As a restaurant aside to the hotel the place is fantastic, deffo one to remember. Personally I had the best curry in my life

We enjoyed ourselves at the Anchor. The recipes were so delicious and we enjoyed our special day in the garden dome!

I booked via airbnb with the intention to stay at The Dukes around the Christmas period with my young family. As expected when using airbnb, payment was taken to confirm the booking and stated as non-refundable (but it didn't mention that it wasn't amendable). Unfortunately, the close family member that we were set to see became ill, so much so that it was not safe enough for us to visit them. I contacted The Dukes through a variety of channels (phone call and airbnb) urgently to explain our situation and to try and reschedule our stay and initially heard nothing from them. I then received little response from them. Initially they offered to reschedule our booking but when trying to organise and finalise dates, every response from them was "not available". To avoid all the continuous back and forth, I asked them to let me know of their availability as that seemed the most straightforward and obviously simpler way to go about it and I have since been ignored. If your wanting to offer hospitality to customers, having rooms/studios etc. is an obvious necessity but so is consistent and decent communication. Even if you as a business are not able to fulfil a customers request. It's safe to say The Dukes have been rubbish with regards to communication but very swift on securing payment. The only thing I can review positively is the village in which the pub is situated in, as my grandparents used to live across the road from the pub and I spent many childhood holidays in the area. Stockgrove Country Park is a little up the road and a great area to spend if you have children or lively dogs that need to burn off some energy!

Great local pub . Good food, so much better than those pretentious "gastro pubs." Great value for money.

We've been here a number of times over the past twenty years or so and it's been through some ups and downs. Nowadays, it's certainly "up". It's clean and well kept with friendly staff at the front of house. Food is great quality and portion sizes are very generous. Prices are good with us spending £54 for two people, two courses. That included two pints of Spanish beer. Midweek, lunchtime and it was very quiet, I would imagine weekends are noisier and busy with families. The bar area is inviting and comfortable too if you're just passing for a coffee and a snack.

Was my first time trying this place, food was delicious! Will definitely be returning soon, my new favourite Indian spot.

Came here on the Saturday 10 th Jan .930 am. All I can say is shocking!! The first plate was freezing with cold mushrooms cold beans and cold toast, eggs not even touched the pan! I sent this back and they reheated and said they would do fresh eggs… the second plate was worse! The eggs were not cooked or even touched the pan and came out a white and yellow mess. I would save your money and go elsewhere! The only good thing was the waitress was friendly!

If you are looking for refined then this is not for you. The Bedford room is somewhat drab and to be frank needs a good clean. I was sat next to the window cill which has a few ornaments which had clearly not be dusted or washed down for some time. I appreciate that spiders can spin webs through the summer very quickly but this genuinely needs a good clean. When the room is not clean this makes me query what else is not clean! Having pre booked this tea for a girlfriends birthday I could not fault the afternoon tea itself. The sandwiches had a good amount of filling and the scones were light for me, perfect. The cake selection for someone who is dairy free was great and the service was also good. There is an excellent selection of quality teas and other drinks too. Overall I would of liked to give a very good rating for the tea itself as it was lovely but the surroundings and cleanliness really let this down and it could be so easily rectified.

Never had food here atmosphere not too bad

We booked one of the garden domes to make it a special Christmas lunch get together for our friends and their daughters. The girls loved the cosy dome where we could play music and they could go outside and use the play equipment. The food was exceptional! How did we not know about this before? The service was super-fast and Lauren looked after us so well. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes and answered all our questions. Very impressed with her customer service skills. The girls had burgers and the adults opted for the Greek dishes and they were superb. All in all, a very relaxed, enjoyable Sunday lunch. We heard that the pub is closing briefly for work to enlarge the kitchen. Once it’s back open, we will come again and bring friends. Food and service like that is worth waiting for.

I was booked in here with the rest of my family for the 2 nights either side of my son's wedding. The accommodation is situated in the car park with the beer garden opposite. This made it too noisy for me to get an early night on the Friday as there were cars driving right past my room and a very noisy party in the beer garden. The person in the room above made a telephone call and I heard most of his side of that too. It finally quietened down around midnight. Saturday we were too busy partying elsewhere and when we got back at half midnight everything was quiet. The bed however was one of the comfiest I've ever slept on! I did struggle with the room being very hot as there was only 1 small opening window and I couldn't really sleep with the door open! As the website says it provides Bed and Breakfast, I was looking forward to a cooked breakfast. Sadly the reason there is a fridge in your room, is because you get presented with a small carton of milk and there is a small pack of cornflakes in your room, plus a cereal bar. Not what any of my family were expecting!

I have tried to call in twice in the past couple of weeks, just after 10 pm. On both occasions they have been closed, despite a sign clearly saying they are open till 11. We tried to attract the attention of a staff member inside but were completely ignored. Avoid this branch, there are others not far away in Leighton Buzzard and on the A5 just outside Milton Keynes. Last time I managed to get served there they gave me the wrong order, so yet another black mark.
