleaner and more friendly.

First time ordering here tonight, initially hadn’t received the order so told us to wait for another 15 minutes however gave us both a can of drink for free and then gave us extra food (deeply packed dishes, nice and hot food)

Waited 75 minutes after ordering for food to be served despite booking a time in advance. Food was not pleasant

Best chip shop in the area. Food is fresh and delicious, owners so lovely and polite. Never had bad food here yet and recommend McCoy's to anyone. Prices are very good too. From scampi cod and sausage for the dogs,lol x x

A great country pub, good food and beer with really friendly staff

Me and my family have been going to McCoy's for years and they have never let us down. My favourite meal is Battered Cod and Regular Chips and the batter on the fish is Sooooo Good 🤤🤤
