The Old Rock Shop Bistro in North Norfolk

We ordered a selection of savoury food for 17 people for a family celebration. Sam was very helpful and gave us a lovely choice of food from which to choose. The food was beautifully presented and we all agreed that it was delicious. Don't hesitate to use their outside catering services.

My husband & I decided this year to try all the cafes for breakfast in town to see what each had to offer. This little gem is definitely our favourite. Although it doesn’t offer a full English it offers a lot of breakfasts that others do not. After our own personal research…..it was a difficult task but someone had too!!! this place is our go to weekend breakfast treat. We have been working through the breakfast menu and we haven’t found anything we don’t like yet. The cafe is very clean with friendly staff. Sometimes there can be a wait as other customers food/drinks are prepared. The downside of being a popular cafe. The food is good quality & priced fairly. A plus bonus is we can bring our new addition to our family as dog friendly. We also use the West Street Deli when on the go for the amazing Norfolk sausage rolls

Firstly, we went there in the morning with our two dogs and asked if we could book a table for lunch. We really, really wanted to have their crab salad and asked them if it was available. The member of staff said that we were lucky as they only had a few crabs left, and asked us what time we would like to reserve the table for. When we arrived for lunch, the table had been reserved for us and the food was absolutely SUPERB! Cannot fault this restaurant in any way.

We have been here a couple of times now after being recommended to us. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is amazing. We have tried the pancakes with lemon, eggs Benedict and cheese and ham toasty ( croque monsiour) all of which have been excellent. This cafe is always busy with locals and tourists, both sit in and take away. We have booked a table to avoid disappointment. Will definitely be back again, the only problem is what to choose!

Great breakfast, very good service and very dog friendly. Nicely busy for a grey thursday morning, plenty of people, tourists and locals alike coming and going for a coffee or breakfast. The eggs benedict hit the spot, as did the avocado and feta on sourdough.

The family and I were in need of a late lunch. Cafe looked lovely and the food was delicious. Cromer crab sandwich really hit the spot.

There’s only a couple of tables but it is a lovely little restaurant with great food!! I had the cheese and tomato pizza baguette and it was great!! The team were also very welcoming and polite! Thank you!

Turned up at 11.29 on a Saturday with one minute to go for the eggs benedict deadline - the lovely lady behind the counter spoke to the kitchen straight away and they agreed to still do it for me. Lovely cafe - their homebakes in the cabinet looked very yummy, great old jukebox and good music at the right volume. The eggs were served on a lovely smoked bacon and cheese sourdough scone - so yummy but very filling - hubby had the local sausage and smoked bacon baguette - again super yummy but very filling - so sad we cannot eat like when we were young! Tea served in a decent sized teapot - at least 3 cups each - great service - incredibly quick in fact - reasonable price - perfect all round

Parked right outside this little bistro so looked at the menu/inside 😂 Had a walk around Cromer did notice other places to eat/drink but not as clean looking or choice of food that this place offered. In the end I actually didn’t eat as I’d had chips earlier and wasn’t hungry but hubby had homemade flapjack. What I did notice was that the next table did have the whole crab salad with new potatoes and it looked amazing.

The food and service was excellent I had a crab sandwich which wasn’t cheap but was very nice the other 3 people had toasted sandwiches and cake for afters which they said was also very nice ,the staff were very friendly and smiley.

Lovely friendly staff, excellent service. Had breakfast every day we were in Cromer, don't do traditional English breakfast, bur have a number of different options which are very tasty..

Interesting decor, calm and relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff. We had coffee and excellent cake. Bistro menu was interesting, included local speciality, crab. Will have lunch there next time we visit.

We had a lovely breakfast here this morning on our first ever visit to Cromer. One ‘Breakfast Stack’ and one bacon & eggs. Both were very tasty and large portions. Recommended

Visited in twice in early October whilst on a short break in Cromer. Delicious coffees, hot chocolate and cakes. All coffee options available from double espresso to one shot skinny latte, including non dairy options. Excellent!

Really friendly staff, very helpful and kind and a lovely scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam 😋

Excellent selection of food especially cakes, nothing is ever too much bother for the staff and the service is always top of its game

We chose this cafe as it was nearly empty, this should have been a clue as all other cafes and restaurants were full or people were queuing outside…Female staff member very rude and quite unpleasant.Food ok not the best cafe in Cromer.

Would highly recommend! Ordered lots of fruit and cheese scones for a family party along with some lovely gluten free lemon drizzle cake - Great value, so tasty and nothing was too much trouble!

Went to our favourite place in Cromer with my friend who has a baby ...the staff were so helpful with getting a highchair etc ...the atmosphere...coffee ...and lunch was fantastic as usual ....highly recommend this lovely little Bistro x

We called in on a Tuesday lunchtime to sample some local crab. It is a nice cafe, and the food was lovely, freshly made and generous. We had a crab sandwich and a cheese and tomato baguette, with some excellent cappuccinos. We were greeted at the door by the proprietor, the staff were friendly and prompt, and the place was very busy. Our lunch was reasonably priced as were the cakes which we couldn't resist The unisex loo was clean and a good size.

Popped in for a sandwich on a Saturday lunchtime. So glad we did, the Reuben Baguette was fantastic. Great service, clean and friendly. Recommended for a quick bite!

Lovely crab salad for lunch. Great service and not too expensive. Great find when we were struggling to find anything but fish and chips.

Had take away coffee and baguettes yesterday good coffee and excellent food. Due to covid we ordered and waited outside for the food but it was very quick.

Thought we’d treat ourselves to a breakfast in lockdown to cheer us up, so ordered a Continental Platter for the wife and a bacon baguette for myself. We were given a delivery slot of 8-9am and Sam arrived bang in the middle at 8:30 to deliver our treat. My baguette was lovely and warm, packed with bacon and the coffees were nice and hot. The wife said the pastries and fresh fruit were exceptional. All in all a brilliant experience which we will definitely be repeating. Our thanks go out to all at the Bistro for brightening up the start to yet another weekend in lockdown - you’re doing a brilliant job.

We had a 3 course valentines dinner for two delivered by Sam. He went the extra mile to get our food to us despite the weather with most roads into our village blocked by snow. We both had creamy stilton mushrooms to start, chicken for me with salmon for my husband and fruit of the forest cheesecakes to follow. All were received piping hot (except for the cheesecakes & ice cream of course!) and beautifully presented. The cheesecakes were particularly divine. Light & fluffy & gorgeously sinful! I have to say that we were very impressed and we look forward to sampling more of their wares.

We had a delicious Valentines Afternoon Tea delivered today! Loved the attention to detail; little heart stickers, heart patterned baking paper and our yummy chocolate hearts. The Afternoon tea tasted as if it was just ‘fresh out of the oven’. Thank you, I always recommend this place! Awesome chefs too ❤️

Came here on the off chance today 13/02 my partner and son came in looking for a little treat as I'd been in bed with a migraine, I was presented in bed with one of your gorgeous sausage rolls and a cupcake. Which I have to say it's been along time since we found a sausage roll full inside and super yummy too. The cupcake was delish. Thanks so much for making my day much better. Highly recommended.

What a sterling job you are doing! My 91 year old Mum lives in Cromer and you have kept her spirits up with delicious home cooked meals and fabulous afternoon teas! We have enjoyed meals and snacks at the Old Rock Shop Bistro since they opened.Our recent takeaway meal for Burns Night was very tasty and ready for our collection time.We frequently enjoy takeaway coffee and snacks which are well presented and delicious.

These are difficult times: but the loyal staff at The Bistro have made considerable efforts to maintaining an excellent service. For a time we were able to be back and to "eat-in". Now we are back to takeaway goodies or "click and collect". There is even a delivery service. The team are working hard to ensure we can enjoy home cooking. The daily display in the window makes it all the more tempting to queue up, pop in and take home some delicious savouries and/or cakes. Keep up the good work: so glad to be able to support you. It can't be easy right now. Thank you Sam, Rachel and all the team.

Our daughter in Chesterfield ordered this to be delivered as a treat for us. We looked forward to teatime all day. Our meal was delivered promptly. Hot and delicious! We had the continental breakfast delivered for 4 people on Sunday 17th January, it was delivered on time and it was absolutely delicious, the coffee was piping hot as was the hot chocolate. Everything was just amazing, the lovely pastries, gorgeous fresh fruit and the baguettes with butter and jam. Such a treat. We will definitely be ordering this again.Thanks to everyone for brightening up a lockdown Sunday!!

Delivered on time . Bacon baguette & coffee hot and continual platter included a great selection of fresh fruit. A real treat as we can’t currently go for a coffee. Well done.

Had our breakfast delivered by Sam this morning while it was snowing. Croque Monsieur and a Bacon sandwich. Very delicious. Also had two haggis sausage rolls for our tea delivered.

Tried their eggs Benedict for breakfast - excellent. Washed down with a delicious flat white, my day was well and truly kick-started!

The Cromer Crab with salad and half baguette was absolutely delicious. If I lived nearer I would go here every day! Spotlessly clean and the staff very organised and friendly.

Perfect lunch stop on the coastal path. Wonderful friendly welcome from the young staff, lucky to get a window table so could watch the surfers. Great choice of healthy salad options plus sandwiches etc etc. Delicious jacket potato plus coffee. Highly recommended. We’d never been here before but will certainly go back.

Nice little cafe with friendly service and with delicious crab sandwiches !! Good Covid precautions are in place. As with anywhere decent, you may have to queue to get in.

Both of us had a superb crab salad. The whole experience from the food, the service and the way the staff dealt with covid measures was excellent. Definitely will seek out again when in Cromer.

My wife, self & daughter dropped in today, we were in Cromer just for the day & were determined to enjoy some crab! Owned & run by brother & sister, with some great staff too, it was a demonstration of how things are when you get everything right, it’s not easy I know, but why can’t more places do it!From our greeting, showed us a table, all Corvid compliant, our service was prompt, polite, very efficient, our food was gorgeous, 3 crab baguettes produced very quickly ( check first, it’s not always available I’m afraid)Teas & coffees, with refills for c. 1/2 price, it really was the most enjoyable lunch, it’s a pleasure to see a team well led & on top of their game.Congratulations, well done & best wishes for the future, you have a great, customer focused business. Love this cafe, always call in for lunch when we’re in town.Had to put our names down for a table and have a wander for half an hour, but a glorious day and already plenty to see and do in Cromer.Very impressed with their Covid-19 procedures, notices and working methods, really felt that they were doing their very best to run a business whilst keeping both staff and customers safe. Very good to see that they completely sanitize the chairs and table between each customer. Food as always was delicious, the other half had his usual sausage roll and salad, I was lucky to get one if the last Cromer crab salads (Cromer was SO heaving today, despite the schools being back that apparently the fishermen just haven’t managed to catch enough to go round). It was absolutely delicious, served with gorgeous coleslaw and hot baby potatoes.The other half indulged in a scone and I eyed up the gluten & dairy free chocolate & cherry cake, but was stuffed already.Service was great, friendly, with a smile, at a safe distance and very speedy as well.

Have eaten here a few times, yesterday stopped for a bite to eat, covid systems in place all good, however food below par, gluten free sandwich has to be "toasted" which leads me to think frozen bread, very under toasted so a bit soggy with fatty ham, did ask for chutney but had run out! Salad on side a few leaves and a tomato slice including stalk end, sandwich not even cut in half, poor presentation indeed. Hubby had sausage roll which he liked. Shall not be returning any time soon.

Went for a cream tea here, huge fluffy scones with choice of jams, and clooted cream. Also had the date tart - lush. Friendly staff, and good Covid controls. Bought the sausage rolls for dinner, lovely tasty filling and good pastry.

Stopped here for a takeaway sandwich. Staff were friendly, felt Covid secure. Most of all the food was reasonably priced and tasted great. Would recommend for a take out lunch.

Had a toasted tuna and cheese sandwich which was lovely. Loads of filling in it and warm all the way through. Took a while to come but well worth the wait. The place was clean and Covid restrictions adhered to. Well priced and worth another visit

Just been to the bistro for a coffee and cake and was very impressed with the measures put in place so the café was covid secure. They have a safe waiting area outside the cafe and clear guidelines about staying at your table and social distancing was maintained throughout our visit. Contact details were taken for track and trace and I felt very at ease knowing that the safety measures were in place. Also had a delicious brownie and lovely coffee!

Booked for breakfast this morning. Drinks (especially the white hot chocolate) were lovely and service was great. Its a shame that all sausages in the breakfast sandwiches are clearly cooked previously and then reheated. Makes them far too tough and one of mine as burnt through the middle where it had been cut down the middle and reheated. This is my only criticism. Otherwise, a great place to visit.

We come to Cromer every couple of weeks and often try and visit the bistro last time was a couple of weeks ago and as usual the food was good as normal staff friendly and welcoming as normal. Will be back again very soon.

We have just spent a few days in Cromer again and as usual,visited The Old Rock Shop Bistro each day.The home made food,service and atmosphere is excellent and nothing is too much trouble to make your visit enjoyable.Highly recommended !!

Great to see friendly and warm welcome whilst following all Covid pro cautions food was presented nice tasted lovely and good to have a cappuccino that was actually served hot not just warm

Having been here many times on previous visits to Cromer, decided must go again. 6 of us, so they put us on a table of 4 and one of 2 - no problem as the 2 'teenagers' were together and us 4 'oldens' (not really) were together.Lovely cakes and sandwiches.Precautions taken against the virus; perspex screens above the seats so, in effect, each table was segregated - but didn't feel hemmed in in any way.Very pleasant refreshment stop at Old Rock Bistro again - highly recommended!

On our first visit to the old rock shop since lockdown it was lovely to have such a warm welcome from Sam and his team. The food was good as usual. It was also very reassuring to see all the safety procedures successfully in place. Gentleman's afternoon tea for Fathers Day has just been delivered. Great selection of savouries and sweets with a can of craft beer. Perfect for my locked down husband. We are lucky to have such a good service from Sam and his team.

We have been regular customers of the Old Rock Shop Bistro for several years now and the food and service is always outstanding. This weekend we ordered a takeaway meal for two with a set collection time. I was early to collect but they found somewhere for me to wait, ensuring social distancing was adhered to. The food was freshly prepared and neatly packed in boxes that were but in a paper bag for easy transportation. The food was, as normal, very good and the takeaway service lived up to their normal high standards.

We have been regulars at the Old Rock Shop for many years so a big thank you to Sam and the team for our recent lockdown delivery. Chocolate brownies and flapjacks were as amazing as ever, a real treat and much appreciated. Keep up the good work. Can I just add a personal plea for everyone who can to support local businesses as they emerge from lockdown in these difficult times, the large multinational chains can look after themselves. Shop local and independent whenever you can.

Sam delivered a really super afternoon tea two weeks ago. Lovely selection of goodies, nicely presented and excellent value. Just looking forward to some moreof Sam's delicious takeaway meals, which are delivered to us. After 10 weeks in isolation I can now rely on Sam to cook some meals for me, hooray!!

We have always enjoyed the food at the Old Rock Shop Bistro so are really appreciating the takeaway deliveries while they are closed.

Visited on two occasions during a recent trip to the area The first was not a good experience I had a sausage sandwich which was more bread than sausage I went back a couple of days later and had scrambled eggs and bacon and this together with a lovely pot of tea was fantastic Recommend a visit

When in Cromer this place is our choice for breakfast and coffee and cake.A great little place so make sure you find a seat before you order.

We were shopping in Cromer early one morning and delighted to find the Bistro opens early. We had a delicious breakfast of baguettes with bacon which was excellent quality.

We have been to the Bistro lots of times, staff are very friendly,food excellent can’t recommend this place enough whenever we visit Cromer this is the place we always head for, they also do themed nights.

We went to this nice little Bistro for breakfast.

This was our second visit and just as nice as our first. We had a cheese scone, sausage roll, toastie and two cakes and it was all v nice. Pleasant staff and a nice atmosphere.

Had a fantastic time food was plentiful and very delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Came away very full and happy.

Called in for a latte and saw their sausage rolls so had to try one. I had it warmed up and it tasted as good as it looked. Followed on with a fruit scone and butter, washed down with a lovely latte. Good friendly service. Home made carrot cake, cherry Bakewell slices on the counter along with other goodies including large tasty looking Eccles cakes. Worth a try if in Cromer.

Visit this cafe most Sunday mornings as part of our walk. Welcome good and good quality always good. Egg’s Benedicts our favourite. Dogs welcome.

If you can get a spot it's worth a whirl for some homemade treats at lunchtime.
