Came in for food this afternoon and the new trainee Zack served me, who was very helpful and seemed to be picking things up quite well! Food was delicious as always, lovely vibe at the bar
Popped in today for fish and chips to take to the beach and eaten out of the paper (no better way to experience the seaside) The fish was huge and beautifully cooked. Batter was tasty and fish thick, long and flaky......perfect! Chips were great too. So much food even the dog got a bit (and she loved it too) Highly recommended and can't wait to return.
I have been to stop the world before and had a good experience however I was disappointed with my experience today, me and my partner came in for brunch it was busy but no busier than usual, I ordered a smoothie which I was disappointed with as it was warm when I got it so not very enjoyable and then we waited an hour for our food to come, which I just think is way too long especially for breakfast and we only ordered scrambled egg on toast and avacado on toast, didn’t get an apology for our wait or anything really so didn’t have the best experience
With Southend having limited options for halal dining, this is a good choice. The experience the first time I visited was a nice. The food is decent, and the staff on shift were very friendly and welcoming, leaving me wanting to come back.
However, my second visit was less impressive. I went with a group of 15 to celebrate my brother's birthday, and the server seemed visibly irritated, both in his facial expressions and tone of voice. Despite this, I wouldn't discourage others from visiting, as the server might have just had a bad day.
Overall, I think it's worth trying for a casual meal.
I’m new to the area, had been in a few times, the food was nice, queuing for a coffee was a first for me, nice place everything was fine, went in the second time asked for poached eggs? Felt like I’d hit a nerve? I was told “we don’t do em”. My friend was shocked, he actually said “a cafe that don’t do poached eggs?” I can understand the we are too busy to faff about, are they not really 100% cafe people? I just thought they wanted a. Easy life? Queue for coffee get your own cutlery, give me an apron I’ll cook it as well!!
Shame really could be SO MUCH BETTER!
See if it’s improved this summer? It appeared there’s all walks of life uses this cafe maybe it’s not just me who has a gripe with this CAFE.
PS I’m not slating the food.
We have enjoyed the Sunday lunch at Morston Hall twice in the last three weeks and have booked again for next month! Just sometimes you get to experience a meal that is absolute value for money. Morston Hall are now doing Sunday lunch for £50. This is a Michelin Star restaurant and they offer a three course meal for £50 - a bargain.
The setting is great. You enjoy lunch in a lovely conservatory with all of the little touches that you expect such as bread and canapes. Then on to a three course lunch which is cooked to those Michelin star levels. Service is pleasant and efficient.
I could go on to describe all the dishes but do yourself a favour and book it yourself! I reiterate when do you get the chance to enjoy a three course meal at a Michelin Star restaurant for £50? Well done to Galton and the team - you deserve to be fully booked every Sunday - just make sure that we can always get a table though!
Had a great roast yesterday!
Complimentary butternut squash soup to start, both mine and my husbands roasts were amazing! Staff were super friendly and attentive! A local place doing it right!
Not a great visit recently. Very watery and bland tikka masala, had to ask for additional sauce to get some taste, they brought out a vindaloo which was just as bland. Shame it used to be great
