This is such a lovely place, tucked away at the back of the hotel. The staff are so friendly and we loved the cake. Our dog got a few treats too. There is water for the pooches at most tables. You can also buy bric a brac, at very reasonable prices. You sit outside, surrounded by beautiful plant pots full of flowers. It's so nice to be somewhere like this, instead of all the sterile, banal cafes we have now. We leave for home tomorrow but will definitely visit this diner when we return next year.

This is an exceptional place to have a bite to eat especially if you have dogs. It is ideal and the owner even gives the dog a dish of cut up sausages as a treat. The food is very good and not expensive. This is situated near to the back entrance to the pier hotel, it can easily be missed. But once you have been you won’t regret it.

The toilets are hideous. I had to use a dirty rag to clean my hands. The lights didn't even work in the toilets. There was wires hanging out of the roof. I could also see the breakers or fuse board things above from where I was sitting. 5/5 food rating? I think not. Even my dog didn't like it. The smell was weird as soon as a walked in. I went last year, hopefully it's gotten better.

We wasn’t planning on eating here, it’s only because we had our dog with us whilst passing through it seemed convenient, parking is pay and display but close by, first impressions is carboot sale. But because we had the dog we went inside, the staff were really pleasant, that was probably the only pleasant thing about this place, some would call it different or quirky, I’d call it a greasy mess. We waited a while for our food, I had fish chips and mushy peas, I got what looked like a deep fried yellow sponge which had absorbed most of the oil from the fryer, crinkle cut chips with a side of more oil and some tinned mushy peas. The building looks like an old workshop that’s been converted badly into a greasy spoon, lots of tat on shelves thick with dust, I probably wouldn’t visit again, most certainly not for the fish.

Nice looking place, welcoming and mega bonus points that it’s dog friendly (our dog had a great time and the owners were kind enough to give her a bit of ham). However our experience was a lot more mediocre. Everything was cooked in the microwave so was edible but nothing to scream about. Just mediocre, I could have made better at home which is not what you’re after when you’re on holiday. The coffee was weak as well, which is a shame. The cakes looked amazing but we didn’t try them, maybe that would have saved the experience. We’re not going back, the novelty of it being a doggy diner was not enough to save it.

We went for lunch, with our 15-month-old English Springer Spaniel. My husband and I each had a triple toastie, which was possibly the best toastie I've ever had. There was a doggy menu, and our Dash had chicken meatballs and rice, which he more made love to than ate (although it certainly vanished!). The lady running the diner was delightful, and very accommodating. We had hoped to eat at The Pier Hotel while there, but I'm very glad there were no tables, or we'd never have experienced this wonderful little diner. If we're ever in this area again, we'll beeline straight there!

Visited for the first time with my puppy and two family members, hoping for lunch and drinks. There was no menu or hand sanitizer on the table we chose although there was on others. There seemed to be quite a few friends/customers sitting near the counter. The food we ordered was reasonably priced but my toast was basically bread and butter (shown to the grill). I think you'll either love or hate this place, some would say quirky, others a cafe/junkshop which could be cleaner. As a new dog owner with family who live in the area I may visit again but probably wouldn't rush back.

Made a visit to the Doggy Diner last week during a short holiday break in Gorleston-on-Sea. The diner is very quirky, the food inexpensive, extremely tasty and everyone is so welcoming. What I absolutely loved the most though is how doggy friendly it is. There is a selection of treats that can be purchased for your canine companion, free gravy bones and a vast selection of gifts & paintings for sale. Impossible to leave empty handed and we will certainly be making more than one return visit. Simply loved it.

We read with relish the reviews saying that staff welcomed dogs so openly and warmly and decided to make a special trip to Gorleston for lunch here. We didn't mind the quirky stuff we quite welcome quirks in our life. Sadly there was little to raise it higher than a 2 star really...When we entered we were ignored for some time despite staff being behind the counter and not seemingly doing anything beyond chatting to friends (we were standing at the counter), we felt like we had interrupted a meeting of friends. Our dog was bearly glanced at, we had to ask what options there were on the menu for dogs - the answer is none (despite photos on their Facebook page implying otherwise and in fact a board advertising a bacon and banana ice cream for dogs was on the counter). The human food was probably pretty good for the price really (£3 for a jacket potato)but not sure why people would visit more than once.Very disappointed and definitely not worth the trip.Don't advertise yourself as a doggie diner if you don't actually do any food for dogs (you could buy treats for them by the way but nothing you can't buy from Pets at Home).

We just returned to this diner after nearly nine months away from the area. A new stove has been fitted to add additional warmth but, apart from that, we were pleased to find it still unchanged and as relaxed and fascinating as it ever was.Dogs are still the priority here! Well behaved humans are also welcome and can sample some of the best and cheapest coastal cuisine available in the South of England.Where else can you get a bacon butty, packed with lean bacon, for £2? Doggies eat doggy treats for free! This is a diner with a real difference! The management appears to concentrate on providing a comfortable oasis for doggies, a welcome for the companions of the doggies and a sociable atmosphere for everyone. If you ‘get it’ you will love it. If you don’t ‘get it’ then either give it a try and learn, or avoid it! This is a very different and remarkable eating house that adds so much character to, and is a credit to, Gorleston!

I just bought a take away lunch from the doggy diner. The tea was excellent, but unfortunately, the owner had had a busy day and had run out of most things. I ordered toasted which were packaged very well in foil trays, but I wish I had inspected them before I took them back to the beach because the toasted were made of the bread crusts and were very dry and lacking in filling. The cake was okay. This place is as its name suggests geared up towards serving owners and their dogs. It's a novel place with art and other gifts for sale. People can sit in armchairs inside, also sat on by the dogs or picnic tables outside. I'm sure on a different day the toasted would have been better, just not good for us.
