My partner and I came here for our anniversary. The location of this hotel was excellent! It was close to the seafront and there is road parking. We stayed in a room on the 1st floor and it was lovely, a good amount of space, beautiful spot by the window bay to relax, comfy bed, great lights and the shower was perfect! As someone with a disability, there was space to sit down if needed and easy to get in and out. We had breakfast each morning, which was delicious and had a range of things to order. The staff are so kind. Overall, this was a perfect place to stay for our anniversary. We will certainly stay again if we visit Great Yarmouth again.

There were chicken steak and stacked beefburgers with triple cooked chips but also chowder, black bean meat balls and fish with gnocchi. There were choices for vegetarians and Vegans and they were open to accommodating any allergy problems too. They made their own ice cream and sorbets each day as well as offering a variety of other desserts. Service was attentive but not intrusive and meals were well presented.

Were guests at the hotel and had already planned to eat here so that we could relax and have a drink. The bar area is a nice relaxed place. The restaurant is quite small but tables are arranged well, not too cramped on space. The menu is limited on options, but we prefer a smaller menu as it usually means that items are cooked well as they have to stand up to many orders. We consider the prices to be at the highest of acceptable for this type of establishment. Everything was cooked and presented very well, meal for two with two starters, two mains, one desert and a bottle of wine was around £70.

We were staying at the Andover for a couple of nights expecting to go out to eat. Looked at the menu in the room the first night and decided to give it a go as it sounded interesting. Only six choices on the menu for each course but what choices. The food was amazing and couldn't be faulted so much so we decided to eat there the next night too. Once again the food was amazing. Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful, service staff were great too, never in your face but made sure you had everything you wanted. This is a destination for food for locals and is superb. Food was exemplary. Celeriac soup wow and the Shepherds pie a beautiful twist on a classic. Side veg perfect. Wife's pea starter and gnocchi were really different and so tasty. Wines I choose were all great. Very homely service from the two waitresses, the more experienced was excellent at ensuring the evening went without a hitch. Really a most perfect night with the food the highlight as it should be. Informal too so relaxed atmosphere for causal dining but equally dressing up a little smarter suits the place too. Quiet atmosphere as intimate restaurant. Great date night meal. WOW! The food tasted wonderful lots of flavours but all complimented each other really well. Starters done on to mains we both had fish which was cooked well can accompanied nicely. Although more fine dining style portions were a good size and we were both too full for dessert. So we decided to finish our wine on the terrace.

Cold meats jams, cereals, fruit pastries etc. Followed by a lovely cooked breakfast, full English, vegetarian option, eggs Benedict, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs etc. Would also like to compliment the chef Dave and all the staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. We stayed at the adjoining hotel for 2 nights and decided to dine here on our second night! It was a truly stunning meal. I started with salmon and sourdough bread, my boyfriend had the garlic gratin mushrooms. Then for mains we both had the chargrilled steaks with chunky chips, peppercorn sauce and peppered salad. Wow! Just wow! The salmon was gorgeous and just the perfect amount (would have liked a small amount of butter for the bread though?). My boyfriend loved the mushrooms and the gratin was a lovely addition to the dish. The steaks. They were beautiful, fell apart and melted! Wonderful food, great service by the waitress she couldnt have done more for us. Thank you for a lovely meal! The menu changes weekly which is fab. Breakfast was so gorgeous. Continental arrangement as you entered the breakfast room, pain au chocolats and croissants, jams and yoghurt. Cheese, ham and cereals along with fruit juices in carafes. They also had hot breakfasts cooked to order such as eggs benedict, full english or eggs/bacon etc on toast. We both had a mixture on both days and it was all so tasty and fresh - the pastries were warm when we had them! Just lovely - well done.

We thought twice about booking a table at the Andover House Restaurant, we were staying at the Hotel and had looked at the various other options very well reviewed on TripAdvisor. Our decision was eventually based on convenience, having travelled long distances the draw of eating in-house was too tempting for the six of us.I have to say that everything about our evening was faultless, the limited number of covers and careful time management by the owners ensured that our food was delivered promptly and staff were very attentive. The food was of a very high standard and showed imagination and experience. I had the crab starter which linked an unusual combination of ingredients into a beautifully presented dish. The Ham Hock scotch egg looked absolutely fabulous and the only concern seemed to be the size of the portion!Main was the sliced beef 'pitta' which was basically a posh kebab but very tasty, chips were perfect (seemed like they may have been baked rather than deep fried?). My only criticism was the size of the portion which beat me - not a bad negative really! The puds all looked great (too much for me) and were beautifully presented. Wines were well selected and offered something for all tastes, I would have liked to see more wines available by the glass (my usual gripe) but this does mean that if turnover is not reasonable the wine can be left uncorked for some time. The service was excellent and we all agreed that the overall evening offered exceptional service, particularly when compared with other local restaurants (highly rated on TripAdvisor).

A nice and relaxing start to the evening. Both staff who attended to us were excellent but I'm ashamed to say I don't have their names so can't give them a name-check. Much as I'd like to. But I am sure management know who was working the bar/restaurant on Saturday May 7th! :-)The restaurant is quite small but very comfortable and we didn't feel too close to fellow diners. Although there weren't too many other diners there that evening. As for the food, it was all delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. Sample menus are available on their website so I won't describe what we had suffice to say we thoroughly enjoyed each course.I can, however, recommend the sharing dessert platter. That was a perfect finish to the meal. There was also a lit candle in the brownie and the whole restaurant sang "Happy Birthday" which was a lovely surprise. Thank you.We finished off with coffee back in the bar area before walking back to our hotel having enjoyed a lovely evening. Superb food, especially the roast cod, follow by an inspired deconstructed cheesecake, Will definitely return. Only gripe, at £97 per night, they could have thrown in a cooked breakfast. Still wont put me off going again though.

Our first visit on reading excellent reviews. The restaurant was quiet and seemed cold and lacked atmosphere. The meal was fine but that special touch was missing. Overall an expensive meal that did not live up to expectations!

Tried the restaurant this evening with my son.The quality of the three course meal we had was superb but like the drinks expensive. The food although excellent would not be enough for a person with a healthy appetite. Both staff serving us were friendly and welcoming and the ambience pleasant, clean and warm. Would I visit again? ,possibly but probably not as I do have a healthy appetite and if I were hungry there are many better value venues in the area. However without any doubt few could compare with the well presented and delicious food we had.

Great all round! I was really happy with the food and selection of drinks at the lovely bar. The staff were incredibly friendly. I had monkfish and my husband had cod...we love our fish! Compared to a couple of fish restaurants we have been to, their fish was superb. See you soon Andover!

Four of us visited on Saturday night had to wait to be seated. Starters ordered 2 soup & 2 Prawns the soup came with no roll or bread and the King prawn cocktail was small portion not good value as it was nearly £7.00. Main meals came Cod and 3 Ribeye the cod had to go back because it was cold and had to be heated or redone not sure which. The ribeye was ok but tasteless the saving grace was we ordered peppercorn sauce and Blue cheese sauce which improved it. If you wanted mushrooms you had to pay extra if you wanted salad you had to pay extra. After the main we requested tooth picks they never came also early evening my wife reported no toilet paper in the ladies toilet when we left around 23:00 still no toilet paper. Not a good experience especially with Pamela's just round the corner very pricey food ok and more expensive night than our last visit to Pamela'sI don't think we will be back.

The chef was able to provide a vegan menu which had one choice per course. Although more choice would have been a bonus (not being a fan of beetroot) the food that I did eat was delicious and well presented. My husband also enjoyed his meal, and service was very good.

Friday night visit for dinner & first visit. Restaurant small with about 20-25 covers. Hit by a wall of noise as a party of eight women were in who thankfully were near to finishing. The service and greeting was welcoming from two excellent waitresses Soraya & Cynthia. I started with Ham hock scotch egg and the wife the Prawn cocktail. This was followed by Sea trout with samphire & new potatoes (15 of them?) & Lamb with cous cous moroccan style. To finish we shared a dessert Banana ice cream, salted pecans & chocolate jelly. This was washed down with a bottle of wine and two additional glasses to finish. Total £85 All food excellent and would visit again didn't stay because hotel is not accessible for people with disabilities.

A fantastic meal enjoyed by a group of us at Christmas in this fantastic hotel restaurant.Stayed here several times and the food is one of the best around. The menu is up to date and locally sourced with great dishes to choose from and really attentive staff and a very talented chef makes this a must when in Norfolk.

Very welcoming , drinks in the loung bar, shown to table in the restaurant, normal menu plus a specials board, we shared the asparagus soldiers with hens egg, both had a different lamb dish and shared a dessert, service was great, white gloves worn by waiting staff when presenting food, whole visit was worth the money.

We visited on a Wednesday evening and had a pleasant evening, the food was of a very high quality but I felt the finesse of the waiting staff was not quite there. They didn't have the professional standard that went with the quality of the food or ambience of the venue. Small things like no interaction with us, carrying drinks from bar to restaurant, not being asked if we wanted coffee at the end of the meal but very keen to ask us at every course of we wanted the wine menu. All in all a good experience but those finishing touches would complete the visit.

A modern sophisticated restaurant. The staff were professional yet friendly. The food looked and tasted amazing. The brisket of beef could have been eaten without a knife - so tender. The puddings full of interesting combinations. Two people, two courses, two glasses of wine £56. Excellent for the money!!

We have been coming here over the last five or so years, since it was recommended to us. It is definitely the best restaurant to eat at in Great Yarmouth and even in the Waveney area too. The food is five star. Delicious, a nice selection and well presented. The service is fantastic, friendly and professional. The surroundings are tasteful and airy. There is a courtyard to eat in if the weather is good. All in all, we had another perfect meal here. As an aside, the restaurant is for 13years and above.

Food was delicious, My daughter and I had the burger, not sure if it was beef though as it didn't state but I didn't ask because it was lovely. Husband had chicken something or other and he really enjoyed that too. Desserts gorgeous, too much cheesecake on the plate for me but husband ate that. Place very nice and clean, although I had a dirty fork but I just changed it. Staff need a little more training but overall experience was good. Wouldn't go back purely because it didn't have the WOW factor.

I chose the excellent tempura fish starter and followed up with a good fillet steak, all cooked well and served in perfect time. Excellent wine added to the experience. Judging by the number of walk-ins on the night the restaurant appears to have a great reputation and rightly so.

I describe myself as someone who sets a high bar but by the same token am keen to be positive and not nit pick. This place essentially is self absorbed, promises a lot and delivers little.Firstly when entering the hotel you are taken by what is clearly a very polished upmarket Bar, Restaurant and Lounge. All of which give a positive impression on your forthcoming experience/stay.We also stayed overnight here which I will deal with when reviewing the hotel proportion of this establishment on TA.We decided to have a drink prior to dinner - as I said I love the appearance of the bar, very cosmopolitan. I asked the lady who actually was the same person who checked us in if I could have a Bellini (pretty basic, sparkling wine and peach or raspberry juice) she had no knowledge of what this was which I can forgive but said this was not possible as you "only sell Prosecco by the bottle". Again I would accept such a process in a bog standard bar but a luxury establishment with a bar frankly as swish as this needs to decide what it wants to be. You cannot set yourself up as you have and then worry that you might have to open a bottle of sparkling wine for a Bellini and fear "I wonder if anyone else will order from it?" That is just small time mentality.I then asked if she could make any non alcoholic cocktails for our two teens whose birthdays I eluded to you when booking and earlier in the email. She said that would simply be fruit juice. For me it wasn't so much that there was not a plethora of knowledge of non alcoholic cocktails more that there was no desire here to please or accommodate.Regardless we had something more simple then moved to the lounge - as I said a lovely room.We then moved through for dinner.Onto the food - I think the choice of first courses is very interesting, exciting and relatively innovative.Presentation on most dishes was pretty good.First courses - 3 Pork Belly dishes and 1 pressed duck.Pork belly great presentation but as dry as the Sahara. It is almost like the pork was slow cooked but then deepfried to reheat or something - each side of the outer surface of the pork was dried to the point of being chewy. Also no seasoning at all - salt???Its funny because when I actually looked at the pictures of the pork belly dish on the website it did look dried but I put it down to the photo. My duck dish was skillfully put together with some great flavour combinations.I wasn't sure I would be keen on the raw beetroot but actually it balanced the dish really well with the orange puree and salted caramel - loved that.Again the duck was surprisingly dry - no idea why but it was. Again under seasoned.Main Courses 2 x Lamb Duo, 2 x Hake.Presentation of the Lamb very good barring the giant pieces of purple carrot that border on intimidating.I enjoyed the pickled carrot with this dish as it really offset nicely against the lamb. The breast was nicely cooked but under seasoned, the neck again was dry and under seasoned. The fondant potato was more like a big roast potato. The hake was lovely, cooked nicely, moist, great presentation with a really tasty Chorizo risotto. Desserts - All the lemons x 3 and white chocolate mousse x 1.All the lemons wasn't great - pastry on the tart was bizarrely chewy, the sponge on the "Thyme Sponge " was actually mistaken for shortbread by my partner as it was so hard and dry!Loved the white choc mousse soooo good and a nice choc sorbet. The raspberry jelly thing was totally tasteless.Cheese course was fine - frozen grapes are just weird and offer nothing.Wines were all nice, Chablis, Rioja, Port all good. Dessert wine is probably the worst I have ever had.Tasted like it had been mixed with water - bad.The service was ok - attentive and swift but again if you are looking to present yourself as a fine dining restaurant with aa rosettes (or michelin stars) you really need to get the staff to understand what they are serving. What comprises a duo of lamb should be explained to the diner (" here we have slow braised neck with blah blah blah") otherwise you dont know what is what and the chefs hard work is somewhat unrecognised.I think some of the menu is a little muddled - Haddock, Burger, Thai Green Curry, Rib eye all sit nicely under gastro pub but dont really mix with the majority of exciting first courses or duo of lamb, hake etc which are in my view are more fine dining...Last but not least - when booking I mentioned to the owner on several occasion's that it was for a double birthday and anything you could do to make it special would be greatly appreciated.I also spoke directly to the chef to affirm this to him also - he asked me for specifics in terms of what I had in mind and I said I would leave it to him to come up with something. Not one member of staff mentioned the fact we had a birthday in our party, nothing came out of a culinary nature, the sole gesture was some happy birthday confetti randomly sprinkled on our table. All I derived from this frankly was no one could be bothered - very poor.I have had more effort from the local Vietnamese restaurant on St Peters Road.I also saw neither of the owners or the front of house manager during our visit. It felt rudderless being run by a group of young girls - pleasant enough but no lead.Overally a place not without positives but with far too many negatives. They will tell you they have many people come from Norwich, I struggle to believe this based on my experience of AH and of what is on offer in Norwich.I suspect the owner will reply to this in the usual "party line" style fashion. They talk a good game but ultimately performance is pretty poor.Too much time spent telling you how good they are and being self congratulatory without delivering.

Dog friendly. Lovely food and huge portions. I regretted having a starter. Not because it wasn't lovely because it was but because it was the size of a main and I struggled with my main, a pudding was out of the question! The range of ales and beers was impressive too. When back this way I will be dropping in. Phoning prior to visiting is recommended. Parking is an issue, there is none at the pub and the surrounding roads are double yellow lines. There is a pay and display carpark two to three minutes walk away on High Street Photo. There is a stake on the plate!!!!

Very unassuming outwardly, until you find the entrance at the back. Walk in to the "Backstage entrance" a courtyard sheltered from the wind, and enter the bar to find live music, (Sunday). Drinks are relatively inexpensive and a very nice, friendly atmosphere.
