This was a family event and the venue was selected for its location (we travelled from Rushden, Cambridge and Shropshire) and the website and reviews. We were not disappointed! The service was excellent. Delicious starters included bouillabaisse, smoked salmon & crayfish parcels and Thai king prawns. Mains that proved very popular were ham, egg and chips, 12 hour beef, and poacher's chicken. The quality of the fare belied what appeared, as we arrived in the dark, to be a fairly unpretentious exterior.

A great local pub with excellent customer service, locally sourced food, a chef with a passion to create great dishes and front of house staff that make the customer experience seamless. A simple seasonal menu with well cooked dishes and a relaxed atmosphere.

Went to lunch on Friday lunchtime at the hardwicke arms while walking around the wimpole estate with my partner. Suberb! Although the bar seemed quiet we received very personal service. I had the Hamm, egg and chips which were some of the best chips I have tasted. My partner had a salmon and crayfish baked potato which was quite unusual. Both meals were decent size portion s and were delicious. The bar also has a gin the which had some unusual flavours Pity I was driving.... would certainly return if in the area again

I have check back and it was ten years and one month since I last visited the Fox. I was quite scathing. However, things have very much changed and for the better. The staff are lovely, friendly and chatty and the place was very clean and tidy with some lively pub jokes on the wall inside and out. The food was great my only point is the fish was smaller than others in the area, but it was haddock, not cod, like others. Over all I would return and recommend The Fox to others.

This cafe used to be a favourite of mine for lunch with friends. Today it was a total disappointment. The menu offerings were poor. The burgers we ordered were described as being in brioche bread. They were in common white bread burger buns. My prawn sandwich with crisps was in very thick white bread, no butter and far too much corse ground black pepper in the shrimps masquerading as prawns. The crisps were actually tortilla chips which I dislike. I was not offered the choice to have or not have butter. I am careful how much bread I eat and could not eat this thick bread. The burgers my husband and friend had were also over seasoned with black pepper. Sorry we will not be lunching there again. Everything looked over cooked. Even the scones looked overcooked and unappetising. The lady taking orders looked so miserable, was not at all friendly. She dumped cutlery and glass on the counter. I was only given a fork to eat the salad on my plate. It was very expensive with my sandwich priced at £9.50. The burgers @ £14.50 each. Lunch for two with a coffee and Coke drink was over £35. No reduction offered when the staff were made aware of how awful it was.
