I booked for 21 people to have afternoon tea for my baby shower. I’m Slightly shocked by some of the reviews below. The afternoon tea was incredibly good value for money (compared to other places in the area), food was delicious, service was attentive, friendly and prompt. The team couldn’t do enough for us despite it being Mother’s Day weekend and busy! They even called the day before to check my colour scheme so they could match the patisserie. I wanted a casual, nice quaint venue for my baby shower and that is exactly what was provided to me, they also do not inflate the price of Prosecco for guests like most other local businesses that offer afternoon tea!

I never review - but this needed saying. The meal today was Very disappointing - the so called ploughman’s lunch was actually terrible. The scotch egg had a nasty hard white round the yolk that was literally as tough as plastic. It came with two pieces of cold toast - no butter, cheeses were poor and the rest was just not good and parts were actually nasty. And this so called ploughman’s cost £20:50. The other dishes - chicken supreme was tough and the fish and chips very average - small piece fish, lots of batter. I did complain about the scotch egg - the waitress simply said Oh dear! Still, no need to worry as I shall not be returning.

My husband always wanted to try Pie and Mash so yesterday we did. We got there for about 12 noon and was surprised to see it already getting full. Luckily we found a table. for. I went up to order and was surprised at the presentation. It looked like they had scoped the mash using the plate itself and mash was over the plate and hubby said it tasted school dinner mash. The pie ok, the liquor was tasteless. (I didn’t mind it). So why have we given it a four- staff we nice and polite, restaurant was clean. Drinks were at very good price and to be honest so the meal itself. If you are in the neighbourhood and want a cheap meal, then this Might be the place for you. Would not rule Out going back, but not in a hurry to.

Read. some awful reviews, mostly at slow service, but with 50% off this month and having a relaxed time we gave it a go. Great tasty food, everyone praised it (7 of us), comfortably seated and nice atmosphere. Several of us had mixed shashlik - plenty of meat - and I added a vindaloo. Nice and spicy. Tandoori chicken and pathia ordered by others. I'd definitely visit again, wanted to on the Sunday night but missed out. I'd certainly recommend it, and I think some people should remember they're on holiday to relax.

I ordered a couple of sandwiches and tea. The tea was very good but the ham and cheese sandwich was a see-through slice of ham with tasteless cheese. The sandwiches were also meant to come with a side salad, coleslaw and crisps but these were not provided. Unfortunately I didn't twig until we'd finished but a poor show on behalf of the staff. I won't be going back.

Had dinner with my girlfriend last Saturday night, always met with a warm welcome by all the staff, the service was excellent and the food amazing as always. I would Highley recommend The Bengal to everyone as this is a real hidden gem.

Great Food, But Shockingly Poor Service This Time I’ve been coming to Miller and Carter in Epping Forest for quite a while and have always enjoyed the food — it’s consistently great. However, my experience yesterday was extremely disappointing due to the service. There was a new lady serving, someone I hadn’t seen working there before, and unfortunately, her attitude ruined the visit. She took our table order of four on time, but after the drinks and food arrived she never asked if we wanted dessert, and made no effort to check on us, we were sitting around with empty plates but she didn't bother to collect them meanwhile, she was attentive and helpful to other tables around us — we felt completely overlooked and unwelcome. Took her time to take the payment, if you ask she would say i will come in a minute but would go to serve other tables. It’s really disheartening because I usually enjoy my time at this restaurant. I hope this was just a one-off issue, but if this level of service continues, I’ll seriously reconsider returning. I hope this won't happen again.
