Cheri's Café in Southend-on-Sea

Really enjoyed our lunch visit here. Lots of scrummy brunches and vegan and vegetation options. An excellent selection of tasty freshly made juices too. Very friendly and welcoming on lovely original shop front.

The best cafe in Westcliff! The food is excellent and the fresh juices and coffees are too. We’ve probably tried everything on the menu over the years and have yet to find a dud item. You have got to try their cakes - the owner bakes them herself.

Great coffee the best in Southend, Westcliff and Leigh. Service is friendly, cakes are amazing. If by chance you are visiting from Oz look no further for coffee.

Lovely cafe in Westcliff, nice food and drinks menu, relaxing decor and everything is very clean including the bathroom. The owners seem lovely too. A great place to catch up with friends.

Shocking service! I was left sitting at a dirty table (previous customers) with no menu for 15 minutes before I walked out. The owner & waitress attended to and served the orders of customers that came in after me despite acknowledging me when I arrived. Not sure why I received such poor service, maybe because I was a lone diner and not in a group but whatever the reason a customer should never be made to feel insignificant and have to walk out. There are plenty of cafes to choose from in Hamlet Court Road but one thing is for sure I will never set foot in your cafe again!

Love this place so much, the Persian tea is a treat, everything is done beautifully and in an area where food is overall quite plain, the flavours here are great. Staff also sweet and service is swift.

Great coffee n exceptional food, lovely people and really beautiful interior. But impossible to choose for meet ups, cos of unpredictable hours nowhere to check (website or social media) and nothing to identify it from outside if it is closed. Such a shame. Hope it can sort this out to thrive.

One of my favourite local cafes. Food is always wonderful, staff are friendly and welcoming and it's a wonderful place for quiet working for a few hours or meeting friends for brunch. Highly recommend the falafels and Persian tea.

I’m a regular at this cafe because I love the food, the vibe and the owners are lovely! They have gluten free options and you can relax with a book, bring your laptop or sit by the window and chill. I’ve brought so many friends there who are always impressed by the food and coffee! I recommend going - the chorizo hash and go green smoothie are amazing 🤩 - Naz

Wonderful cafe where there is always a warm welcome. Lovely menu with some really interesting dishes. Absolutely loved the Mirza and their turmeric latte is a real favourite. Everything is freshly cooked and delicious. Our favourite cafe in Westcliff-on-Sea

After taking a look at what I could find out about the 'new kid on the block' - their Instagram page - I felt Dream Yard Café was worth a visit. The decor and shop in general is lovely and very welcoming, particularly on a hot day. We ordered a Full English Breakfast, Eggs Benedict and iced coffees. Both meals were disappointing. A few of the components of the English breakfast tasted precooked and reheated rather than cooked from scratch. The wilted spinach atop the bland and watery mushrooms seemed out of place. The hollandaise sauce which appeared to be split and lacked substance and flavour. There weren't many customers when we arrived so I feel that service and quality of the meals could have been better as there was no pressure on the kitchen or waiting staff. The best part of my visit to Dream Yard Café was the waitress who was polite, professional and attentive. I would be hard pressed to return to eat here. However, all things considered, I plan to give them a second pass in around 6 months to see if things have improved. If you have been planning to go to Dream Yard Café, and you want to base whether or not you visit on this review, I would say: go, your experience may be better. I think it's important to give this lovely little café a fair trial. 6/09/2021 - stopped by this week and they were closed... not sure if this is permanent or not. 2023: Great to see such positive reviews of Cheri's Cafe - looking forward to visiting soon 😀

Another lovely cafe. Freshly cooked food, very tasty, hot and plated well. Lots of lovely cake choices, most home made. Competitively priced. They offer vegan, gluten free, non diary milk choices and vegetarian options within their menu. Service was excellent. Cheri and her staff are polite, kind and very nice. The cafe is nicely decorated, clean and spacious. Parking outside can be an issue in Hamlet Court Road but there is a car park further up and other side road parking if you don't mind/are able to park and walk. No step entrance, wide entrance door and spacious clean toilet, wide enough for wheelchair and pushchairs. The only criticism is there are no pull down support bars in the toilet for those who have mobility requirements. This is a shame because otherwise this cafe would be perfect for everyone but that may be an issue for some. Definitely worth a visit.

Popped in for brunch with my partner. He ordered the eggs Benedict and the eggs had a perfect runny yolk and the Benedict sauce was delicious. I ordered a daily special, which was dried egg and hummus with harissa, mixed seeds and corriander on sourdough toast. It was absolutely delicious, as were the dirty chai and moch we ordered. Friendly service, excellent quality and would definitely come again.

I love going to this place on Hamlet Court, it offers vegan options and also the owners go above and beyond in customer service. Really lovely people and place :)

Just picked up 2 hot chocolates & 2 slices of cake for takeaways. A lovely afternoon treat! Very friendly service & tasty bites. The interior decor is beautiful- I can’t wait to visit again and sit inside.

Very attractive café with friendly staff. Light and airy and the loo is spotless. I met a friend there for coffee and we were made to feel very welcome. I tried the Persian tea which was a new drink for me and very refreshing. It’s called Cheri now.

Lovely cafe with lovely staff. Great to bring my toddler with me. I had a iced matcha latte for the first time and I’m converted! P.s it’s not called Dream yard cafe anymore but Cheri’s cafe.

Absolutely extortionate for where and what it is and the quality expected. £7 for a falafel salad that came with 2 falafels, a pinch of rocket, 1 slice of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato!!! You get more in Central London from Pilpel or Falafel House for similar money and their overheads are far, far greater. £6.50 for a tuna sandwich, again, nothing special. Salad and hummous come from Lidl bags and pots, which I have no issue with, but please, price your food accordingly. I am always first to support local, independent businesses but I would encourage people to look elsewhere if you're hungry. If you just want a place to sit, then maybe it's for you and where the premium pricing is going. But if you want somewhere to eat, you are better off looking elsewhere. Take away prices should be far less as people are skipping the luxury of sitting down to eat. Owners: please review your pricing model and make a change and maybe you'll see more people through the door - especially during a sunny lunchtime.

Very clean ,good coffee and cakes only slight downside was that they had no decaf tea for my wife ,but she didn't really mind . Will definitely visit again

Really lovely place to have a coffee and simple food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great decor, food (we had breakfast) and pastry were very tasty.

I've been here three times now and have enjoyed it each time. A good selection of vegetarian, generous portions and excellent execution. A great place for lunch, or just tea and cake. The staff are friendly and take things like allergies seriously.

I can confidently say this was the worst iced coffe latte I've had - if I make it at home and use instant coffee the taste will probably be better . Haven't tried anything else though.

Nice place but stupidly Overpriced coffee and sandwiches: £23 for 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches!! Mediterranean veg sandwich on sourdough bread was so greasy, dripping with oil.
