Had Sunday lunch here with the family to celebrate a 70th birthday. This was my second visit to eat here, the first time was excellent and so it was this time. Three of us had Lamb Kleftiko and two had pork belly. Food came hot flavoursome. Service was excellent and good value for quality food. If you like salad, they are every bit as good as you would get in Greece. Can’t fault it for friendliness, service and food.

Celebrating a special birthday, a table for 6 for Sunday lunch was an absolute treat. The sharing meat platters are superb and excellent value and everyone was very impressed with the quality of the food, as well as the exceptional attentive service. If you're interested in a private room then the pods in the garden are ideal, with heating and your own sound system. A call button brings the waiting staff speedily. Well worth the extra to have your own space. You really need to get to to this English country inn with a Greek flavour. You won't be disappointed

I'd heard that The Anchor was 'Greek inspired', and although it received good reviews, I didn't think it was for me - I don't like Feta cheese, Vine leaves etc! How wrong I was! Busy, even on a Wednesday evening, which was a good indication that the place was going to be good ... the three of us had the deep fried Brie as a starter, three huge pieces each, served with sweet chilli sauce. This is a particular favourite of mine, and I have to say that this was the best I've ever had. My main was the chicken in cream - it was lovely. My friends had the moussaka and a vegetarian meal similar to moussaka (I can't remember the exact dish). They were both extremely happy with their choices, but as the portions were large they were unable to finish them - the lovely waitress immediately offered to pack up the remainder in order that the meals could be taken home with us when we left. An offer that both friends accepted. One of us had the Tiramusu as dessert (huge portion and was delicious!), and two of us chose the custard filled filo pastry parcel - I won't even begin to try and spell it, but it was delicious! A basket of wonderfully fresh bread was placed on the table to be eaten with the starter and main meal. The food was excellent, service fabulous - speedy, efficient and friendly. We were the last to leave, but not made to feel that we should go. We all loved our evening at The Anchor, and will be returning. It's easy to highly recommend this place, and I'm happy to give the full five stars, and a big thank you to our lovely waitress - we'll be back!

Lovely pub with a buzzing atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. The food was amazing! We had dips and bread for starters. My husband and I had fish and chips with peas. It was all cooked to perfection. Others had the souvlaki and pork belly. Also beautifully cooked. Our side salads were really good. Good portions. Would definitely visit again. Only negative comment, it would be nice to have more fish mains.

Service good, staff and manager very friendly. Managed to squeeze us in as numbers kept changing. However food was very poor. Was really looking forward to homemade Greek food as love it when in Greece. We had a mixture of beef, chicken and pork dishes. One of my friends ordered steak which ended up to be mainly grisle. I ordered beef stifado and the beef was so dry. My friends ordered chicken and pork skewers. All meat was over cooked and dry. Not enjoyable which is a shame

Sadly we found ourselves being rushed through our meal as they had a large full restaurant booking following us, so our usual relaxed ,laid back eating experience was somewhat spoilt. The team were obviously doing their best to cope and sadly one or two unusual errors in service cropped up which is very unusual. But hey ho, we will return as were sure this was just a one of blip!

Went here for my husbands birthday lunch..We had seen the sign on the A5 and thought that we should try it as we both love Greek food..I am so glad we did!! I haven't tasted Greek food so good outside of Greece... The welcome that we had when we arrived was warm and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and very welcoming. Kayleigh showed us our tables Right from the start she looked after us so well that we felt like that we were regulars..which we now plan to be!!..She explained the menu and helped us to pronounce the words...Kayleigh definitely helped make the meal special.. We usually only have a main course but the menu looked so good we had 3 courses each.. The young blond girl who brought us our coffees was also lovely but unfortunately I didn't get her name..We cannot wait to go again and definitely in the warmer weather as the garden is huge with a great play area for the children.

Dropped into the Anchor on our way home. Staff were very good and friendly. A table was found for us. Menu is very well presented with a good choice from traditional pub food but with a great mix of Greek. This works very well. The wine list has a good selection of Greek wines if you fancy a try as well as the more common varieties. We didn't have a starter but the choice was good. In fact a lot of the menu was home made which is always a plus. My partner had the Moussaka and I had the lamb Kleftiko and both were exceptional. In fact my partner who would give Dame Mary a run for her money in the kitchen said it was the best Moussaka she has ever tasted. High praise believe me. We had dessert and that was very good as well. Mine was custard in filo pastry covered in cinnamon and syrup. I don't very often give five stars but this was good and reasonable priced. I would definitely go back if I were in those parts again.

Food was incredible, generous portions of fantastic and beautifully prepared food. A welcoming and delightful place to visit and eat. Delighted we found this. Could not believe the bill. This is extraordinary value for money. Somehow this place has a culture of generosity and welcome.

Mother’s Day. It was all lovely, food, service the dome. I did book on the phone and really wanted the whole leg of lamb which was sadly sold out and told we should pre order. Don't know why the man who took the Dome request didn't tell me at that time. However what I did have was lovely. Delightful menu. Thoroughly recommend

Given that I found this establishment on Tripadvisor, relied upon the recommendations shown on Tripadvisor and found The Anchor’s food, service and Dine at Dome experience to fully meet our expectations, I would unreservedly recommend these aspects to others. I shall definitely be returning to experience the restaurant and maybe the Dome again, when the weather is warmer.

What a lovely find! So nice to visit a village pub and have good food that isn’t a “roast” on a Sunday. We loved the Greek mixed dips to share as a starter which included tzatziki, humus and pitta bread, and the feta cheese cooked in the oven with tomato and garlic was delicious. Our mains included mousaka, chicken souvlaki and a chicken burger, all of which were great. The service was good and we loved the friendly ambience. We will definitely be back.

I took a couple of friends who were visiting from the USA, for a meal in one of the pods available at the Anchor. The service was excellent, the pod was comfortable and we had access to a wireless speaker, so could create our own ambience. Nice touch. There were controllers for the heating and the string lights, again a nice touch. Friendly and efficient staff, rounded off a lovely evening. A great night out was had by all. Oh yes! Almost forgot. The food was great too!

Fantastic food and great service by all the staff, very attentive to our needs with small children and 20 adults. We were in the marquee and it was lovely and warm with a small park outside. The manager was very helpful in organising Santa for the children and was on hand to see all went well. Highly recommend.

The restaurant overlooks the harbour. The food is mostly Italian but they do do a small selection of other food. Lovely pizza's and pasta. The staff are really friendly, helped out with our very poor Spanish speaking skills (they also understand English quite well). There were 8 adults and one child in our family group, so they rearranged the furniture so we could all sit together. We all had a main meal, two bottles of wine, 3 large beers and several soft drinks and the bill came to €108.

My sister and I had lunch here on our way to visiting the National Trust house Ascott nearby. There was nothing to fault and much to praise about the food and service here. The starters (crab, quail egg and asparagus, and lamb) were inventive, well balanced and delicious. The main course of sirloin steak with onion rings and blue cheese fritter was superbly cooked and the mushroom purée really sublime - all very far from boring and a good step up from usual restaurant cooking. The lager and lime pudding was great fun and jolly good too. Altogether we were really pleased with such excellent value for money, you don't often get such an interesting menu so well prepared outside of London at such a decent price.
