A quiet beer and great lunch at this Shoeburyness pub/restaurant with my daughter. Our first time, and it is a great venue.

Honestly, the breakfast wrap and cheesy chips is my fave meal from this place! The breakfasts in general are one of the best you can get delivered. Good quality bacon and sausages! Some of the main meals are great too, such as the lasagne. However, the desserts are pretty disappointing. The Exhibition Inn pub does far superior desserts, otherwise this is a great gem!

Really enjoyed the food, prices are good the staff are really kind and hard working they make you feel welcomed.

ordered 3x breakfasts it was okay didn't receive the toast and the sausages tasted really cheap the fried bread was very hard but the rest was okay wouldn't be in a rush to order again

Everything very good except no salad in burger but exceptional value

I went with my other half and son on Saturday just gone. What a lovely surprise. From the moment we walked in the staff were super friendly and helpful. We went for drinks and something to eat. Inwas shocked at the prices on the menu as they were so reasonable. My expectations were not high due to the price but i was pleasantly shocked. The food came out quick, hot, plentiful and was delicious. Feels like it's a bit of a secret. Spotlessly clean and a lovely pub garden with modern kids play area. Great place, food and staff. Nice work. 👍👍

Two create your owns ordered. One create your own with scrambled eggs one with poached, and we get both got fried eggs and I didn’t get any toast that was on one of the create your owns. If you are offering create your own you should ensure you are supplying what has been ordered! Disappointed seeing as we don’t like fried eggs and then I had to make some toast . Other than that the food was really nice. Ruined the breakfast!

Food was absolutely terrible. Maybe I was lucky with pub food before, but I really had an impression that dishes like “sausage & mash” or “meat pie” are usually done quite well in English pubs. But it was absolutely terrible in this place. I think it’s pretty hard to make mash potatoes to taste awful - but this place did it! I bet they microwaved old mash potatoes or did something similar. Sausages were awful too and honestly it’s not hard to buy good tasting sausages just from a regular supermarket. The sauces on meat pies were so bad, my husband finished only half of his portion just because he couldn’t eat it anymore and he was very hungry. They could at least serve their sauces on a side so that meals are not ruined completely. Anyway, awful. The only thing we enjoyed was the garding seating area. It was a beautiful day and that was nice.

Bacon was cold not usually the case but this time seemed only just cooked and hardly warm

Do you microwave your bacon? It looks anaemic and so tough! Wouldn’t recommend anything bacon related from the menu!

Ordered a roast dinner. Not what I expected for £8.99. Small portion, food was cold and potatoes were undercooked.

Paid 8.99 for chicken roast dinner x 2 came as a kids size on a massive Yorkshire won’t be ordering again sorry shame because the pie a mash really nice my daughter said it taste and looks like the Birds Eye frozen roast meal very disappointed

Love this place, so glad we gave it a try when we went there to eat in one time and have been pleasantly impressed every time since. We love the steak baguette with halloumi as it is a real steak that you get cooked medium rare.

Presentation was amazing it looked lovely. However the jacket potatoes were hard. Even when I scraped everything off and put them in the microwave for 5 mins they still were hard. Child chips ham and egg, egg nicely, dippy what I order again, probably, but probably not a jacket potato.

Kudos to the new owners. They've really injected life into this place. The disco nights are fab and the food is both reasonably priced and really tasty. We will be back.

The food was cold and the bread was stale, had a cooked breakfast. Egg was Rock hard I asked for poached, the sausages was burnt and had a funny taste, bacon was undercooked.

Food wasn’t great! The fish was very watery. Burger very hard and seemed to old- no sauce. Pancakes were old.

Food was lovely, delivered a few minutes early by a very friendly delivery driver who was also a familiar face. :)

Lasagne was delicious however clearly shop bought as there was still plastic on the packaging, the garlic bread was clearly shop bought too and was frozen in the middle still, cheesy chips and onion rings were okay

We had a lovely lunch here. Has a nice play area which kept my 3 year old entertained before food arrived. The milkshakes we had were amazing. Food was nice, simple pub grub. The portions were really good and it was great value for money.

I stopped for lunch after finding the last elephant from the art trail in the pub's front garden. I was a visitor to the area to do the trail. It was a fabulous place for lunch.. such good value and tasty food!

Only good if u know everyone, the food was plain no flavour, got steak n chips, kids running everywhere and very loud music and football, be a great place if u know everyone but alone or outsiders, disappointed.

Gorgeous pub, great beer garden - very dog friendly, lots of space and drinking water available. Lovely outdoor huts to sit in if too hot. Huge kids play area as well. Can’t fault it! Go.

Always lovely food but such a shame they always miss out items you ordered wouldn't mind but it’s all the time, this time it was blt I only got a bacon sandwich.

Stopped here on a whim, was actually in the area doing the herd in the city elephant trail and was passing by very hungry. We sat outside in one of the pods in the front, lots of choice on the menu, ordered for all 5 of us, including all having milkshakes, and came under £50! There's a summer offer where children eat for £1.50 which is amazing. Staff very friendly, food yummy and filling, I had a medium all day breakfast with 1 added extra, and the bread that came with it was so thick 😋 everyone enjoyed a piece of that. If I'm in the area again, I will be returning. Thanks so much for a pleasant experience.

Very clean and friendly place to drink or eat. Food was lovely, I had a large all day breakfast, the bacon on it was really thick with plenty of it, nice crusty bread as well. I choose a Cruzcampo beer to drink which was served lovely and cold in correct glass as well. All in all this is a very well run, clean pub that serve value for money food and a well served, well presented pint from friendly, efficient staff. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Have been to the Old Garrison at Shoeburyness for lunch many times, very good food and definately not expensive for the size of the meals provided. Good atmosphere and helpful staff. Good value food for the prices.

First time if trying here we came accross it whilst looking at the elephant outside and my boy liked the play area. So we booked up to come over for lunch this weekend. Went in for 12.30 on a Saturday got in before loads were there to eat so it was pretty quiet. We had a choice of a booth outside or a table inside. We went for inside as it kept trying to rain. Owner/manager was nice and friendly and so we're the bar staff. A good choice of 'pub grub' food. Everyone enjoyed their meals, even the more picky ones liked their food. The father in law went for pie and mash (which he has quite often) and enjoyed it. The steak baguette was tasty especially when I added onions and grilled halloumi. I was concerned of how good it was going to be, I was re assured when I was asked how I wanted it cooked and was definitely not disappointed. The pizza on the specials is a good size and even comes out in its own box and I was told that was really good. Service was prompt, you definitely get a lot for your money and everyone felt it was very reasonable. The play area outside was great as well, we sat in the restaurant section in the end but the kids loved the play area. I never visited before but clearly the new management are doing a great job

Just popped in for lunch. The young lady who served us was lovely. The food was delicious (the banana milkshake was the best I've ever had). Prices really good. The only downside was the rather loud 'gentlemen' at the bar!!

My husband and I went for supper to this pub for the first time as we have seen very good reviews on it. Well, I am not sure if people are used to this kind of food hence the good reviews but we found it rather unpleasant. The steak was the most toughest and full of hard pieces of fat which I had to keep taking out of my mouth to put aside for our dog(she liked it though). The food is very basic, steak and chips, nothing else, anything else you pay extra for which becomes expensive. The bill came to £39 and the food was not worth that price. Should have rather opted for Burger King. It seems to be a pub for workers after the day's work, they were loud, shouting on top of their voices having beer after beer. I cannot give any stars for atmosphere. It is not the place to go if you want to enjoy a good meal out for an evening. We won't be going there again.

Ordered takeaways a few times always really nice and good value , the place looks so much better now has had a makeover , lots of events on for families so nice to have this on our doorstep , hope to visit lots over the summer

Family friendly!!! Really??? Well we had a very different experience the lady behind the bar was so rude, swearing about how busy she was, telling the men at the bar she hates kids. We will not be returning to this bar with or without the kids.

My steak came unseasoned and slightly over rare more medium!! Chips were only just cooked so soggy and onion rings were nice!! Maybe add a option to add a sauce with the meat and fresh onion rings would of been great!

Food is hot, delicious and loads of it! We ordered 4 meals, but the restaurant forgot to give the driver 1 of the meals. They phoned before the driver got to us to let us know and asked the driver to return to pick it up. The driver was fantastic and returned with a lovely fresh meal. 5 out of 5 for both the restaurant and the delivery driver.

My food turned up freezing cold, and the poached egg was all scrunched up not even on the toast.. my omelette was freezing it was like rubber
