Turners Fish Restaurant in South Holland

Another excellent visit and we had our usual cod and chips in the upstairs restaurant. We received a friendly greeting and a wave from the boss as we entered and the staff upstairs were friendly and helpful, as always. Hope to squeeze another visit in before Christmas !

Absolutely disgusting will never buy from here again got told it was one of the best in Spalding and ohh wowwww they did disappoint

For the price of the pie I expected more when 1st cooed it was slightly burnt but then they microwave it and it was all hard around the edges also no option to order cold drinks

First time visit, we will go again. One large haddock and a steak pie. Chips were very good, Grasmere pie was quality and the haddock tasted great and was cooked to order. Nice gravy. Decent price and good service.

My husband and I occasionally have fish & chips, so we always come to Turners in Spalding . The staff are lovely very polite and obliging., we don’t eat much and therefore always share a meal and they don’t mind that at all. I can honestly say we have never been disappointed 😊

Having visited sheddys regularly for over40 years with family and my children to which was such a treat to sit near window.I will not be returning after last visit.Food was almost as being reheated chips were cold under a few hot ones.And being watched by very young & inexperienced staff throughout meal was uncomfortable.Sorry sheddys will not be returning end of a era for the Mead family.

We called in for our usual cod and chips today and they were fantastic, as always. If we lived nearer we would visit more often but as we live 50 miles away we pop in whilst visiting family. Service with a smile from the lovely young lady ! We never buy fish and chips in St Neots so it is always great to come here.

Chips and curry sauce was nice but the sausage was not cooked

The cod was small and expensive also very greasy and the batter was over cooked then delivered warm - chips were OK.

order placed over an hour and half ago and only just delivered. delivery time kept changing. very inconvenient when you order fast food as need to go out!!!

The chips were drowned in salt and tasted awful. I’ve always loved this chippy but this time we couldn’t enjoy it. Regardless of the salt the chips were just not great.

Lovely food. Only slight issue is that the plates are small, so the food can easily be knocked off your plate when you are cutting your food. Slightly larger plates would help.

Gent that served me was lovely. However the takeaway of 2x fish and chips was awful. I had a dozen chips, if that. The rest was just scrap bits of chips. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to their new potato chips

I visited Turner's and chose their vegetarian lasagne with chips, but was disappointed to find the chips are cooked in beef dripping. This excludes vegetarians from enjoying their main offering of 'chips' as part of a fush and chip shop. While I understand the commitment to tradition, most other shops have adapted to be more inclusive. It feels inconsistent to offer a vegetarian lasagne but not vegetarian-friendly chips. The staff were polite, but the overall experience was lacking due to limited vegetarian options. I was reassured that my mushy peas were vegetarian, however. The mind boggles.

Best chips in my 50 years of living made my week.

I walked into the take away area below. Three members of staff behind the counter. I stood a good 5 minutes and not one person acknowledged me. I love the food here. I love the place but I was so disappointed. Two people looked at me but didn’t even say “sorry I’ll be with you in a moment”. They were bagging up what I assume were orders online. I understand they were busy but to be totally ignored I just walked out. Very disappointing from a place I usually really enjoy.

Decent fish & chips, very hot when they bought them to the table. Fish was good but not as flakey as it could have been (perhaps a budget cut), I also thought the batter was too crunchy and could have been improved. I was disappointed with the chips as they were thin more like French fries rather than a traditional Fish & Chip shop chips. I haven't been to Turners for about 16 years, they used to have bigger portions and better chips. Although my recent visit was good I wouldn't say I will return in a hurry as there are better alternatives.

We visited Turners on Friday passing through Spalding on a family trip. I used to live in Spalding in the late 90s and enjoyed eating here. This time I bought my children and the food is just as good as it was back then! Highly recommend 👌

Called in on 30/3/24 whilst visiting Spalding. We had our usual cod and chips which were great, as always. It is good to have fish and chips reminiscent of my boyhood in the 50s Peterborough when fish and chips tasted so good. I also remember coming to Turners on tulip parade days in the 50s and 60s as a lad. As I said in my previous review from our last visit in December - it is always good to come here for decent and proper fish and chips as there are none in St Neots.

Sheddies is great for a whole host of reasons. A great service always with a smile and a reputation that makes it wholly local through and through. I spent my school years coming here on my lunch break with friends, to adulthood coming here on my lunch break with colleagues. Special attention to the gravy which is smooth and had me wanting it as a drink rather than a condiment. I know people who come down from London and head straight to Sheddies every time - it never disappoints!

I live in London and always come here to visit when I see my Dad. This is hands down the best fish and chips you will try in Lincolnshire and beyond. Always go for a large cod and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce and am never disappointed. The fish is battered to perfection and is always tasty and crisp. The people of Spalding are lucky to have a place such as this on their doorstep.

Been going to turners for must be nearly 30 years always great, personally love the 2 local battered sausages and chips, fish is away good also for when I fancied something different. Do miss the green lime drink though. Very good servers who are always polite.

We would like to take this opportunity to say that the cod and chips at Turners are always cooked just how we like them.The portions are never small. The staff are very pleasant and polite. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Fish was far too greasy for me and well too many scraps on the chips. Drinks too expensive. The menu NEVER changes and access for disabled is rubbish. I'd love this restaurant to get into the 21st Century and provide fritters and vegan and gluten free options. No wonder people use Wetherspoons just down the road. It's much cheaper.

We called in for lunch on 30/12/23 and had our usual cod and chips. Perfect, as always. Friendly service and the boss visiting tables to greet his customers in the good old fashioned way. It is always good to come here for some decent fish and chips as there are none in St Neots ! Happy new year, all.

Really disappointed in the portion sizes. Fish portions were very small and the size of a "large" portion of chips were tiny. The lady serving was also ignorant. She crammed in 10 packets of food into one carrier bag after I asked for her not to squash all our food in. The bag split and I asked for it to be replaced and our food to be spread out over 2 bags, I was completely ignored and the lady just crammed all the food again into a second bag by double bagging the original. When I got the food home all the chips were all stuck together and stuck to the packaging. Really disappointed with our service and food.

I have heard many people say how they love Turners but I was left disappointed, The staff are great but the food is nothing special. The chips are good but the batter on the fish is soft and only crispy at the ends.

Fantastic Fish and Chips every time. Sat upstairs in the restaurant next to the window. Great tasting food cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Definitely recommend. Bread rolls are from the bakery nextdoor.

Have been visiting Turner's for 30 odd years. Food is amazing, the team are super friendly and feels very family orientated. It is what it is, nothing pretentious about it, just a fantastic chippy 👏 love seeing the older generation visiting regularly too, my grandparents and parents have had some wonderul experiences here!

Standard Chippy. Prices are ok & the fish is good although takeaway chips can be clumpy & limp. Very different from eat in chips which whilst never crisp always seem to be fresh.

Wow, Clare's birthday with family 28th September, 9 plus a little un. 9 clean plates, plus a small one clean, fab welcome as usual, allowed to bring our "Green pop in" limeade. I had large Haddock and the freshness stood out, lovely big flakes, light gorgeous batter. Those who know me also know I never give top marks....well there's a first from me I guess. I find there is always room for improvement...I cant find any here....its keeping it up there which is the trick. Excellent value for money....Thanks to the whole crew and see you again very soon (I hope)

The first time we thoroughly enjoyed it but the following two times we were so disappointed in the size of the fish. The fish was very small on the second and third visit. Approximately half the size of other places. The waiting time was so long as well. Don't like leaving a poor review but was asked to leave one .

Used to visit on a regular basis however won’t be returning again. Myself / family would always order a large to share with my 3 year old and we would be provided with a side plate. On this occasion I was told no side plate was allowed (and she won’t eat a full meal so I’m not ordering a child’s one). I asked why as it had never been a problem before to be told “management said we aren’t allowed”. I was close to walking out at this stage but thought no don’t ruin it as I promised my little one fish and chips together. The food took quite some time to arrive and when it did it was very greasy. I had to put my little ones on napkins as I had no choice and you can imagine how that went with the grease. I was asked if I wanted any sauce and only provided with one- even though there were two of us. On top of this the floor wasn’t clean and definitely needed sweeping and cleaning between customers. If I’d have noticed this before eating I probably wouldn’t have stayed. Such a shame.

Long while since visiting this very popular fish restaurant. Very busy and I'd forgotten how the quality of the freshly cooked Fish and Chips remains very good. Been completely redecorated since last there some 4? years ago.

Popped past it and my partner Clare nearly jumped out the car!...she used to visit Turners over 40 years ago with her father. So we popped in and went upstairs. Clare was beside herself with excitement and she wasn't to be disappointed. We both had Fish n Chips. I had Haddock Clare had Cod, mine was a large, I had a pot of tea and Clare had a Diet Coke......all for less than £27. So was it worth it, we're already planning a return but bringing her brother to relive lovely memories. An absolute gem of a place......and believe me I am a really harsh critic!

The worst fish I have tasted very very dry .the wife said that the pie was the worst thing ever .cheese pie with bacon in it .it was very very very expensive. Will not go back again. From fleetwood visiting family. Used to live here 25years ago .

I have just had tea in the restaurant & was so impressed with the girl that served us. Her name was Cassie & she is perfect at her job. I went to the toilet after she took our order & she decided not to serve us until I was back so it was deliciously hot. We also had 2 pots of tea & she suggested bringing the first one with our meal & waiting until we wanted the other pot so it stayed nice & hot. Could not of had better service...Well done Cassie &Turner's chip shop. We will be back again soon 😊

Great food at very reasonable prices served by friendly staff. Husband opted for steak pie, which he declared was the “best pie ever”. The restaurant was spotlessly clean as were the toilets. Highly recommended.

All round great place to eat. Took my dad out for his birthday and he really wanted some fish and chips, so I asked around and Sheddys came highly recommended. And they really exceeded expectations. Not only was the food really good, the service and staff was amazing. Very friendly and make every single customer feel very welcome. Wouldhighly recommend.

Can you please update your opening times as your website states open all day until 8pm but you close at 2pm & open again at 4pm

Totally fab . Grandson has severe allergies. And was dealt with without hesitation. Fab place to eat .

Nothing wrong with food taste wise , but sausages where cold , and as for portion size my child would still be hungry , asked if they could batter a fishcake for me and she laughed at me , I thought this was a chippy , my local chippy TATES would always batter it .Back to wat we know I suppose .
