I have walked past 'Q's Coffee shop & Bistro' many times enjoying the many wonderful aromas emanating from within. Last night, after booking and giving my list of dietary requirements to them, Isabelle and I headed in. What a light, airy and well laid out restaurant. We were, seated in an alcove which was ideal. Armed with my allergy list, the waitress and chef sorted me out and our meals were ordered. Such a slick operation. The food arrived, well presented and delicious. I went for the smoked salmon, crayfish and a tasty cod fish cake. This with crispy salad, new potatoes and my safe bread. Not a scrap was left on the plate. Isabelle had, what looked like, giant scampi with salad and new potatoes - there was none of that left either. A gin & tonic and a white wine to sip alongside. And on to desert: One gluten free chocolate cake with ice-cream for Isabelle and a deliciously creamy lemon posset, which had the perfect bitter lemon kick to tingle the taste buds. This was elegantly served in a bone china teacup. Isabelle told me her chocolate cake was like a morish puff of wind that melted delicately on the tongue. We finish off with aromatic coffees. A great choice of restaurant and I'm so pleased we tried it out and I can't wait to take my friends and family. Thank you Q's for a great dining experience.

I can't rate this place highly enough! For only a few pounds more than I paid for a Sunday roast at another local establishment, I got a choice of starter or dessert, plus a choice of meat for my main. I chose the roast beef, which was cooked exactly the way I had asked, and which came with a plateful of lovely fresh veg and some of the best roasties I've had anywhere. (sorry, mum!) Service was friendly but not overbearingly attentive, meaning that I enjoyed a lovely lunch and was left in peace to read the magazine I'd brought with me! Could not fault the food, the service or the very reasonable price I paid - and I'll definitely be back, as well as recommending Q's to others!

As a group taking a walking weekend near Fakenham there were some very hungry people piling into Q's Bistro. As a large group (24) we had pre-ordered from the set cost 2 or 3 course menu and the food soon arrived. Each course was swiftly delivered so no one person had to wait long for their meal, often a problem with large groups but not here. Everyone was very pleased with their meals, no detrimental comments being heard, which is unsual for such a large group. My pate starter was delicious and the pie main course had real, recognisable meat in it. Prices are very reasonable for such good quality food. I am very likely to revisit the area and when I do I will most certainly look forward to returing to Q's Bistro.

Our first try at this very popular evening that they have been holding for some time. The restaurant was full and there was a very happy vibe about the place, at some times a bit too happy. How they manage to produce such volumes and such quality of freshly cooked food from the very small kitchen always amazes but as usual the food was plentiful and full of flavour. With their usual friendly but efficient service a excellent evening was had by all.

The place was rammed but the owner and staff were able to soon sit us down and feed us. Had the fillet steak which was on the specials menu and I have to say it was amazing. Steak can be hit and miss especially if you have a good butcher, but this was superb. The brilliant Norfolk beers on offer help to sweeten the deal, so all in all, a good spot.

Precisely the type of cafe/restaurant you hope to stumble across in a small market town. Smart, sophisticated and stylish - without appearing to try too hard. A great and interesting menu full of surprises. Not the cheapest - many menu items share a £5.95 or £9.95 option (starter or main) - and it's the same menu for lunch or dinner. They also do special food nights - later this month it's a range of tapas courses which looked pretty good for £15.95.

Choice of 4 for each course was more than adequate. The food was served piping hot and a nice bottle of Chardonnay went down well. I usually opt for the Norfolk Brewhouse beers which they continue to stock. My only negative was that I felt the creme brulee had received a little overdose on the blow torch front but still tasted good. I know that they have a regular clientele which always augurs well.

I think we have to realise that independent restaurants do have a hard time at the moment. We have some chains in Fakenham who are able to offer a myriad of special deals but I do believe that if we don't support the independents then we will loose them. Q's makes every effort to be excellent at what it does and I am sure has given a lot of thought to how it operates. I particularly like the ability to have a selection of wines by the glass, large or small. The kitchen is small and so the menu is not as extensive compared to some establishments but there is still a very good selection which should satisfy all tastes and also enough variety for those who visit regularly. They make good use of a Specials Board.

We are now in the Christmas period so the other menu might be reduced however we were lucky have a full choice. It was a very long time since I had had a Caesar Salad so was very pleasantly surprised at their 'take' on it. The Anchovies were not salty which with the sauce gave a very nice background flavour to the dish. I thought that there would not be enough but was pleasantly satisfied when I had finished. My wife had the Fishcakes but found the sweet chilli sauce to be a little overpowering as the fishcakes had a delicate flavour. As I have said before, wine by the glass, small size is so useful with a lovely Piesporter going with the puddings. The Stickly Toffee pudding was delicious, the dates give a lovely sweetness which tastes so natural.

We were invited out by friends for a meal at Q's. First impressions are usually important. Usually a good sign are the number of diners. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was A quiet night - lots of empty tables all the time we were there. Menus were all over the place scribbled on a blackened wall difficult to read. We started with soup. Soup itself quite tasty but only 2/3 not very special croutons. Expected a warn bread roll but had the crust from a loaf! For the main course we chose the steak and kidney pie which was very tasty but quite rich for my liking. Gave the desserts a miss but had coffee. No choice of milk or cream just milk. Enjoyable company but overall disappointed with the ambiance, service and quality of food considering the price.

We booked for a table for their Mother's Day Sunday Lunch. This included our daughter and granddaughter aged 3 yrs. Despite being very full the service throughout was spot on, not too rushed but we were not left waiting, this can be difficult with a young child. At their suggestion the child's main course was served at the same time as our Starters which worked well. The food as always is honest food cooked on the premises, no dots of this or hints of that but wholesome tasty cooking. The Salmon and Dill Fishcakes my wife had for main course could have done with some carbohydrate (potatoes etc) but otherwise everything was spot on. My Chicken breast was juicy and my daughters roast beef was three generous slices of lovely beef. Roast and boiled new potatoes along with Yorkshire pudding and veg made a satisfying and filling main course. Two of us indulged in the Baileys and White Chocolate Cheesecake along with a small glass of Piesporter which complemented the indulgence perfectly. We wanted somewhere for a quick Saturday evening pre-cinema meal and Qs fitted the bill perfectly. Atmosphere and staff are very pleasant. The Qs platter was a lovely selection of crayfish, smoked salmon, pate, salami, hummus, olives, bread and salad. Home made desserts sounded nice but we didn't have time.

Popped in for lunch with my wife, found the place friendly, helpful, the food was good "Home Cooked" Style well done, nice presentation, wholesome, fresh, perhaps more Vegetarian dishes... Great value, If you ask for something not on the menu, they will try their hardest to please!

This is a small Bistro tucked away behind the cinema. The atmosphere is cosy and staff very friendly. Many of the customers are obviously regulars which is always a good indicator of a happy well run establishment. The food is freshly cooked and always to a high standard. The first thing you will notice is the vegetables bought that morning and cooked to perfection. None of the food here is frozen its all fresh and cooked a proper chef. As you would expect in a small restaurant the menu is a bit restricted but there is enough choice so you can find something to your liking. I have tried most of the menu and enjoyed everything. I really hope this place succeeds in what is a very difficult business it certainly deserves too.

A Friday evening visit without reservation brought us a lovely table and a nice welcome after our summer out of the country. We had a lovely dish of olives with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping sauce to share as a starter followed by a smokey fish pie and a trout served on a salad of lettuce bacon and roasted baby tomatoes and potato pieces from the specials board a beautiful plate of goodness, the fish was cooked beautifully and the taste and texture of the dish made every mouthful a pleasure. We had a glass of wine with the meal each and shared a lovely white chocolate tart for dessert. As always the food is freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Service is efficient and the staff are always pleasant and friendly. It is also nice to see a restaurant offer wine by the grape type, I know I like the richness of Merlot based wine so I am happy to have a glass of that knowing in broad terms what I am getting and I was not disappointed. Many may disagree but I do find that after the first mouthful of wine and the first mouthful of food then one tends to be more interested in the blend of flavours. The wine should cut through the taste of the food and then the food should cut through the taste of the wine but not overpoweringly so.Desserts are many home made and as so a lovely indulgence. The price of the meal and drinks was just over £40, you are getting freshly prepared well cooked food, the whole ambiance of the Bistro makes for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.
