Went on a Saturday after a recommendation of their weekend meat grill. It was unreal! The best lamb I have ever had! Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Baklava was fabulous. Going back next week to try the pork.

A great local pub with amazing Greek food in generous portions, never disappoints! We've always had a friendly welcome and lovely cocktails. First time for the Sunday menu yesterday and the husband can't stop raving about the lamb. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Discovered this gem of a pub a few weeks. Great food and atmosphere and great for families. The owner and staff are so friendly and attentive. It's our new favourite place to visit.

We just had a party of nine and we all got stuck in to the lamb, belly pork and chicken accompanied by sides. It was wonderful and the baklava was delicious. Great place for a get together

Husband and I had a lovely meal this evening. Pork Belly and Lamb on the bone from The Weekend Grill menu, quality of the meat was fabulous, and very tasty. Lamb was cooked perfectly, and and the pork was just right. The owner Sofia was friendly and curious, offered a detailed account of the ingredients of the various dips. She ensured our drinks did not go dry and was a very lovely friendly lady. The team were attentive and hardworking and friendly also, they make cocktails/mocktails order and also saw some excellent milkshake made with ice cream, also looked delicious. The pub was busy, and had a good atmosphere, with regulars and families alike. The menu had lots on offer and we can't wait to come back. Keep up the great work Sofia and the team.

Atmosphere score was only lower due to eating early on a weekday. Still a really good all round meal, venue and service.

I come to this restaurant for good reviews and comments in GoogleMap. However, the quality of the dishes in the Greek style gave me the feeling of being complicated. I chose to have my meal inside, but I think it is much better to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. I do not like to see children playing without following the instructions of the restaurant, and they can continue to do so without warning. I hope the restaurant and customers should work together for the safety of children.

We had an amazing evening with family. Food, service, atmosphere was great. Really enjoyed the flavours and great portion sizes. Would highly recommend booking a pod for special occasions.

Lovely evening and a great setting. Food was delicious. However, food took over an hour to arrive and when we asked staff where our food was we were initially told ours was next only to see 3 more families meals to be delivered. We then asked another member of staff who didn’t bother coming back. When I went in to ask again she was chatting to her friends at the bar. Manager was unapologetic and uninterested. A shame as the food was delicious.

Tasty, good value food, we ate in the restaurant on a Saturday evening. Service was good. You’ll have to book at busy times. Range of play equipment in the garden for children which was popular for families. I did notice damage to the large yellow slide at the bottom (it’s cracked) and could cause injury. This needs addressing.

Visited for dinner here for our 40th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent, Lamb Kleftika and the ‘weekend grill’ lamb, which you need to pre-order. This restaurant has Greek owners, hence the choice of food, but English food is also available, though we haven’t tried that as yet. Plenty of friendly helpful staff here, so service was very efficient. Will be back for more.

It was a warm friday night and the pub was heaving. And I mean heaving. I was part of a group of over 10 people and we had pre-ordered our food for 19:30. It was after 20:00 when the food arrived. Then it was 20:50 when the main course arrived. Mine arrived about 5 minutes after everyone else had got their course. We had agreed that we would all pay individually and our group members had been careful to pay for their drinks separately. The bar was really busy and there was waitress service to the table. Our group organiser had written down what everyone was ordering, the cost + service charge to each individual. It should have been simple to pay… Firstly, I took over 25 minutes from the first request to pay the bill for the manager to be located to pay the bill. Then the manager had a long debate with our group organiser. The manager was angry that drinks had been paid separately and without the service charge. So decided to mandate that everyone had had the equivalent of £5 of drinks and then add the service charge of 12.5% on to this and onto our bill. We were then as a group guilt tripped into paying this extra money on top of our food and the service charge for our food. After all, if we didn’t pay the service charge our waiting staff wouldn’t get the tips. However, the food was nice. Some people found that their meat was dried out and tough. But overall, the food was delicious.

We enjoyed a nice double birthday meal, food as always delicious. It is always recommended to book up in advance as other reviews suggest this place is truly enjoyed especially on weekends as they seem to be busy from open til close, even when they are fully booked they always try to accommodate your visit where they can.

The Anchor is one of the restaurants I always come back to and recommend it to everyone. Food is always delicious, service is brilliant and the atmosphere is amazing. There's plenty of space inside and outside. Variety of food and drinks and desserts. Lovely owner who always finds time for a little chat. There's a parking lot as well as a few spaces on the street.

Visited here with a large group for lunch. We were too large for the restaurant so were accommodated in a marquee in the large garden which was very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food delicious. It was mostly Greek influenced but steak and chips and fish and chips were also available. Every one of our group pronounced the food "excellent" The only problems arose when we needed to pay. We were all paying separately so expected some delay but there was about a half hour delay whilst they got the individual invoices ready. Would have given The Anchor 5/5 but I had a disabled friend and there was no disabled parking and no disabled toilet. The toilets are on the ground floor but were too small for a wheelchair or to manoeuvre a walking aid. Wheelchair users should take note.

We visited Thursday evening for a large 18th party gathering. Beautiful pub and food was amazing and well managed considering there were so many of us. Cannot fault that at all. Lovely friendly staff too. 😊 Our only niggle is the service charge which seemed a lot per head. I'm not sure how they work this out 15%? I would like to visit again though. Was really impressed x

We booked a garden dome for 6 adults and 3 small children. The staff were super-friendly and helpful, the Greek food was fantastic and delicious. A great experience!

Had my fathers wake here yesterday. Yiannis you did my dad and the family proud. The food was amazing and the staff so attentive to our needs. We had a mixture of cold and hot foods which were delicious. Anyone have a large gathering will not be disappointed if arranged at the Anchor. You made a difficult day so much easier and we take away some really precious memories. Thanks Yiannis and all your wonderful staff !

Came to the anchor this evening 10-05-24 with my mum visiting for the weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and so tasty and wonderfully homemade authenticity added into it. The staff were super helpful and pleasant and really made the pub special. The atmosphere was great too and I’ll definitely be coming back here soon.

Our daughter recommended The Anchor to us & we were not disappointed. Great setting,friendly staff & wonderful food, what more can you ask for. My only regret was being too full up for a dessert!! We'll definitely return. Thank you for a touch of wonderful Greece in Bedfordshire!

Service good, staff and manager very friendly. Managed to squeeze us in as numbers kept changing. However food was very poor. Was really looking forward to homemade Greek food as love it when in Greece. We had a mixture of beef, chicken and pork dishes. One of my friends ordered steak which ended up to be mainly grisle. I ordered beef stifado and the beef was so dry. My friends ordered chicken and pork skewers. All meat was over cooked and dry. Not enjoyable which is a shame

We had a very warm welcome when we arrived. A lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Waitress was very sweet and professional. The food was amazing. I haven’t had Greek food for a long time. So thoroughly enjoyed it and will return soon.

I always leave honest reviews. Pre booking was recommended so we called to give our food preferences. We were told to not be late for our 5pm booking however upon arrival waited 50 minutes to have our food. I cannot complain about the quality of the food, I had a mixed grill for one and it was amazing. We were a party of 10, one of our 18 year olds wanted the same as a 6 year old in our group which was advised during booking. Both meals arrived and we're exactly the same - Chicken Nuggets, however the receipt specified an Adults Kids Meal for £8.50 however the kids meal, labelled as Chicken Nuggets was only priced at £4.70. Charging this way is unethical, it should not matter who eats what, some adults have small appetites and if they eat the same amount of food as a child, should pay the same. Also, if someone wants a salad, and the only option is. Greek Salad, removing the Feta and Olives, makes this a regular salad, which was acknowledged by the staff however charging full price (£9.10) for a large leafy salad, labelling it as a Greek Salad Share, felt a bit underhand. Ordering Sirloin Steak and chips is a fairly regular order however being billed for Sirloin steak, and separately for Steak chips was a bit odd. Overall, I enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere was pleasant, the staff I interacted with were polite, however the booking process appeared pushy and the method of billing gave the impression that costs were pushed up to maximise profit.

Love this place so much. Family party of 12 and everyone enjoyed their food. All the selection of meats we had was cooked to perfection and the chips were lightly seasoned. Only downside was that there wasn't any belly pork in the grilled menu. See you very soon The Anchor, you certainly keep living up to expectations. 👌🏾😋. Recommendation, the mixed grill.

Service was fairly prompt. Sticky tables unfortunately. Staff were quite good on the whole. I think the more experienced waitress took our order as we were a large table. The temps were mainly plate carriers. However, I'm not Greek, but what was supposed to be Mousaka wasn't great, well actually it was awful. Other dishes like the curry and Cumberland Sausages were ok. So unless they use a completely revamped recipe, avoid the Mousaka. I'm sure Jamie Oliver could probably give you a hand here with a recipe, and he's an Essex boy.

We were a large group of 15 , the service was so good considering how many of us there were , everyone was served within a few minutes and all with the correct order . The food was amazing and so much of it. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.Highly recommend The Anchor , I will definitely be going back.

It was all lovely, food, service the dome. I did book on the phone and really wanted the whole leg of lamb which was sadly sold out and told we should pre order. Don’t know why the man who took the Dome request didn’t tell me at that time. However what I did have was lovely. Delightful menu. Thoroughly recommend

Don't waste your time. Food is mediocre at best, prices are sky high, waiting times are ridiculous and cleanliness is atrocious! Was there last Friday with my wife, waited 1 hour for simple fries and moussaka. We asked for another portion and been told that they are very busy and won't be able to do it. The toilets are absolutely disgusting. Won't go there again

Really good food and service was lovely. We had a meal in their dine in a dome experience. The dome has lights, phone charger, heater/fan it was cosy and there is a bell for service if you need to order anything.

This is a lovely little pub and enjoyed the atmosphere. Greek is nice but the roast on Sunday was fine, but 1pm they ran out of potatoes which isn’t really good enough. Will go back though

Fantastic vegetarian and gluten free delicious greek lunch, with ukulele band some Wednesdays apparently! - completely hilarious as I was there just before a family funeral and it was all just a bit surreal. I would recommend the food with or without ukulele though - excellent quality ingredients, care and attention to prep and service. Would recommend!

First time back at this pub for over 20 years. Had low expectations seeing Greene King over the door but wow. I was so wrong. Best food I have had for ages. Very good value too.

Great family pub/restaurant. Always accommodating even when busy. Food is top notch! Great kids play area, so us adults can have a few minutes to ourselves.

We had our wedding anniversary dinner in the ‘dine at dome’ . The ambience and food were absolutely wonderful. The staff are great especially Lauren who came to us many times to check everything was fine. Definitely going to recommend to my friends as well.

Not sure if you guys know, but goats cheese isnt vegan, no cheeses, not feta cheese, none are vegan. Hope this helps! warning to any vegans visiting, i suggest not going overall, food is good though.

Have been visiting the area for family reunion. Booked the Anchor for a meal. The restaurant was busy but the staff were well equipped to deal with us. Very professional and able to help us with our requirements. Great banter with Sophia who looked after us very well. Oh, The food was very nice. My sausages were lovely. Good evening 😋 Yamass.

One of the best pubs we’ve been too. Close to home, staff are well trained and are accommodating to each persons needs. We are regulars here as we have children and with the lovely garden with a lot of children’s play equipment it makes life a lot easier when you want to eat out.

Music was a bit loud, but service and food are fabulous and decent portions.

Came in for food with friends, place was very busy. Ordered food, was told there was a bit of a wait, happy with that as food was fab and we had a few beers while catching up. Staff very friendly and helpful, not too expensive, great to see a village pub so busy. Lovely back garden, will be back

Amazing food and great service . A real gem of a pub .

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at The Pub Anchor. The Greek food I ordered was a disaster. The meat seemed barely cooked, with blood still on the bones. To make matters worse, it felt like the food had been reheated multiple times, resulting in a tasteless and unappetizing meal. The service was equally awful, leaving a lot to be desired. The only positive aspect was the location, which was the only redeeming quality of this otherwise regrettable dining experience.

Have been there on a few occasions great place lovely staff great atmosphere would go there more often if I could. Prices are affordable. We think it is a great place to eat lunch or evening 😀

Quite disappointed with this place, had to pay £15 corkage fee for bringing my own birthday cake and cutting it lighting it myself and furthermore, had to pay £40 service charge which by law is not compulsory! Will not be attending here again!

Absolutely shocking to be honest. Food was okay but was charged service charge twice for a party of 12 and wouldn’t let us take it off as it was £45! Was also charged for cake corkage but we cut the cake ourselves and did the candles aswell, not bought out by the staff but still charged. The manger was rude and didn’t want to listen even though more then one of us spoke to them. Wanted to have a nice family dinner to celebrate my dads birthday but instead everyone left very annoyed and unhappy. Won’t be coming back again.

I do not recommend ! I went today and I was disappointed! the staff very unprepared in many aspects. They were holding the glasses with their fingers where I put my mouth, this is not hygienic. They brought the cocktail glasses not full because their hands were shaking while walking. the drink was spilling over the glasses. We’ve received the food in 2 stages, although we ordered the menus a few days before, so they knew what they had to prepare, we had to wait an hour for the steak. People’s ate separately ! This is not what I expected for lunch on a Sunday. We received the cake plates without cutlery, and we had to wait another 20 minutes with the cake in front of us but without cutlery, zero communication, zero respect for customers. In the email they specified that a tip is optional, I repeat optional, and I saw at home that I added £80 without being asked. there is no such thing ! After I sent them an email that it doesn't seem right, they offered me a £45 voucher for the next time. From where did they get the amount of 45? They appropriated £80, I wanted £80 back. they didn't answer after that. ….

This is by far my favourite place to eat out! The food is so fresh and tasty and they have a great deinks menu including slushies which is perfect on these beautiful days. Theres a fantastic park in the back so your children dont get bored and you can hire Globes to sit & eat in! Great value for money, extremely friendly and helpful staff!

We’ve just had a takeaway. As veggies it’s so hard to find good local take out. This was so delicious. I haven’t even cleared away the plates, I had to leave a great review. The salads were amazing, baked feta mouthwatering and my daughter demolished her fish and chips. We will be back both as a takeaway customer and to eat in. Thank you.

Me and the family visited , the weather was nice so we sat in the garden ( which is huge) , the kids played in the park and me and my wife sat and had drinks. The food was very nice and decent portions. I think this place is a hidden gem, we’ve lived within 3 miles from here for 8 years and never knew it was there. Will visit again soon

Visited the Anchor last night. Delicious food as always, especially vegetarian moussaka, friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. This my favourite place to come to. Brilliant for children too, with a safe play area in the garden.

Lovely staff and equally lovely food too. Very welcoming and I just keep going back. It also manages to keep the feel of a pub in the front bar,, our preferred spot to hang out and have a bite. That's a rare and prized thing now many have gone down the food only route. A wider variety of ales would be welcome but a minor point and I highly recommend a visit.

The food was really lovely and tasty but I found the portions small and they were not good value for money. Especially the dessert we got the galaktomboureko but it was tiny and it cost £7.25! That is daylight robbery. Decor is really good and staff are very attentive. Regardless of the low score I do recommend the pub and I plan to visit again at some point soon.

Good pub but very expensive can get a pint of cider 3 quid cheaper and food for half the price in weather spoons and they cater for disabled people like the disabled toilets And they have a app that let's me stay in my wheelchair and they bring over food and drink Does that answer your reply

Came for a meal on Thursday evening not having been able to get out for the past four months as my wife has been suffering badly with sciatica. All the praise I had read in reviews was more than utterly deserved. The food was fantastic and so full of flavour. I had the best mousaka that I have ever tasted! What really made the evening was the staff. They were so attentive, kind and good humoured. Service was prompt and when one of our group asked for chocolate on her cappuccino, which they didnt normally do they found some chocolate for her. What more could you ask for! Finally I would like to thank the staff for the kindness they showed to my wife, bringing a small chair for her to put her leg up and constantly checking that she was comfortable. We will DEFINITELY be back again.

A nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the grilled chicken, after being talked into it by the waitress . Unfortunately the chicken was extremely dry and no sauces were offered. Every one else enjoyed their food. We had cappuccinos, which had cinnamon on top not chocolate which wasn't great. Also the table was extremely sticky . Overall this for me was not an experience I will rush back for .

It was our 33rd wedding anniversary and we booked the dome experience the staff were amazing so welcoming and attentive.
