What a disappointment went with a friend for breakfast we booked a table as we know it gets busy on a Saturday. We order toast with a oat milk Mocha. The Mocha tasted like dishwater No flavor to it definitely did not have much of the way of chocolates in it asked the lady if she could add some more chocolates which she did reluctantly telling us will it was with oat milk we alway have oat milk Mocha when we go out so know when ones not right. We then ate our toast to have the plates whipped away the moment the last mouthful want in . As we sat and talk and finished our coffee the place was busy but not full the moment we'd put the cups down they were whipped away to and the next thing we know the guy was standing there with the card machine wanting us to pay and be gone. Now I get it's Saturday and that it does get busy but like I said before there were tables empty and we won't even asked if we'd like anything else. Needless to say we won't be going back

I thoroughly enjoyed a recent 80th Birthday celebration at Emily's, who generously reserved the whole of the tea room for the event. High Tea was delicious with three sandwiches, three cakes and a scone with jam and fabulous clotted cream, plus a bottomless supply of tea or coffee. the refreshments are tastefully presented and there is an intimate feel to the tea room. The staff were very helpful and polite. I've been to Emily's on previous occasions, and also loved browsing the bookshelves where a book can be taken home to keep, for a donation at the customer's discretion at the till. Would thoroughly recommend - bear in mind that due to popularity you may have to book in advance!

It was perfect. Went there to celebrate mom’s birthday. The afternoon tea was superb… they catered for 20 family and friends. The most perfect setting, beautifully decorated an endless flow of tea, served with a great smile. The selection of sandwiches, cakes and the most scrumptious homemade sausage rolls. The staff were absolutely amazing. A massive “Thank You” to Emily’s Bakehouse. Looking forward to having lunch with you again

Fairly basic cafe food but misleading description. I ordered a breakfast called “The Plant”. It features VEGAN sausages, beans, mushroom, and tomatoes. You’d think this was veggie & vegan friendly, right? Wrong. The waitress informed me that all components are cooked on the same griddle as the meat. Kudos to her for being honest but come on - why offer vegan sausages if they’re being cooked in bacon fat. It’s laughable. Do better please. No complaints about the food itself. It was OK. Nothing bad but nothing outstanding. Basic cafe food, a couple of notches above greasy spoon. The cherry Bakewell cake was dry, lumpy where the cake batter hadn’t been properly beaten, and the buttercream cloyingly sweet. Service was friendly and accommodating. I won’t be back. Shame, because it’s a nice spot to sit when in town.

This place is a hidden gem. In the small market town of sleaford, set back a little from the high street. This quality Café never disappoints. Stunning decor and very friendly owners and staff they are attentive and go that extra mile to have a conversation, never mind how busy they may be. Great choices on the menu from light dishes and cakes to our favorite, which is the Scottish breakfast. Quality ingredients including stornoway black pudding, haggis, tattie scone, etc. All cooked to perfection.

A friend and I went for brunch. We had the before noon tea. A bacon butty and a sausage butty with 2 scones. Both the bacon and sausage were good quality. The bread was nice and soft. Cherry scones were tasty. Good value for money. We then also had a slice of the rhubarb and custard sponge. This was absolutely delicious!! Definitely recommend. The service was quick and friendly. The bakehouse is clean and airy. And the books on the wall for charity is a nice touch. Furthermore on a Friday lunchtime there’s some nice eye candy in the form of a window cleaner. Already recommended it to my mum. We will be visiting again.

My partner and I went for a quick breakfast at Emily’s Bakehouse whilst we were in the town centre. I’ve already experienced the beautiful food & drink the bakehouse has to offer in the past, but it was a first for my partner. This visit didn’t disappoint, as expected. The service was exceptional, quick and friendly, what more could you ask for. Our full English breakfast’s arrived within 10 or so minutes, which was brilliant for how busy the bakehouse was. It was divine. My partner was thrilled with how beautiful the coffee was and how good the breakfast was. We will definitely be returning, for sure! James, Kay & the team, superb job, as usual. Thank you! X

Popped in for the legendary Scottish breakfast and can say with a shadow of a doubt its the best dining we have had in sleaford. Staff were attentive and funny and helped us with social distancing and the food was out of this world. The Scottish fry included haggis and Stornoway black pudding alongside quality square sausage and a tatties scone.

Found this little cafe by accident and soooo glad we did, what a gem. We were warmly welcomed to this spotlessly clean cafe & immediately seated. We chose coronation chicken & prawn in Marie Rose sauce sandwiches both in brown seeded bread. The sandwiches were delicious, best sandwhich I have had for a long time. The bread was so fresh, thick & soft and we would happily have eaten it on its own spread with butter. Both sandwiches were generously filled & served with salad & crisps. Hubby succumbed to the lovely looking cakes and thoroughly enjoyed his Bakewell cherry cake, so moist and tasty. We would definitely return if we were in this area, such a lovely lunch.

This lovely cafe sitting next to the stream with outside tables. We asked could we sit outside with our Basset Hound. Of course you can came the reply and such a fuss was made of ensuring the dog was comfy first. Fresh water bowl and a doggy ice cream, a special frozen yogurt pot for dogs. Once our dog was happy we were served. This means a lot to dog owners when our family members are made so welcome. We ordered drinks and sandwiches, the place was packed but there was no great delay in service we were surprised at the speed. The sandwiches were delicious in very soft bread plenty of filling and a very nice side salad just enough for a snack lunch. Although busy the staff were so friendly and could not do enough for customers, despite having to cope with all the COVID-19 regulations on top. We will be back.

W e have been visiting Emily's for a number of years. After some negative comments on local websites recently I felt it necessary to provide a positive review in these difficult times. This cafe is following the government guidelines thoroughly and has done so since the end of lock down. It is spotlessly clean and the service is absolutely first class. In all the time we have used the cafe the food has been perfect and it is excellent value for money. Kay, James and their employees are doing their utmost to provide a great service in very challenging times. This cafe is a little gem! See you soon Bryn & Ann

We choose this spot because of the many positive reviews. I guess we turned up on a bad day!I have only been introduced to coffee a few years ago despite being in my mid 50’s and really don’t like coffee unless a well made flat white. I travel the world frequently for work and always ask the same question, can you make a flat white? The reason being unless the person is a passionate barista I rarely get a coffee I enjoy. This question clearly upset the lady serving us who ‘rolled her eyes out loud’ by the question and then represented the request to her colleague in a manner that was more like ‘we have a pain in the arse’ than ‘can we make this gentleman a nice coffee. (Yes we overheard).Everything was fine except the flat white was a milky coffee and not something I enjoyed. Not a problem though. I never said a word but when asked at the counter how things were I thought I would say everything was good except the ‘flat white’. Immediately confronted by both in very hostile way was very surprising as I was only answering a question I thought they were interested in hearing I placed a review on their website and their response is a really good example of their attitude. Instead of focusing on service recovery they wanted to blame me and absolve themselves of any responsibility.I of course mentioned this to a few people in Sleaford and surprise surprise was met with very similar responses, ‘we don’t go there anymore as the staff can be very rude’ Looking forward to seeing how the proprietors decide to respond to this one.

I tried to visit Emily's Bakehouse back in July 2019 for my birthday. The booking was missed and it ended in a bit of a disaster and I left a pretty negative review. I recently realised that the management had replied to my review offering 50% off my next Afternoon Tea visit for 2 and sincere apologises. I decided to try this cafe again, in the hopes it could live up to expectations. When calling to book a table, the person who took the booking was extremely thorough after explaining my reservations on booking again. I advised of my discount, and this was honoured for my booking. When we arrived today, we were met by lovely staff who all clearly were aware of my previous experience. They couldn't be more apologetic and I understood these things happen from time to time. The staff were attentive and helpful. The afternoon tea, priced at £12 per person was a fantastic and plentiful spread. We couldn't have asked for more. The filling in the sandwiches were varied and the bread was extremely soft. We spent an hour or so chatting and relaxing in such a beautiful and peaceful cafe and couldn't have been happier with the visit. Thank you Emilys Bakehouse for offering a discount on this visit and making it a positive experience. I will absolutely be back again!!!

After reading all of the reviews on Emily's bakehouse, I decided this would be the perfect venue to have an afternoon tea with my husband for my birthday. We needed somewhere local whilst the children were at school. After being unable to get through on the telephone and scanning the website, I clicked on the contact us button and had an in depth email conversation with a lady named Kay over a period of a few days. We discussed my requirements and I made a booking for 2 people at 13:00 on Friday 19th July (the day of my birthday). We arrived 15 minutes early to a completely full cafe. Okay, we were early so I went to the counter to speak with the girl behind it. She advised she knew nothing of my booking but said we could have a seat.... There were none free! What terrible customer service. Not only did I waste my time emailing back and forth, but then driving into town, paying for nearby parking and being told there was no booking. With everyone in the cafe eating, it was unlikely we would get a table anytime soon. Seriously disappointed with this service and unhappy it made for a pretty rubbish birthday lunch!

However, the lady who took our order must have lost her ability to smile a long time ago as her stern manner could provide anybody with a good chill (not that we were after that on this breezy day). It set the tone of our visit Andy fortunately, although there was another waitress who seemed more upbit and kind, we wouldn’t recommend the place, nor comeback again.

My eldest boy had a milkshake which came in a very sweet milk bottle and a bagel which he really enjoyed. We are also vegetarian and the staff were very helpful and adapted the food for us. My smallest boy (they also had highchairs) had beans on toast which was served with plastic cutlery and plate which was perfect! The hot chocolate was also lovely. I'm still finding my way around my new home County of Lincolnshire and on this occasion I was visiting Sleaford. I found the Handley Monument and walked around looking for other points of interest. Perhaps Sleaford would have looked better on a sunny day.One place of note is Emily's Bakehouse. It is situated at the end of a court (for want of a better description) almost out of sight and easily missed. I was looking for refreshment and almost defaulted to Costa, but I'm glad I didn't.This lovely restaurant has a very traditional feel, which extends to the table service and pleasant staff. One other reviewer said "probably the best service in Sleaford" which I cannot argue for or against, but I will say if there are others with better service (and value for money!) I would be surprised. There is outside seating for those brave enough on a cold day, but would be very popular on warm days. Inside, I was struck by the pleasant decor and the neatly set out seating. There are several tables with a window view and I was lucky enough to get one of them. The building is step free and therefore accessible to anyone using a wheelchair. The toilet is too, although there is only one, but very clean and suitable fitted out for wheelchair users. There is an extensive menu with a range of choice which covers breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea with enough choice for even the pickiest person (like me!) There is also a childrens menu. Children are clearly welcome as I noticed a box of books and toys to keep little ones occupied whilst parent finish their meals.I was served quite quickly - though I didn't feel rushed - and my late morning snack and hot drink came in just a few minutes.I was very impressed with Emily's and should I find myself in Sleaford again, hopefully on a sunnier day, I would pay another visit.

Just been back to Emily's, which despite increasing competition is still providing probably the best service in Sleaford. Excellent scones!

We have been to Emily's around half a dozen times now over a couple of months and keep coming back. Whether for a slice of cake, breakfast or lunch the food is always amazing. It is simple done brilliantly, with good quality, locally sourced meat, home made cakes and a good selection of teas. Whether on your own, as a couple or family this is a great place to come. The staff are lovely in cute pink aprons, and the room is cosy and decorated with bunting.Highly recommended.

Emily's Bakehouse is a small but warm and welcoming tea room with a wide variety of snacks including wonderful homemade scones and cakes. The staff are very friendly and willing to adapt the menu to suit. They also offer a very good take away service. On a cold, wet, windy day in Sleaford, there is nowhere that I would rather be for a welcoming hot drink and an indulgent snack.

A nice small family-run-vibe café with lots of choice and a half decent coffee. Nice friendly staff. The ventilation could be improved though because in the winter you leave smelling of what's been cooked!

This has the best BLT in town, and, although I didn't partake, the cakes look absolutely scrummy. I've been twice and will be back.

Never been to this town before so was walking to find somewhere for breakfast. This was the only good cafe I could see .Loved the quirky walk art and how well the cakes were laid out .Found the menu a bit limited .Bread is all freshly brought in I could see that . Was resonably priced would have liked a bit more bacon as the bread was sliced quiet thick .Staff are friendly . Tables were clean and tidy my knife had something stuck to it but it happens even in my house lol Would recommend to everyone

We have been here several times. The cakes are awesome and the rest of the menu is above average. Staff are polite although it can get very busy then service slows. Our only complaint is the coffee isn't the best and my husband is very particular about his coffee

Sat outside in the sunshine and had a cream tea for two, the best fresh scones I have ever had.My children had an egg mayonnaise baguette and a cheese panini which both came with crisps and salad.Easy to park opposite, .only £1/hour and the total bill was less than £15!

After a lovely coffee at the Old Leake cafe, we looked forward to trying the Sleaford branch. Unfortunately the young lady who took my order was not familiar with flat whites. A charming venue with a pleasant array of home baked offerings. Hubbie opted for sausage sandwich and was very impressed with the multi grain bread which they also sell from a local bakery in Grantham. My cinnamon bagel was standard fare.

Where do I start.....amazing, delicious, friendly, cakes. From start to finish this has got to be the best cafe in town currently. The staff are always very attentive, Kay the owner is always very friendly and always comes over to ask about the children. There is a box of toys for the children to play with whilst visiting and the children also have plastic plates and cutlery. Fantastic children's menu. Very affordable.

We have visited Emily's Bakehouse on many occasions and have enjoyed the food and service, however today we had a very different experience. We arrived, chose a seat, looked at the menu, then waited and waited and waited. We were not acknowledged by one member of staff in the time that we waited to place our order - even the table next to us commented on the fact the staff hadn't acknowledged our presence. The final straw came, after about 15 minutes of waiting and trying to get a member of staffs attention, when customers who had entered long after us were waited on - still without one member of staff greeting us or apologising for our wait. We appreciate that the cafe was busy, but good customer service goes a long way. I honestly don't mind waiting for good food, but waiting that long and being totally ignored is not acceptable. In the end, we left - and enjoyed breakfast at a different establishment. Hopefully this is a one off, however, sadly, this experience will make us think twice before visiting again.

This cafe is located in the downtown area of Sleaford, and offers a nice, bright and light space which has been attractively styled. It doesn't open until 9am and yet when we arrived soon after, it was very busy. All sorts of locals were enjoying breakfast at Emily's - several groups of older women, lots of mums or grandmas with very young children and a few couples. It was quite crowded, noisy and stuffy - in fact the toilet (a clean and attractively decorated space like the cafe itself) was so warm it was like a sauna. There are outdoor tables which offer more space, calm and air should one of those be free. Of course in such a busy space, it is not surprising that it took a while for us to be able to order, and that the young wait staff didn't have time to smile or be welcming. But when the food came out, we were definitely smiling ourselves. One of the stars here is the bread - the toast was close to perfect: great bread, toasted for just the right amount of time and with a generous enough quantity of butter and marmalade that there was sufficient for all of the toast provided (sounds a simple thing, I know, but as a big toast fan, I quite often receive such a small serving of spreads that it only covers half the toast on the plate. Not here though!). We appreciated the availability of newspapers to browse over breakfast, and noted that the cakes on the counter looked really tempting, had we been there at a different time of day. For out of towners, the cafe is not necessarily easy to find, and figuring out where the nearest car parking is can be a challenge so plan ahead.

Popped in here with a friend and her dog after a walk up the river. We sat outside as the weather was ok. The lady kindly bought the dog a bowl of water. We had tea and two slices of cake -both excellent with large portions. There was sufficient tea in the pot for 2nd and 3rd refills.Another couple occupied the next table and we had a good chat with them.Great service, good value and very friendly all round.

After a bust morning I went to Emily's Bakehouse luckily i was still able to order a full English breakfast, the ingredients are top quality with very good sausages. I can also recommend the coffee. The only negative thing is the plates are a bit small for the breakfast and it comes with only 1 slice of toast I asked for 2 I don't think I paid any extra.

I popped in with my dog and we were made very welcome. Lovely atmosphere with local people chatting and included me, made me feel welcome. The staff were very friendly and I had a hot chocolate and I really enjoyed scrambled egg on toast. I was so looking forward to popping in again on my next visit to Sleaford but I was very sad to read a newspaper article saying it has closed for good. So sad after 101 years in the town that this had to close.

Yet another visit to this fantastic pub. The lunchtime baguettes are amazing and great value for money. The only issue I have is with the guy complaining about his steak as the George has not had steak on the menu for quite some time. My advice is to ignore that review and try the pub for yourself, it's brilliant.

As spotless as ever. The prices still haven't risen and a really nice, well cooked breakfast with tea or coffee is still only a fiver! Can't fault the place.

We went for Saturday lunch. When we arrived we was told it was a 30-45 minute wait for food the pub was empty. But a few tables sat outside with kids. We ordered something easy. Ham egg and chip. After waiting the time they said our food arrived. The chips was cold and the egg looked like it had been sat for 10 minutes. They had an inflatable assault course for kids in the garden which is a great attraction for people with kids. But I wouldn’t advise going for a meal !! 🤮
