Turkuaz in South Norfolk

Went to the Norwich restaurant last night. Wonderful host, great food, generous portions. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was extremely cold which made the food go cold very quickly sadly. The service was not friendly. Staff not attentive. Sadly a special occasion ruined and I felt extremely ripped off. I wouldn't say the food was great at all either. Will not return or recommend.

Money is tight so this was a special birthday treat. What a disappointment. The waitress/hostess was wearing a body warmer as the place was cold. The service was awful. She looked miserable and spent her time standing behind the counter staring into space whilst we sat there with empty plates on the table. I had the mixed grill which was just a pile of cheap cuts of lamb and chicken ( think back street kebab shop quality) and cold stodgy rice. My wife had the Aubergine something.. it was like a pile of tasteless tomato stew. The atmosphere was non existent and whilst eating we had a constant stream of punters coming in and sitting at an adjoining table waiting for a takeaway. I came away feeling ripped off and wished we'd gone to The White Hart pub instead. They actually smile there. I fail to understand how a place like this honestly stays in business. I'm trying so hard to find a positive but there isn't. The only thing to do is not return and to share my experience so others will hopefully will go somewhere else..

It's a shame as we wanted it to be a pleasant experience and we just got home, cold and feeling ripped off. Should have gone to the White Hart in Roydon. Service with a smile and hot food.

Considering the restaurant's underwhelming position in Diss - the restaurant is overwhelmingly good! The service was friendly but discreet. The prices were reasonable, but the standout is definitely their very tasty, authentic food! The portion size is generous I had a Mousakka but was unable to find the room for the thoughtul, complimentary (and not seperately priced) salad that came with it. Menu offering - something for everyone and decent drinks menu too. We enjoyed a very nice bottle of Prosecco which didn't break the bank👍🥂

Spotlessly clean but felt a bit like a cafe. Nice touch to have crudities and olives on arrival, lime in our glasses of water and Turkish delight with the bill. The meat eaters meal was ok . Alas the actual vegetarian meal was unsatisfactory. Tasteless Baba ganoush , though delicious bread. Vegetarian moussaka terrible. Totally bland. It was an assembly job of lentils,loads of chopped tinned tomatoes, tasteless slab of cream coloured floury stodge on top - not surprised it was covered in more tinned tomatoes to disguise it. Expect it was supposed to be cheesy sauce as you would expect on moussaka?? Tiny bits of aubergine - no slices which again would be expected normally- Should be a major constituent of the dish. No flavour. Cheap and nasty. No cooking skills employed whatsoever. The accompanying salad was iceberg, red onion and bits of tasteless cheap tomato- considering tomatoes this time of year are plentiful and should be delicious . Overpriced and poor quality.

Good tasty food although had to wait a little while but was worth it.

Visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was fairly busy. The welcome, the service and the food were all excellent. Food and drinks reasonably priced and you get good sized portions of well cooked food, obviously prepared by the chef and not brought in ready made like the chain restaurants. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and we will be back again soon.

So disappointed, had seen so many good reviews. My Chicken shish was dry and tasteless.The lamb dish was chewy and grisly. The baclava was a half inch square of pastry with green coloured nuts. Meal in general was pretty bland, no spices and certainly not a place I would recommend. After all the 5 star reviews had expected something a bit more authentic.

Very disappointing. I had the chicken shish it was dry and tasteless, the side salad was swimming in vinegar, rice pretty boring. Husbands lamb dish was chewy with lots of gristle. I was looking forward to the baklava but it was an inch of pastry with green nuts. We had gone there because of the good reviews . Overall pricey for a bland tasteless meal.

This place was ok. Service was good, but I wouldn’t call the food Turkish. It didn’t have the authentic Turkish flavours. The chicken skewer was ok, but the lamb skewer was very tough. There’s definitely room for improvement.

We found our dining experience, disappointing/ordinary, glad we didn't invite friends. Food okay but forgettable, Avoid the red wine at all cost. Does not justify the price when compared to local competition

We ate here for dinner this weekend. Staff were very accommodating, especially when we arrived late for our booking. The food was delicious, just way to much for us to manage! We eneded up taking a lot away with us, which was dealt with easily by the staff. They also kindly gave us a scoop of ice cream with the birthday cake we brought with us to celebrate a birthday. The only problem I would say is parking in the car park was a little difficult, it was quite small and tight to get in and the restaurant is on a busy road.

A really friendly place to spend the evening

We used to love going there but haven't been for some time. First thing we noticed is that after all these years the door still hadn't been fixed and customers had to keep getting up to shut it properly. It was a cold evening and there was no heating on. The girl who served us was lovely. We ordered calamari and goatscheese for starters The calamari were very chewy and then instead of goatscheese my husband got halloumi. When he queried it we were told that it was definitely goatscheese. First of all my husband who is a very good chef knows his cheese and second of all I tried it and it was definitely halloumi as I absolutely can't stand goatscheese. I have given 3 stars as our main courses were very tasty.

Beautiful food. Freshly prepared and charming service. We enjoyed every single morsel of the meal and it was just like being in Turkey. Will seek out this jewel again.

Visited with family recently for an evening meal for four people two children. The service on each of the occasions we have visited this establishment is something that all business's should strive to achieve. The food is amazing, we had a wide range of dishes starters mains and desserts, all delicious. We had bottles of wine that were both good and not outrageously priced. The only surprise to us is that this restaurant is not permanently busy.

The food, service and ambience in this little restaurant is excellent. I can recommend all the delicious Turkish and western dishes that I have tried! The prices are very reasonable.

We visited here on Sat 11th March to celebrate our Wedding anniversary. What a lovely place. Good service and food. Hubby had Lamb Kofta to start followed by Chicken Shish, rice and salad. I had Turkish Sausage followed by Lamb Shish. Both was lovely. Only 1 problem 2 skewers was too much, but we struggled on as was so nice. 🙂 We were even tempted to have dessert Rice pudding. Although served cold was very tasty. If we're ever in the area again we will be back.

Turkuaz is a family run Turkish restaurant serving lovely tasty food in an airy and spotlessly clean environment. The staff are friendly and helpful and Turkuaz is very family friendly happy to cater for younger children. Prices are reasonable with a large choice of hot and cold starters available. There is a good selection of starters and main courses to suit vegetarians. Currently opening on a Sunday evening the restaurant is a great place to eat at the end of the weekend.

Been here twice now, absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere.

Consistently good meals. Ingredients are fresh, meats are of fine quality, salads are well seasoned. A treat to have this restaurant as a local.

Absolutely delicious food, great service!

The food here is amazing, especially for diss where there is not much variety. The price is higher than other places in Diss but the quality is high it is definitely worth it. The aesthetic and music of the restaurant creates a homely feel. I have been many times ranging from 2-7 people, it is always better to pre book, you can also order a take out, and if you don’t finish all of your food you can have a bag to go to eat more later.

Lovely little restaurant with welcoming staff and complementary olives, carrots,celery and dip was a nice touch. We so enjoyed the food that we visited twice in the week,but couldn`t get past the lamb sish which was brilliant. Would definitely try another Turkish Restaurant and then again we maybe just landed on a good one first time.

Had a wonderful meal here, while cycling around the ‘Suffolk lost lanes’. The service was exemplary and the food really tasty. The moussaka was particularly amazing. I just wish we lived nearer, I could see that it would become our “go to restaurant”. Really clean and busy even though it was early Sunday evening

A lovely welcome and olives carrots celery with garlic yoghurt dip brought to table complimentary. Lovely warm home made bread and fresh dishes flavoured well and you can tell it is cooked fresh. Not long waiting times. Great service. Very clean. Chilli sauce was a must!!!!

Visited here for the first time for my husbands birthday with friends and really enjoyed it. Fairly small restaurant but very cosy, staff were lovely and welcoming and looked after us well. Food was plentiful and tasty, good quality ingredients. Not the cheapest meal out but this was definitely reflected in the quality of meats and fish and the quantity of food on offer. Definitely recommend a visit and we will go back.

Celebrated my sister's birthday here with an evening meal. They went above and beyond to make her feel very special. My steak was perfect and my fellow diner's thoroughly enjoyed their kebabs.

Just popped in on the off chance as spending a couple of days in Diss with my husband. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, friendly attentive staff and the food not only looked good but tasted amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family should they ever be In the area.

The outside doesn’t draw you in but don’t be fooled; my wife and I loved everything about this restaurant. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Great value too. Will definitely return if we’re back in the area.

Went for a meal hear with my wife last night . First meal out since lockdown without the kids . The host was as usual very welcoming and we were seated quickly,drink and complementary olives were soon on the table . Wife and I ordered a meze and very soon the table started to fill up with loads of cold starters,I think there were 8cold dips etc to have with lovely homemade bread that was to die for . Once the cold starters had been eaten the hot starters arrived . Again loads of delicious food . We had squid and whitebait instead of chicken wings and they were out of this world . I would say probably the best whitebait I have had , wonderfully crispy on the outside while the middle cooked to perfection. Once this had been eaten and a loosening of belts and a little time to talk ,the main arrived . A mixed grill on a bed of rice . This beat us and we couldn't finish it ( we did bring the remaining mixed grill home to enjoy today) then came the most wonderful cup of Turkish coffee with the best Turkish delight I have ever tasted . Nothing like the commercial stuff . This one was filled with pistachio nuts and wasn't too sweet. A complementary plate of fruit was also brought out again freshly cut and very nice . Got to say that we were not rushed and had a wonderful time to talk just like we did for hours when wife and I were courting. The meal was one of the best I have had anywhere,food was fresh,hot where needed and was better that any meze we have had before .even better then the ones we have had in Cyprus. Highly recommended . The restaurant did get busier as we were finishing our meal but there was plenty of room and atmosphere,we will be back .

Turkuaz has stayed open for takeaways throughout the lockdowns with a discount on the restaurant prices. Very easy to order over the phone. Highly recommend the cold mixed meze, lovely selection of starters with a generous serving of flat bread. Huge choice of main dishes...

Great Meze !! We had takeaway for two, lovely food hot and cold, so much it fed me for lunch next day ! Will go to eat when restaurants can open again.

Turkuaz are offering takeaways during lockdown. Not to be missed! Delicious food, cooked while you wait, and 20 mins later we are home on the sofa, tucking in to a delicious spread. Great value for money too. Can't recommend Turkuaz too highly! Get down there!

Visited on the 18th August 2020. On holiday in the area so was quite close by. Difficulty getting booked up generally for restaurants because of the eat out to help out scheme. Thankfully we got in at Turkuaz possibly because they weren't participating in the money off offer. The restaurant was clean and tidy and most tables were occupied. A friendly lady seemed to be the only person serving but she managed to keep on top of orders. We (family of 4) had starters and mains and our boys had deserts. Food was quite delicious and fresh. I had a couple of bottled beers at about £4.50 per serving. No wine ordered as my wife decided to drive. There didn't appear to be any draught beers available. We quite enjoyed our meal but it was probably more than we'd hoped to spend. Food was nice though. The bill came to about £95. Would visit again..

mere for 2 was our choice to have a selection of different things. Its clearly a popular choice as all the other 4 occupied tables seemed to be having the same. Works for the restaurant as well so a win win. Couldn't fault any aspect....

First review I have ever written. Superb food, mix grill was excellent as were the starters and desert. Lovely little place would recommend to anyone after Turkish food.
