There have been some very negative views of The Greyhound over the past few months since it reopened and rightly so. Following a meeting with local residents where there were some pretty strong views expressed, Darryl is starting to turn this pub back into the village pub it should be. The large outdoor stage has gone, it is under new management (Shane) and best of all it is returning back to The Greyhound and "The Venue" is no more. The atmosphere is now much better, the language improved and the quality of staff. If you haven't tried the Sunday lunch, it's definitely worth it as are the other meals too. If you were disappointed a few months ago, give it another chance, you will definitely notice big and positive improvements with more to come.

We held an 18th birthday party at the greyhound, daryl was so helpful from the start. Sid the chef made an amazing buffet, he went above and beyond with the food and it was simply amazing and so tasty. I would 100% recommend the greyhound and the staff. Amazing effort from the team.

Another place struck by everything negative about this day and age, sadly I don't think this place will be around for much longer. Never imagined there were still people out there who would cover up wooden beams in a historic building. A very unwelcoming fence now at the front of the pub, I was the only customer here, and what I presumed to be the owner stands out in the garden, giving you a cold condescending look to make sure no one comes back. The person behind the bar was friendly but they seemed to not want to be there. Hopefully when the inevitable happens, the village is able to buy this pub and bring it back to feeling like their second home. Modernization isn't a bad thing when done right, but when every little bit is gone in a remote area full of local people with local memories without their consultation, it's going to be very difficult for anyone to come back and embrace what it is now. Hopefully brighter days are ahead, specially after this place survived Watney Mann in the 1970s.

We booked a table for 6 on 12th August for my mum’s Birthday at 5 pm. When we arrived the staff were not able to find our reservation, which we had booked a couple of weeks in advance. We were taken to a table and the table cloth was covered in thunder flies. We were then told that the kitchen didn’t open until 5.30. Although we were told on the phone, when we were making the reservation that it opened at 5. We were then told after ordering drinks, that it opened at 6pm. I tried ordering the wild mushroom risotto, but was then told that it was unavailable. We ordered some Parmesan truffle fries with our meal and when the meal arrived, we didn’t receive them. We asked the waitress for them and we were then told that they didn’t have any Parmesan, that was why we didn’t receive them. They didn’t tell us when we ordered them. My nan ordered pulled pork and that was dry, so she couldn’t eat much of it. It was terrible service and it spoilt my mum’s birthday.

When we arrived the restaurant was empty which should have set alarm bells ringing but two other tables were filled soon after so we went with it. Pizzas were 2 for 1 which was a nice touch HOWEVER..... There were 6 of us and we waited about an hour for food. All items came out over about a 15 minute period and we had to chase items. We were told several times that the chef was stressed! The gravy was very lumpy and inedible. The chicken was dry. We had to chase side dishes and although we were donated an extra portion of chips it didn't really make up for the watery coleslaw and dry meat. One pizza was supposed to have pesto on it, we ended up asking for some as you couldn't taste it. Upon paying and airing our frustrations we were not offered any discount. We were only asked if our food was all OK at the end of our meal. Won't be returning sadly. Beautiful location just felt non atmospheric.

Recently undergone a major refurbishment of the pub and the grounds. Our first visit since it reopened and was totally impressed. What a fantastic job has been done. The Venue (The Greyhound) deserves to succeed. It offers so much more than just a pub. With all the outside seating, so much under cover, the childrens play area, the music stage and large screen, the events facilities etc. Lastly the lovely girls who served us, friendly and happy. We live in Wymondham but have family almost next door to the pub so this is going to be a regular for us.

We had heard good things about the re opening so came down early for some food and to watch the Euros final . Owner and staff couldn't have been friendlier and food was great . Was really busy for the final but everything was set up really well Is a great place to take your family for some good food and also to support someone trying to bring something to the local community

Having visited this beautiful village many times I feel that I must put in writing how awful this place is, I come from Scotland and I cannot believe that this awful place is permitted. You could not find a worse place in the most deprived areas that compared to this dump. The language being spouted across the tannoy beggars believe xenophobic, vulgar & aggressive. I feel heart sore for all who live in what was a little paradise and now have to suffer this transformation.

The food was tasty and the staff were very friendly, the only thing I would say is that some of the portion sizes are a little bit unusual… A child’s portion of the children’s menu had more chips on than my main meal, but it was very tasty!

Pub has re-opened but tacked on a new restaurant building and huge outdoor seating area with giant screen for euro 2024. a massive place in the middle of nowhere. Great place to watch the football. Burger exceeded expectations, can tell its from a good local butcher. Also had good selection of beers and ale on tap inc victoria bitter

Your opinion of this old world village local, will depend on your taste in pubs. This is my kind of pub. Of which, there are too few. Traditional, cosy and focussing on serving good real ales. Lacons Norfolk Gem and 3 beers by Grain Brewery. Well kept. And it had a relaxed convivial friendly atmosphere. That is. Not plastic, formulaic and designed on an office computer. Some memorabilia on the wall, related to the wartime history of Tibenham airfield, where JJ. J... James Stewart was based. The locals weren't Royston Vasey types and were very welcoming.. They don't have a menu but they have sausage rolls or pies sometimes. The half dozen locals were tucking into a take away Indian, with the full blessing of the landlord. I'll be going Again!

A great pub. I frequented this pub many times in the 70s and 80s. It is still the same. A great pub for quality beer. A cosy retreat where one can wind down. It is a absolute must to visit. A pub which has not sold it's soul to the 'demands' of modern commercialism. It is a genuine place.

In my opinion the Greyhound is the best of the village pubs in this part of South Norfolk. The food nights are good and I've been to both the sausage and mash and curry nights. My one criticism is that some of the bar staff seem to know nothing about the beer on offer at all.

Brilliant pub. Way out in the sticks & found this place closed but seeing it was a community pub went back later. Had a warm welcome from the sole proprietor & leaned a bit of history about the local airfields & the previous landlady connection with the Beatles. Really nice homely atmosphere, they were not doing food that night & do have a very limited menu, but this place is an absolute gem. The beers was in fantastic condition & we has a thoroughly wonderful visit.

Run by Robert - this is a great out of the way country pub with history. The film star James Stewart often used it when he was in charge of Tibenham & Old Buckenham airfields during WWII. It features Curry Night on Tuesdays, Sausage & Mash on Thursdays and Friday Fry-Up (sausage, chicken or scampi, all with chips) on Friday. This is from 7pm at a price of £6. The Sunday roast from 1pm is popular and highly recommended, but booking is advisable. This pub has atmosphere, large grounds including a play area, adequate parking and a friendly staff and locals. Not many traditional pubs like this thriving today. They also have many themed and re-enactment weekends throughout the year. All in all well worth the effort to find it.
