The best restaurants in East of England

The was an outstanding meal! Soooo many pubs are formulaic .. not this one! We were staying close by and called in for supper… the food was absolutely delicious. Creative, full of fabulous flavours and excellent value for money. This food has been cooked by a ‘chef’.. not a ‘microwave technician’. We had the pork belly and the steak pie… ingredients clearly locally sourced. Lovely efficient, unobtrusive service. Highly recommend!!

Had an amazing night rounding of my birthday. Had a friend over from the US and the staff and owner welcomed him and made him feel like a local. An amazing place with true passion driving the pub. Recommend you stop by.

Lovely food and bacon still hot - only odd thing was side salad was coleslaw ( still tasted great)

Daughter’s ordered an afternoon high tea for five of us. Was seated very quickly and our sandwich orders were taken. The service to bring us drinks was a little slow, but that said it was extremely busy in there. Once we had received our pots of tea and sandwiches which were absolutely delicious, we were brought out two cake stands filled with scones, cakes and macaroons all of which was fresh and delicious. There was so much left that we all brought boxes home with us. There was so young man that served our table was very smiley and polite. Lovely place to go out too. Thank you all for such a super experience. Will be returning very soon.

Very nice chip shop, freshly cooked chips, super friendly staff.

This is by far the best local independent cafe in the area. I've just visited and enjoyed a breakfast bowl. It was delicious! They always have specials on offer. The staff are impeccable and I've never not enjoyed what I've eaten there. The food is always outstanding. They also have a garden terrace for alfresco dining when the weather is good. Best thing about this place is you don't leave smelling like a cafe either. I would recommend this establishment to everybody. They also sell beer and wine at lunchtime. 5 stars all the way!

Another fantastic meal at The Creek. Excellent service and superb food. Desserts to die for and gorgeous local G&T. Caroline and her team are so welcoming.

A prebooked meal for 3 ladies. The pub was very quiet and we're shown to our reserved table. I ordered a vegetarian dish, brie, cranberry and walnut Wellington served with new potatoes and fresh veg. One friend had liver and bacon withe new potatoes and veg. The other friend had chicken breast with a wine sauce and the same vegs as us. Our meals were very nice and even managed a dessert. 2 of us had a cheese cake and I had Baileys bread and butter pudding with ice cream. All very delicious. We chatted a lot and weren't asked to leave although we were the last to leave, they were open until 11PM tonight.

Absolutely lovely time staff are very attentive as I walked into reception the lady saw I could not make the stairs so offered me a change of room to the ground floor from the 1st floor the beer nice food fantastic will be back very comfortable

A beautiful spot located in the heart of Essex. Plenty of seating outside, we made the most of the English summer sunshine and enjoyed a round of drinks. Plenty of parking available opposite the pub, it is easy to access. On our visit there was even a stunning British tank positioned at the front of the pub. There are lots of food options, however as we were just stopping for drinks, we ordered two rounds of chunky chips, which we would highly recommend. All staff are friendly, and being situated in the forest, the area is nice and quiet. Would highly recommend a visit and hope to return for longer next time to enjoy their food.

Amazing place,food is exceptionally fantastic, music was lovely and the service was second to none. We had a great night and the price was very reasonable. See you all again soon. We will definitely come back.

This place within walking distance of a close relative, so when we visit about twice a year we usually have a dinner there. One again we were entirely satified and happy with our different meals , and the service and general hospitality were exemplary. I have other revues on here for previous visits

very clean and under new management miss mini cooper and miss Land Rover the manager are very nice and helpful 🙂
