Nice pub, has Hawkstone tap. Needs a refit but nice atmosphere

Great local pub serving very good choices of wine and excellent food. The pub is hosting my Dads wake tomorrow 02/ May. The Axe and Compass was his local and they will do him proud. Thank you guys! Means a lot to me and Mum

Fabulous place. Had my 50th birthday party there and the food, DJ and room were amazing. Party package was perfect.

Nice "all you need" little rooms, annexe style in the carpark/garden away from the pub. Comfy beds and the room was clean. We found the bathroom quite dark as there was no window and the lighting was dim. The "Breakfast included" message was a little confusing via Booking.com as the pub was not open for breakfast, there was milk, a small orange juice cartoon with a straw, a cereal bar and a mini size box of cornflakes left in the room. This should have been explained more clearly when booking but perhaps this isn't the pubs error but booking.com. We left the key in the room and our front door open when leaving as there was no drop box or anyone around to check out, so again not clear but it wasn't a big deal. The pub serves a wide selection of drinks to enjoy in the garden. A pleasant stay and somewhere comfy to rest after our evening out.

Madethe booking then read the reviews was very pleasantly surprised the room was pretty, the bed extremely comfortable plenty of towels, lovely shower. We had dinner Thursday night, was really tasty, the dessert (cherry meringue pie and cream), delicious. The lady serving couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely recommend and will stay again.

Great local pub . Good food, so much better than those pretentious "gastro pubs." Great value for money.

Great place friendly pub well worth the stop

The Leighton Buzzard Society held their annual President Evening at the Axe and Compass for the first time and were very pleased with the room, meals, and service grin the team.

Lovely pub. Good selection of drinks. Friendly people. Good screen to watch sports. Worth a visit!

Lots of parking, good food, very affordable about £25/head for 3 courses, and a rare kids playground, well worth the trip. Glad the ladies at Oliver and hare recommended it to us!

We had a Petanque competition at the Axe & Compass. It started with lunch which was delicious, the competition and drinks after. It was a great afternoon.

We only use the restaurant but we always receive good friendly service and good food.

Used the restaurant area for a wake, but the service and food was excellent. Location is excellent as it's a couple of minutes off the A5, so good for transport connections

Had Sunday Roast delivered as am housebound at present. Cost £10.00 each lots of meat gravy, and veg, Yorkshire and stuffing plus the relevant sauce for the meat. Delivered on time and nice and hot. Recommend this to all. Sheila.

Took our friend who lives in the area for a meal nice local pub nice atmosphere friendly staff and good simple food and a nice beer if you like bitter scrum down 👍

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon having read positive food reviews - although we came in towards the kitchen closing time, the food was superb. The presentation was brilliant, tasty food and incredibly friendly staff. Well worth a visit and will be back in the near future.

The Axe is on balance the best pub in heath and reach, no airs and graces about what it is and what it is trying to be. Basically a solid pub run by honest hard working brothers and family. Great atmosphere and all the clientelle are friendly and welcoming.

Very good, freshly cooked food at reasonable prices. Only two real ales but overall a wide enough drinks choice. Good car park. Not a luxury venue though. Didn't use accomodation.

Perfect family pub. Great beer friendly staff and clean

Stayed here for a weekend for a wedding. The rooms are in the middle of the car park (cars driving past a couple of metres away) and right opposite the beer garden, so it was very noisy until.midnight. The room was very hot with no fan in the bathroom. Only a small window to open in the bedroom, so I struggled to sleep. However the bed was one of the comfiest I've slept on. Be warned that breakfast is a small packet of cornflakes in your room, with milk in the fridge. However the original fridge had leaked all over the floor and the replacement froze the milk solid. I ended up going to one of the other pubs for a very nice cooked breakfast.

A proper village with sensible prices that all can afford. Polite friendly staff, good selection of drinks large open garden area and a large pay area for children too. This pub has a great reputation for Sunday roasts which again are a healthy size and will not break the bank. There are rooms to rent if you're on a business trip or need a room for the night. They are in a detached purposely built building in the carpark and look spacious and clean. There is a pool table, large sports screen and jukebox in the rear bar too. Overall this pub is affordable and caters for everyone's taste and puts on a great Sunday roast and lots of other food. Great pub with a lively friendly atmosphere. Perfect for Heath and Reach.

Awesome friendly pub. The restaurant side has a great variety of meals. You can also hire the venue for birthday and anniversary parties.

We stayed for one night - convenient for a one night stay if having a party at the pub, wouldn’t go out my way to stay there otherwise. Walls were dirty, only 1 mug for tea/coffee for a 3 bed room, half a roll of loo roll, mattress had no protector on so was extremely dirty. Fridge was dirty. Overall the room was dirty but convenient.
