The best restaurants in East Midlands

Lovely little restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff . The food was beautifully cooked and presented. A memorable night. I doubt this culinary experience would be beaten by any establishment of its type in Lincolnshire.

This was my first visit to Mad cook and i won their munchbox and tried it as well honest opinion 10 out of 10 owner of tne restaurant made me feel welcomed relaxed and recommended me what i should try for the munchbox and i can say this was my best decision and felt pleased to support their business to become a collaborator with them long term friendship and plan

A gem of a find. We stayed 2 nights in our motorhome. Lots of spaces, but call ahead as they do get filled up. It's free to stop over if you eat / drink at the pub. If you want EHU, it's £5 a night. Toilets open all night. We had fish and chips, absolutely amazing and big portions. The staff and owners were so friendly and welcoming. Dog friendly, too. A lovely 2 mile walk to the beach, we walked along the beach to Mablethorpe Sea Front. Would definitely recommend it and will look forward to going back another time. Thank you.

Booked for dinner tonight, was ignored for ten minutes at the bar before seated. Ignored no end of times, no one had a smile on their face. Ordered drinks, left for 25 minutes ignored and no one took our order, had to go to the bar to pay the drinks bill as no one was literally serving us. First time here and service was shocking, a smile would have helped. Not one to moan but certainly a waste of our time, at least we know now.

We went here for a carvery for my mums birthday 🎂. The place is really nice and inviting the staff were helpful and friendly. We sat down at a round table, which was perfect for the 10 of us. We decided to forgo the starter and have the main, beef, turkey, and gammon on offer. I had all 3, and I thought it was nice, but some of the group found tuff, cauliflower cheese was nice but could have been cook longer and smaller bits of cauliflower same with the brocoli. Gravy could have been thicker. But the roast potatoes were very disappointing, still hard and not crispy at all, more like a hard-boiled spud with a tiny bit of brown colour. The desert was really nice, though.

Ladies loo has thick black crusty edges around the floor, a real sign of staff laziness. On cubicle liht (the one without the window) was not working, so not useable. Beer prices have rocketed since late August, by a pound a pint. There were very few people in there, and it was fairly obvious why. Businesses like this need to be well managed, this one has gone well downhill and will not last if this low standard is maintained. Like many other comments on here, this place has been excellent up until very recently. If it carries on like this it will close.

Amazing food especially for those with allergies. I’m coeliac and lactose intolerant and I had a delicious meal here. The menu is marked with what’s gluten free and their fryer only has gluten free in it so it’s safe! Best fish and chips I’ve had and those onion rings!? Insanely good 😍 couldn’t believe it was all gluten free! Great service too, very welcoming.

Thank you so much to Gemma and all the lovely staff at the Wooodhouse Arms for making our Anniversary Lunch so special. We enjoyed a superb lunch for over 20 guests and all three courses of the meal were delicious, the steak and ale pie was definitely a favourite. We were able to stay all afternoon in the private dining room which is delightful and well worth viewing if you have a special event to celebrate. We had a wonderful day with our family and friends, thank you once again.

Stopped on our way past and very impressed with the freshness and flavour of our lunch. Prompt and cheerful service. I also loved the Hibiscus tea. We sat outside in the sunshine.

Just had the most delicious afternoon tea ! It looked exactly like the pictures. Boxes on the table to take any uneaten cake home so you don’t feel embarrassed asking for them…..nice touch that. Service was excellent and surroundings were comfortable….Highly recommend……..we will defiantly book it again !

The two stars are for the food not the staff. The staff are very helpful and give good quality service. The food is another matter. First of all, the choice for anyone with a lactose intolerance is non existent. As is any choice if you are vegetarian or vegan. All the food items on that counter display contained cheese and the one vegan item looked tired and well, odd. Not sure if it was meant to be some kind of roll. I said I would have this but then asked it contained garlic, which it did, so I couldn’t have that either. I said I would settle for just a cake but was offered a ham sandwich. Ham is actually cured with milk so that was out too. I am ok with bacon so had a bacon sandwich. I also said I’d be fine with a slice of raspberry Bakewell. The bacon was undercooked and very fatty and I had less than half of it. It was actually the worst bacon sandwich I’ve ever had and pretty well annoyed that this was the only thing on offer to me in the first place! I bake a lot at home and I can’t understand why the Raspberry Bakewell slice was so gritty and tasteless? I only had two bites of that and couldn’t take any more. The only good thing about this meal was the tea, which was really good. £11.80 for this! The place itself is not how I remember it. It certainly isn’t as glossy as the pictures on the website show. The tables outside are badly in need of maintenance with at least needing a lick of varnish. I hadn’t been here for years and was very disappointed. It certainly isn’t as good as I remember it. The food I had was awful and felt pressured to have it as nothing else on offer. Sorry to the staff, they are really great.

What a fantastic venue! Amazing food, friendly staff, and a lovely, warm atmosphere. We were quite a large party (30 + guests) with a variety of ages and dietary needs, but everyone was catered for with care and attention. Well done Scott and your team. We’ll definitely be back.
