Fantastic afternoon tea, a lovely warm welcome and amazing food, scotch eggs soo yummy, compliments to chef and all staff. Thank you and look forward to seeing you again.

Excellent lunch we had the Seafood Platter for two, food excellent, excellent value and fantastic staff and owner would definitely recommend and I would come again very soon.

The best Sunday lunch I have ever eaten! Not normally a fan of a roast but will definitely be going back. Nothing left on my plate to take home for the dogs; delicious

It was the first time visiting with my friends for Afternoon tea. On stepping into the pub was a warm welcoming fire, just perfect on a cold day. The staff were very friendly and professional. We were asked to go to our table and Wow, the Afternoon tea looked amazing. The sandwiches were bursting with fillings, moist and delicious . The cakes were all home made and the best ever. I have never had such a mouth watering selection. One of my friends had the savoury choice. The scotch egg and sausage roll were still warm. I still can’t get over the size of the sausage roll. I sampled them as well and they were scrumptious. The staff regularly asked if everything was ok and kept us topped up with more tea. By the way the peppermint tea, in my opinion, is one of the best. We could not finish all of the delights on offer so we all had a doggy bag. A lot of care, thought and attention to detail had gone into making our Afternoon teas an experience to remember. I highly recommend the Black Bull at Donington. I will certainly be going back again to try their other menus.

Excellent meal, wonderful atmosphere with food you couldn’t fault. Can’t wait to go back and do it all over again. Good selection of drinks and menu caters for everyone.

We visited the Black Bull agin today for lunch with good friends. I have to say that we are never disappointed. The food is absolutely fantastic, and really good value for money. Staff and Management always make us feel welcome, and ensure we are very well looked after. We (all of us) would highly recommend this establishment, for meeting up with friends, or indeed a special occasion.

We booked a table of 13 for Sunday lunch following my wedding. I’m not sure where to start but what an amazing Sunday dinner. We were made very welcome, table was ready and waiting. Service was prompt, and drinks arrived soon after order taken. Now for the food - I can honestly say it was one the best lunches I’ve had in a LONG while! The dessert - sticky toffee beautiful. Portion sizes were good and cauliflower cheese delicious. It’s certainly a new favourite and we will definitely return!

We went here for a romantic meal. Unfortunately we were unimpressed! Firstly there is a doorbell in the restaurant that the impatient chef rings every time he has a dish ready, the problem is firstly it’s on full volume (very loud) and secondly he is so impatient he rings it multiple times, so if you can picture this, your holding hands over the table drinking a nice glass of wine and waiting for your starter to arrive, your trying to have a conversation and “DING DONG - DING DONG- DING DONG” why the management think this is acceptable I don’t understand. Unfortunately it gets worse because there is a very loud phone in the same area, this can continually ring, if the serving staff are busy they don’t answer it “RING RING - RING RING - RING RING” so loud it really spoils the atmosphere. Then you get a double whammy “DING DONG - DING DONG - RING RING - RING RING - DING DONG - RING RING - DING RING - RING DONG” I’m sure you get the picture. So if you want a romantic meal I would avoid this pub until they sort these issues, perhaps a old fashioned bell that the impatient chef rings ONCE, and stick the phone somewhere else (in a noisy bar perhaps). We drove a long way to come here for a special occasion and we were very disappointed with the noisy doorbell and phone CONTINUALLY RINGING. Come on management SORT IT OUT.

What a fabulous find. My friend and I both said it’s a long time since we had enjoyed a meal that much. The food was freshly cooked and everything was home made and absolutely delicious. This is a first for me! I don't think I have ever rushed home from a meal to write a review! We enjoyed an excellent meal tonight. Great food, first-class service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It was a busy night in the restaurant but REA our server was un-flapable! She absolutely knew the menu and gave us some brilliant suggestions. (That cheese board was a triumph!). What a difference a competent and professional server can make to a dining experience. To all the staff that made the experience so enjoyable - including the kitchen heroes who must have been pushed to the limit, many thanks. I think we have found our new 'go to' for a good, well-priced meal in a relaxing atmosphere. I will certainly be spreading the word that The Black Bull will not disappoint.

Had an absolutely amazing afternoon tea for our daughter in-laws baby shower today. Lee and Julie laid on the most perfect spread with an incredible atmosphere. The staff all went the extra mile to provide the best service possible. They are an incredible team. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend the Black Bull for any occasion. The BEST food you will ever eat! And the nicest staff too. This place is brilliant, the food is absolutely amazing and the service is spot on. The manager, Lee, is a true gentleman and can’t do enough for you. He knows exactly how to treat his staff because they are all so lovely too and the chefs will blow you away with their cooking skills! The restaurant/pub itself is done up really nicely, very clean and comfortable. Really family friendly, I took my 1 year old and the staff were fantastic with him. I visit this place frequently, it is by far my favourite place to eat.

What a wonderful dining experience! Cheese night which has a vast selection of menu options, that suits most palates! I started with baked boursin with bacon jam, followed by pork belly and dauphinoise potatoes and a cheese board to finish. Delicious food, attentive waitresses in a welcoming environment. Went this evening for my husbands birthday and what a wonderful place to dine. The food was amazing, a lovely table setting, a warm welcome by Lee and staff. We went here for an afternoon tea and it was simply the best we have ever had. It was lovely to see that they did a savoury afternoon tea as well as the dessert style cream tea as I do not have a sweet tooth. Everything was homemade and fresh, the sausage rolls and scotch eggs were to die for. Many thanks to Julie and Charlotte for their welcoming hospitality, friendliness and nothing was to much trouble. Oh my goodness… if you want to experience the best afternoon tea ever then this is the place to go. Food is amazing and such friendly staff.

From my initial phone call enquiring as to the possibility of The Black Bull holding my late mothers wake I was politely and professionally asked by Charlotte to email Julie the landlady directly. Julie couldn’t have been more helpful, she talked me through everything they offer food wise and said everything is home cooked by her and her team. We discussed where we would be seated within the pub and that teas and coffees would be waitresses directly to anyone in need. Julie coped with my worrying messages about ‘would there be enough to go round’ never really knowing how many to cater for…assuring me not to worry and that everything would be just fine. It all turned out absolutely perfect the food was all presented beautifully and tasted out of this world, everyone attending commented how delicious everything tasted. Teas and coffees were on tap from the friendly staff and presented beautifully for those that wanted one and from the bar the large selection of premium G&T’s all expertly garnished by Lee went down well. And all of this done on what should have been Julie’s day off! A massive thank you to you all for making Mums final party one to remember.
