The best restaurants in East of England

The Inn has undergone a thoughtless renovation of furniture and decor. The 2024 renovation had stocked the rooms with locally made furnishings from Simon Pearce and Pompanoosuc Mills. The current attempt at mid century modern is colorblind and insulting. The decorators failed to consider The College, installing Yale Blue headboards and bedding runners. The multicolored heads in the artwork over the couch are pandering to multi culturalism while failing to recognize that all of the heads are shaped like a patrician white man. It is embarrassing. There is one cute print of Kemeny’s car with a BADIC license plate, but the rest of it is decorated like a typical Homewood Suites now. The Inn itself remains otherwise lovely. The staff are kind and welcoming, the bed is comfortable despite its ugliness, and the location at Dartmouth College (Yhe Home of The Big GREEN - not BLUE!) remains perfect.

Lovely little coffee shop which stands out for delicious treats and excellent coffee. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Recommended!

We used to enjoy our outings to the Gladstone, but it has turned into a dirty, smelly and "clicky" place to eat or drink! Instead of being dog friendly it is more like a dog kennel - dogs annoy non-dog owners by licking them etc and sitting on the seating instead of under the tables. The seats and tables are dirty and the whole place is unhygienic - we will not return and will leave it to the arrogant dog owners who think everybody wants to be licked and dribbled on by their pets!

Very welcoming. Extensive choice on Food Menu and Specials Board. Good service, excellent food and good value. Our first visit. Won't be our last. Thank you Hoops ☺️

Spectacular fish dishes, prawn toast that will blow your mind, crab crumpets are incredible and the staff all knowledgeable and lovely.

Sewage smell on entry very off putting. Staff friendly and food ok but had to wait an hour ish between courses. Interesting that it was a library.

Fish and chips are great and tasty here! Friendly staff. Was quick and freshly made for my lunch break. Will be returning here again.

3. meals ordered tonite 2 were wrong .good food, but no good if they cant read? wont be back

Best chip shop in the area! Food is always cooked spot on and no long waiting times. Great staff who appreciate all customers who walk through the door.

Probably best pub meal in a country pub with the quality of food staff and atmosphere. Recommend a visit

YOU MUST TRY THIS PUB. The food was really good, it is not high end but very good home cooked food, the pub is warm and welcoming and the staff great. We went with friends who live nearby and will certainly be going back.

Cannot praise this lovely pub enough. Excellent and attentive staff, Fantastic service, amazing food and a lovely warm atmosphere......... I wish all Pubs looked after their customers as well as these lovely people do.... See you soon !!!

Dog walk stop over Guinness time
