SW1 Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Fantastic, fantastic,fantastic ! Food , service and presentation outstanding. Myself and my partner dined last Friday and it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

First time visiting SW1 .. excellent food, generous portions, presentation was spot on too. Nothing was too much trouble to even changing the sides of my dish . Excellent customer service too … locals or anyone visiting gorleston has to try SW1

Exceptional meal this evening! I found it hard to choose from the interestingly varied menu but was glad I'd chosen the excellent lobster bisque starter followed by the perfectly prepared sea bass. High quality ideed and we're fortunate to havd them on the Gorleston restaurant scene. Thank you!

Lovely cosy restaurant very friendly service and good food

Went for dinner last night with 1 other couple and had a great night, the food was great and the staff really friendly and efficient. Really good atmosphere.

First time we have had a meal in SW1, as we are looking for a new favourite restaurant since the management change at our previous fave, The Priory. I think we have found it!! Sw1 is spotless all round, the food was perfect, and served piping hot, and service exceptional. Menu had good variety and catered for our fussy 9 yo! Lovely and warm inside, with great ambiance and views of the river. Can't wait for next time!

Not too bad. Food was okay, sliced bread with the pate and roast was fairly standard, Brussels overdone unfortunately. Also very quiet we were the only party in, so lacked a little atmosphere.

Lovely evening meal. We all had starters and mains. Great sea bass, wonderful calamari, excellent steak and brilliant service.

SW1 has it all, great location , friendly attentive staff and food of the highest quality. A great place to take friends or family .i am looking forward to my next visit. Well done SW1

What a fantastic Restaurant. Came for dinner with Family. I can honestly say one of the best fillet steaks I have ever eaten. This was our fourth visit and certainly won't be our last. We always book SW1 when we are visiting Gorleston. Lovely atmosphere and great food. Simon the chef/owner has a little gem here. He is also a great chef. Obviously very well trained and knows his stuff. Good wine menu too. Can't wait to be visiting Gorleston again. You can tell by the quality of the food he has some much pride in this lovely restaurant.

Lovely meal must I’ve not been for a while after being a regular customer. Everything was just spot on . Food was all perfect and drinks are really reasonable so makes for a fantastic un rushed dining experience . It’s clear that the head chef of this establishment is very well trained and produces top notch food. The tomahawk pork chop was a absolute beast and perfectly cooked.

This place is always fully booked and for good reason. I managed to get a table as someone else cancelled. The meal was incredible. You can tell the food is fresh and quality ingredients. I am terrible at booking in advance so i hope one day I can get a table again

Booked dinner at SW1 for one of our evenings visiting the area. So pleased my husband found this little gem. Lovely, friendly staff who served us a delicious meal made by the owner chef. If you're in the area, it's a must try.

The restaurant is on the second floor so you get great views of the harbor. The restaurant itself is has that cozy intimate feel, the staff where very friendly and efficient, service was excellent and the food was delicious! It was my birthday, booked a table for ten people. The waitress was excellent, nothing was a problem, had a wonderful evening! Will definitely be going again!

My parents chose this restaurant to celebrate the mine and my sisters 32nd anniversary of our Adoption. It was a wonderful evening filled with delicious food and drink. The staff were very friendly and accommodating of the food allergies some of the members of our party had and we're happy to make substitutions on food items. I had a medium cooked serloin steak and it was the best I've ever had! Cooked to perfection and very tasty. Will be returning with my partner very soon.

A gem of a find in Gorleston. Booking is important as this little oasis of fine dining does not open every day. When it is open it gets full and having dined there on Friday night, I understand why. We both had squid to begin, which was tender and crisp. My husband had what he described as the best ribeye steak in his life and I had Halibut cooked like a dream. We then had the lightest most delicious sticky toffee pudding and the cheesecake, both divine. We had a delicious and reasonably priced French Chardonnay to support all of this deliciousness too and were served with kindness and given great advice on our choices. We will definitely back to dine at SW1, as soon as we visit Gorleston on sea and only wish this was our local restaurant as we would dine there every week! Fully recommend this restaurant for cleanliness, food and service.

Me and the wife went here fore a joint birthday meal and was overjoyed at our experience.The restaurant is above a cafe and looks small but as soon as you go up the stairs you feel like you have entered a friendly warm environment. We were shown to table by a lovely lady (who was the owner’s mum).The menu is not massive which makes a change bit everything we ordered from a duck confit starter halibut main and sticky toffee pudding was cooked to perfection.The waiting staff are great and let you talk and eat your food in peace but are very attentive well worth a visit.

Couldn't fault the food or service.

We had my wife's 40th birthday meal here and as there was enough of us, they let us have the place to ourselves. They decorated the table beautifully and let us decorate the room how we wanted. Cannot recommend highly enough for a private event. Food was superb and the staff were excellent

Absolutely beautiful. My husband surprised me for the night and I was blown away. We booked to come here some weeks ago after reading other positive online reviews. It didn't disappoint. The food was fabulous, the prices very reasonable and the service was attentive but not intrusive. My wife had medallions of pork wrapped in pancetta and I had the grilled skate wing with Norfolk brown shrimps and home cut fries. Both meals were a knockout. We will be back.

Visited SW1 Restaurant Thursday 13th August for my 50th Birthday. Was originally looking at going to The Shed restaurant, however they are temporary closed and suggested SW1. After checking the reviews my partner booked it for six of us and we had a lovely surf & turf meal (£38) each, cooked to perfection and couldn’t fault. Followed by a sharing cheese board. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

We sat outside for breakfast and had a brew at this lovely place. Clean toilet and one way system in place, washing down of tables and visors worn so that was reassuring! Excellent cooked full english set us up for the long drive home. Coffee was good too. Pleasant and friendly staff.

Excellent. Great service...great food. Wife, mother in law and myself. We had calamari for starter, then 2 of us had steaks, one had surf & turf which was steak, Lobster and prawns. The food was really well cooked, steaks sumptuous and cooked exactly as ordered. Too full for dessert but, we will return to SW1. It’s now on our list.

As on our previous visit, all three courses were excellent, the highlight being the Halibut main which could not have been improved. The service was efficient and friendly, and we had a very enjoyable meal. Look forward to our next visit.

Great food and friendly atmosphere

Went to storm house cafe. Quick service even though lots of people were having the fried breakfasts, have a vegetarian option but didn't check it out this time. But will certainly go again. Good food, good service and reasonable prices. What more do you need.

We came here for a late breakfast. The cafe wasn’t busy, so service was very good. The woman was friendly, especially towards kids. Breakfast was reasonably priced and quick service. Food sizes very generous!

Our first visit to SW1 which we enjoyed. The staff were friendly and attentive. The good selection on the menu plus a few specials. Our starters were wonderful and well presented. Our mains, both if which were fish served with home made chips. The fish was cooked perfectly but the only fault no accompaniments such as a sauce and no one asked whether we’d like vinegar or any condiments for our chips. A know a simple thing but the chips on their own were bland . All in all a great meal.

We booked late for table and because we wanted to eat at 6pm, we were lucky enough to get in. The restaurtant is upstairs (the cafe being downstairs) and was lovely and clean and spacious. The views over Gorleston sea were lovely and if you came earlier in the year, the views would be fantastic.The food was fantastic. Hot, tasty and plentiful. A small restaurant, just back from Gorleston seafront. Quite a limited menu, mainly fish and steaks, but food was well presented and good size portions. Reasonably priced wine menu. Staff very attentive. A hidden gem.

I visited SW1 restaurant on Sunday, with my husband and grandson. The roast dinner was cooked to perfection. The lamb was lean and tender. The potatoes were fresh and tasty. The veg and Yorkshire puddings were delicious. My grandson does not like roast dinner. He had chicken strips and fries. Beans and peas were available. He thoroughly enjoyed his lunch.We all had dessert. Lemon roulade for me. Sticky toffee pudding with custard for my husband. Pancakes with chocolate sauce and ice cream for my grandson.we all really enjoyed it.You do not have to have a roast just because it is Sunday. There are many other things on the menu. The staff are polite attentive courteous, and nothing is too much trouble. All in all a great dining experience. Great value for money too! We have visited this Restuarant other times of the week. Everything I have said applies to every other time we have been to this eatery. In conclusion I cannot recommend this Restuarant highly enough. Looking forward to our next visit.

There are not many decent restaurants in the Great Yarmouth area, but SW1 is quite acceptable if visiting the East Coast of Norfolk. Nothing special, although the staff are very good and the ambience pleasant. Food is above average for the area , so definitely worth a try.My wife and I have been a few times since my original Report in July 2017 and recently visited with two other members of the family. Unfortunately it was not a special experience. Scallops as a starter were well presented and quite tasty, while fish cakes were also very well received. Main courses went down well, but how the cod could be accompanied with Jersey Royals is beyond me. This is October and the 'Royals' finished many weeks ago !!! I would love to know where they came from.My original Report stated there were no Dessert Wines on the limited Wine List and after two years this has still not been rectified. Surely a couple of half bottles could be listed for those who appreciate a glass with the excellent Desserts on offer.We will continue to support SW1, but only because of the lack of superior restaurants in the area.
