Lovely pub, good local beer, really nice staff and atmosphere, nice background music, mostly classic reggae, not to loud, my rib eye steak was tasty and cooked perfectly , my wife had calfs liver which she said was very good, nothing not to like, will be going back

Just had a gorgeous lunch here with my family. Food was tasty and could tell it was all freshly made. I've been here before a while back and the layout has been changed which is a great improvement. Michelle was great will definitely be back.

Came here last night with my partner. Food was lovely lots of flavour. The girl that served us was lovely kept coming up to us to ask if we needed anything. Felt little rush to leave the table to be honest near the end. Staff kept walking past and one time lights went off in the area. We came for the music that main reason booked here so was little disappointed there no music and we were not informed knowing we booked for that reason. It was little worrying that myself and partner were the only people in for dinner after 8pm when the food was so nice .

I attended a birthday party downstairs in the basement room. It was a really cosy room and I think could be lovely, however £300 to hire it for an evening rather than having something like a minimum bar spend felt absolutely criminal. The buffet food really left a lot to be desired for £14 a head. Most of the plates of sandwiches were half empty and looked like they were leftover from another function. The staff were really lovely and friendly, but so overly keen on the clean up that you never really got to feel relaxed, including throwing away a balloon weight that became detatched by accident making it really difficult to transport the balloon home, and getting rid of full glasses from the buffet table. As a bar it’s a nice night out in a lovely spot close to the beach and the lovely garrison, but I can’t recommend this place for a function.

Good Food, recommended, I can see they are making the effort and cooking fresh as opposed to deep frying everything well done to the kitchen. Limited condiments. Good range of beers Music too loud for me Dog friendly

We booked a table for 15 for my mums 70th birthday. The service was amazing, very attentive, the food was great, great selection of draft beers and wine. Best of all the singer Sandy was brilliant! We danced the rest of the night away. Looking forward to returning thank you! X

Had a lovely meal here on Sunday. Husband had a roast dinner, which he really enjoyed, and I had fish pie, which was one of the best I’ve tasted. Service was excellent. I was also really impressed they serve alcohol free wines, which I didn’t try on this occasion, but was useful to know for when I’m driving, as not many places stock them! We’ll definitely be back!

Its a pub with very nice meal options. Beer good.

Used to be a hotel and still keeps some of that aura about it. Nice solid tables and chairs, plenty of seating if all sizes. Didn't eat was there for the reggae festival, DJ was playing some good tunes, enough to make us stop and pop in for a quick drink. Service was good didn't wait long to be served. Nice clean toilets

I would highly recommend the food

Superlatives don’t do it justice. We love the ‘Shoe’… There are one or 2 places not far away which I’d say are over-rated… Particularly for food. Not this place - it is an absolute gem. I’d go for the Skate every time but I’ve never had a bad meal. Great drinks, great staff, great atmosphere and if you hit it right, a great selection of entertainment including music, comedy & quiz! Lucky to call it our local…

We went for a Sunday lunch, not disappointed, more food than we could eat, restaurant is quite small so I would recommend booking.

Didn't stay only drinks and Food but was 1st class ,exellent customer service. The food was to a very high standard.

Always excellent service. Good ales and a very good Sunday roast. A really comfortable place to eat with a menu that's much better than your usual pub.

Surprisingly good food... decent vegan options available. I had the mushroom wellington with mash and fresh greens and gravy. Yum!

I have just had a Sunday Lunch which is over priced. The potatoes were so overcooked and hard the Yorkshire pudding was very hard the vegetables were tasteless. We were given the wrong wine. And there was a lady sitting on corner table who was continually vaping the bar staff were aware and when we mentioned it to a waiter he ignored it and walked away. Will definitely not be returning or recommending to any one.

2rd time in this place, understaffed,had lamb, roast potatoes hard, Yorkshire hard cauliflower cheese runny, had to smother everything in gravy to be able to cut anything, and on top of this they allow people to vape while your eating. Twice was enough for me. Will not recommend this place again.

Friendly staff and good food, but the accessibility is not very good anymore.

Staff very pleasant. Service good. Food was mediocre. I had meat pie. It was good size, nice puff pastry top. Meat was good size and texture. But had a very strong herb and thats all i could taste. Two of our party had, what was described as Vegetarian Lasagne. We suspect it was vegan as there was no white sauce and it was very dry. One had Fish and chips he described as "ok but wouldn't have again". The kids meals, chicken goujons, and a burger were very good. However, the worst thing I didn't realise until we were leaving. The only way out of the restaurant is into an enclosed lobby, where a final exit door was padlocked, so through the lobby into main bar accross the room, to the only exit situated at the top of open staircase from basement. Had I realised prior to eating we would have left as doesn't appear to be safe should there be a fire.

Sadly disappointed today. 2 out of 4 meals were not nice, the roast turkey was dry as was the roast potato with a bad bit in, cauliflower cheese really runny. My daughter had pate which was meant to come with red onion marmalade but it was just pickled tasting red onions and the pate tasted very different to what she had before so apart from a taste that went untouched. The pie and burger were really good. My niece ordered strawberry ice cream and was given vanilla . When I said she ordered strawberry I was told they had run out, wouldn't you ask first before expecting someone to accept something else? I have regularly eaten here but feel it's time to try elsewhere, which is a shame as been my long time fave place.

Shoebury East beach is a great place to and walk. There is a mobile van on site selling snacks and drinks. WARNING the public toilets are closed temporarily due to refurbishment. So dont drink too much.

Didn't get a chance to eat here, but lots of people were, and the food looked fantastic. Sat in for a little while just for a drink, and it was a nice evening.

Had Christmas lunch here, staff and food were superb, some of the portions for the starters were way to big, was a shame to leave as needed the room for the rest of meal. All staff very attentive even tho was busy, we really enjoyed it, thank you

Had a wonderful Xmas meal with my friends the staff went out of there way to accommodate myself as I am vegan and they cooked me a special meal cause I also have a seed and nut allergy the singer was also amazing everyone enjoyed them selves would definitely recommend this place well done xx👏

It was nice and the staff was friendly

This pub and restaurant is on a quiet street just behind the award winning East Beach at Shoeburyness. Arriving hungry at around 4 in the afternoon, we were delighted to find they were serving food and that the menu was quite extensive. We opted for sandwiches and a burger And were delighted once again to find that these were substantial meals, well presented and composed of well thought out combinations of quality ingredients. All three items were also served with a portion of what must be the best chips I have ever tasted. Described as 'skinny fries' these were in fact hand cut chips with the potato skin left on, double (possibly triple) fried, crisp and crunchy outside, light and fluffy within with no residual oiliness at all. Really masterfully done! The burger was served with a sweet relish, fried reed onions, camembert style cheese, a large green lettuce leaf, beef tomato and crispy smoked bacon in a good white roll with onion rings and a gerkin on top. It was BIG. If I have one criticism, it is that the gerkin was a little too sharp and should be replaced by a Krakus brand dill pickle, but everything else was perfect. The baguette sandwiches were also highly praised by my companions. It should also be added that a vegan jack fruit burger was on the menu and that there was a good selection of meat-free options. I didn't check the toilets but both interior and external spaces were wheelchair accessible. Dogs were welcome on the outside terrace, but no water was provided (possible improvement here). Excellent!

The shoeburyness hotel is fantastic and friendly place to visit prices are great aswell the food is unbelievably excellent and scrumptious if you want a restaurant with it all I suggest you give it a try

Decent pub, good selection of beers on draught and plenty of outdoor seating. 4/5 due to some confusion with the drinks order with one bartender (in fairness I think his English may have been a little hazy on some things, which is cool) but seemed to walk off mid serve leaving it to the other bartender. But still: good beer, COLD beer and nice venue. It's a thumbs up and would visit again

Drinks price average but food is expensive

Stephan and Tomas were excellent hosts, and helped out when booking a table from another country. Good choice on the menu and the roast was well cooked, served with modern flaire, and tasted great. Combination of vegetables and sides were lovely if a little alternative. Parking was difficult given the weather and folks being at the beach nearby.

Tapas was a great decision, as all of it was excellent 👌

Pork belly bites and korean chicken are so good. As is everything else we have tried. Great San Miguel at a good price too. Brilliant place.

When we sat outside this hotel pub we really didn't have high expectations. We were amazed by the menu we were given, and still sceptical of what this food would actually be like... but wow - it was absolutely incredible! The chef is clearly very passionate and brought the food out himself. An absolute gem.

This is one of my favourite places to visit. The staff are awesome and whenever you enter you are greeted with smiles from both staff and customers alike. The restaurant is stunning and very reasonably priced. Brilliant!

Beautiful food and fantastic service.

If you're in the shoeburyness / Southend-On-Sea area, I would strongly suggest this place. It's a combination of a really calm, low-key pub, and a really nice restaurant. The combination of these two put together makes for a really nice atmosphere though the professional look of this restaurant can be intimidating, once you sit down, the jolly chatter and the laid back music can make you feel at home. Now, for the food. For starters, we had the Spicy Korean Chicken, and the Buffalo Cauliflower Wings. The chicken had a great build up of spice along with the sweetness of the other ingredients, allowing for a very deep flavour. The Cauliflower wings were also very nice. For the mains I had the 10oz rib eye steak. For this I asked for a medium rare steak, and I was pleased to see, when I actually got the steak, it was cooked to perfection (in my opinion). The Maitre D'hotel butter that was on the steak complemented the steak very well though I do feel that though it was nice, it was quite under seasoned for my preference. The Triple Cooked Chips were crunchy, whilst being not oily at all, making it a very pleasant texture and taste. We also had the slow braised lamb shank, with the red wine sauce, three way pork and the pan fried hake . All of these were presented beautifully, as well as tasting great. Finally, for the pudding I had the Chocolate dome filled with mouse. This was a very interesting dessert. The mousse inside was very smooth and airy and almost melted on the tongue. Though I didn't try the other desserts as I was full at this point they all looked amazing. We also had the Rice pudding, and the Cheesecake, which on that day was apple and cinnamon. Overall, it is probably one of the best restaurants that I've gone to in my local area, and I was very impressed with the quality of the food, whilst also being able to have a good time. Would 100% recommend.

We went for a day on the coast and had an amazing lunch in this nice place 2 steps from the sea side. I would say the perfect mix between English pub and French finest cuisine, staff incredibly friendly, we had a good laugh with a very funny waiter, food of the highest quality. Creme brulee was delicious 😋 will definitely go back.

Very conveniently located near the train station. Staff were attentive and friendly and the range of drinks was very good. Didn't have time for food but the lunch menu looked comprehensive and reasonably priced. Update Oct 2021 - visited with friends for Sunday lunch. Absolutely excellent and great value. The service was great and we even managed to sample a few cocktails which were delicious. Highly recommended.

Expensive for what you got but food good

Very nice food but waiting time is too long. We waited an hour for our main course and half hour for dessert. It was quite busy though so maybe that was the reason. Saying that, waiting staff are very friendly and I would go back.

Fantastic hospitality, great bar staff and service and the food was amazing. Being a steak lover I had the best prepared medium rare steak I have had in a long term. The Shoeburyness Hotel is worth the visit and one to be proud of. Thankyou

Love this place. The staff are lovely, the food (especially The Roasts!) is delicious and they're always happy to accommodate children and wheelchairs. Highly recommended.
