I had booked for dinner a little while ago as a surprise for my wife’s 70th birthday and was already to go out last night. Imagine my shock when casually browsing through their website, it said that they were temporarily closed! I had received no text, email or telephone call to notify me that the booking had been cancelled and at very short notice had to find another restaurant. Luckily I managed to get a table at Sculford Mill where we enjoyed a really delicious meal and the service was friendly and exemplary unlike the Barsham Arms.

What an absolute gem!! I booked a table for 12 for a family meal and the staff were all wonderfully accommodating and so friendly and welcoming and helpful. We had such a lovely experience having our big family meal here - we had the best steaks 🥩we’ve had at a pub or restaurant for years!!! All meals really good value 👍 Perfectly cooked medium rare, and everyone’s chips were crispy (despite looking a little pale) the chicken tikka masala and the vegan curry were reportedly delicious too. Chicken burger was huge and delicious too. They accommodated gluten free requests and they serve good hot chocolate and coffee after dinner too! Can’t rate highly enough - and we will definitely be returning!! Well done Black Swan 👏 👏excellence service - I’m sorry no pics of food but we were so busy enjoying ourselves!! Ohh and also we got to play Uno and 0&Xs - lovely place and lovely staff 👌

A really interesting low circular building overlooking a wetland habitat, owned and run by the Holkam Estate. There's a large covered but open area with tables and chairs and a smaller enclosed café serving good filter coffee and a range of prepared on site light bites sandwiches, pasties and cakes. Not cheap but good quality. The rush and reed drinking water fountain in the middle is a functional masterpiece. The information boards are very helpful outlining what can be seen and why. The big carpark is a couple of minutes away and the beach is perhaps 10 minutes off.
