The Woodpecker in Derby

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. A traditional pub serving Indian and British food. Was quite busy but had a good atmosphere about, with sky sports on the TVs and a pool table. Menu has a small but decent selection of food which was on our table in about 10 min. Had a regular mixed grill with salt and pepper chips, dipping sauce and naan bread. Portion size is unbelievable and is plenty to fill empty tums, so make sure you're hungry. The pub is clean with a decent selection of ales and lagers located just outside the city centre. Decent price for what we ordered. We didn't need to book a table in advance but may need to on a Sunday afternoon. Overall highly recommended.

Great for a midweek get together. Group of 5 , great food. Good selection of drinks. Service was good. Will definitely come again.

Great local pub, has multiple TVs located around the pub for watching sports. Good selection of draught beers and lagers with a wide range of spirits too. The pub also makes good coffee. The food here is excellent not your usual pub food. But if you enjoy a reasonably priced curry that's fresh then this is the place. The mixed grills are also excellent. Has a pool table and darts board too, there is something for everyone here.

Food was brilliant a lot more authentic than we thought it would be. Better than a traditional takeaway.Good value too. Bar man was not friendly sadly. Maybe because we aren't locals as he was having good banter with what looked like regular customers. The young lad serving the food was lovely and friendly.

Lovely food and great service. Excellent if you enjoy a mixed grill.

A gem of a place. Great indian food, more traditional than I was initially anticipating but that was a very pleasant surprise. Everyone was lovely and the pub itself was nice too. Food took a while but this was probably due to the large party we were part of. I’ve no doubt with a healthy size on the norm, it would have been fine.

Really great food and medium spice was just right. Great and fast service. Nice TV screens for the football or other sports. I've put it on my go to places in future.

A great place to go. We called half an hour before during a really busy time and they managed to find us a booth to sit in. Friendly staff, great food, cheap prices. The owner always comes over and says hello. We were in a group and had a great time great for families, the lads , football fans etc ! Great vegetarian options too

Absolutely brilliant curry! Couldn't fault it at all! Lovely food, good price and nice atmosphere. Have the garlic and cheese naan! Please get a decent ale on though for when I return 😀

Great place for beers, footy and charity events, not had food here but I've heard good things about the food so will be trying it soon👍

Had some lovely curries in my time,but wow,this gem tops them all,it was the most delicious Indian meal,could not fault anything,we will most definately return soon.

An awesome experience throughout, especially regarding the help I received to figure out what I could safely eat. The food was so yummy, would definitely recommend. A great atmosphere (even with the noise of footie fans lol), though one can't complain about people having a good time 🤓 thanks all.

Not had food here yet, but we really enjoyed the pub, very clean, pool table and darts area. Plenty of seating, friendly staff.

Everything here was 5 stars, the staff are lovely and the food is absolutely amazing, so flavourful and the value for money is crazy, even before the 20% off which was a great surprise. Definitely will be coming back.

Lovely food and warm friendly welcome. Good beer and atmosphere. Very busy when we were there but service both friendly and excellent.

Mixed grill was bang on - lamb chops and chicken tikka cooked perfectly and accompanied with chilli sauce. Lamb karahi again was spot on although I had it desi hot and it blew my head clean off!! Selection of drinks behind the bar is second to none. Cobra on tap and good choice of single malt whiskeys. Walked in and sat to the right hand side of the bar which was very rowdy as it’s next to the pool table and dart board so would’ve preferred to sit at the tables on the left where it was a lot more quiet. All in the all the food was unreal. 7/8th time I’ve been and it hasn’t disappointed yet.

Can get busy but is still quite in the back.

Such a cosy pub with the addition of proper homemade curries! The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The curries are honestly incredible! Highly recommend for anyone looking for an affordable meal out!

Always great. It's my local. I walk past another pub just to come here. Good atmosphere, good owner/staff. Great clientel. Good prices. Serves indian style food now with mains and light bites available. English options available too. Has Sky TV and BT Sport.

If you just want a drink,great,very good staff on the bar,wide variety of drinks,and clean. If you want to eat....and I cant express this enough, the food is exceptional, very,very good

Popped in for a few pints we are local and always like coming here it's friendly and very nicely refurbished. We had a wrap from the new menu and it was delicious. A lot of tables reserved today and the place smells divine. Definitely worth a trip in for some authentic food. Perfect

An average looking pub but the beer and the food are overpriced for the area this stops it being an impulse purchase.

We went in on the opening night and not my cup of tea .

Very young landlord with no idea and very bud headed .A dirty women for a landlady called Nikita that looks a right one anyway and you can tell all she is after is money .Where do they get them from .That place keeps opening and closing but they will not last very long . **REPLY 1**Thats fine you may pass it to police as it’s a review of the place and management so it’s not slander .If something nice is said you can’t have a mardy that’s why it’s called a public review .Nikita was there as we was served quite rudely by her and when my Mrs said something to her she said she was the landlady and my partner is Nathan ?
