Stayed here for 3 nights whilst working in the area.. what a beautiful place. The Mash Tun room was quirky with everything you could possibly need including a tranquil garden to the rear. The bluebell inn has a proper country pub vibe, amazing food and the lovely family that run it really make you feel welcome. Can only wish my stay was longer!

What a find. One of the most comfortable pubs we have been in. First class service. Very accommodating staff. Now the even better bits. Has its own brewery on site. Very tasty real ale. Food first class. Wife had the lamb steak with wedges. I had pork medallion in a mango and pineapple sauce. Three days later we are still talking how good it was. The other good thing is it is a motorhome stopover. Thank you to all who made our evening very enjoyable. It is a shame we live 200 miles away.

Awful pub, landlord gave a cold reception and not very friendly. Would have had a Warner reception on Pluto. Food was diabolical. Apart from the fish that was ok, the sauce was swimming in water, peas had no taste more like been soaking in water for a week. My OH had the calvery, this was worse than my meal, full of fat, vegetables looked like lastnight ls leftovers. No offer of table saucers. Over heard other customers saying meat was awful.Comming to pay. Never asked how the meal was just grabbed money and no word of a Thank-you. Avoid this place, plenty of better places than this.

My wife and myself had a week stay at the attached caravan site. We was met by the owner on arrival and a very nice one to, he showed us to our pitch and gave out information as to the facilities on site. The price for an overnight stay is more than reasonable with an added discount if you ate in the restaurant. We opted to eat in the restaurant and was not than satisfied. The food was first class and the service was to a very high standard. The bluebell in is not only a pub/restaurant it also has it's own brewery on site where it produces it's own ale. Although I didn't order the carvery I will do in the future because it looked very nice with a good choice and the conversation going on around the restaurant about the carvery was very positive. Onto the caravan site attached, it's a member of the caravan and motor Home club and is labelled as a CL site. The pitches are all hard standing and the upkeep of the site is first class. We where very pleasantly surprised when during our stay the landlord would suddenly turn up at our caravan with a pitcher of ale, this was most gratefully received and enjoyed. He also informs me that a keen motor Home owner himself he has been known to lend out a car to guests with motorhomes so they have another means of transport during there stay. This is another example of the quality of the bluebell hospitality. This has been a very enjoyable stay for us and can highly recommend this venue. As for us we will definitely be staying again and make it a regular in our caravan holidays. 10 out of 10. Thanks to all at the bluebell inn. Karl and Samantha Stevens

Ordered blue cheese bake. Not a bake rather a load of unseasoned, soggy veg swimming in cream with no blue cheese in sight, topped with new potatoes in a humongous bowl. Very unpalatable. Other guest ordered spicy fajitas and came up as 2 huge wraps stuffed with over spiced soggy veg. Other guests enjoyed their meals. We didn't complain as it was someone's birthday and didn't want to upset them. Won't go back and definitely not worth the £100 for 4 of us. The Bluebell Inn sites out in the fens. A lot of the customers are regulars and a lot come out from the surrounded areas. I live about 5 miles away. It does get busy so you really need to book to get a slot you want.If you are used to old pubs that have been taken over by a chain, been given a makeover and serve one of the standard menus, then it might not be your thing. However, if you are looking for a pub that has maintained it original charm, are partial to a pint of ale from the onsite brewery, and like good portions of food at a reasonable price, you may like it. I would also say that this is not a gastro pub nor is it trying to be. We (myself, mother, wife and kids (15 &13) ate from the carvery menu. The choice of beef, pork or chicken is collected from the carvery and you help yourself to the vegetables or salad is an option too. The meat servings are generous and very nicely cooked. The vegetables where about as good as you get for this sort of service. I would say it is not a fully waitered service and if you want drink during the meal you are best go ask for them yourself. Some of the sweets are big enough to share between too and there is a choice of some classics. We did not eat of the menu or specials board but that looked equally inviting.I have been here several on several occasions over many years and would use again.

We very recently stayed in our motor home on the Caravan Club CL adjacent to and owned by John and Jenny. What a find! The CL is the best we have stayed at in over 30 years of caravanning and motorhoming with very attractive landscaping and meticulous attention to detail in the provision of hard standing for each unit, free wi-fi throughput the site, clean and well maintained toilet and shower in the pub (accessible 24/7) and information kiosk. This is exceptionally well priced for the facilities offered and comes with a £5 per night reduction for each day a meal is eaten in the pub.The pub is a freehouse and has it's own small brewery attached where they brew three very good beers. John is an exceptionally friendly landlord and makes all welcome at both the pub and the CL. He joined us at our table to take our food order as we were seated in the bar, then when our food was ready we were shown to our table in the restaurant by one of the friendly waitresses. The restaurant is in two areas, the smaller one being of a more traditional pub style and the larger area being more modern. Although not completely full, both were busy without being overcrowded.Between us we enjoyed the meat curry and the bass, which was served with wedges and mixed vegetables. Both were excellent and were followed by a summer fruit sundae which we shared as we were so full. Fortunately we didn't have far to go to reach our motor home. The food, wine and beer were delicious and very competitively priced. In short, I can't fault either this CL, pub or restaurant. Fortunately we have friends and relatives living in various directions within an hour or so of The Bluebell so we shall make use of every opportunity to visit this lovely place now that we have found it!

We were greeted and shown our table so that we could leave the birthday balloons there then went back to the bar for drinks and to order our food. 3 of us tried their own beer, to which I enjoyed the Ingle Dingle. We proceeded back into the dining area and 3 of us had decided to have the carvery whilst others had decided to have various other meals. Chicken with a Stilton and mushroom sauce, duck with a brandy and cranberry sauce, lamb with a mint gravy, pork with a JD sauce and some steaks. Everybody enjoyed their food although my daughter did say the duck would have been better if it had been a bit pinker but she still enjoyed it. Overall a good meal was had by all.

I rang the Hotel, to get directions, on the Friday. We arrived Saturday morning about 10:45 and were advised by the Landlord that they didn't open until 12. He also added "Did you ring yesterday" which I thought was brilliant. We went for a walk with our dogs and got back to the pub for 12. It was a red hot day and we were delighted to discover a beautiful beer garden. We had only been sat a few minutes when a lady brought us water for the dogs, without us asking. I went to the bar and brought a menu to our small party of 4. Just before I was about to go to the bar, the Landlord came to our table to take our order, to save us going to the bar. The meal came after mayber 15 to 20 minutes or so. My wife thought it was the nicest meal she had ever had whilst eating out. Mine was lovely and our 2 friends were more than pleased with theirs. We stayed there for 2 hours and when I went to the loo, I coiuldn't help but notice how clean they were (.'m a bloke and don't always pay that much attention to toilets). Although we sat outside, if the weather doesn't allow, the inside of the pub is tastefully decorated and we'd have enjoyed it just as much. I forgot to ention that they have their own brewery in a barn next door - I had a pint ogf ingle dingle I think it was called for £3 if I recall correctly - was really nice but I could only have as I was driving. Sorry if this is chapter and verse but it was such a pleasant experience I don't think a few words would give it justice.

We were visiting friends in the local area and as it was a special occasion decided to go out for dinner on Saturday night. On arrival we were ushered into the bar where we ordered drinks (from the brewery which was good) and then, as others have commented, our order was taken. All looked very promising. Unfortunately things went downhill from there. The starters were very ordinary. A heap of small frozen prawns and deep fried fish cakes, whitebait in batter. The surly young waiter reluctantly got us a bottle of wine, plonked it in the middle of the table and left. In fairness the starters were at least edible unlike the main course. The 'special' duck in brandy and cranberries was so tough and overcooked it was inedible, the lamb steak was overwhelmed by the herb crust and the 20oz T-bone steak was undersized. Even the Lincolnshire new potatoes (famed for being the best in UK) were tasteless ... oh dear :-( Nobody came to ask us if everything was ok through the whole course. We complained to the landlord when he came to collect the [still very full] plates and explained the situation. He replied that 'it would be sorted'. Expecting some form of apology, offer of replacement or even a reduction of the bill we waited. Alas nothing. We decided to cut our losses and order dessert. Feeling it was a safe option two of the party asked for the 'local raspberries' hoping for a small bowl of fruit. Out came two enormous strawberry sundaes. Following our rejection the waitress retreated only to return with two enormous raspberry sundaes! eventually we got an additional plate of raspberries to share. The restaurant was empty by now. It had taken 2.5 hours for the Bluebell blues experience. Somewhat stunned we paid and left. I'm afraid that we cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

We were then invited into the dining room to eat our food.My husband had the rump steak which was particularly good and was cooked to perfection. I had Cod with salad and chips and couldn't finish it all. The service was very good and was excellent value for money. I would certainly recommend the Bluebell Inn to anyone in the vicinity.

The bluebell inn and bluebell fields campsite are a real gem. The site has 5 hardstanding pitches with electric hook up washing up area, shower and toilet facilities. There is even an information room and the best of it is if you eat in the pub you get a £5 reduction on site fees per night!!!. We had a lovely meal the portions are enormous and very reasonably priced. I can recommend the salmon with prawns and creamy parsley sauce it was delicious . The atmosphere is very friendly and John the landlord is so so obliging. We would certainly recommend that you stay and eat here. One of the best places we have visited.

I visited with my family today for a carvery lunch for mothers day. We have been before as a family and we have always enjoyed the food but today I was disappointed, the meat was lovely but the potatoes were very overcooked, not much of a selection of vegetables and the swede mash was very spicy and had a really odd taste to it! I think it was overpriced for the minimal variety of food on the carvery. Since my last visit we have visited much better restaurants for a carvery so I will not be returning for a Sunday lunch. I however can't speak for the food from the main menus. The restaurant itself is very nice to dine in, the owner could be more friendly and welcoming but the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and helpful.

This is a popular pub and restaurant with a couple of parties present as well as couples and small groups. Decor more than somewhat outdated - memories of a Berni Inn of about 1965 comes to mind. Staff very pleasant and the landlord has clearly implemented "a system" and the staff are not keen to deviate from it. Ordering is therefore not straightforwards. As the bar was packed we asked tog o straight to the table but this did not accord with "the system" and there was some real doubt that the manager would be able to find us to take the order - he did though!Varied menu with an amusing twist (all items grouped on the number of legs (nil = fish, vegetarian; two = poultry; four = beef, lamb etc). All fine but unremarkable. Portions large.Dessert menu on an easel in an artists frame - a somewhat pointless gimic. Many of the tags attached to the picture were curled and tired so the waitress had to explain it all anyway. Not in keeping with the main menu. Nothing wrong, just very odd.Excellent value as prices very fair for the portions and quality.

What a nice friendly place this is, staff very nice, local brews tasty and food in plenty! We had the carvery which I thoroughly recommend as we had as much as we wanted! Apart from a good choice of meat to eat, the puddings were also plentiful which we also enjoyed eating! Go here if you are in the area and enjoy the hospitality which is worth the visit!

A treat to visit this restaurant. A group of 26 went for an evening meal in the week. We all chose from the A la carte menu and Specials board. The staff were excellent. The food was wonderful. Timing was perfect. We didn't feel rushed or that we were expected to leave.

We have now been to The Bluebell Inn on a few occasions now. Every time we have been greeted by John and made very welcome! The menu is great, the food matches it and the service excellent. The last visit was on Sunday 7th February 2016 for Sunday lunch and the Carvery was something special Pork and Beef were exceptional. All in all there is nothing but praise for this establishment. Looking forward to our return!

My partner requested a carvery at this restaurant and for once, I allow him to have the credit!!!! The meal was delicious. The vegetables were seasonal, the Lincoln Red Beef so tender, the Yorkshire puddings and accompanying items were perfect. Pudding was Pecan Pie and fresh cream for me, banana boat for my partner. The cost of the meal was so reasonable compared to other restaurants we have been to and the service was exemplary. The landlord added to the pleasant atmosphere in this restaurant and hopefully, we will be going there again soon

Whaplode St Catherine is a linear settlement by a lovely drainage channel so it's a nice drive out from Spalding. It has built up a good reputation for decent food and we had a decent meal here so would recommend it for somewhere different, good beer too :)

I went here with some work colleagues and we were cordially welcomed. We sat in a room at the side of the bar, a bit like a well furbished barn conversion snug, while we perused the menu. We had a choice of everything on the menu or the Christmas carvery. Being the only vegetarian in the group, I chose the Brie and vegetable pancakes and they were delicious. I was invited to help myself to the salad bar where an array of salad goodies awaited. When we had finished our main courses, the waiter came over with a large dessert board, and from this I chose a pineapple crème brulee, and although I initially wasn't sure about the combination, again it was truly delicious. It's both reassuring and satisfying to know that there are eating establishments who not only cater well for vegetarians by offering them a good selection of choices, but who also produce dishes that you can't anywhere else, as eating out then feels like a treat, so well done to the chef! My colleagues also enjoyed their carveries. With our coffee we were given complimentary chocolates and mince pies, and no one could fault our evening. I shall certainly be returning and next time I shall be sampling one of the ales which are brewed in their on-site brewery.

Stayed here last night in our Motor Home, what a fantastic pub. The Real Ale was top rate as was the food, not your normal type of pub grub but very well thought out menu, presentation and flavours, its great to get some decent different food in pubs these days.John the landlord was very friendly and welcoming with Jen in the kitchen serving up wonders it is a great team and we will be back when next in the area, thank you very much.

We popped in on Sunday and luckily there had been a cancellation as it was fully booked. They had 3 meats which you could choose 2 from. They certainly don't skimp on the amount of meat they give you and both were cooked beautifullyThe dessert menu was huge with at least 20 to choose from, these tasted great tooWe will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area

Looking for somewhere different for a group of 6 we stumbled across this although reviews didn't do it justice. We were welcomed by the landlord in his unusual but obviously successful way an left equally as satisfied with the food as we were by the service. It will not be our last visit here

I visited on the 22nd July 2015 within a party of 30. I haven't been to the Blue Bell for over a year, no particular reason, but I can honestly say that it is still as good as ever. I (and a lot of others) had the Summer Buffet (£15 including dessert) and it was lovely, so well presented. I only wish I had photographed it. There was trout, salmon and mackerel; all sorts of mixed meats and various salads with fresh cooked new potatoes. As I understand it, this option is only available to large parties but it was well worth it! With it being a buffet, we were allowed to go up more than once too!Waiters were attentive also. The Blue Bell also has themed buffet nights through the summer.Remember "Black Jacks"...they have these too, nestling in baskets!

I visited with a group of friends and after seeing the very extensive menu decided to order off the special of the day board. My 'twice fried haddock' was two obviously frozen fish portions which smacked at Iceland at its worse and Asda basics at best - couldn't believe such poor quality food was advertised as a 'special'! Very disappointed as were others in our group. There is no excuse for such poor quality food - trim the menu and offer some fresh options! Won't be visiting again until a proper menu is advertised on line.

Thanks to Chris, his staff & 'the locals' for making us welcome on our Motorhome pubstopover. I had messaged prior to visiting, to ask if it was OK to park up and was welcomed, just asked to eat & drink in the pub. Chris has only recently taken over and started food, currently a very limited menu but good portions and well cooked. No facilities except toilets when open, but we are self sufficient so not an issue. Thanks, Tim Sue n Bailey 🐾

Overcooked dry steaks and burgers. "Well done" steaks were black outside raw inside. Burgers were close to being charcoal. Food not up to normal excellent standards.

Love rumblings for a traditional filling English breakfast but they have other great things on offer as well as really nice takeaway rolls and sandwiches. Very friendly staff and great value for money overall
