Moulton Windmill in South Holland

My friend and I visited here on Saturday 6th April 2024. Our Guide, John was an encyclopedia of very interesting information . He did not talk down to us but engaged us into his tour and asked us often for any questions. It is a fascinating glimpse back into history spanning 200 years . Quite awesome how they even managed to build it in those times. Very enjoyable.

A lovely spot. The Mill is lovely and a great piece of history. The coffee and cake was great! They also do sandwiches but we didn't have one. I bought some pear and ginger jam... looking forward to that for breakfast! Worth a visit!!

Great example of a working windmill, has been well looked after and in great condition, the guys looking after it were lovely, our tour guide was full of information and very engaging, the tea room is lovely too, thankyou.

The windmill tour is very interesting and informative, the staff are very accommodating . The tearoom room is very pleasant and reasonable priced

Lovely little tea room and the tour of the windmill by Alan was excellent. How these volunteers keep this grade one listed building going on a shoestring is unbelievable. Has to be visited - a real must. Make sure you're OK with narrow stairs if you want to do the tour. Only open weekends, but check regarding group visits.

Nice windmill, ample parking and place to stop off and eat. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to do the tour, as our little one was wrestless.

Only recently reopened and definitely worth a visit. Open only weekends and Bank Holidays currently. A nice tea room and obviously a very impressive windmill that you can have a tour around with one of the knowledgeable and very friendly volunteers.

Tours by the hour for what is allegedly the tallest Windmill in Britain. If one does happen to be in the area then it's absolutely worth the visit and the staff and management are very friendly.

The building have quite an interesting story. It is worth to pay for a tour. It was a very good experience. I wouldn't recommend to come with chipdrens they would find probably boring, but as an adult this landmark worth to visit. The staff are very friendly.

Great place staff were great we had tea only but there tea scones and jam strawberry creams teas was only £4.00 great value looked amazing.

Atmospheric cafe which is dog friendly. Local produce on sale and guided tours at the weekends.

Lovely windmill we had a tour to the top and the guide was very knowledgeable. The tea room does lovely scones and cakes.

Didn't do Windmill this time will save for another time, nice cafe had a lovely sandwich, they were setting up some afternoon teas whilst I was there they looked scrummy. Facilities clean and tidy well worth a visit.

Brilliant place to visit. We took grandchildren (aged 3 & 5) who loved climbing the stairs ever higher. Great little cafe on site too

Made very welcome by a small group of volunteers, who are trying to save this windmill that is the tallest in England. Very informative tour.

Great guys give a lovely in-depth tour and great girls serve your tea and snacks. Too cheap! Thank you to all the volunteers who keep this historic workhouse alive.

I love windmills but have never had such an interesting and fantastic guided tour. John the tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting

We have live in the area for 2 years now and decided today now restrictions have lifted to make a trip to the wonderful places around Spalding. The windmill is a beautiful building, well looked after and to really give it the edge you will meet the most passionate wonderful staff while visiting. On arrival we spoke to Alan who arrange us to be showed around the mill, while we waited he gave us a little bit of info and a lovely welcome intro. We did the tour of the windmill and John was a great help showing us around and explaining things to us and kept it interesting. The building has so many original features and the parts which have been restored are clearly done with great care. After we sat in the cafe and had some cake and coffee, Alan waited our table with good manners and great fast service. The cakes where lush and coffee decent. It also sells some produce from local suppliers and flour made at the mill. We purchased a fee items and all are great quality and tasty, not to mention more than reasonable for the price. Definitely worth a trip and tour of the mill and will be a regular visit for a piece of cake and cuppa for us! Thank you team!

Popped in for a quick drink as didn't have time to do the tour. Very friendly volunteers, we will return.

Lovely, very informative guide, tour took around an hour, could be quicker if you are nimble on the small staircases, nice coffee in the cafe as well...

Beautiful windmill in a lovely village

An informative visit, although our guide needed to listen a bit more. He gave, at times, too much info and the visit seemed to drag in places. We saw the sign from the main A17 and had a look. Limited parking, lucky there was space for our motorhome in the street. The public walk threw the church yard beside the mill is lovely.

Moulton windmill is a good place to come for all ages and we'll worth the visit. It's very reasonably priced and has a lovely tea room that has cakes,scones,teacakes and a good selection of sandwiches. The tour around the windmill is very interesting. The Views are amazing from the windmill,. If you have binoculars it's worth taking them with you,as you can see for miles all around you. I'm so pleased that this windmill is preserved as a working mill and is great to see in this day and age.

Heritage Flour Windmill Museum well worth a visit. Excellent volunteers and very knowledgeable. Spent a good hour and a bit there. Good views from the top of the windmill.

What an absolute gem. So much amazing history in this building. Our tour was lead by Alan. If you are in the area go, we have two girls 11 and 9 and they loved it too. A challenge for the girls as they went around, with a prize at the end. They loved learning about the grinding stones. We had a coffee and browse in their shop. Delicious oats for a creamy porridge. Go and support an important part of moulton history.

The Tallest Windmill left and the sails still turn round but it was supposed to be open via info from a paper called the voice in spalding but on arrival it was closed until further notice but when it finally opens will return for a visit as the outside was brill

I am a volunteer guide at Moulton Mill . The tour takes about an hour and there is a first class tea room. see web site for opening times and special events.

The tea shop is really good. The locals are friendly. Downside is, not open every day. Check before you go.

Tallest windmill in England, lovingly restored by local volunteers, who will happily show you around. Little cafe serving cream teas to rest on after your climb to the top!

This is a fascinating windmill to visit. It's in excellent condition and located in a lovely little village. It has a nice cafe and gift shop and good parking. We go there every couple of months to a quiz night they put on which includes delicious fish and chips from the chip shop opposite. They have several things going on throughout the year so pay it a visit and you won't be disappointed.

Climb the tower and see for miles across the fens.

Nice stop on a bike ride. Had a sarnie, a cuppa and a chat. If only I'd had the time to take a tour.

Windy miller working windmill open to the public hungry eat a meal in the resturant on the end of your tour 5 different levels to climb up by stairs lift to first floor rooms available to hire.

A very interesting tour of this windmill, built in 1822. The guide was very knowledgeable and keen to pass on his enthusiasm, and there were diagrams and samples to explain how things worked. After all this (the tour took an hour) a cup of nice coffee and a slice of cake in the cafe were most welcome. Thanks to all the staff, for giving your time so generously to make this possible.

We (2 of us) had an excellent guided tour of the windmill by a volunteer guide. Lots of steep steps in the windmill. Easy access to their small cafe selling drinks, cakes and sandwiches. Well worth a visit.

Always have a cup of tea here. It is such a beautiful building.

Basic cafe food, well-made, good coffee/tea. The mill caters for disabled persons including wheelchair users (lift). Able-bodied can go up the insides of the mill whilst being watched on a big screen in the cafe. The Mill does make its own flour, there are various gifts and collectables to purchase. An enjoyable way to spend the afternoon

Great little visit for the kids

Fabulous site and sight. The windmill can be seen from miles away. A very iconic view. The Windmill is run totally by volunteers, who are very enthusiastic. We turned up just as they were about to close up, and we were welcomed warmly all the same. We bought a couple of souvenirs, and will definitely go again, when in the area, at a time the Windmill is open. Open or not, it's a wonderful thing to see.

What a beautiful place. All the volunteers were very helpful as I am disabled. The craft fair was lovely, and the stall holders were in the Christmas spirit. The cafe was nice and the prices reasonable. Great time, will definitely go back.

The wife and I decided to cycle to Moulton Windmill one Saturday from Wisbech. What should have been a 19 mile ride turned into a 32 mile to get to the venue as we took a wrong turn...! This mean't that we arrived about an hour later than we had planned (14:15 approx.). We knew that the Cafe served hot food between 12 and 2pm so we just missed out on a hot option.We looked at what was available and opted to have some of the pre-packed sandwiches, packet of crisps, for dessert we chose the cream tea and a slice of Victoria sponge.The sandwiches were very tasty but the cake and scone were something else...absolutely delicious, will definitely be heading back to this venue again (hopefully in time to sample the hot food). The cost of our pitstop was very reasonable and certainly not overpriced.We did not venture on any tours of the windmill, however the gift shop (in the cafe) is stocked with flour that has been milled at the venue, jams, honey's and various other items available.
