We were a group of 7 friends getting together for brunch and a catch up
The place is very small which is not a problem but not good for any groups larger than we were. It’s very traditional to the building with stone floors and exposed beams etc. which is good for most of the clientele as this is walkers or cyclists. They accommodate dogs too.
That is the good part.
Considering how busy this little cafe was, thy did not have enough staff on to manage this. We had the menus but it wasn’t clear we had to go to the counter and order.
A pot of tea for 1 was ordered and came with the smallest coffee cups ever, way too small for a cup of tea. Cold drink glasses were also brought out and they too were like child size cups.
The menu is very strange and very limited
Among our orders were soup and a toasty. The only soup option remaining was Pea and Mustard! Which none of us had experienced as a combination. It arrived so cold the plate bowl wasnt even warm. The toasties were good but again odd pairings and not good if you have a dislike of cheese.
The other thing that was annoying was there was no visible signage for the toilet. There was a door but nothing that said it was a toilet so I didn’t know if I was walking into a cupboard or the loo.
We would not return as it was not good for our needs but for smaller groups or individuals in need of a quick pit stop it is ok
A place to go for something different: local delicacies of pyclets and oatcakes served with flavoursome toppings. I had the "Canadian" (pyclets with bacon and maple syrup). The food is beautiful and the staff are welcoming.
As of March 2024, it shares premises with "Derby Uncovered" which sells local food and non-food products, including pyclets to take away.

I had a fantastic experience with Wok Inn in Kettering! As someone with food allergies, it can be nerve wracking trying new places, but the staff here went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable. They took the time to explain exactly how the food is prepared in their kitchen and how they avoid cross-contamination, which I really appreciated. On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend to anyone, especially those with dietary concerns. Great service and amazing food!
What a hidden gem! Scotia and Lisa are fabulous hosts. As a family in a campervan looking for a stop over on the east coast this ticked a lot of boxes. Free stopover in their carpark if you buys drinks at the pub. They have an honest shop with all the bits you may need, milk, chocolate etc a washing up sink and washing machine. The pub had a great atmosphere, darts boad, and kids were made to feel welcome.
We stayed over for NYE and the pub put on a small free buffet and kareoke. We also walked to the village hall that charged adults £2 entry for a kids disco and cheap drinks. The following morning we were offered a full English and a cuppa for £7. There is also an electrical point in the honesty shop you can use overnight for a charge of £7.
Not much in the area but great for bird watches on the marshes or a cheap and cheerful stop over.
Some pics on the wall would finish off the atmosphere.
Please can you have a second choice of coffee. Really enjoy coming here for Brunch/Lunch. But the coffee isn’t up to much - very bitter.
Thanks

not hygienic at all. the girl there wiped the used plate in front of my eyes instead of washing it. and I kept asking her to change my utensils but kept bringing me dirty once. it is a joke

This is mostly takeaway in Bridgeford, the food is delicious, punjabi chicken kebabs and enormous onion bahji's its been a regular go to place for a number of years. (We used the one at hyson Green when mum and dad had it.)
Possibly the best bookshop ever and I’ve been to lots! Quirky, eclectic, massive stock and excellent prices. A fab cafe and really nice staff - a must if you love good books and good food!
