We were invited to join 4 friends for lunch in one of their favourite pubs. It was our first visit. We were very impressed by this picturesque old English village inn. The brilliant website and first class reviews indicate that this is a popular pub for both pub customers and those wanting good food from an innovative à la carte menu. The lunch menu had a good range of sumptuous dishes for everyone at very reasonable prices. We had the braised lambs liver with garlic mash and fresh garden vegetables. It was a good portion and very tasty with a delicious rich well reduced sauce and …..served on hot plates! Around the table everyone made appreciative noises indicating their delight. The sweet menu attracted all to sample the culinary efforts of this talented kitchen. The chocolate brûlée was very rich and very 'chocolatey' and served with lovely very shortbread biscuits. The food service team demonstrated first class service skills, being attentive and using well practiced customer care skills. It was an excellent lunch. The reviews are correct …..this is a very fine pub providing good hospitality at its best. We fully endorse the positive reviews and look forward to returning in the near future.

A great local pub with excellent customer service, locally sourced food, a chef with a passion to create great dishes and front of house staff that make the customer experience seamless. A simple seasonal menu with well cooked dishes and a relaxed atmosphere.

Went to lunch on Friday lunchtime at the hardwicke arms while walking around the wimpole estate with my partner. Suberb! Although the bar seemed quiet we received very personal service. I had the Hamm, egg and chips which were some of the best chips I have tasted. My partner had a salmon and crayfish baked potato which was quite unusual. Both meals were decent size portion s and were delicious. The bar also has a gin the which had some unusual flavours Pity I was driving.... would certainly return if in the area again

This cafe used to be a favourite of mine for lunch with friends. Today it was a total disappointment. The menu offerings were poor. The burgers we ordered were described as being in brioche bread. They were in common white bread burger buns. My prawn sandwich with crisps was in very thick white bread, no butter and far too much corse ground black pepper in the shrimps masquerading as prawns. The crisps were actually tortilla chips which I dislike. I was not offered the choice to have or not have butter. I am careful how much bread I eat and could not eat this thick bread. The burgers my husband and friend had were also over seasoned with black pepper. Sorry we will not be lunching there again. Everything looked over cooked. Even the scones looked overcooked and unappetising. The lady taking orders looked so miserable, was not at all friendly. She dumped cutlery and glass on the counter. I was only given a fork to eat the salad on my plate. It was very expensive with my sandwich priced at £9.50. The burgers @ £14.50 each. Lunch for two with a coffee and Coke drink was over £35. No reduction offered when the staff were made aware of how awful it was.

I got married recently (26th June) and ordered my wedding cake from Mary. Wow!!!! I wasn't disappointed. I asked for the bottom tier to be a Victoria Sponge, the middle tier was a light fruit cake and the top tier was a Lemon drizzle cake. Everyone who had a piece kept complimenting on how tasty and moist the cake was I gave Mary a piece of ribbon for my colour scheme and she got it just right. The edible roses on the cake were amazing. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Mary at all. Beautiful cake which made a special day even better. Thank you xx
