The Moorings in South Holland

I visited this pub on Thursday February 6th, together with my brother and his partner. I ordered the roast of the day (beef) and was really impressed by the quality of the food and the portion sizes. The beef was really tender and the vegetables were plentiful and not over-cooked. So, this was probably the best pub roast that I've experienced in many years! I finished up with a really lovely cappuccino and my dining partners also enjoyed their meals as much as I did. The ambience was warm and welcoming, the service was friendly and the prices reasonable. So, all-in-all, this pub gets a "highly recommended" from me and I would definitely like to visit again when I am next in Spalding.

Love this place, the staff and atmosphere is great. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are awesome. You get more than what you pay for. Lovely place.

Lovely food, served in a reasonable time. I chose the grilled salmon with new potatoes and salad followed by lemon meringue with cream. Very tasty. The service was good and prices very reasonable. Would recommend.

We went yesterday for a meal, there were 4 people, I am gluten free. I was disappointed that the chips weren't gluten free. I ordered a small gluten free gammon. When my meal came instead of new potatoes I had chips. I queried that I had chips which were not gluten free. I told the waitress I had ordered a gluten free gammon and was told that she hadn't written it on the order hence the kitchen was unaware I needed gluten free. I didn't even receive an apology even though I would have been quite ill if I had eaten the chips. Also we ordered a lemon and lime which we were charged £3.90 for the lemonade and 45p for the lime. The food was good quality and very enjoyable but unfortunately the lunch was ruined by being served a meal containing gluten which should never have happened. An apology would have been nice.

What a fab place to meet up with friends. A lovely welcome, staff are friendly and attentive. The excellent choice of food is brilliant. We all enjoyed our meals from roast beef dinner, braised steak and scampi. We will meet up here in the NY.

Fantastic service and fantastic food. Our server was so friendly and the servings were generous. I had the chicken curry and my my husband had the braised beef. For dessert I had the apple and caramel pudding that was amazing 👏

Overcooked dry steaks and burgers. "Well done" steaks were black outside raw inside. Burgers were close to being charcoal. Food not up to normal excellent standards.

Lovely little pub reslly enjoyed my meal I do feel that my meal could have done with just a few more chips (fish and chips) but besides that the rest of the party enjoyed there food the specials were fantastic.

We have been twice and the food has been excellent each time

The meal was mediocre. The double cheeseburger meal was devoid of taste. The ingredients were obviously basic frozen. The chips tasted of slightly rancid vegetable oil. The salad was limp & my daughter had no cucumber with hers. Only 1 set of cutlery at the table & the server failed to notice, so had to get another from a nearby table. Mobile data was non existent inside & there was no free WiFi

A party of 4, we had main meals, all good and well presented.

We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening at The Moorings, being a local we have been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. The service is always very good and friendly and the food and drinks are spot on. It wont be long before we return for another meal!

Not the cheapest of places in the area for drinks, but friendly staff and nice atmosphere, garlic bread with cheese, would have liked it cooked a bit longer

A beautiful setting and a fantastic gluten free menu, I was absolutely delighted. Attentive and extremely helpful staff. The food was fabulous and we are all looking forward to our next visit.

popped in after a walk ,Really nice pub and great décor. Fab location on the riverbank with seating outside at the river Staff helpful and friendly No smoking signs all over but people vaping which spoiled it especially with eating

Highly recommended. Menu selection was good with a specials board which together provided a wide choice. The owners ran the place, were very attentive and provided excellent service. There were seats outside to look over the river which would have been nice if it wasn't raining. Good selection of beers, I had the Timothy Taylor and Camden Stout. Lovely. Would definitely return if in the area again.

So we went for lunch today veg great, gravy o k, nothing special.steak and ale pie full of dried up meet I'm sure it would have been yummy two or three days ago. Did I complain couldnt be bothered the guy that took our plates would have seen what was wrong.

The Moorings is a super pub with a cosy, nicely furnished traditional inside bar and a smart, double tiered outside terrace overlooking the river. Service was very good and our lagers were crisp and perfect. We didn’t eat but the menu of pub grub staples was extensive and looked very good.

Had seen the pub on TripAdvisor. Asked in a local shop for recommendations for a pub lunch and they said The Moorings with enthusiasm. A great choice. A friendly pub with a good selection of beers, an extensive menu and specials board. Meals arrive after a reasonable time - obviously cooked properly and not rushed. The burger was excellent. Melt in the mouth. The scampi was also very good. It was obvious from the customers coming and going that many were regulars. They were all leaving well satisfied. Sensible prices and good portions. Can't ask for much more. If we visit Spalding again we will definitely be calling in.

They do the absolute best Chicken curry to die for, the chips too are Devine 👌nothing is too much trouble, I’ve messaged twice now to book a table, and both times I’ve always had a reply back more or less straight away. Thanks guys

My partner and I had steak kidney pie with vegs, absolutely delicious. Staff were wonderful, no problem at all. Easy to park alongside road, defo worth a visit! Price reasonable too! Will be going there again in future

We sat here in high hopes for a nice Sunday lunch just the two of us we had some Coke which contained zero bubbles and was watery and also almost £4 a glass then onto the starter which was three small prawns for £7.50 but they tasted ok and a garlic bread which is a basic gb baguette you buy from any shop for around 40p with a bit of cheese on the top and three anorexic chicken wings for another £7.50 then onto a large beef roast each which reminds me of a microwave roast I had once as a kid very poor food I don’t understand how it had good reviews please don’t waste your money go to Iceland at least it will be cheaper on a good note the staff were all very nice cost two of us £70 I’d rather had a bowl of cereal

I absolutely loved it here! I'm from out of the area and it seems that finding somewhere to sit and eat just isnt something that is common around here as everything closes or stops serving food super early. I stumbled upon this place while just wandering the area and honestly, I am so glad I did! I sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the lovely weather while I ate. For an idea for people on price I had 2 pints, start main and desert and it was about £35 which personally I think is abit of a steal. I had chilli and mango prawns as my starter and I loved the flavor and loved the texture. It was nice and light with abit of a kick. For the main I had the roast of the day. My only complaint on this dish is I wish there was a second Yorkshire pud, but this is personal preference as I know not alot of people like to have too many. All the veg was cooked perfectly, beef was tasty and they were generous on the gravy (bonus!). The desert I chose was apple and black current with custard and yum yum yum! I'm hoping I can have another meal here before I have to leave as I absolutely enjoyed every little bit of it. Just to add, the entire place is well kept and I imagine in winter is it very cosy as I did see what looked like a wood burner fire. The ladies room also has sanitary products available for any woman that might need it. This is something I have only ever seen in my university and honestly this was just a little thoughtful touch that I felt was very fitting to the place itself. A little cosy home away from home.

Stunning place to visit have been a few times staff friendly and attentive. The most stunning feature is the outdoor seating overlooking the river really is perfect for a summer day. I have been a few times and eaten. The food is hit and miss.

Wandered into Spalding looking for something to eat after a long day. Found this friendly, nice looking place and was delighted with the welcome, food, location and beer. Really nice. Shame it’s not my local.

An absolute gem! We popped in for a drink, and we were served by Anne/Annie, so helpful, friendly, and efficient! We sat outside, in the most picturesque area, beautiful seating, alongside the rivers edge. We didn't dine, but we saw food coming out to the tables. It looked and smelt absolutely delicious, and by the large number of people dining, I can only assume the food was as good as it looked. The atmosphere of the whole place was warm, homely, fun, and very comfortable. The decor is 'spot on' kept beautifully, with a lovely wood burning fire. The toilets were just as lovely, well kept, well equipped, fresh and clean. Overall, an absolute 💯 MUST visit, if you're in Spalding, you will not be disappointed! We walked from our hotel, but there is an ample carpark, free of charge.

Been to the restaurant twice as wanted an adult environment. Both occasions sat next to a large family with small children on tablets and a crying baby. Also next to the kitchen door swinging open all the time. My partner was also scammed through the pay machine last Saturday.

It was Easter Sunday and we were close by, phoned to see if they could fit us in and luckily they found us a spot. The Sunday lunch was very well cooked all fresh veg and real Lamb not processed or messed about with . Staff very attentive and we were very quickly served with an excellent Sunday dinner. Thank-you to all the staff , will definitely call again when in the area, but will book earlier next time.

Last few times we’ve eaten there it was great. Haven’t been in a while and went for a Sunday lunch. Maybe the supplier or chef has changed but a real disappointment. Ordered the lamb and it was like the cheap reformed meat. Didn’t look like meat, very disappointing. Rest of plate was ok but for Sunday lunch you expect better than this.

Great local pub serving homestyle freshly cooked food. Great selection of ales and beers. Sports screens in the bar also. Will definitely be back.

Great place to dine, to have family get togethers

Superb, not many places serve traditional home cooked meals but this one is not to be missed, great selection and served piping hot, I chose liver bacon and sausage which came with roast and new potatoes broccoli, cauliflower carrots and peas, all covered with a delicious gravey, definatly will return.

I went for a meal at the Moorings with my wife and friends on Tuesday evening 6th February what can I say it was a 1st class meal everything was cooked and presented perfectly thanks see you all soon.

Lovely meal for four today , delicious but drinks pricey

Just had Sunday lunch...the Steak and Ale pie. Service was fast, the 2 lads were fantastic. Food, which there was a large serving, was very hot and tasty. Good value for money. Would highly recommend

The menu is hugely overpriced and the food served was soaked with grease- eveything is fried. We were shocked with the price of our bill and completely unsatisfied with the food and the amount served for the money paid. The service was minimal. There was a ghastly man sat in the tv area who spoke loudly about things no one should hear and beer being served at a wave of a hand. We will not visit again.

First time here on a visit to Spalding stopping in a hotel just down the road.Friendly local type pub.Quiet on a Saturday afternoon, nice cosy and warm.Didnt have any food but speaking to other locals apparently very good.Nice beer garden for the better weather.Lovely find.

Only stopped for drinks and some nibbles, but the pub was spacious and clean and tidy, and the staff were very welcoming. Good choice of beverages (can't comment on wine). Would recommend!

As usual a very good meal. I always go for the mango and chilli prawns then the fish and chips (small plate) the fish is very fresh and tasty as is the batter. The chicken curry is really the best in town always so tasty. The wine is a little over priced but a good bottle. Would highly recommend this place the service and staff always friendly.

A lovely cosy pub and restaurant. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them to deal with. The food was great throwing in a good pint as well.

Dropped in here for lunch rather than eat at Springfields. Great little place and so beautiful to eat overlooking the river. Onion rings are a must whatever you are eating. Great service and will definitely come again.

We came here with my MIL on Saturday. Had 3 amazing meals with attentive staff. The views were lovely, we were made to feel very welcome.

An impromptu visit as we were passing by. First impressions, the place itself looked inviting. The welcome we received, very inviting and accommodating as we didn’t have a booking. Homely and comfortable. We had drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the river in the rare English sunshine! Nice to see that the veranda was non smoking which was a modern refreshing touch! An array of choice of food and specials. Drinks spot on and food spot on. Burgers, fish and chips, Chinese pork belly with cheesy new potatoes, ribs (best my brother has had). Desserts were good desserts too. Couldn’t complain about anything. Everything was spot on! Will deffo return. Thankyou The Moorings! Xxx

A lovely location next to the river. The food was average pub fare, neither good or bad. The staff were friendly and professional. Prices are reasonable for food and drinks. Parking is a little restricted, but overall a good experience. I would happily visit again.

Not been here for sometime so not sure what to expect. As a coeliac finding places that offer gluten free is always on my radar. Was given a separate menu with a selection of mains and desserts. Food arrived was very hot and large portions for myself and my friends. Waiting staff very helpful and pleasant. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Lovely setting on the river & drinks ok. Disappointing FOOD. Not good value for money as mostly frozen and just reheated. Had Camembert starter which was breaded and served till frozen in the middle. The chilli prawn starter, nearly £8, came with 3 battered prawns (again a frozen Iceland offering).

Had a very good meal last night. Service was very quick and all staff seemed very friendly. Food was served in good time and was nice and hot, I had salmon and my Husband had the steak and kidney pudding, Quantity and quality of food both good. Very nice pub to visit.

I only collected my wife from here after a works meal. However I was asked in It's a very friendly environment and I am told the food is 1st class The moorings is in a fantastic setting with the river running directly behind the building My wife and I plan to revisit for a meal and a few drinks
