The best restaurants in South Norfolk East of England

This is a friendly, cosy little cafe. The espresso coffee is particularly good, as are the home-made cakes. There's a varied menu that caters for vegetarians, vegans and people with gluten intolerance.

Unusual pub in lovely setting. Seemed very 'local'. Reasonably priced.

Good atmosphere. Service lacking in some areas. Food good, but full menu not available on Sunday lunchtime, when we visited. Did not realise until ordering. Not told when being seated at a table.

This is a pretty pub in a small village just outside of the market town of Diss in South Norfolk. Friendly staff and plenty of seating outside for a sunny day. The jerk chicken burger was spot on, although the steak on the blue cheese flatbread was cold. This might be how it was meant to be served but we expected it to be hot. This didn't ruin the plate and we wouldn't have returned it for this. It just made it different.

We've been to the restaurant on 2/5/25, wonderful food. The mixed grill was outstanding compared to others. Plenty of drinks options availbe. Enjoyed our time being there. Well recommended.

Booked as a present for my mum. Staff were very helpful at the point of booking, advising about accessibility and arranging so we could park at the back for ease of access for my mum. Very quick email responses and a call on the morning of the booking to double-check everything. Food, service, ambience was all excellent. We really had a great time and look forward to coming back again soon!

What a fantastic little gem of a pub! Called today following a day at the Tank Museum to meet friends. First visit here and NOT disappointed at all. The staff ( especially two fantastic young ladies!) were more than helpful (as my wife has eating difficulties) could not have been more attentive! A real credit to Val and the pub. Food was stunning, simple and full of flavour! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Well done all at the Fox n Hounds!😁👍

Fantastic food, excellent atmosphere and best of all, lots of choices of vegetarian dishes that are thoughtful, varied and delicious. Just wish it wasn't so far from home!

They do great chicken and mushroom pies. Always friendly and good food.

Disappointing evening , service very slow , bread arrived after first course . Main course long wait , only 2 other tables but serving staff no where to be seen . No response from management when concern raised , go there at your peril

Very satisfying breakfast for £9. Mainly free range ingredients which is unusual. Beats any other breakfast in diss hands down.

This was our first visit - what a gem of a family run restaurant. Great service, superb freshly prepared and cooked food and just the right amount of choice. We will be back!

Just popped in for a post-walk pint. Friendly (nice landlord with wry sense of humour) and in a beautiful village in a lovely valley.

Came for coffee and cake. My black Americano was a good strength and flavour. Partner enjoyed his cappuccino with a slice of carrot and pistachio cake. Sadly no dairy free cakes so I could not indulge. Toilet taps would benefit from a dousing of white vinegar to remove the limescale.

3 of us had lunch here. We all chose something different and each dish was great. Everything was lovely and fresh. The soup was homemade with a generous portion of bread. The sandwich from the specials was accompanied by two types of salad as was the sausage roll. The service was efficient and friendly too. I highly recommend.
